"Open until 2 a.m. Sundays to Thursdays and 3 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 5 & Diner is a traditional 50s American diner —finished with checkered floors and chrome walls to boot. Since 1989, 5 & Diner has been satisfying Phoenicians’ appetites with comforting entrees like open-faced turkey sandwiches, liver and onions, and meatloaf." - Mcconnell Quinn

Oh my GOODNESS... TAMMY NEEDS A RAISE AND A GOLD MEDAL. We decided to have a little date night at 5pm on a Saturday. We walked in at the beginning of what was a MASSIVE rush of people. All tables slammed full, max capacity. Tammy was moving at lightning speed, never sat down, never slowed down. She was as present as she could be while managing massive parties of people and training a clearly overstimulated trainee. The kitchen was churning out plates like a machine, and they all looked EXCELLENT. Our burgers were perfectly cooked. The pumpkin pie shake was on special, and DELICIOUS. The food at atmosphere are always good, but... the service really just blew me away. She's rough she's tough and she's in charge. And she supports her staff. I can't brag more. Best experience I've had in a busy diner in a long time!

Best breakfast I've had in AZ since moving back from California! Husband took me here after having some really good Chicken Fried Steak for breakfast at this place and so worth the drive we made from Tempe! Ordered the Country Breakfast for $15, came with hash browns (super good, not too greasy and cooked light as I requested) scrambled eggs and 2 biscuits with gravy (so moist and very good gravy) with sausage or bacon (I chose sausage links and they were so flavorful and juicy)! I tried my husband's CFS (I can understand why he ordered it again!) I'm not a big chicken fried steak fan but even I would consider ordering this on their menu. It was $15 and comes with 2 eggs, hash browns, and a choice of toast, pancake, or biscuit. He ordered the pancake plus two more! We shared all of it, and the pancakes tasted like actual buttermilk pancakes, rich but not too sweet...could not help but finish them. Iced tea plus the meal was $42 after tax, but before tip. So worth it and highly recommend! Place is small but 50's diner decor, very friendly and quick service, with outdoor seating. They are 24 hours, with a very appealing lunch and dinner menu too! I'd love to try so much more, but passing up that breakfast on our next visit will be very hard to do! We found our favorite breakfast place finally!

So I just want to say, those chefs are soo on point with all their food! The food was fantastic!!! It reminded me of going there 20 years ago with my family, except even better than that. The fried pickles were amazing, as was the loaded potato. Me and my wife ordered the guacamole burger for our dinner and they came out perfect. We asked for medium and medium rare. My wifes burger was perfectly pink all the way through and mine had a little in the center. All the food was incredible and I just want to give them a shout out. The waitress we got "tammy" specifically, Was "THE WORST" waitress I've ever had. I get that she was busy but the way we were treated was unacceptable. She was rude from the moment she walked up to us. I honestly wanted the bus boy as a waiter. At least he was polite and very friendly. Tammy seemed to have some sort of problem with us which I didn't understand because we were very polite the whole time. She walked up to the table and said "let me have it." It took me a second to reel back from her response so I kinda fumbled over my words and when I did. She sighed, rolled her eyes, and sat down looking really annoyed. So I rushed and gave her my order in under a minute then she says "What else do you want" so my wife said she wanted some ranch. Tammy replies with "i guess" she walked away without saying anything. At this point I was starting to get really annoyed. So another waiter came with the food and the ranch and walked away. We did not see her for like 15 more minutes after that and I needed a refill to. But she stormed off without even giving me a chance. And while we are being obviously ignored by her I see her being super friendly and nice to all the other customers around with a way better attitude than she was giving us. She ignored us throughout our entire meal. We even had to get the attention of other wait staff to help us out. We got the order for drinks from anotherwaiter then Tammy came to our table with the drinks and walked away.she then ignored us for another 20 minutes while we sat there waiting for her to return. Then she finally shows up and just drops off our check and walks away. At this point I'm just looking at my wife and she's looking at me and we are thinking "what the heck!"then she swings back around and I say " could I also get a box for my food and 2 malts." Because I never asked for the check and I was not done ordering. She looks at me with the most serious face and says "no." My wife shot her a dirty look as did I and she said "I'm just joking." Then she left and came back another 10 minute later with our malts and walked away. Without even bringing me my box. We did not see her the rest of the night. We had to flag down another waitress so we could get our check because at this point we had already been there for almost 2 hours and we wanted to go. So I payed at the register and, I'm kind of ashamed but, this is the very first time In my life that I've never left a tip.

