"The folks behind the Bay Area mini mole empire, Los Moles, opened a new spot in Albany called 5 Tacos & Beer. If you couldn’t deduce from the name, the restaurant features a frequently-changing menu with five kinds of tacos (like cochinita pibil, pollo con mole, or rib-eye), and plenty of beer. If you want to try them all, you can get five for $21.50, or 10 for $42.25. Order one and a side of handmade corn tortilla chips with guacamole for takeout, or enjoy it all with live music on their sidewalk patio." - Lani Conway

I came here right before happy hour, 3 pm to ?, and I liked it! The food was good, but the chips and guacamole are top notch! 👌🏻I ordered some drinks and had some tacos. Good tacos and good drinks! Happy hour pricing is 20% off regular prices. Would recommend and return!

The ribeye taco is Hella good. I also tried the Octopus taco and that was pretty good too. Beans and rice could be a little better, but good. I tried the ceviche with Octopus, scallops and Tuna and I thought it was good, but I wish there was more lime and flavor. But it was good. The service was good and we didn't wait long at all to be seated and to get all the items we ordered. I'm looking forward to visiting again, soon.

This is a small place without a lot of seating, but there is some outdoor seating, which is nice if the weather is good. Indoors there’s a handful of tables and a very small bar big enough to hold maybe half a dozen people. They have a lot of different types of beer, and pretty decent Mexican food. Their tacos are good, but they’re not so good that they warrant the prices they charge, which is just too high. If you don’t mind the price, that’s not a problem here.

This is a gem of a place! I’ll drive from Marin to Albany to dine here again! The service was excellent, and the food did not disappoint! I loved the Grilles Pulpo Ceviche and Rock Cod Taco. The Prawn Taco looked divine.

It is always lovely to see friendly and welcoming Crystal. She is there most times we visit and is knowledgeable and so enthusiastic telling us about new things to try, the things she loves and what's coming up next! Many restaurants will offer vegan choices which just means it is minus something. 5 Tacos and Beers however gives us innovative and exciting new dishes full of flavor and actual vegan sour cream which adds a huge factor of deliciousness! This weekend I tried enchiladas with a tangy Verde sauce, cheese and lots of deep red beets and a side of black beans with vegan sour cream which were wonderful! The restaurant itself is a fun place with plenty of seating both indoors and out yet maintains charm. I love that on good weather days they open up the doors to let in fresh air and a view of the passersby and outdoor diners.

So we went on a Saturday. We were there before they opened and they were kind enough to let us use the restroom. We then went back outside to wait for them to open the brunch. Once we were taken to a table they wanted to sit us at a table too small for the amount of people that we had in our party. We asked if we could move to a larger table or push two tables together in order to accommodate. They let us but they seemed a little bothered by it. We then went and got our food. The food was great very tasteful not so many options. But the options that were there were really good. My brother had horchata to drink and the rest of us just had water. Who stayed for probably half an hour to 45 minutes during that time our waitress maybe game around two times. And was nowhere to be found when we needed her. No one asked if we needed anything or if we would like some more water. Or refill on our other drinks. When we were done we were waiting for the check but it never came so we went up to the front to find out where we paid we were able to track down a waitress that took the payment from a handheld device. And she said she would bring the receipt to our table so after about 10 minutes she came back with the receipt and the bill for the remainder of the people in our party. We did not know beforehand that they added on 18% as a tip regardless of your party size. Not to mention we were charged $35 per person when the flyer in the bathroom said 25 as well as on their website. So needless to say we waited for our change because we would not be adding more of a tip. After we received our change for our bill she did not bring us the total amount in fact only brought us the dollars owed and left out the cents. I know it's just cents what is the principal. We will not be returning. We saw this place on social media and thought we would give it a try.

The ribeye taco is to die for and so is the chips, gauc and both of the salsas. The tamarind margarita was my fave. Would definitely stop by again. The service was excellent.

Google
This is the best place for margaritas and tacos! The ambiance is great..low key, good vibe and great service, in an attractive setting. Our server jeannine was awesome! She was fun, chatted and got to know all of my family and literally catered to our every need. When I asked about different types of tequilas, she recommended a favorite and it was awesome. She is the best! And so is 5 tacos! Would definitely recommend and will be back for more.

Yelp
LOVE the food and ambiance here. Service is great and everyone is so kind here. We sat on the patio by the fire and it was perfect for a casual bite with friends. Will be coming back! Prices are pretty standard for the Bay Area also- there's cheaper options but you also pay for the ambiance here. Only thing is the tortillas on the tacos were a little dry and the carnitas were a little fatty for my liking. Otherwise very good

Yelp
A very nice place to have lunch outside on a warm fall day. I had the crispy tacos and my friend had the fresh salad. Disappointed that their non-alcoholic beverage list was on the skimpy side -- no ginger beer or ginger ale. My tacos were delicious although many might consider them appetizer size. See my attached photo. The salad looked good although not efflorescent. All in all a tasty meal for the money but was left a little on the hungry side after. Service was good although busy.

