Daily Driver, SF’s Big New Bagel Maker and Creamery, Opens June 15 | Eater SF

"Opening June 15, a 7,000-square-foot, 130-seat Dogpatch retail cafe and production facility pairs classic wood‑fired, hand-rolled bagels with San Francisco’s only in-house cheese-making creamery: partners churn Jersey cow milk into European-style cultured butter, cream cheese, ricotta, ghee, and quark right in view of customers. Dairy preceded the bagels here—partners Tamara Hicks and David Jablons own Toluma Farms and Tomales Farmstead Creamery in West Marin, and Hadley Kreitz serves as head cheesemaker—while industrial designer David Kreitz built the clean, minimalist space and developed a bagel recipe aimed at producing about 7,250 bagels per day. The bagels are fermented overnight, boiled, and baked in Woodstone firedeck ovens, with leftovers turned into bagel chips or matzoh balls; chef Martin Siggins offers a weekday cafe menu and an extended weekend brunch featuring bagel sandwiches, bagel dogs, quark bowls, buttermilk-vinaigrette dressings, and whey-cooked bulgur tabbouleh. Located in a former can factory called the American Industrial Center, the cafe also houses Oakland’s Red Bay Coffee roasting on a Probat machine, and a portion of sales will support Project Wreckless; hours are 6 a.m.–3 p.m. daily with extended weekend brunch and future evening pop-ups planned." - Caleb Pershan

I’ve lived at this building for about 3 years, and this has been by far the best apartment I’ve lived in. First to start, the building is in a prime location, close to Hamilton park that gives family vibes, right across the street from the mall, and a short walk to the path and downtown area. Management and building staff have always been so friendly and attentive. Any time I had a maintenance issue (which was very rare by the way) they would come super quick and get the job done. The building is also kept VERY clean which I loved, shoutout to the cleaning staff. Picking up packages at the front desk was convenient and if I had any questions, I could count on the front desk staff. Management also has been great with answering my emails quick and efficiently. The amenities are top notch, my favorite being pool in the summer. They also do free different events and offers each month which I thought was super cool and always looked forward to. It was a pleasure living here. I highly recommend this building to anyone looking to move in the Jersey city area.

I’ve been living in this apartment building for a couple of months now, and my experience has been nothing short of fantastic. After exploring various similar buildings from Paulus Hook to Newport, I finally settled here for several compelling reasons: 1. Location: The apartment is just a 10-minute walk from the Grove Street/Newport PATH station, offering me excellent flexibility for commuting to downtown and midtown NYC. 2. Convenience: Located right behind Newport Mall, I have easy access to several supermarkets, including Target, ACME, BJ’s, and ShopRite, all within a short 5-8 minute walk. 3. Privacy: The surrounding area features only this large apartment complex, creating a quiet atmosphere while still feeling very safe to walk around at night. 4. Facilities: This building boasts the largest lobby among all the apartments I visited, providing a spacious entrance with friendly staff always ready to greet you. 5. Amenities: The amenities are impressive and include a pool, grill, gym, a small kitchen area for gatherings, a library (with free printing services), screening rooms, playrooms, and more. I literally have everything I need within my neighborhood! 6. Pet Friendliness: I love how welcoming the building is for pets. There’s always a jar of treats in the lobby, and pets can even be nominated as "Pet of the Month." It’s delightful to see so many furry neighbors! 7. Community Activities: The management hosts a variety of interesting activities and events, from field trips and photo booths to workshops and pop-up snack stands. Whether I want to participate privately or engage with my neighbors, there’s always something fun happening. I’ve invited friends over for meals, and they were all very impressed with the building. Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my choice!

Gabriella has been truly wonderful. On the day we moved in, both elevators were out of service, but she kindly guided us to the freight elevator and continuously checked in to ensure everything was going smoothly. She even offered us complimentary water and snacks, which was incredibly thoughtful. Despite the late hour—around 11 p.m.—she went out of her way to help us with our many large and heavy packages, assisting us in loading them onto the luggage cart. We deeply appreciate her warm and friendly attitude, as well as her remarkable energy and willingness to help.

I recently visited 485 Marin with a friend to check out the apartments, and the place was fantastic! Everything was spotless, modern, and well-maintained. The building has a really welcoming feel and the location is amazing — close to great restaurants, parks, and shops. Definitely one of the nicest communities I’ve toured in the area!

We've been at 485 Marin for a few months now and absolutely love it! Recently had a small maintenance request and within a few hours of putting it in, the maintenance team came by and fixed the issue! I wanted to specifically call out Santiago Ortiz from the maintenance crew -- he was super professional and patient, even dealt with our huge Bernese mountain dog mix barking the entire time without missing a beat. The quality of his work was top-notch and he made sure everything was perfect before leaving. It's so refreshing to have such responsive maintenance service and someone like Santiago who genuinely cares about doing great work! Really appreciate having him on the team here - makes living at 485 Marin even better!

I’ve been living in this building for 3 years, and the elevator issues in the North Tower have been constant and only getting worse. There are supposed to be two main elevators for residents and one freight elevator. Instead, we’ve dealt with months of only one working elevator, which caused long wait times just to get in or out of the building. Now, both main elevators are down, and hundreds of residents are forced to rely on the freight elevator. The location is great, and the staff are always kind and helpful — but the real issue lies with the KRE building owners. It’s clear they do not care about investing in or maintaining the property. The North Tower alone has over 350 apartments that calls itself “luxury,” charging premium rent while leaving residents in these conditions is completely unacceptable. What’s worse is the silence. Updates are nonexistent, and residents are left in the dark while dealing with daily frustration. Reliable elevators and transparent communication should be the bare minimum, not a luxury. It is clear that ownership prioritizes profit over residents’ quality of life. If you’re looking for true luxury living, look elsewhere — KRE has shown they simply don’t care!!
