Used to love their chili chicken. So decided to pick up couple orders today for a gathering. Glad I chose not to order more! Sadly, this time the quantity was much less in both containers, in addition to the chicken in both containers being dry (usually it is well sauced)! In the past the quality and quantity of the chili chicken has been great and I’ve recommended this place to everyone. The last time I went for a buffet, I thought the service could have been better where we weren’t being pushed around! That experience and now this, I’m not sure I’d be too keen on returning!

Google
The food was good, and the service was ok as they were under staff. Also, they did not clean water from the floor even after telling them multiple times. We went on Thursday evening with a group of 7 adults and 4 kids, good part they had a kids chair and also a crayon for them to play. Drinks: Flying horse Corona Kingfisher Pina colada mocktail (7/10) Mango mojito mocktail (6/10) Appetizer and soup Paneer Kebab (8/10) Paapdi chaat (7/10) Tomato soup (6/10) Entrée Soya chaap masala (9/10) Methi mutter (8/10) Kaju gravy (7/10) Malai Kofta (8/10) Hakka noodle for kids (7/10) Bread basket (10/10) We ordered a bread basket, which was a mix of garlic, onion kulcha, cheese naan, butter naan Desert (complimentary by restaurant) Gulab jaamun (6/10) Ras malai (6/10) Overall, the place is worth visiting for good Indian food and have good time.

I went for a quick lunch while working in the area. The food was excellent, and the restaurant was clean and looked nice. I ate Chicken 65, Goat Saag, and Garlic Naan. The Chicken 65 was so juicy and tender, it just melted in my mouth. I get this at every Indian restaurant I go to. Every place does it a little different. I think 5 Tara may be my favorite yet! The Goat Saag was very good. The flavor was just right, and the goat was falling off the bone. And of course, the garlic naan. It was so light and fluffy, and the pungent aroma of garlic made my tastebuds do a little dance. Garlic truly is the greatest food ever discovered! I have 5 Tara saved now, and I will come back next time I’m in the area!

Google
The food here has been amazing. They bring out fresh bread and curries for every meal which makes it an amazing experience. Look forward to eating here every time I drive by this area. Abhishek has been a great host. The place is clean and affordable.

We decided to check out 5Tara after seeing them win Best of Loudoun so many years in a row, and they absolutely deserve it! This place is perfect for a nice date night, with its warm ambiance, amazing service, and food that’s packed with authentic Indian flavors. We tried the Butter Chicken, which was rich and creamy, the Vindaloo, which had the perfect spicy kick, and the Lamb Chops, which were tender and full of flavor. Their dals, chaats, and veg kebabs were just as incredible, bringing a variety of flavors to the table. And the naan was freshly tandoor-fired, soft, fluffy, and absolutely perfect. They also have a great selection of authentic Indian drinks, beer, and Rupee Beer, which made the experience even better. And for dessert, we had the Gulab Jamun, Rasmalai, and Kheer.

Google
Great food, using fresh ingredients, served in a comfortable environment. Mulligatawny Soup, Nan, Lamb Kurma and Chicken Kurma always exceed expectations. Spice levels as requested without a concern of over-doing the spice level. Not all local Indian restaurants do these all well. Cheers to the team that was "on point" tonight.

The food tasted good and portions were also good. Our server was attentive and suggested us great choices. Ambience was great as well.

Google
I ordered from this restaurant today. Chickpea curry. I ordered for takeout so this is from that experience. The gentleman that helped me was kind but not professional. I had to ask for the terminal to pay, then ask for a pen. When I reached for the pen he purposely dropped in on the mat on the counter for me to pick up. Ok, that was strange. He walked away before I could hand him the signed check and never said thank you or goodbye. So I signed the check and left. THE FOOD The food is not good the rice was clumpy and the chickpea curry was regular at best. The Chickpeas were not done, they were crunchy! I am very disappointed and will never spend my money here again. Bad service and bad food. I am not sure how you can come back from that.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing service. Extremely friendly and passionate about their food which is the best Indian food in Leesburg. Note: when selecting level of spicy, their hot is fucking legit!!

Yelp
Amazing place in an amazing part of Leesburg. It's situated right in the heart of Villages of Leesburg, which is I must say, a very quiet but enchanting place. The street is decorated with Christmas decorations, and to top it off, a big Christmas tree lit up in the middle of the street with a cute little booth for Santa letters box for the kids. It reminded me of Rockville Town Center vibe. Okay, so the restaurant staff were very welcoming and sat us right away as we had reservations. It's not a noisy atmosphere, but quiet chatter. The food was top notch. We ordered naan, Paneer Tikka Masala which came with rice, and for appetizers we had Vegetable Samosas, topped off with a mango lassi. It's the typical Indian ambiance to be honest, but I did like the extra attention given to us, almost felt as we were family. Ambiance - 8/10 Food - 7.5/10 Service - 9/10

Yelp
Excellent Indian food, but beware, they include 18% gratuity on all orders so we will never dine in there again, especially considering our visit this evening was some of the worst service we've experienced anywhere. Needless to say, the servers are unmotivated to do a good job cuz they're getting a decent tip regardless.