Yelp
This time we signed up for their frequent membership. Still love this place. The cocktails are so good. I could live off their chips and salsa. The chips are cooked fresh and crunchy with enough salt. The service is efficient and we got our food pretty fast , we got here around 12:30 pm on a weekday. The restaurant has ample seating and it has a lot of light inside. I like to sit by the window.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately there wasn't much to like. The staff wasn't welcoming or friendly and the food was just ok.

Yelp
Gracias Luis el servicio fue excellente y la comida muy rica Nuestra comida mensual entre hermanos y cuñados excellente eleccion

Yelp
Nice lunch! Cheery atmosphere! Started with a delicious house margarita! Perfect! Ordered a grilled halibut; grilled chicken & a short rib fried taco trio $19 They were really good!

Yelp
Love this place! It makes us feel like we're on vacation every time we come. The service from Luz and Emanuel is so warm and friendly. The beef quesabirria is my favorite! My husband loves the fish tacos. Oh, and don't forget to get your Cadillac margarita. Sign up for the reward program. You'll always get something off on your bill.

Yelp
Brunch is AMAZING!! We had chilaquiles with house made chorizo INCREDIBLE and pork tamales with a lemon sauce and eggs DELICIOUS. Both came with black beans and guacamole and salsa. So WONDERFUL. The server was so kind and friendly. Beautiful seating outside on such a nice day. They also had cafe de olla which is a FANTASTIC cinnamon coffee.

Yelp
I thought the chips and salsa that was brought to the table was complimentary like I'm most restaurants--no. $7 each so we ended up spending $28 on chips. It was happy hour so 20% off. $20 for a bowl of "ok" soup and the worst taco I've ever tasted. I took one bite and spit it out. I didn't get a glass of water until after I finished eating. Won't return.

Brian R.

Yelp
Solid spot. I was saddened to learned the cochinita pabil was a seasonal dish as it was phenomenal. The variety of tacos are great. Small flavorful tacos that pack a punch. The chips and guac are excellent. Anytime you get hand made chips, you know the foods gonna smack. The pastor was great, fish tacos were good, micheladas were even better

Yelp
Came Cinco de Mayo. Had a live band playing and super packed but we got seated right away. The kitchen was pretty busy but we got our food pretty quick considering how much we ordered. Got the large Michelida drink (didn't take a photo) but it was probably 3 beers. The Clamato was light and the chamoy on the rim was sweet, the Tajín was a little salty to my liking. Would also prefer the drink to be a little spicer but wanted to save the spice for the tacos first. Churros and vanilla ice cream came out 2nd, out of order to have desert first but I didn't mind it. Churros were crunchy and crispy outside and soft on inside. Came with a strawberry and that helped up the flavor and a hot and breezy day. Sugar and cinnamon was not overly coated. Went well with the plain Jane vanilla coldness. Ate it pretty fast cause it started melting almost right away. The birria and consomé came 3rd and the home made tortillas hit the spot. Don't need to double the tortillas at all, enough strength to not crack the taco. The pulled pork birria taco needed slightly more seasoning/salt. I enjoyed the asada birria taco, seasoning was better and tastier. The consomé was very clean, hardly any fat/oil, not very thick if you like thick consomé. I wish gave more consomé though, I drink that on the side as well as dipping the tacos each bite haha. Last is the line of one of each tacos. These tacos were much smaller than the birria tacos (2 biters) and handmade tortilla as well. The most interesting was octopus, cooked tender and first time having octopus taco. The fish tacos was my least favorite, it was very plain for me. Overall, the best was the asada and chicken had a grilled green onion and I love green onions, esp grilled. The deep fried fish taco was too greasy and all of the tacos were pretty dry. I recommend asking for salsa on the side, the lemon and sauce already in the taco was not enough. I enjoyed the vibrant pink radish (not spicy) and the pickled onions paired well with the tacos. Spent about $100 with tip. I'd come back but this time ask for extra salsa. The servers were very attentive and refilled our water when low. We didn't have to ask for water refills and we were surprisingly the 3rd couple to get seated and the first one to leave. Maybe cause we ate fast but our order was much larger than the other 2 tables.

Yelp
Food was delicious, and dessert was a plus. Music outside and lights made the ambiance nice . Our server Juan.R was great , kept checking in on our table and made my friends first time experience memorable.

