The food was wonderful and good portions. Our server however, seemed perhaps overworked or else we must’ve crossed him somehow. We had a hard time getting information from him and he was almost rude/dismissive. Atmosphere was good. Would try again. Visited 12/11/24.

Google
Two guys working on Sunday afternoon. We walked in to a few folks at the bar and an empty set of tables. Didn’t look promising. We were pleasantly surprised from start to finish. The after show rush filled up the place in 20 minutes and the place got busy! The guys were humping, but did a great job taking care of everyone we saw in the place, despite looking short handed. Food was all good, solid pub fare. North shore roast beef took me back to Ipswich. The number of gluten free options was awesome to see.

A quick bit to eat before seeing Wanda Sykes at the Wilbur. Got a drink and 2 apps. Very good & Gluten free!!

Google
Traveled to Boston from Vermont so we were totally out of place tourists!! We originally intended on a different place down the street but it was closed so we ended up here with our daughter. Totally a bar scene but the bartender was really nice and didn’t say anything about the toddler! Food was great and the espresso martini was amazing! Oh and the pickles might’ve been homemade and they were delicious!!

Google
I went with my friend late in the evening mostly for drinks and the food to snack on. This review is based on that. I would the drinks are mediocre and nothing special. They aren’t particularly creative and the flavors are alright. The food is decent. We ordered the fried pickle and steak Caesar salad. Nothing special but for a late night pick me up, it will definitely hit the spot. When we went, which was a Tuesday evening, it really wasn’t that busy. The server was professional and efficient. We were seated at the bar. The interior has an interesting design that was pleasant. Felt like a sports bar but with more effort put into its aesthetics.

Google
My family and I went there for lunch and the food was amazing! Everything we had from the nachos, Brussels sprouts, pretzels bites , burgers , and fish and chips were honestly delicious! Staff were great and friendly . Truly enjoy our time and food ! We honestly recommend this place !!

Google
Outstanding local tavern. We had the Nantucket Ruben and the Fish and Chips. Some of the best we have had. There breading is light and subtle made of rice flour. Would have this again. The service was outstanding.

Google
We hosted an after-party for a wedding at 4th Wall last night, and everyone there was really amazing. The bartenders and the manager were so friendly and made us feel at-home, the drinks were terrific, and the food was awesome. Definitely a gem. We’ll be back soon!

Yelp
Huge fan. Staying at a hotel very close by and wanted a night cap. Friendly bartenders - check Strong drinks - check Dope electronic juke box - check A couple of tvs for the sports - check This is better than a dive but not the fanciest place for a cocktail. Just perfect.

Yelp
Stopped in for an after show dinner on Saturday night. We put our names on a waitlist as we walked over from Boylston Street. They were clearing our table as we walked in about five minutes later. I was pleased that the music was loud enough to jam to but low enough that I could have a conversation with my friend and people af the table next to us. I had a delicious mixed drink called Why's the Rum Gone? We had had a late lunch so we're just peckish. We split an order of the bourbon steak tips and an order of fries. For a bar that serves food rather than a restaurant that serves beer and drinks, we were really pleased with the tender and well marinated steak. The server was very attentive to us and helped with food allergy concerns. A great experience.

Yelp
I hate to do this but my experience this past Sunday was terrible. The first time I went to this restaurant was AMAZING, the food and service could not be beat. This time was much different. They had one bartender working a busy night with multiple table reservations. She did her best but was very overwhelmed. Then another bartender showed up. There were people waiting for tables at the door that were NEVER addressed. He did not seem to care the other bartender was drowning in table service and did not address the line of customers rolling in. Our table ordered nachos, Nantucket Rueben's, and fish and chips. The fish was DISGUSTING. It was advertised as haddock but tasted like tilapia and burned to a crisp. Burned so bad that you could not chew it. The fish in my sandwich was the same. I will not come back to this establishment. I don't know if it changed hands but it needs an entire revamp.

Gil S.

Yelp
The steak tips were really good and this place had an old school bar vibe with good music (and a jukebox too). The bartender was nice and overall I had a good time. There's a big bar and some tables the bar area tvs had sports on.

