I'm sorry that my schedule only permits me to come here 1hr before they close, catching the staff while they're cleaning (place smelled like disinfectant when eating) but I'm glad to have tried this place. It's not bad. MUCH better broth than their other El Monte location on Valley Blvd. --The other Valley Blvd location in Alhambra is closed. Food came out quick: Within 5 minutes of ordering. The Bún Bò Huế had just the right amount of meat:noodles ratio, and as mentioned earlier, the broth was good. Their Egg Rolls came out piping hot! Freshly made!!! Their Nem Chua was pretty good, with just enough vinegar that it's not too sour. Nice and soft, and everything was mixed in so well with each other that it looked liked marble swirls, with a whole black pepper to add a kick. I'll try to come back earlier next time. Best of all though, after you eat, you can go shop at the grocery store.

Google
This place is an amazing hole in the wall and I don't understand how this is not a franchise by now. I love trying new food places and not my first time having Vietnamese but I will say that this IS my first time having it. This was by far one of the best experiences I've had! Jimmy served us and was amazing! My best friend and I had a great time and we will definitely be coming back out! Thank you so much! ( I tried the Bun bo hue, men lui, banb beo 10/10 I also had Penny worth and basil seed drink and they are also amazing!)

Google
Cheap owner, do not buy fried rice in this restaurant, only rice, no meat at all, rices are very dry, fake picture show in the restaurant. Do not come back to give you business. Hopefully you have a worse business or close down soon. This restaurant should called zero star restaurant. You are not worth 5 star, worse party tray fried rice in your restaurant. ALSO, MY FAMILY MEMBERS ARE NOT RECOMMENDED THIS RESTAURANT. THEY SAID YOUR BEEF NOODLES SOUP TASTED BAD THAN BEFORE, NOW THEY DIDN'T COME BACK. SHOULD CHANGE BUSINESS OWNER.

Bún Bò Huế & Bánh Bèo very delicious 🤤 The place looks very clean and nice Staff very friendly and polite

Google
Friendly staff and service, nice area to sit and eat. Food came very slowly. Got a combo plate to try some of their rice cakes. They were decent but I think I’d get something else next time. Okay prices for the portions, good for a pick me up.

Google
Love that they are on UberEats and Postmates! Makes it so convenient to order whenever I want. I like scheduling my delivery as well for lunch or dinner. So convenient. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 The food is so tasty and glad I can get them through delivery now as well!

Google
The food here is horrible, waitress suggested a fried dish that was so hard to chew, it chipped my tooth. Turns out it was last nights left overs they wanted to get rid of. First and last time I will eat at this establishment.

Google

Yelp
5 Stars Hue is inside Thuan Phat Supermarket's food court. It's a great place for sampling noodle and rice dishes from the central Vietnamese city of Hue. Bun Bo Hue: The broth is made from pork bones, fermented shrimp paste, and lemongrass - and it is savory and kind of spicy. It is a hearty bowl of really tender slices of beef brisket, a big pork knuckle, and soft blood cubes. There are soft meatballs with giant bits of peppercorns. The rice noodles are thick and cylindrical. After adding the mint, peppery rau ram, purple banana blossoms, and sprouts, the broth has a nice herbal tinge. Banh Ram It: This is a large golfball sized savory mochi snack. The steamed rice dumplings are both crispy and chewy. The dumpling is steamed and then deep fried until golden brown. There's a filling of shrimp. It's double stacked with a soft and chewy topping of more sticky rice, shrimp, scallions, and fried shallots. A little green chili pepper is literally fire, extreme heat, which makes me happy. Dining Area: There are a dozen tables in front of the counter. Parking: There's a large parking lot outside the supermarket.