Yelp
Abysmal service. Gave them the benefit of the doubt even though I saw some bad service reviews on Yelp. I guess they don't care because the business is booming on a Friday night. We were sat down without menus or the table cleaned for so long we almost got up and left. A couple near us actually did get up and leave. Oh, and did I mention we moved a chair ourselves after the hostess just dismissed us. We watched the server/hostess serve the tables that came after us with menus and waters as if we weren't there. When we were finally acknowledged, we had to ask for our table to be cleaned even though there were food scraps and water all over the table. We honestly should've gotten up and left but we already wasted so much time there so... Anyways, we got the taco plate of 5: you can only pick each flavor once: short rib, fish, pork belly, pollo mole, and rib eye. Pollo mole and Fish was probably the best. The chicken was flavorful, with rice and pickled onions, giving it a nice tang. Fish was also decently flavored. Short rib was also decent, albeit cold. Now the negatives: pork belly was unseasoned and tasted really meaty, and not in a good way. Rib eye came completely cold, so it was hard to chew through. The tacos are on a single corn tortilla, not double layered like taco trucks normally are, so it got soggy really quickly. $29 Chips and guac and salsa was decent. Chips could've been salted more, guac could've been a bit chunkier, with more onions/cilantro. Chips were not refilled automatically, we had to ask someone who wasn't our server. Our server never came back around to fill our waters or check in on us until he wanted us to pay and get out. $12 Sangria was the only good item to be honest. If you're coming for just alcohol, then their drinks are decent. $12 Mangonada was decently strong, but they could've given me a thicker chamoy rim, it was quite watery. Mango flavor wasn't prominent either. $15 Overall, I would not be back and I can't recommend it for the terrible service either. Food is not nearly good enough to make up for it.

Yelp
I thought this place looked familiar, but didn't realize I had been here before until I looked at Yelp (serves as a way to log where you've been also!). Came here on a Saturday evening for a quick bite, and enjoyed it so much that we came back for dinner the following night! Staff and Service: - Our servers were nice and quick to help us - All of the staff members seem to get along as well, which is always nice to see Food and Drinks: - Spicy Cucumber Margarita: spicier than other typical spicy margaritas, but it was good. I do wish it was a little less spicy though because the cucumber flavor was so good - Arroz Verde: this was so tasty and I'm glad I got it as a side to go with my meal. It is small, so would recommend ordering multiple if for a group (one is good for one person) - Pescado Frito: ordered this both nights because I thought it was really good. The first night, the piece of fish I got was a little small and didn't fit the tortilla, but the second night made up for it. Good flavor - Birria de Carne: flavorful and a good size. I had to ask for the consome because it wasn't brought out with my taco. Was a good addition when it came - Fresca: fresh, flavorful, bright, etc. A good salad that can be shared between 2-3 people as a side dish (or can be someone's whole meal) - Flautas: 3 whole Flautas cut in half with lots of toppings. - Chips: we ordered the chips with salsa and guacamole. The chips were probably some of the best restaurant tortilla chips I've had. They weren't super frail and fragile, they had good flavor, and they were warm. The guacamole was also good. And I enjoyed the salsa verde it came with. Miscellaneous: - Parking available via street parking - Indoor and outdoor seating available - Good for medium-size groups and smaller (I saw one table that had 8 people seated - this would probably be the max that could fit at a table)

Yelp
Have heard about this place from so many peeps and decided to finally give it a try! This restaurant is so cute and I love the decor. The host was super nice and friendly, upon being seated we let her know that it was our first time here, she let us know what were the most popular tacos and margarita flavors. To start we got the chips and guacamole which was so fresh & delish. We wanted to order the shrimp ceviche but they were out. For dinner, my parents got the rib eye tacos & a quesabirria along with a mint lemon agua Fresca & mango margarita. For my dinner: Short rib tacos 10/10 So freaking juicy and tender, was so hyped that I got the last two orders of it. Rib eye 9/10 Super good and love the flavors Pollo Mole 8/10 Had a really good flavor but didn't taste at all like mole But loved that it had rice & beans Flan 10/10 Was super bomb I loved it. What's great about this place is that you can def tell they're food is fresh and made to order. They also change their menu of tacos on a month to month basis which is cool to have something new to try. They also have a great happy hour & taco Tuesday specials so make sure you check them out!