Dustin L.

Yelp
Great vibes and food. I would recommend this place to anyone that's looking for a spot with good drinks and food.

Michelle W.

Yelp
Wicked awesome gluten free and dairy free food! We had amazing service and we were here twice in 3 days! Big tv's for a B's game or comfortable booths for a girls night. Great music mix and fun decor too.

Terra S.

Yelp
The drinks were 10/10. I had the wall burger and it's a lot of food. I could only eat half but it was good. The fries were okay. The server was handling all the tables and the bar so it took a bit to check out, but he was friendly. Affordable and I can see how this place would be slammed later at night.

Jenni F.

Yelp
The best I can say about this place is that it was fine. By that I mean, neither good nor bad. The service was very slow. In fact, everyone in my party was fairly certain our server was under the influence of something. He was generally forgetful and out of it, and was regularly standing behind the bar munching on food.. this is only noteworthy because we were in a hurry and trying to eat quickly and get to a concert on time. From where we were sitting, we could see when the chef put our food out and we watched it sit there for 10 minutes while the server appeared to be in La La Land. The food itself was OK. Not great. Not horrible. We ordered brussels sprouts a couple of chicken wraps and the falafel. By far the best item was the falafel dish. The side salad that came with my chicken wrap had whole carrots in it... It was like they couldn't be bothered cutting them up. Very strange. Given that there are so many options in that area, it is doubtful that we would go back.

Yelp
Great local spot to stop in for a drink and food. First time in Boston and was walking by and decided to stop for a break. We really enjoyed this place very much.

Jay W.

Yelp
Great food. I had the house burger and it was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Good beer list. Quick service.

Brendan G.

Yelp
The fries were great, the special was just alright. For as few people as were there when we were, the service was very slow. I probably would have had two more beers had our server checked in with us. There was also an odd smell. Something between old skunked beer, and your grandmother's house. I don't think I'd return.

J S.

Yelp
Well, we had a confirmed "yelp" reservation for last night, got there at the reservation time only to see a sign on the door: "Do not Enter. Wet Floors!" Not a soul to be seen through the window. Restaurant was clearly closed! BOO!! Had to scour the area to find another restaurant prior to theater. Not cool.

Lea F.

Yelp
Thankfully we were able to join the waitlist from Yelp! It was a super cold friday night so we didn't want to have to wait outside or stop into a bunch of spots in order to find an open table. This is also a small place with a huge bar, not a ton of seating. My friend really enjoyed her nachos. I got the sweet chili chicken bites which hit the spot. Kind staff. Convenient location if you're going to a show in the area.

Brandi K.

Yelp
I would like to start off by specifying the ONLY reason I even gave 3 stars was because of our bartender/server. She was a lot of fun and help with recommendations. Howeverrrrr, the food was a huge let down. The reviews made this place look like we were going to have a gastropub experience. What we got was 7 overly fried pickle chips for NINE DOLLARS. The table next to us got 11 pickle chips for the same price. Ironically you get like a whole pound of chicken bites for the same price. Riddle me that, batman. We also shared the burger which I didn't even capture a photo of... it was basic. But to be fair, it was the only food option open in that neighborhood and we were hangry. Definitely don't need to give them another try. I'll forever be annoyed by this pickle experience.

Joseph B.

Yelp
We dropped in on a Saturday night around 6pm and only a couple of other tables were there. The sweet corn appetizer is scrumptious and I would highly recommend. We also had the pretzel bites which were really good as well. For the main dish, it was the burger with fries and fish and chips. The burger was good and the fish was lightly breaded which was a plus. Three big screen TVs on the wall are an added plus.

Patte A.

Yelp
Going to the Russell Howard show at the Schubert (look him up...SO funny!) had dinner at the 4th Wall. Yummy drinks, amazing staff, great Caesar w Chicken and my husband's Bourbon Steak tips were 100%! The crowd was chill, lively atmosphere, warm and great music tracks. A really stellar pub/bar!

