Finally, a little slice of culture back into the "FIVE POINTS" downtown Denver area, heavily gentrified in recent years. Now directly next to the side entrance of Coors field on 22nd & Blake, is this nice new social lounge/bar. We have been seeing ads for weeks and decided to pop in on the Grand Opening Day on March 30th. As soon as you walk in, you know the vibes. The construction of this establishment was nicely crafted. Security greets you at the door and routinely checks IDs.
As soon as you step in, you may request a table from one of the 3 hostesses at the booth. Otherwise, you are free to sit anywhere along the long bar that fills most of this establishment. My group decided to sit at the bar. Immediately upon sitting, we were greeted by beautiful & handsome (pause) bartenders. The bartenders were super friendly and attentive to us & others around the bar. Food and specialty drink menus were placed in front of us along with glasses of water. A few of us decided on the specialty crafted cocktails, I stuck with my Mezcal & Ginger beer. Evertime I pop up in there All the Bartenders greet me w/ a smile say Hi, chop it up, and get me normal Mezcal & Ginger beer. I love the service & professionalism of all the people behind the bar no matter how busy it is.
If you are looking for nice Grown & Sexy vibes while listening to great R&B & Hip-Hop DJs spin, this is your place. They have a nice rotation of different Djs to keep it fresh! You will hear a heavy rotation of 90s Hip-Hop/R&B along w/ modern musicians from East Coast West Coast to the Dirty South. I believe I even heard some drops of Afro Bears & Latin flare thrown in there occasionally.
The clientele are spectacular. I have not seen so many good looking people dressed to the nines like they were in Miami or ATL social clubs. Everyone just has smiles on their faces and laughter fills the air as people vibe out to the great music the DJs are spinning and just having a great time amongst other great vibing adults.
One thing they focus on is their Lamb chops. A few people had their lamb chops, Spring Rolls and fries. Recently I have seen chicken & Waffles. I believe they do a weekly rotation on small plates/tapas they offer. Upon coming back one day I will try the other food items.
There is plenty of seating, but I believe there is a reservation system for most of their tables. Yes they can organize this portion, but they will eventually get this running more fluid over time, they are a new establishment, be patient. Like most establishments downtown they sit full parties only per the hostess.
This place is definitely THE NEW HOT SPOT in the city for Hip-Hop/R&B for responsible and the Grown & Sexy. This is not tour typical Hipster/Swanky Gentified Bar/Social lounge, so no this is not for everyone, but they certainly invite everyone of all sexualities, races, & creed inside to come in & enjoy yourself responsibly. I have never in my 25+ years in Denver seen such a diverse chill crowd enjoying themselves with this vibe.
With such popularity comes, jealously, envy and jaded dishonestly about a minority owned and ran establishment. I've seen the recent reviews, which blew my friends mind. Some individuals in the community have made up accounts to bash this place, you can tell this is their only review w/ 1-2 reviews. Some just bash every establishment they've reviewed. This is not like the country western bar which has had shootings/ stabbings w/ a countrywide manhunt for the perp; on Market street that the community doesn't talk about.....shhhh Or the same issues from the other techno bar/Edm bar right across from them on Market. Places are going to have issues at times, it's the Brave New World of Downtown Denver since covid closures & increased homelessness the city needs to properly address to protect all establishments period.
All I can say is try this spot for yourself if you love Hip-Hop/R&B! You will not be disappointed in the energy and vibes pouring out this building l, no matter who you are cat, dog, alien, and/or human. This is a safe space and community of fine ass woman & men (pause) just VIBING out on some grown shhhh like this is Houston, ATL, Miami, NYC. 4Play is just trying to bring culture & postive energy back to the area We used to call HARLEM of the WEST!!! Come one Come All, come for the Vibes!!!! #YOUKNOWTHEVIBES A lil 4PLAY in ya life can spice things up.