Yelp
The restaurant is located inside the supermarket. I love these type of small places that just pump out quality food. One of the better bun rieus I've had in the area. I used to live in OC and grew up with my dad making this and this place has my approval. They do catering and have a few other dishes I'm sure will be good

Yelp
I have to take a star down only cuz they charge 50 cents for a cup of hot water before it was free. The pho is still good, lots of meat and the portions is pretty good. I eat here only when I take my 84 year old father out shopping at the supermarket. I guess it became our regular thing to do, eat the combination pho and then go grocery shopping lol. But we just ordered the pho and nothing else. Everything now is so expensive, even for a cup of hot water lol. We still come back here once a month cuz my father likes it and is the only time I get to spend with him and he enjoy a bowl of noodles every once in a while lol they also expand the restaurant, there use to be a crystal store next to the restaurant. Now is part of the restaurant. They making so much money, they can't even give out a cup of hot water lol

Rhina M.

Yelp
This is a whole in a wall place that our friend took us to. The bon Bo hue is really good. I do wish the soup was piping hot though. We also had the fresh spring rolls. The sauce was the bomb! I do wish they serve banh mi as well. The service was ok but could be better. The ambiance could use some work but it's tolerable. Just a heads up they charge for water in a cup.

Magda N.

Yelp
This location is located inside of the supermarket. A little confusing to find once inside b/c their banner/sign is everywhere. But walk toward the end, they have a big seating area. You can call ahead for party platter and pay when pickup. Good price and they're structured with published menu. Makes it easy on us!

Kimberly T.

Yelp
Ordered a platter of the lotus salad for a party and it was so good! This is the type of leftovers I don't mind taking home for myself. There was a good amount of shrimp, it was organized and presented beautifully, and my friends really enjoyed it (even the ones who have never had a Vietnamese salad before). I called to order ahead, service was good (especially for an authentic Asian place), it was ready for pick up when I got there. More of a pick up and go type of place, some tables to sit A bit hard to find- inside a market on the very end to the left, it would've been impossible to find if I didn't read Yelp reviews beforehand Tip: They accept Apple Pay!

Trinh T.

Yelp
It's open again!! I'm so glad my favorite bun bo hue place in SGV is back. I think they were closed due to some construction going on in the supermarket but things are running normally now. Mon - Fri 9am-7pm

Yelp
Vietnamese foods are a lot more than just Phở or Bánh Mỳ. Our food cuisine always focuses on freshness of ingredients, and balance in taste, and is overloaded with veggies and herbs. Our trip to Thuan Phat Market always ended with delicious food from 5 Stars Hue Restaurant.

Simon C.

Yelp
Located inside a Vietnamese supermarket and offers street style foods. Interesting but nothing felt special.

Megan P.

Yelp
Food tasted amazing and authentic. The restaurant is located at the entrance inside of the supermarket and I saw they had Banh beo so we stopped by as it's my favorite Vietnamese dish. The rice cakes were soft and fresh and I liked the chicarron they put on top for crunch. The bunbohue was flavorful and tasted good as well. Service was nice and let us sit on the side of the store because we had a shopping cart so we could watch our stuff.

Natalie T.

Yelp
The bowl was quite big and they were generous with the meats. They had all the right meats for this dish. The broth doesn't have the bun bo Huế aroma. The broth was good looking in terms of color and presentation but lacks flavors. Water is $1.50/cup

Joe O.

Yelp
I wasn't a huge fan of Vietnamese food until I tried this restaurant. The combination of pork, noodles, peanuts and veggies works so well! When they closed, I was sad because I couldn't find an another restaurant that had the same flavor. I'm glad to hear they are open again.

Kwok S.

Yelp
We were shopping I the market and wanted a quick bite. They gave me the wrong order and when I got my actual pho, it was the most bland with little noodle and meats. For the price of about $13.50, you would expect and average bowl of pho. Overall, I wouldn't recommend food here. Go to Pho Filet around the corner to get you a nice tasty bowl of pho for a better value.

Teela Y.

Yelp
Tiny place but food is good. We come here when we are in the neighborhood. The restaurant is small very casual. They probably have more togo business. Service is alright, it quick and easy. Nothing fancy. My favorite thing to eat here is the grilled pork bun with the fried tofu thing. I've tried this in other restaurants around here and like this place's the most. My husband likes their bun bo hue. They also make a bunch of other things like rice cakes or noodles or salads for party trays. I've ordered it a couple of times for my office parties and everyone enjoyed it.