What a hidden gem of a 1950s time capsule! Get a milkshake! They really take pride in making great food at fair prices. Super friendly service. It's a must stop. Open 24/7!

Atmosphere is retro cool. The service is very good and friendly. The food gets the job done but fairly average. We ordered eggs and corned beef hash 3/5 with pancake 2/5, and chocolate chip pancakes 3/5.

**A Nostalgic Gem in Phoenix - 5 & Diner** Stepping into 5 & Diner in Phoenix is like taking a delightful journey back in time. The 50’s theme is perfectly executed, from the retro décor to the jukebox playing classic tunes—it’s an experience that brings back the charm of a bygone era. But it’s not just the ambiance that keeps me coming back; the food is simply fantastic. I’m a big fan of classic breakfasts, and 5 & Diner delivers every time. Their eggs are always cooked to perfection, the bacon is crispy, and the pancakes are fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness. The diner-cut fries are the perfect side, golden and crispy with that old-school flavor that’s hard to find these days. Whether you’re looking for a trip down memory lane or just a great meal, 5 & Diner is the spot to visit. It’s a true Phoenix treasure that never disappoints. This review highlights both the nostalgic 50’s theme and your love for their classic breakfast with diner-cut fries.

This place is perfect, the interior is wonderful, and it closes late. Will be a good choice for a late meal. I got a tuna sandwich, but it was not as good as I expected. I’m not the fan of tuna they use here.

Google
Omg SO delicious! Absolutely got that "diner" taste, that great diner atmosphere, and superb service! Highly recommend their Love Me Tenders, they've got that thick-breaded crumch that we look for! They put GARLIC in their corn, I didn't even think of such a delicacy, very grateful! Thank you Tammy for taking care of us, you are such a fun & phenomenal hostess, thank you so much for taking care of us! Happy New Year!

Brooke H.

Yelp
I just had to comment on how great the staff and energy was in here tonight. It was like a time capsule, Tammy was a fantastic server. I got pancakes and chicken tenders - delicious (and their ranch was good, almost asked for a side to take home) I will be back!

Yelp
My sister and I were hungry in the area and wanted to try out this retro diner. However, we were quickly disappointed by the core elements that you come to a diner for--the food, the ambiance, and the service. Let's review. The food was subpar. My sister ordered a hamburger and I had mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was initially appealing, until I realized that it was practically on fire. It took about 30 minutes to cool down enough to eat it. My sister's burger was just alright. The ambiance was subpar. We were excited to be seated at a table that had a jukebox, that is, until the host informed us that none of the jukeboxes worked, and ours was no exception. It was about 10 pm when we dined and the restaurant was oddly dark. Not in a cozy kind of way, but rather in a "it's too dark to read the menu" kind of way. The service is where 5 & Diner truly let us down. Our waitress appeared only to bring our drinks and food out and to cash us out at the end of the meal. There were no refills or check ins throughout the meal. Strangely, another waitress was very engaged with her table, to the point of loudly and vulgarly chatting with them. It was....odd. We won't be back. It was odd and disappointing.