Yelp
I love this place. The food is very good and I usually get a bunch of tacos. I mix and match them and it makes for a bunch better dining experience. The service is pretty good for my mom and Pop. It's really nice to know that people live locally and they take pride and interest in their community and they do a really good job here all of our needs were met. They have indoor outdoor seating usually because it's better for me and I can enjoy the fresh air and have a fantastic dinner On the menu is good for me, I'm not picky about my tacos, but I'll tell you these guys make it very interesting and I'll keep coming back. I've started using limes and lemons and I'll tell you it just brings out the flavor of the Barbacoa. I recommend going here and I will be back on my usual Thursday night

Yelp
I came here to meet some friends for a quick bite during the week. They suggested it, and it's about midway between where we live so it's a good meeting spot. Parking can be found, but it's slim. The total time for parking is 90 minutes I believe. The parking meter person comes around often enough to be on the lookout. I arrived first and got was seated in the back upper area across from the bar. It was somewhat busy for a Monday with about five to six tables already being serviced. There's some seating outside as well. I started with their sangria. You just can't go wrong with sangria. After viewing the drink menu and seeing Palomas were served here, I had to ask about them. They're one of my favorite cocktails, but I'll only have it if they use grapefruit soda. Unfortunately for me they only use grapefruit juice. Someone will enjoy their Paloma here. I mean, that is the original way to make it. I just like a little dazzle dazzle. The chilaquiles were calling my name but they're only served on the weekend. I wasn't too bummed out and I ordered the crispy chicken flautas. Flavorful. Delicious. Crispy. I love guacamole. I love salsa verde. That's the description and that's what I topped them with. I ordered the beans and rice on the side. This plate was like a gift to my hungry stomach that sometimes howls like she's on the brink of death. They have mimosa flights - 3 mimosas - and offer an array of flavors. Guava, orange, prickly pear and more. I'm not accustomed to seeing a flight of drinks served in California. This is the first time I've seen it on a menu out here, but I hope I run into more. I'll be back next time for brunch. The service was friendly and the ambiance was inviting.

Yelp
I went there to eat tonight, I heard about that place. Tonight is the first time. 1) Decor, modern look, nice and clean. 2) restroom modern look, has Toto toilet(toto is upscale brand for toilet). 3) Ordered Guacamole and chip, taste very good. 4) Husband and I both ordered 5 taco, 2 Tri-tip, 2 fish, 1 short rib. All the food arrived very fast. And food's decoration and presentation is nice. Instead of using a regular plate, they use a wooden block. (will show in photo). 5) I like the lighting in the restaurant, it is one slice of the wooden barrel and attached some lights to it. Will show in photo in below. 6) Waiter is super nice. 7) Also wed, thursday, friday. from 3pm to 6pm, is 20% off food and drink for happy hours. I just made it there tonight to try out in happy hours. Very good. 8) Their beer selection is very good according to my husband. Will return sometimes.

Lorenzo H.

Yelp
Came with a group of 6, got there during 20% off drinks and food happy hour so that was nice Good: food taste good and authentic, chips were hot and fresh, fast service, gluten free options, drink options, I got the Paloma hard kombucha it was good. The table got tacos and quesabirrias. Flavor good Bad: the portions are bite size, literally 2 bite tacos and 4 bite quesabirrias. It was weird wasn't expecting mini tacos , when we got the bill they didn't say anything about gratuity being included we had to deduce it for. The tip options being so low when we were paying. That wasn't cool. I wouldn't personally ally return for mini tacos but our group had a good time

Yelp
The vibe was amazing at this restaurant. A Saturday evening was a great time to enjoy the experience! The outside seating area was clean, bright, and comfortable. The cool breeze was starting to drop in temperature, and our server was quick to blanket us with heat from the heating devices outside. Regardless of time of year, there are heating elements available.. It was a perfect time to order their GOUSE FLIGHT. These are 5 / 5 ounce servings of Mexican beers. Wow is as simple, yet descriptive, as it can get. These 5 samples certainly partnered well with the 15 tacos we ordered for a party of 5. See the pictures to get a feel of the vibe, taste, and full experience!

Yelp
The name says it all! At this establishment, you can find tacos, drinks, and other Mexican dishes with a modern twist. My family and I stuck with the namesake and enjoyed our dinner. My Pop made reservations for us (not necessary but still nice). The layout of the restaurant is great. It's located on the corner with ample seating inside for all sizes or outside on its covered patio surrounded by succulents. It's casual, the ambiance is laid-back, and Mexican decor is posted on the wall. Our waiter was impressive, friendly, and a pleasure for my family to talk to. Our food and drinks came out relatively fast as well which was a plus! My family and I got way more than five tacos haha. My Pop got a Beef Quesabirria, my Mom got the Tabla De 5 Tacos, and I went for the Taco De Nopales. It was my first time having nopales (cactus) in a taco and I found it slightly crunchy and slimy though I wish it were more seasoned. I had the Camarones Al Chipotle from my Mom's platter which was my favorite. There was plenty of small shrimp and it was well seasoned. The salsa on the side was nice and semi-spicy. I recommend the platter to try all their offerings. 5 Tacos and Beers is not your typical hole-in-the-wall, fast service, and affordable taqueria. This is a Mexican restaurant with locations in Berkeley and Walnut Creek geared towards a different crowd but still decent. The prices are on the higher end for the portion size so be mindful of that. Parking is street or residential. It's a good option on Solano Avenue for food or drinks but not my first choice.