Alexandria G.

Yelp
Maple BLT: The bacon was generous and definitely tasted like maple syrup was on it. The fries were tasty, too! I had the Sangria, which was served with ice and in a tall glass. I've never Ehpad it like that before, but since it had been in the low 90s that day, it was refreshing. Our server was nice and brought water as soon as she came to take drink orders, which was appreciated. My sister had the grilled chicken wrap and thought that it was good, too.

Mary B.

Yelp
We never had food here, just drinks and listened to music from the jukebox and danced. Fun atmosphere.

Justine M.

Yelp
We went here after a show at the Wilbur as a recommendation from our waitress. I have celiac and she was telling me how amazing 4th wall is for gluten free items. We tried the sweet chili chicken thighs, the burger of the week and the steak tips. The burger was delicious and my partner is still talking about it a day later. The fries are a 10 out of 10 if you love fries, this is the place to go. They were even delicious when cold. I had the steak tips with fries. I asked for them to be medium. Oddly they were all different temps. I had some that were med, well done and raw. No idea how that happened but nevertheless they were perfectly seasoned and marinated. Would go back for Kate night bites again if in the area. The kitchen closes at 11:30!!!!

Yelp
Stopped by here after viewing their food offerings! This would be the perfect place to grab a beer and burger after a long day of work. Ample seating at the bar! Items we ordered (as of 1/2023). - Poke Tuna Nachos - $16 - Really liked the poke! Fresh and great flavor with the miso aioli. Kind of hit or miss with the Doritos though. I personally would've preferred tortilla chips with more of the miso aioli and seaweed salad as the flavor of the Doritos was a bit overpowering. - Simple Caesar Salad - $12 - Great Caesar salad. Very generous portion for the price and each leaf had a perfect amount of dressing on it. Only wished anchovies were an option. - Wagyu Hot Dog - $17 - I actually really enjoyed the hot dog. Great flavors and the chorizo really helped in the flavor department. Large amount of fries too! - 4th Wall Double Burger - $18 - I would definitely get this again. It has that great char flavor that you can only get when grilling over an open flame (unlike a flat top). Definitely would recommend. Great food (and drinks) at reasonable prices!

Kylie R.

Yelp
Unfortunately would not recommend, thought it looked cute from the outside and me and my out-of -towner friend wanted to give it a go. Prices were a bit ridiculous, $10 for a shot that's 13% proof and $18 for a burger. I asked to switch one of the three tvs to something else but unfortunately it seemed like the bartender was playing favorites because a different customer's request was chosen over mine, even though they already had a tv of their choice playing what they wanted to play, so one customer getting to control two tvs?? Yeah I'm still confused as well. Overall just a disappointing experience...was really excited to try it out and then just left feeling discouraged.

J H.

Yelp
Great local place for food, drinks, and atmosphere. Small-ish, but room to relax, bar and table seating options. Chowda was very good. My wife and I both enjoyed our burgers (rare occurrence). Staff was friendly and helpful. I'll be back next trip!

Mel H.

Yelp
I ended up here on a whim with friends, it was one of the few bars open after 10pm on a weeknight. I did come during the holiday season, but the music was great. Sometimes you never know what you will get with the playlist at a bar, but this one had enjoyable music. Everything from R&B, to Hip-Hop, to throwbacks. The bartenders were very friendly, and easy going. We didn't opt for any nicer drinks, as this is more of a dive bar spot. Overall, if you're in the area and have nothing much going on, it's worth stopping by. However, it is not a place I would prioritize on a trip.

Tony W.

Yelp
Had a great time here at 4th Wall. This place was clean and had good service. We were at the bar Tam right next to here and we left Tam and came here! What a good difference. Would come back.

Tricia W.

Yelp
After enjoying a show nearby, the fam headed here for a quick dinner. This small place is stuck back between a few other larger places, so you might miss it but don't! On a Sunday evening, it was easy to get seats, and service was quick and efficient. Besides not having chicken available, overall, the food offerings were really good, well-seasoned, and thoughtful. The falafels, for one, were small but mighty in flavor! And the pretzel bites were amazing! The steak was lacking for me, and the quinoa was underseasoned. But overall, if in the area again, this is a great place to grab a bite to eat!