Yelp
Five and Diner. I will confess right here, right now that the family and I have dined here more than forty years. We keep returning. Now mostly on oil change days at the local car dealers. We are dwindling as our septuagenerians and centenarians depart. November 26, 2024 We branched on a veggie omelet, hash browns, a fruit bowl, coffee and orange juice, accompanied by Elvis, Otis Redding, the Supremes, etc from the juke box. The hash browns alone were enough to keep me coming back 40 more years. Brown and crispy - a hash brown model. The omelettw was chock full of veggies, oh and coffee just fine. Our server Kevin was attentive, keeping the coffee flowing. He concluded our meal with a16% senior discount, covering taxes. Thank you Kevin.

Yelp
A good bet for some safe, filling comfort food. They have most everything you can think of to eat that a classic American diner would serve. Open 24/7, I bet the diner would be awesome after a late night out or as a hangover cure, as well as for some good simple lunch options. This is a 50's style diner with hula hoops available on the dog-friendly patio and juke boxes at most booths. There's a long bar with swivel chairs facing the mirrored wall with fun, 50's style murals painted along the wall and a specials menu board displayed. Exterior looks like a huge silver Airstream with colorful lettering advertising menu specials & classics. Service is very friendly and attentive. This is a casual and friendly spot. We ordered: - Diner Wings with ranch and blue cheese (nice big bowls of dipping sauce, wings a little dry but ok) - Guacamole Burger with Fries (very delicious and juicy according to Hubs. Our server mentioned they have won awards here for their burgers) - Patty Melt with Fries & Ranch (bread and meat a little on dry side and melt could use more flavor but solid, filling choice) - Cali Benedict & Hashbrowns (perfect Hashbrowns and delicious, moist and flavorful eggs according to my daughter) - Coffee (strong and decent, not like some of the watery stuff and some diners) cream and sugar options at the table - Cherry Coke (yay! My fave and a diner necessity) - Sourdough French Toast with whipped cream and blueberry for the table (nice but a little dry for me. Maybe we should get butter also next time. A butterscotch or berry syrup would be a good addition too) - Apple Pie a la Mode - Apple Crumble (Housemade! Yummm! Look at the big scoop of vanilla ice cream. This was so good) - Root Beer Float (comes with an extra cup of root beer to pour into float as needed) There is a men's and women's restroom available for customers inside. A huge private parking lot is available with lots of parking options surrounding this diner.

Yelp
Ate the Garlic Mushroom burger so quickly, that I missed the photo. Sorry. But it was tasty! Nice to have the option to trade fries for a small salad. The chocolate cherry shake was probably too much for the meal size, but yea, I went there and not sorry. And a nice surprise with bits of cherries in the bottom as well. Love the 50's motif. Always fun. The indoor seating is limited but there are quite a number of tables outside as well. Come on it for some friendly service and solid food options. My first time here was a nice one.

Sonja W.

Yelp
Good diner, with beautiful decor, good food, and great staff. The place is cute and the service was great. I've got the light and fit menu, egg white omelets, meatless chicken, and salmon alternatives on salads. Homemade dressing on salads, make salads and sandwiches for take out. Brown bag lunches to go. I will definitely return but this time maybe for dinner.

Yelp
Hey guys! I came in with my girlfriend, sister, & sister's bf. We had an amazing time & the food was hot, fresh, & honestly pretty delicious. Tammy was our server & she went above & beyond for us! :)

Natalie M.

Yelp
This entire review is for Desma, who was genuinely one of the most lovely people I've ever met. I'm not kidding when I say I'm allergic to almost everything. I cannot eat at any restaurant ever. I DID get to eat here with my friends at 4am because Desma herself found and cut me some carrots and celery. Doesn't seem like a lot, but that gesture was genuinely one of the kindest things I've ever experienced. The service for that alone is unmatched. Thanks, girl, if you're seeing this!

Jessica R.

Yelp
The atmosphere is neat and a true diner experience. I wanted lunch so I had a plain ole cheeseburger which was 1/2 lb and juiced and cooked medium which I requested. The fries are good but there could have been more seasoning added. Everything came out hot. My bf had hungry diner and it was good. The pancakes aren't fluffy but they are still good. Overall i was skeptical since I had read the reviews but it was good. Only thing I didn't like was hearing the employees bitch about each other but our server Cindy was nice. If it's busy, you won't see them much. Sorry I didn't get any food pics.