Aileen H.

Yelp
The Bun Bo Hue here is so good. The flavors were all there and it felt like I was eating at home. They give a good amount of bean sprouts, shredded banana blossoms and herbs. I highly recommend ordering this. For the spring rolls, so amazing and smells so good. You take the skewers and cut them in half, put a little of everything in the wrapper. I would recommend putting in the meat when it's still warm so it can soften the rice wrapper a bit. I've tried both locations - this one and the one on Valley and definitely love this one more.

Yelp
I have been to this place twice in July 2022. It's inside the supermarket building as you go in. There is always a nice crowd of locals eating so that's a good sign. Young people show up and order to go. I had the red soup and the pho. Also had the little tamales, the spring rolls and the bbq on a stick. Comparatively, the pho has a great selection of meats but the broth flavor was subpar. The red soup is tasty and spicy. The meat assortment is varied and I could not finish the leg with the skin, neither the curd blood. The spring roll is big and thick but somehow it fell apart on me. I had to finish it with my chopsticks. The bbq stick was tasty and filling. The little tamales (x6) were tasty -- If you bring a friend to help you two of them are enough to get the amazing taste -- They are tiny and see-through glassy and the contents capture the boiled banana leaf flavor in a way that no banana ever does. I would think a Minion would agree. My friend ordered the assorted plate -- cold items. It looked amazing and they emptied the plate. I commented that they should order more because they might be hungry again soon. That's how we ended up with tamales, spring rolls and bbq sticks. Their iced tea is super! $1 Lunch for two: $40 (pho, tamales, spring rolls, bbq sticks, assortment plate and iced tea). Service is efficient and considerate. After our meal, we walked next door and bought tea, candies and beef jerky. People go there and buy the beef jerky to send it overseas to their familiesd (shipments leave the harbor on Thursdays). Plenty of parking outside.

Yelp
這餐館還是蠻值得推薦的!不論堂食或外賣都可,主要以越南口味為主。可以一試!堂食區也算寬敞,乾淨,整潔。 It's recommended. No matter eat-in or take-out depends on your choice.

Solomon K.

Yelp
Stopped by here to sit & eat for the first time with my mom after shopping. We both ordered the bun bo hue and at best, it was all right. The soup barely had any flavor and the slices of meat were beyond dry. Kinda sad because we were both craving it. Still going to order catering still tho

U U.

Yelp
Cheap owner, party tray fried rice has no meat at all, rice are very dry. You business should called zero star restaurant. You are not worth 5 stars restaurant. All fake picture shows in the restaurant, do not come back to give you business. Hopefully you business close down soon or have a worsen business.

Joey J.

Yelp
I ordered Nem Lui party tray and after I got home I discovered that they gave me was Nem Nuong. I lived too far away to drive back for them to correct the order. I will be disputing the charges with my credit card company.

Arsker B.

Yelp
The food tasted not bad but the employees were not friendly at all, especially the young lady behind the counter. The restroom is super dirty next to the store. The worst part is even the cup of water charges Come on!? a cup of water also charges?

Danny T.

Yelp
I had their BBH and it was very tasty. Their bowl was big and had lots of protein. I chose to go with basic protein so I didn't have pork feet and blood cubes. They gave bean sprouts and bananas blossoms as their vegetables.

Thanh N.

Yelp
Best bun Bo hue in town and also other central dish. I alway eat here with my family.

Karen L.

Yelp
I hate writing review! But yesterday which was 5/15/22, I made 3 party tray orders for my daughter birthday. 1) seafood noodles 2) nem cuon 3) nem chua. And I paid $146.00, very very disappointed! The noodles look like old noodles it was in pieces like left over no taste no flavor very sloppy! The nem cuon look like someone is new rolling them rolls (fat and rice paper broke in pieces when you pick them up), Nem chua no complaint. Never will I order from this business. Recommended from a friend to support this business and this friend knows the owner (SMH)! Please see pictures

Yelp

Yelp
The food is good but the service is so so bad . They need to hire waiters that like to serve the public , everyone of them there have very poor service and is very rude to their customers. They seems to hate there job

Levi L.

