4Roomed Ekasi Culture - Review - Khayelitsha - Cape Town - The Infatuation

"The townships in the Cape Flats are where the majority of the population was forcibly moved during Apartheid. This region has a distinct culture and learning about that history is a must while you’re here. The best way to do that is through the seven-course lunch at 4Roomed Ekasi Culture. You’ll learn about Xhosa (the predominant African culture in the Western Cape) traditions through the $15 tasting menu with dishes like pap, a common starch, served here with butternut, nutmeg, and truffle oil. One of the best parts is chatting up the staff, so make sure to ask tons of questions. Start your day here with a big group lunch before heading to Rands for an afternoon of dancing." - Dana Alloy

We had a great lunch here together with friends from the US and Finland. Abigail made it very fun for the kids to make their own burgers and my favorite is still pap infused with truffle oil. It doesn't get much better. Don't miss out when visiting Cape Town. Combine with cycling tour.

Delicious food with amazing service. Our waiter, Masixole paid perfect attention to us and didn't hesitate to tell us the whole back story of Four Roomed. The food was spiced just right. I specifically enjoyed their steamed bread and the lamb curry (that can be purchased separately). The salad is refreshing. I highly recommend their home-made sweet chilli sauce. It is slightly pricy if you are taking out your whole family, but totally worth it.

AMAZING!!! So much fun, sooo welcoming and soooooo tasty. We spontaniously dropped by for lunch. The 4Roomed team was amazing. And the food super delicious. Def going back. And hoping that they will open a Bed&Breakfast soon ; )

Absolutely loved this place. It's run by a family. Mom is the chef, dad is the manager, kids receive us and take the orders. It is quintessential. Sitting area is the back yard of the house and inside is a mini gallery. The sitting area is also set up with old school furniture pieces you'd find in the 4 roomed homes. The food is beautiful, hearty, tasty, and an experience. The chef is chatty and friendly. The family is just kind in general. It's a nice place to enjoy with close friends and family. Or to go to when you miss something homelike with extra KAPAAAW!

Simply put: the best place I ate to in South Africa. The food is local, subtle and simply so tasty! Great vibes and amazing social entrepreneur chef with her own amazing story (ask her!). The place is furnished and designed with a lot of taste. It is fancy and township-like at the same time. I simply loved it and highly recommend it.