Diele K.

Yelp
After a concert, a new friend we met suggested we go here after the shower to eat. Tammy greeted us when we walked in and provided exceptional service. She made a great show turn into a great evening. We all enjoyed our food, and the diner atmosphere.

Taylor H.

Yelp
The only reason I am giving this place a two star is because of the customer service which Billy made the experience a little bit better! It's a cute retro American style restaurant, with probably the worst burger I've had.

Christal M.

Yelp
Good Food & Great Service Everything hit the spot 5 stars I'll definitely come again

Liliana A.

Yelp
Finally a place that serves an American breakfast for a decent price (7.99)! My partner got am omelette and he loved it. We will be returning for dinner to get a burger and shake because how could you not at a cute diner like this. Loved everything inside and the service was great and quick.

Steve M.

Yelp
Plenty of parking, indoor & outside seating with shade. Good variety of selections, not overwhelming, simple & concise. Sat at the counter, Tara was my server, she is very attentive, friendly with a great smile. Ordered 2 eggs scrambled with sourdough toast, bacon & hashbrowns. Excellent, just like grandma would make, just crispy enough potatoes & perfect bacon. Clean, retro & good!

Art E.

Yelp
The best meatloaf around. So many restaurants have taken meatloaf off their menu, but the 5 & Diner takes pride in providing exceptionally good food, and this one is called Cadillac Meatloaf. Rightly so, it's very delicious and served hot! Everyone should come enjoy this!

Jeff I.

Yelp
I'm not sure why, but my experience at 5&Diner was excellent several times in the same week! I'm local, and had visited years ago - but for some reason had not gone back for breakfast. My recent experience was GREAT! Delicious fresh bacon, eggs, good coffee (Ok it's diner!) and the old time '50s is just a great breath of fresh air from all the other breakfast places that are swamped, over priced, and to be honest are not at all any better. (Can you spell avocado toast?) My compliments to the 2 waitresses and the waiter that served me several occasions. Courteous, funny, and very obliging without having to ask! It's service and food that meets a high standard in my book. I'm back to becoming a regular. Thank you 5&DINE!

Yelp
Amazing food even for it being 11 pm on a Sunday. Great service too. Can't wait to come back

Olivia P.

Yelp
Our party of 5 was disagreeing on where to grab brunch after church, so we chose 5 & Diner to accommodate the breakfast cravings and the burger cravings. The inside is very cute. Looks like a typical old fashioned diner. Cute booths, cushions, artwork; everything! Perfect for a ladies lunch gathering or just for vintage vibes. There was no wait when we got there at 12pm!! We were sat quickly by a friendly server. He was so on top of things, always refilled our drinks, brought us everything we needed. Even offered to get me a to-go cup for my ranch dressing (it's really good ranch, trust me!!) We all enjoyed our food so much. I got the wings under "appetizers," it's 12 traditional for $15.99! The top ones were a bit dry but there was sauce on the underneath layer and pooled on the bottom of my plate so I wasn't mad. I also had a heaping bowl of ranch dressing! No complaints from any of us. Our server was incredible! He made a joke to one of our friends and we all died laughing, he earns 5 stars from me! I wish I remembered his name. The general manager also stopped by our table and checked in on us. Enjoyed our visit, thanks everyone!

Kirke R.

Yelp
Horrible experience last night! Understaffed and mediocre food. Our bill was incorrect and the server never fixed it. This place used to be great. Horrible now. I won't return again.

Steen B.

Yelp
Classic diner with fun ambiance, great food, portions are big, and great people working there all very friendly. You won't leave hungry.

Brent J.

Yelp
Ever since I moved to Arizona in 2018, I've been wanting to try here. Had the opportunity to check it out after church this morning and I was not disappointed. Classic old school diner atmosphere, . Our server, Spike, was awesome; with jokes and witty banter. It's hard to find a classic turkey club done right, and they knocked it out of the park here. Will definitely be back to try something new

Erica W.