Rudy M.

Yelp
Our server Emmanuel was great today! our food and drinks came out perfect. The food was phenomenal.

Yelp
I've been scouting this place for about a week now. Every time I pass by. I always stick my head in the door and have a look and see what other people are eating. The food looks so amazing that I knew that I had to come back and taste it because their presentation was off the hook. Coming up to the front they have nice outdoor seating on days when it's warm, and you want to be outside and enjoy the ambience, but when you go inside, it's sort of a split level area and a bar that has unequalled selection of tequila and mescal's in the area. I already knew what I wanted to order just from having looked at the menu in the past. But it is a special occasion for my daughter and wife. The interior was really well done. I liked what they did to decorate and make it more of a cantina style but in a really upscale way. Luis was our amazing server. He came up very charming and very informative, and he was also helpful in selecting just the right thing to have for dinner. I've started off with a Michelata beverage. But here it's a liter which is quite large and so they called up Michalitro. It's probably the best one i've ever had inside the United States and outside of Mexico. It's a blend of seasonings and spices along with things that they put on toothpicks to eat what you're drinking, and it comes with some. Ice in it, and it's made with beer and like clamato juice. Also, for beverages, a Coke, and a Paloma cocktail. For dinner, we had the Tabla de 5 Tacos, Nopales, and the Quesabirria. Stunning presentation and OMG delish. It was all perfect. See my pics. We all had a super time, excellent food and will return soon. Yaay Team 5T&B.

Yelp
Great food, great service, lots of seating indoors and outdoors. There's usually music playing indoors so it can be a little noisy but we don't mind. Same ownership as Los Moles but I prefer 5 Tacos. A bit on the pricey side but that's to be expected around here. They have taco specials on Tuesdays and happy hour as well. The quesabirrias are delicious and incredibly filling. 1-2 per person is more than enough. I've also had their tacos which are good, but inferior to the quesabirrias. As the name suggests, they have an extensive drink menu. Personally, I love ordering the micheladas but have also branched out and tried their rotating beers. Both were 5/5. Note that parking on Solano can be very difficult, so your best bet is likely to park on a residential steer (free) and walk over. There's a parking lot behind it (entrance on Cornell) but it's very small. I've yet to order something on the menu I haven't liked!

Mariana D.

Yelp
Decent cantina for a quick bite Parking sucks but the outdoor high top tables make up for it I recommend the mango margarita and Birria tacos

jenny a.

Yelp
It's always fun to try a new place and if they have tacos, even better. The tacos were small but very tasty. Our server was nice but could've been a bit more attentive. I don't like servers that hover but here we had to flag him down a couple of times. Overall a good experience.

Krysten H.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night with a group of 12. We had a reservations that was made prior, and they canceled it the same day at 4:30 when our reservation was scheduled for 7 pm. When we arrived we did a little shuffling and they were able to seat us all together. The food and drinks here were great, loved the fresh tortillas. I ordered the ribeye and pork belly, but they ran out of the pork bells so it was substituted with the birria.

Nadine Y.

Yelp
Located near the bottom of Solano avenue, expect either side streets or street parking. This place gets pretty busy during the weekends, so sometimes it's good to go during the week days. They have outdoor seating that is covered by umbrellas and also have heating next to you, so you don't get cold. Indoor seating is also available, but be warned - it is VERY loud inside that it's really hard to have a conversation. Service wise, our server was really nice and attentive to when we needed refills on our drinks or if we needed to order anything else. I will say that they do sweep under your seat and table while you're sitting there rather than wait for you to leave. I could tell that everyone that works there are friends because of the jokes I see...but sometimes the jokes they do with each other needs to calm down as it does create even more noise in the environment. Food wise, their prices are expensive for tacos in my opinion. Each taco is about $6 and their quesabirrias are $7. Now, they do offer deals where you can get 5 tacos for $27 and 10 tacos for $54. We ordered the elotes which was decent, ceviche and my husband and I both ordered 2 tacos + 1 quesabirrias. The only tacos that was in my opinion worth the $6 was the beef tongue as it was tender and melted in my mouth. The quesabirrias were fine, but also very hot that I had to let it sit for around 10 minutes before I could eat it. For 2 people, our bill ended up being $80 so please do know this place is expensive to eat at.