Sean M.

Yelp
The prices are reasonable for the area. The service is fantastic. A nice comfortable place.

Rach D.

Yelp
Great food & excellent service. Accommodated food allergies and was a cool lil bar spot.

AJ J.

Yelp
Food was ok. Not bad, but not good either. Burger was overcooked. Service and ambiance were fine but unremarkable.

Lara D.

Yelp
The nachos were good and a large portion size. The burger of the week could not be modified to remove the mushrooms. The first waitress was great. The second waitress was just okay. The music was very loud to the point everyone was shouting. Small place with decent decor. Drinks expensive.

Aida C.

Yelp
chill vibe, not a crazy amount of seating but the wait wasn't too long, service was quick and friendly. the only thing about the nachos were they were drenched in cheese, which caused some of the chips to be soggy. tasty, nonetheless! the chicken bites were good. fairly priced for the amount of food you get, would come again

Danny C.

Yelp
Great clam chowder!! Would definitely recommend this for a nice place to hang out. We will definitely visit again when we are in Boston again!

Brad B.

Yelp
Even though they were busy we were seated and served very quickly! I got the grilled tips with brussel sprouts and the meat was perfect. It was a little on the sweeter side than what I'm used to but it was cooked perfectly. Definitely a sports bar so exactly what I expected. I would go back and try another plate. Good experience and will go again!

Jen H.

Yelp
Typically I try to focus on positive reviews but our experience was so contrary to past reviews I thought I should let people know. Service was judgy: the server did not refill drinks-even the pricey ones, seemed irritated by our presence, and responded rudely when we tried to ask a question; the food was re-heated and lacked flavor. Even the pretzel bites and dipping cheese were awful. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, especially based on expectations that past reviews set up. This is definitely a place I'd skip.

Betty J.

Yelp
Among the best clam chowders I've ever eaten and I'm a big chowder fan. My husband really enjoyed his burger and fries. We were in and out of there within an hour. Staff were busy and brisk but efficient. Prices were reasonable.

Rob M.

Yelp
Came here tonight with my boy Josh. I met Josh when my sister's boyfriend (they're still dating and he is a really great guy) was unable to go to her semi-formal like 8 years ago so she asked me if I'd attend as her plus one Josh was her roommate's plus one. I spent most of the weekend trying to meet my sister's college friends but ever since I secretly had a fling with her friend from high school she has been less than supportive of me dating her friends. It's fine though I met Josh that weekend and here we are like a decade later. Anyway, came here because I was starving after work and I texted Josh who lives in Boston and he met me here. I found this biz on Yelp. I got the double 4th wall burger and it was SO good. So glad I did. They do a weekly special burger but I wanted classic. Heather the bartender taught me how to tie my shoes which was something I never could do before so I will leave this city and go back to Chicago as a full-fledged adult. So stoked. Also my friend Josh owns a CBD seltzer brand called Shimmer and I was able to connect him w my friend who owns liquor stores. Everybody Wins. Everybody Eats. Also Heather recommended so many good beers. I had 3. I love the fourth wall I will always come back.

Ben H.

Yelp
Amazing place! Seems like hole in the wall. Food is delicious and hands down a great place to

Nicole P.

Yelp
Horrible service. Multiple customers waiting left. It was 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged we were there. After 22 minutes we got our drinks. Red sangria taste was way off and tasted like Fritos. Most appetizers were out of stock. We ordered street corn and it came out kinda warm but definitely not hot. When the main course came out 35 minutes after the drinks (waitress never came back to check on us) it was cold but burnt. When I asked to warm it up they offered to just fix me another meal..after sitting for an hour I declined. Manager did come over and apologize stating it was just a busy night. He paid for our meal. Would not recommend.

Doug S.