Yelp
Over the past decade we've eaten at 5 & Diner numerous times, specifically after late night shows/venues and the diner food always hits the spot. Through the years, however, customer service continues to decline here with rude personnel, very long waiting times for orders even when there's only two tables, and an overall feeling that changes the vibe from kitschy to b*tchy. Won't be making the stop in here any longer- such a shame as it was a PHX staple for late night eats!

John S.

Yelp
Whoever made this country gravy knows what they're doing. There is only one other place that serves a large portion of Chicken Fried Steak and that place is called Black Bear Diner. What I love about this particular place is their chicken fried steak. Breading is crispy and meat is tender just the way I like it. I will definitely keep this spot as one of my options for chicken fried steak. Steamed vegetables are good. Mashed potatoes are good. Garlic toast is good. Worth the price!

Ron R.

Yelp
Atmosphere is retro cool. The service is very good and friendly. The food gets the job done but fairly average. We ordered eggs and corned beef hash 3/5 with pancake 2/5, and chocolate chip pancakes 3/5.

Stephen J S.

Yelp
I line the hungry diner meal. However when I am in the mood for something else I get their guacamole burger it is one of the best in Phoenix. The burger and a chocolate malted and I'm in heaven

Jason C.

Yelp
Place was straight trash I don't even know how they been in business so long first I ordered me a Philly and went it came out it had nothing a Philly has on it and they literally put maybe a tablespoon of steak in the sandwich and 1 cup of peppers no onions hardly any cheese so I sent it back and got me a burger asked for it medium well with bbq sauce and onion rings when it came out shit was burnt af and dry af they must have kept pressing the hamburger when everyone in the restaurant business knows you're not suppose to press the burgers as it drains all the juices out place a shit hole good place to take a homeless person if u feel like feeding them beside that they not good for us regular folk

Katie T.

Yelp
It could be amazing but I've been here for 45 minutes - waiting for a shake (yes a shake) and it still hasn't arrived.

April A.

Yelp
Love the old diner look and feel, open 24h. The cheeseburger was exactly what I wanted so good. The put some seasoning in the fries which I love. The chocolate shake is so yummy I don't normally have shakes but I drank most of this one. The food comes out fairly fast. Our waitress was thorough and nice. Wasn't the biggest fan of the fish but that was just me.

Haley D.

Yelp
Skillet was soooooooo good that I HADDDDDDD to put my meat in it 10/10 would recommend to a friend

Ambroz A.

Yelp
First of all, let me start off by saying we were in the lookout for something quick being that we had both gotten off later in the day and everything was closed. the food was OK we had gotten a chicken tenders meal, and strawberry shake the servers were pretty busy it took about 15 minutes to get our food mind you it was not too busy, so I don't know if they were having problems in the kitchen . Other than that the place had a good vibe. The old-school retro aesthetic is very cool and soothing for a late night meal.

Iris N.

Yelp
5 & Diner is one of those comfort food places I tend to go to when in need of something that can stick to your ribs! Tammy was very attentive and friendly! I was having a bit of a down day, and she managed to turn that around! Now, my partner and I have been indulging The Wolfe Pit's reviews on frozen Country Fried Steak dinners. Well, I thought I would do this one better and actually try the real thing! I'm not a connoisseur of Country Fried Steak, but you don't need to be one when this was one of my first real experiences with the actual dish. I will say, from the onset, my meal came out hot and ready in a short amount of time, about 15-20 minutes, but it was fairly fast since it was just the beginning of dinner service. Now, my partner is Southern, born and raised, and had indicated that the meal looked like it was supposed to, especially with the amount of gravy present on the steak. The breading was crisp and crunchy, and the gravy was very rich and savory! I added a lot of pepper to mine because I really like pepper anyway, but the gravy itself was very good! The mashed potatoes were on point and paired well with this dish! The veggies of the day were pretty good, fair, but the star was the King Kong Country Fried Steak! Well worth the price, filling and when I say it's filling, it really is stick to your ribs filling! Take it to go if you fill up quickly, but the bang is worth your buck! So, if you have a chance, come down here with the efficient and friendly service and staff, equipped with a pretty excellent sense of humor. Just make sure to ask for Tammy and get yourself a milkshake while enjoying the classic diner atmosphere! Down to earth and festive, you won't regret it! Just make sure to arrive before the meal rushes. That way, you can look over their awesome, classic American menu and maybe get a banana split to polish off your experience! Bon appetit!