Jeannie L.

Yelp
Yesterday was our third time here. Each time we go the food is pretty good. 4 out of 5 stars. The service however is very poor. Our waiter asked if we wanted dessert. We said we're set. Isnt that the universal cue for the bill? We sat there for half an hour. We tried to wave him over but he ignored us. In the end we had to ask another waiter about our bill. We settled it and left. The our original waiter chased after us in the street and asked if we paid. Ive never known such incompetence.

Yelp
12/15/23 We came in on a Friday night a, around 5PM I'll start with the good: The food! We got chicken flautas, and a couple of tacos and a beer and a margarita. Our 4 year old son ate a side of rice and beans. The food also came out super quick! Now the not so good; We walked in around 5:00, didn't know it was happy hour but that was a plus. The place was not full or remotely busy by any means. There were 3 empty booths. We asked for a booth since we have a kid with us, we are denied and told they were reserved for larger parties. Instead we were given one of the very small tables meant for two people. We had to add a chair. Our kid does better in a booth than a hard chair but , Okay. Whatever. We order our food and drinks and our menus are taken away immediately. Our food comes out and barely fits on the very small table we were given. We eat the tacos and the flautas and the plates are so big and we all have drinks and so it's hard to maneuver around the table. Specially with a toddler. They don't really check on us, because we actually want to order more food so we continue to wait for the server but they never come. We wait for the check but they also never come. We have to flag our server down. I would've ordered more tacos and another margarita, had I been given the opportunity. The food was so good! 5 stars for the food, but the service I rate a 2 since it was so lackluster. I'd come back, and hopefully the bad service was just a one time thing.

Yelp
This place is awesome! We started with the chips and guac which were delicious. The chips are so crunchy and fresh, and the guac was very flavorful. For my main, I got one pork Birria taco and one shrimp taco. The Birria was my favorite! So juicy and flavorful. The service was a bit slow, but they gave the mothers are our table flowers for Mother's Day which was so thoughtful. Great spot!

Yelp
Wow. Amazing place. Had the 5 tacos- my wife had the Mexican Avocado toast brunch special. Guacamole and chips for starter. Awesome Beer list. Had to go for the churros and Mexican Coffee for dessert!!! So stuffed had to take a long walk. If you go ask for Crystal!!! She will be your guide for culinary delights. Really it was great food and drinks.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing! The tacos were so delicious and so was my margarita. Came here on my lunch break and 10000% enjoyed myself. I order the beef birria taco and ribeye taco. House margarita. My server Lus was GREAT as well. Super attentive and friendly. I 10/10 recommend this place :)

Yelp
I came here with a group of 5 on "Meatless Mondays" and I thought that would be great because I don't personally want meat and it meant I would have more options. Everyone else I was with, however, was looking forward to things they had seen online like the table of 10 tacos and the quesabirria. We asked to be seated outside and although there was only one other group outside, it took them a while to get our table set up. We had to ask for water and for the heater to be turned on. Then the person who the other party of 10 on the patio was apparently waited for showed up and they all yelled "Surprise!" After that, between the party and traffic, we could barely hear each other talk. When we received our menus, everyone was disappointed and I immediately asked the server if my friends could please have a regular menu as I was the only one interested in the vegetarian options. He said they did not offer the regular menu on meatless Monday. Since I saw 4 meat taco options on the menu, I asked again if they could just use those for the table of tacos or if we could try some of the other regular menu items and he said no. I clarified with him THREE times that no one would be able to order what they were looking forward to and everyone I was with was incredibly disappointed. C'est la vie right? So we bucked up and ordered some drinks and decided to make the best of it.... Until the food came out that is. I will say that most of the plates had a nice presentation, but honestly, the portions (especially at this price point) are unreasonable. I paid $16 for two little taquitos. They were ok but I really felt cheated. The other female in our group took one bite of her food and was done. Then another male I was with asked if he could have it because he was starving at ate his plate in two bites. The only one in our party who even said he would give more than one star was the guy who just ordered a bunch of tacos a la carte and he only said it was ok until he got the bill! Everyone agreed that the food was bland and overpriced. We had to go get gelato afterwards because everyone was still hungry. It was incredibly disappointing to my stomach and my wallet. Although I could not recommend this place to anyone, I really want to find something positive t say about my experience but it's difficult. The presentation of some of the dishes was nice, others looked sloppy, and the drinks, although also pricey, were ok.