Yelp
Dude!!! Everything is delicious!! Falafel Bites and street corn to start... best in town so far. Burgers were all great but Steak Tips took the win! And big big bonus, gluten free all over the menu. Great wait staff, get bar!! We are coming back!

tim w.

Yelp
We arrived in Boston, the last night of an 8 day trip. We checked into the Park Plaza and walked over to 4th Wall... it was great. We shared the steak Nachos (which were amazing)and I enjoyed the special burger while my Partner had the BLT and a few martinis.. right by the theaters if you're looking for a place to go.

Doug D.

Yelp
We went before a show based on positive reviews, but the only positive about the place was it wasn't crowded. The food (chicken sandwich) was horrible and the service was so-so. Very thin chicken with deep fried breading that was thicker than the chicken. I got a side salad that was literally romaine lettuce with tomatoes. And to make matters worse, the music was so bad that it forced people to put money in the juke box to make it stop. I won't be back.

HaLena L.

Yelp
We were looking for a late night meal and found this place right next to our hotel. It was a great find. It was kinda busy but only at the bar. We were able to get seated right away for food. We had order the fried pickles and the burger of the week the caliante burger. Everything was great and we didn't have to wait long for our food. It's a great kickback social bar to go to for drinks with friends and enjoy a delicious burger.

LaShonda H.

Yelp
This place is the real deal. Something tells me it's underrated. I walked here from my hotel (Courtyard Boston) and grabbed a seat at the bar. The bartender provided excellent service. I had a cocktail made with matcha, it wasn't the best but he mixed it well. I ordered the chicken sandwich and fries for an entree. When I tell you that's one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had!!!! My Lord that chicken was tender, juicy, and flavorful!!!! The fries, fantastic!! As a matter of fact, I ended up coming back another night and had a Caeser salad and fries. Another great meal and stuck with Jack & coke this time. Great place to watch games too. I will definitely come back next time I'm in Boston.

Steve A.

Yelp
A pretty cool ass bar. 4th Wall is a good place especially at night. It stays open later than anything else around this. Go take care of the late night munchies. The only bad thing is the loud mouth girls who invade this and make your ears bleed with their loud ass shrieks. I was skeptical that the food was as good. It certainly is a good place for getting wasted late at night. Thankfully the food holds up. Drinking on an empty stomach is bad. Everything I've had here so far is terrific. A lot of cocktails. The prices are typical for around here mostly. It's about $10 for something like Jameson. The food is worth spending the money on so save your money for that. I like the Soy Ginger Brussels. It's $13 for a plate. These are tossed in sweet ginger sauce. On top is roasted red onions. This is probably the healthiest thing on the entire menu, which is otherwise filled with fried stuff. Good for some fun late at night but there's a pretty big negative about it. It's popular with those getting out of the clubs on the same block that get lots of annoying people. The crowds are filled with loud mouth girls who then come over here from there.

Arnold W.

Yelp
The burger was very good, the fries too plentiful to eat, the atmosphere was good, and the Guinness Stout was the reason for the meal. Nice place, family friendly. The service is easily distracted, but as long as they serve Guinness, no problem. Go here in the theater district.

Jesse K.

Yelp
Incredibly delicious food, great atmosphere and very comfortable ambiance. The service was also wonderful. I went with the Garlic Parm Chicken Bites and the Tuna Poke Nachos and they both far surpassed my expectations.

Bill M.

Yelp
Food was fantastic. Great service, just a great chill vibe in a cool bar. Walked in by chance and stumbled onto a great find.

Sabina V.

Yelp
We stopped here for a quick bite to eat after seeing Blue Man Group-what a find! They sat us immediately (even though it was late) the service was terrific and the food was delicious. It also was ready quickly! I'm gluten free and they had lots of options for me including one of the best gluten free buns I have ever had.

Carolina F.

Yelp
Food and drinks excellent, service super nice and ambiance was just right. Great place for a nice drink and a quick bite to eat.

Emma B.

Yelp
We really enjoyed this place! Make a reservation as it's small and in a popular area for people to stop in at the bar! The food, drinks, and service are all really good. Great place to grab a bite before a show!