Cory P.

Yelp
I've been a regular at this diner for eons, with a brief hiatus when the food hit a 'meh' phase. Recently, we rolled the dice and popped back in. To our giddy delight, it was a culinary comeback! The service? Imagine a friendly, slightly exhausted waitress who could probably not win a smile marathon but she was kind. My pal demolished a Reuben that seemed to whisper sweet nothings to his taste buds, and I dove into a turkey spinach omelette with a pancake sidekick that could've worn a cape. We both agreed that the flavors and experience were worth our penny. I'm now waving the flag for this 24-hour diner. Clearly, the owner is some kind of food wizard, knowing that top-notch grub and service are the secret sauce to customer loyalty. It's like finding a unicorn in a world of donkeys. Who wouldn't want to keep coming back for more of that magic?

Randy B.

Yelp
First off thank you for being 24/7 364. Some peeps still appreciate the night (especially when it's 115 out during the day). Now as a guest if you closed 3-5 more days a year I think your staff would appreciate it and the majority of your clientele wouldn't mind one bit. Now on to the goods. 4:15am on Tuesday the 6th of Aug. 2024. Service from Amanda- on point Greeted quickly - oj and coffee ordered. Oj out within a minute. Fresh pot being brewed for me so 4 minutes (and thank you). Food ordered with fear of my sour tummy. It's been sour for too long. Anyhow grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad and a couple of removals (tomato due to acidity, ez mayo). Beyond hit the spot. David in the kitchen nailed a simple yet delicious chicken sandwich which is actually hard to pull off (dry, lacking flavor, slightly undercooked) but David killed. I'm finally eating a full meal thanks to him. I got my butt up and tipped David a 20 spot. As the big Arn said "I'll be back". Yelp - if you don't value my review then kick rocks. I've lived within a mile of 5 n D neighborhood for over 42 years.

Alannah M.

Yelp
Food is always good. Service impeccable Tara Ashley and our favorite Delia best waitress you can ask for. Love love the old times ambiance of the train car restaurant. Prices good too don't forgo a shake.

Robert M.

Yelp
Food is good, I had the Barbecue burger, it was cooked to order. The burger came with an ample amount of French fries. The service was two fold the waitress was quick to take our order and very friendly, food took quite a while to get to our table. Ambiance setting is 50's diner, wish the music was a little louder, slightly cramped. Overall experience was good

Jim B.

Yelp
I always enjoy coming here! The food is great. The service is equally great. The waitress T*mmy is my favorite. She's highly efficient and super outgoing and fun to be around. Always neat and clean, too!

Audra D.

Yelp
Use to always be my late night stop. Happy to see it is still open. I love this diner. Even if the table jukeboxes don't play anymore. Prices are still good. Waitress was friendly. My breakfast for lunch, was just as yummy as I always remember. I hope it'll always be here, when I visit home now.

Savannah J.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here after a morning hike up north mountain. After practically dying from the vertical climb, we needed some fuel to regenerate. The coffee was immaculate I drank like 5 cups. He got the hungry diner meal and scarfed it down in under 10 seconds. He was indeed a very very hungry diner. Service was speedy and we left as two very happy campers. His review is "Great food and great vibes :)"

Jon M.