Yelp
My go to place everytime I get my groceries done in El Monte. Their chicken satay is really good and the Pho are very tasty. The pork hock might be a chewy at times, but still doable.

Janet N.

Yelp
I ordered Bue Bo Heu. The taste is salty, no fragrant of lemongrass. I asked for a couple of water, and she said she would charge me .50cents on top of my food for the tap water. The food is not that good. I tasted much better somewhere else before. They didn't bother to changed the price on to go menu. It shows a lots different than the restaurant prices. Will not come back. First and last time for me.

Katelyn T.

Yelp
Order take-out of bun bo hue & banh uot cuon thit nuong heo. I don't usually ever crave bun bo hue nor do I really order it often because it's not a dish that I absolutely love. But I thought the broth was quite delicious, better than other ones I've tried. The beef wasn't too chewy. Felt like it was the right softness. The meatball was good, too. Banh uot cuon came with a kind of peanut sauce. There's like 5 rolls. I think I prefer to eat this with fish sauce though.

Guru Y.

Yelp
I am from Central Vietnam. Banh canh here is terrible. 4 meat balls and noodle that does not look anything like banh canh noodle. Soup is ok, but no topping. The soup have bun bo hue smell. I try their mi quang before, soup stock not bad. Again not much topping. How they are going to survive skimping on topping.

Mandy H.

Yelp
Love Bob Bo Hue & 5 Stars Pho here and the staff are all very friendly. Love the ambience here as well and will come back for more!

Khoa N.

Yelp
We regularly come to the other 5 Stars Hue and really enjoy their food. We live an hour away but still come 3-4 times a month. Last week, we saw they opened a new location so we decided to give it a try. We came on 02/16/2022 around noon and the restaurant was empty, only us and another party of 3. After we ordered and asked the waitress to heat up my baby food (we brought some food for him as always and never had a problem asking the restaurant to heat up food for my baby) but she immediately replied "We're very busy" so we just fed him a cold meal. So we ordered 'Hue-style vermicelli  (Bun Mam Nem)'', 'Hue-style steamed pork patty (Cha Hue', 'Steamed rice cake (Banh Beo)', 'Rectangular Dumpling (Banh Nam)' and 'Steamed Rice Paper Wrap (Banh Uot Thit Nuong)'. When they brought out the pork patty (Cha Hue), 3 were hot and 2 were cold (ice cold) but we just said to ourselves "They're just open and we won't finish everything, let's bring it home and save it for tomorrow". The Hue-style vermicelli (Bun Mam Nem)  was bad, super bad. The vermicelli that they used was old and dry (probably from the day before), we asked to change and the waitress brought it back inside and we can hear her telling the chef to microwave the vermicelli. She brought the new vermicelli out, same noodle, only a little warmer but still dry and hard. She explained to us how Hue people eat that vermicelli (dry and hard?). We were from central Vietnam and we have known this type of vermicelli since we were young and we prepared our own vermicelli at home so we knew the difference between old and new vermicelli. The Rectangular Dumpling (Banh Nam) also was not cooked properly, it was still white and the leaves still smelled fresh, a really bad flavor. Finally, the Steamed rice cake (Banh Beo) was bad also, it was hard and dry (probably from a day before). We regularly make all of the above dishes at home and eat at many Hue Restaurant (Include another 5 Stars Hue location) so we can tell how bad the food was from this location is. Before, I always drove to OC for some good Hue food. Since 5 Stars Hue opened, I was so happy but today was a big disappointment.

Lillian Y.

Yelp
The food was good. I just don't like the fact that they charge me $.50 for faucet water everywhere else is free for ice water