Yelp
We came by 5 Tacos Tuesday night because, well, everything else closed at 8, and getting off work at 7:30 would have left little time to eat. We were pleased to find that 5 Tacos closed at 9, so we thought we'd give it a try. I didn't even look over the reviews (which I always do)! Tuesday, as it turns out, is Happy Hour Day: you get access to all of the Happy Hour options all day long (rather than the other days just 3-5:30). What luck we had! I ordered the Pollo al Pastor and Cochinita Pipil (pulled pork) tacos and my friend got the Carne Asada. These are definitely street tacos (they come on banana leaves), and are tasty concoctions served on corn tortillas. Really tasty. Great salsa complements too. (As was the guac, which I talk about next.) We also got the guacamole and chips. The guac was really good, but the chips were flour tortilla chips, which I'm normally not a fan of, and they were kind of hard as well. I wasn't super happy with them. Nor was I happy that they cost $12, which kind of blew out all of the savings we were otherwise getting from the Happy Hour options. I also ordered their margarita. I liked it enough that when I was done I ordered another. Our server said he'd ask the bartender to make it awesome just for me. (Whatever that meant, but I took it as meaning that it'd be extra strong, which it was.) Speaking of our server, his name was Raul. What an awesome server! He was helpful at all times, spent a lot of time at our table talking with us (and put up with my bad Spanish; tons of Spanglish at our table!), and was quick with a joke or a friendly jab. Great guy! For dessert, we ordered churros and they were extra yummy: just the right amount of crunch on the outside, and a soft and chewy inside. With a great, sweet dipping sauce. Raul was quick to tease me about my anglicized way of pronouncing churro. I responded with a drawn-out trilled "r", to the great amusement of everyone around. Did I mention that Raul was a great guy. We were seated outside at a nice table. There was a little chill in the air, so when a table close to the outdoor heaters came open we wanted to move. No problem for Raul, and he and support staff helped us move. We really enjoyed our time at 5 Tacos, and will definitely be back!

Yelp
I ordered food to be delivered, I waited a very long time. I called GrubHub and they said I had chosen to PICK UP. I was devastated... it had been a long day. But I called 5 tacos and it was still there, so I went to pick it up. Deciding on the way to order 2 new shrimp tacos b/c the ones I ordered had been sitting there for an hour. No way was I comfortable eating that. It was sad, horrible, wasteful all around crappy. I got there, and they just... made me some more tacos without charging me. Even though it was my mistake. Even though I offered to pay. I am loyal for life.

Yelp
Yesterday Nina and I met here for lunch. It had been on my mental list since it opened in the space that used to house Little Star and other subsequent restaurants. I drove past the evening they opened and the scene was lively, w/ a band playing and people eating outside. We decided to share 6 tacos, since the host said they were small. We ordered the 5 taco plate and one quesabirria. Nina opted for fish, chicken and beef tacos, while I opted for the Surtidito de Cerdo, chile verde and the beef quesabirria. When the tacos were served we were surprised at how generously proportioned they were. We would have been fine w/ two apiece. I was happier w/ my tacos than Nina was w/ hers. She found the fish overcooked and the beef a bit chewy. I really liked the Surtidito de Cerdo, which had an assortment of carnitas cuts, and the quesabirria. I didn't find the chile verde particularly interesting by comparison. Because Nina wasn't pleased we are unlikely to come back, although I may return w/ other friends, because I liked the two tacos a lot.

Yelp
This popular spot on solano avenue is a good spot for brunch. This corner spot is ideally located with great outdoor seating and an open indoor setup. They have some popular Mexican and American specials for brunch with avocado toast, French toast, waffles, chilaquiles, omelettes and Benedict's. They have an unlimited mimosa option as well. The Benedict's were unique and I would try them again. Tip: The chilaquiles were a little low on sauce and I would recommend getting salsa on the side to make up for the dryness. Service was a bit spotty but probably since they were busy. A good option for brunch and parking is plenty and available on the streets. Not too many coffee options for brunch but plenty of beer and other cocktails.

Yelp
Nice little taco spot in Albany I stumbled upon. It was a hot, bright Saturday and everyone was out and about. The bright colors, outside dining and fun ambiance made this place look great! I enjoyed the food but man are the servings smaller than expected. Honestly you could get bigger and better at your local taco truck. And not as overpriced. I think this is more a spot where you want the ambiance and atmosphere to take precedence over the grub. You're paying for the sparkle and lights that's for sure. Great spot for dates though.