Yelp
When I walked in here first thing I noticed is it looked very rundown, with cramped seating and bad lighting. Their property uptown on Northern has more light but also has a poor design, layout and furnishings. The server staff was also grumpy and below average like the other location. I like the 50s retro diner concept but this chain doesn't deliver unless you're filming a horror movie. The best of this genre I've eaten at is Bings Burger Station in Cottonwood.

Rob K.

Yelp
My mom and my aunt visiting Arizona absolutely love this place. The menu is fantastic, the specials are great, the prices are very reasonable for the massive plates you get, and they're open 24 hours. And the staff is super friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend.

sydelia o.

Yelp
Great service and environment. Very coca-cola forward, loved the omelette and pancakes. highly recommend!

Willys R.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch today. Tara immediately sat me and took my drink order at which point she was pushed aside by Kevin. I place my order, that was the last time Kevin came to the table Tara took care of everything else keeping my drink full clearing the table but of course Kevin showed up with the bill... next time I will ask specifically for Tara. My burger came out perfect and the fries were hot what more could I ask for. Thanks again Tara for your outstanding customer service!

Martha D.

Yelp
I would like to tell you about my first encounter with Tammy. The first time I ever went to the 5 & Diner it was with a group of Hispanics, Afro-Americans and LGBTQ. This was after we all came from karaoke. As a group, we were a little noisy singing the songs from karaoke. The Waitress) Tammy a blonde came to our table to take our order. She could have been rude and ask us to leave if we didn't keep the noise down but she had a great attitude (Friendly and Cheerful) and was actually listening to what we were singing and told us that she had a playlist of the artist songs that we were singing. She took her playlist and played it through the restaurant sound system. So we got to listen to all our favorite songs by our favorite artists for at least a couple of hours. Once things quiet down a little she came over to our table and started to talk to all of us, not ignoring anyone. I am Afro-American and a senior and right then and there I decided this was going to be my restaurant. I just thought Tammy was the coolest. I have been coming here for two years now and I have never seen Tammy treat anyone rude. I was just there tonight and there was a customer who had finished his meal and was sitting on the bench outside of the restaurant asleep and Tammy was very concerned, so she went and checked on him to make sure he was okay and alive. That's the kind of person I would want as a waitress. I have to say the 5 & Diner has great!!! Food and great service. Note: Waitresses are up there with Firemen, Police Officers and Teachers. They get paid very little for their services and they get more complaints than praises.

Yelp
Walked in wasn't spoke to when seated or handed waters then the waitress went on to talk to what I believe to be the manager, based off the different clothing. Saying "did you get that Hispanic couple while looking at us (the couple) The service here was unprofessional and rude.

Yelp
This is the second time I've come here, the first time was great and I loved our server. The second time was not good at all our server "Amanda" with the red hair was probably the worst service we have ever received. We had questions about the menu and could tell if we had substitutions it would get messed up so we just got a milkshake to share. It took around 15-20 minutes to get our Oreo milkshake which was warm and melted by the time we got it. The only thing we asked for was another straw but never came back, so we had to go up to the counter to ask for the check. I asked another server what her name was and she asked if everything was okay but the other waitress was right there so I didn't want to make a scene if she heard me. The food is good and restaurant is wonderful but the service from that waitress was not good.

Yelp
What a great find! It is the perfect picture of an old fashioned diner with the red booths and juke boxes at most tables. We patiently waited to be seated while the only waitress was dealing with a difficult patron. She was patient and kind to him while taking his order. We were seated at a big booth and our drink orders were promptly taken. We all ordered ice tea. She came back to us right away and told us she was brewing a fresh batch. She took our order. We were 2 couples and ordered sandwiches to split. When we received our food she had the sandwiches split into separate plates. That made it much easier for us. The sandwiches were great and. Y friend even commented that the French fries were crispy as she had ordered. We ordered a banana split and the apple crumble for dessert. The ice cream was very creamy. A good time was had by all! We will definitely stop back when we get to Phoenix