Yelp
I really struggled with the rating that I gave here. Let's start with the pros: The food was absolutely bomb. My friend had the 5 taco plate and I ordered 3, which included a birria taco (my personal favorite). I also ordered a mezcal Paloma, which was easily one of the best I've had. It was Smokey, strong and made with fresh ingredients. Now the cons: The service was pretty terrible. No formal hostess and multiple servers approached to sit us (which was the only time they were helpful), but kept saying "5 more minutes" or "I'll be right back" then a different person would appear. It just felt jumbled and confusing. My biggest issue was the service overall once seated. After 20+ minutes of waiting, a server appeared and asked if we'd been helped. We said no and she just said okay then walked away. We were very confused as she continued helping other tables, walking past ours and ignoring us (not even a comment like "ok I will be right back to help you"). After 30ish minutes, we flagged her down and put our drink order in. Again, it took another 15-20 minutes for my cocktail and my friends mezcal flight. The flight was haphazardly dropped on the table and then the employee just walked away. There was no description of the order to drink or anything. When our drinks finally arrived, we haphazardly called our waitress to place our food order because we were concerned about the next time she'd be back. Honestly, after writing about my experience, no good food is worth a return in my opinion when the service is as bad as it was. I really struggled with 2-3 stars just based off of the overall service and experience. So disappointing!

Yelp
Wow who knew I would like vegan tacos! The food is delicious, menu is very simple though. Their beer selection is hefty! They have happy hour which I really like. Chips and guacamole are to die for. Parking is pretty plentiful on the street. Outdoor and indoor seating. Service is decent. Kinda pricey but the taco flights are worth it. Ambiance is chill yet cute.

Yelp
Every time my fiancé and I walk down Solano, we keep telling ourselves that we need to try 5 Tacos and Beers. Took us 2yrs to finally place an order with them through Doordash. But as they say, better late than never! Chose the pickup option for our Doordash order, and our order was already packaged and waiting for us when I arrived. The hostess was very friendly, and quickly identified and handed me my order when I asked. For our 1st order ever with 5 Tacos and Beers, we opted for the following (starting with the most preferred on down): -Flautas de Pollo: consisting of 3 very crispy, perfectly fried, quesadilla-size flautas. All filled with guajillo adobo, shredded chicken, red onions, and queso fresco. Topped with cabbage, and sitting on a refreshing and delicious bed of fresh guacamole, with a side of salsa tapatio. Highly recommend this dish if you have not tried it yet! -Pescado Taco: They use catfish for the fish protein, and it works really well. The soft, yet sweet taste of the fresh fish compliments well the light guacamole, pickled carrot, cabbage and salsa chipotle that come with the taco. -Pork al Pastor Taco: Delicious pork with grilled onions, cilantro, salsa taquera and a hint of pineapple. Plentiful indoor and outdoor seating available, and heated lamps are available outside for when it gets chilly. Free street parking is available, however Solano itself tends to get very busy. Recommend turning into a side street and parking in the residential area.

Yelp
Was in the area and the aroma drew me in. Such a lovely space, with plenty of indoor and outdoor (heat torches provided) seating. Had no trouble getting a seat, and the staff was very attentive. Settled on the shrimp ceviche, pollo fajita taco and the Vampire Kiss to wash it all down. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavor, I left feeling satisfied and not overly stuffed. There is also a happy hour menu, unfortunately none of the items were included. But if you are a beer connoisseur this place has you covered.

Yelp
Went there for the first time for brunch and it was amazing! Food was delicious, drink list was expansive. I have the Mexicano eggs with corn tortillas and was savory, fluffy, so yummy. We sat outside but there is a lot to seating inside as well. Service was quick and I recommend the chips, salsa, and guacamole too.

Yelp
Located on the corner of Stannage and Solano.. Street Parking. Indoor and outdoor seating. While ordering, chips, red and green salsa, and guacamole came.. We get complimentary guacamole? I'm instantly impressed. We shared one of everything vegan and I continued to be impressed. It was all delicious. Even cocktails.. They offered with mezcal or tequila. Every staff member we came across from the hostess to our server to the busser were happy and nice. The weekend brunch menu wasn't very vegan friendly but the regular menu was. There's other locations in Berkeley and Walnut Creek and I hope they're just as good.. This Albany location was pretty great so the bar is set high. Truthfully, the name 5 Tacos and Beers didn't really sound like it would be that great but it was.

Yelp
I came here a few Saturdays ago with a group of 8. We made reservations just in case but there was plenty of seating. We came in at 11:00am. There was also parking right up front. First off, the service was amazing! I wish I knew the servers name because he was patient, courteous and helpful. Everything that was ordered between all of us was delicious from the food to the drinks. I personally ordered the Chorizo Con Huevo. It came with refried beans and potatoes. I also got a side of tortillas. The tortillas were soooo good! The dish was cooked perfectly and had a nice season to it. The potatoes were soft but also had a slight crisp to them. I also got the bottomless mimosas. Mango, guava and orange flavored. Every time I was about to finish one our server came with a filled one. I tried some of my friends birria tacos as well and those were amazing. The whole experience was great. I will definitely be back.