Yelp
Just an update because I got an awesome customer service when I had to unfortunately cancel a To go order. They were very understanding and I can't wait to order from them very soon.

Hitiksha S.

Yelp
This restaurant is such a 10/10. The food, ambiance, staff everything is freaking awesome. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone who wants to try Indian food. I went here on my birthday and it was one of the best birthday meals I have had. Thanks to the staff for being so nice and helpful to me as someone who doesn't know much about Indian cuisine and culture.

Yelp
I had such high hopes for this restaurant that was so well rated. First the buffet. What choices - over dozen entries that they did not skimp on the meat. It was clean and fresh. What was disappointing was the food was good. Not great. A very popular butter chicken was underwhelming. They did have 2 desserts. My seat was all torn up and the table had dead flowers on them. Service was fine. Payment scan gave me error. Overall a disappointment. Doughy I'll be back.

Yelp
More like 3 1/2 stars, honestly. My family has been coming here for a few years and we have really enjoyed it. My kids love the lentils and Naan. I've enjoyed various dishes through multiple outings. Steady over the last year or so I feel like the place is starting to get tired and due for a refresh. Seats and tables getting uncomfortable and beat up. Boxes and clutter everywhere near the back and bathrooms not to clean. The food is still pretty darn good but the restaurant itself brings the ranking down a bit. Food 4 1/2 stars. Ambiance 2 1/2 stars

Yelp
The roach made it even tastier. When i called they said its a cardamom or clove, It doesn't look like cardamom or clove

Yelp
I came here on a Monday for lunch on my own and fell in love with the food here. I had what they call the platter. They staff told me about weekend buffet, thought my husband and I should give it a try. We finally did today. They do not disappoint. Selection was adequate. All selection was cooked to near perfection (nothing is perfect ). We typically go to Ashburn for Indian buffet. We are super happy to have found a place that is 5 mins from home. They just found themselves a couple of loyal customers.

Renu A.

Yelp
Great food at restaurant and for catering. Look forward to going back. Also like that there is parking.

Yelp
So as far as Indian food goes this place had some good flavors that popped. During the week the brunch buffet was pretty decent although kinda limited. Staple Tikka Masala was quite good good kick ( kinda surprised). The naan was fresh ... also good. Went back again on a week day (Thursday) and the buffet was slightly expanded. The Goat Vindaloo was really tasty and had a really good spicy kick. The host Amir, who was very welcoming and full of information. He mentioned that they change the weekday buffet every day. Apparently the weekend is the full buffet experience. Well I will have give the a shot. Clean place and good tasty Indian food.

Yelp
The food is authentic and delicious . The staff is helpful and so pleasant . I can't say enough about this restaurant ! Just go and enjoy for yourself ! Try the chai tea it's absolutely wonderful

Yelp
Super super slow service even if you have a reservation on a weekend night! This place is packed full of families and it is great to see a diverse crowd out. The food is truly delicious so I can understand why. While this isn't one of the top five Indian restaurants in Northern Virginia is still pretty good overall. I tried the palak chaat which was kinda soggy and not as good as I thought. However the entrees here were great! The butter chicken was creamy, slightly spicy and not super hard pieces of tandoori chicken in the curry. I have definitely had more tender chicken in a butter chicken dish though. I also liked the malai kofta - the kofta pieces were huge and the curry was flavorful and different from other times I've had this dish. I can see why people love this place. I would come back and try other dishes here.

Yelp
For a fairly large catering event, I had a menu of butter chicken, daal makhani, etc., & reached out to Anil (Sam) who was patient in answering questions. Both he and Tushar (co-owner) worked with me in making minor updates. Anil & Tushar also sent final confirmations one-day prior. The food was delivered on-time and was piping hot. All items were well-prepared and tasty. Punj tara means 5-star or best in Punjabi, it easily meets its designated name by providing very good food & service.

Yelp
I've never been so impressed! Fantastic food customized to your needs, clean location and wonderful authentic atmosphere. Prices are a steal for the quality and anything you can think of is on offer here. For seafood lovers I highly recommend the fish vindaloo and chili shrimp and for those who enjoy meat, the lamb in phenomenal. Please do not order without ordering the super premium ice cream- pistachio kulfi! Also- if you're in delivery distance you won't be disappointed. The food is packaged well and arrives hot, where applicable of course. Dining alone? The service is welcoming- you won't feel pressured to talk but welcome to join in conversation. All around a fantastic experience.

Yelp
It's not bad, but it's also not great. It's okay compared to the places I've searched long and far for northern Indian food. I absolutely love northern Indian food, but this spot didn't nail it exactly for me. The service was as it should be, but the food was mediocre at best. The samosas were mostly bland with potatoes and peas, not too much of that spice or kick that I usually find in. The chicken tikka masala sauce was very subtle too, it had more of a creamy flavor and was watery. It also was pretty tough or didn't melt apart like how I've had it before, thoughI didn't mind the little pieces of tomato or onions, as that is the curry base, but the chicken wasn't seasoned to my liking.

Yelp
DO NOT CATER FROM 5 TARA INDIAN CUISINE They are ignorant of peanut allergy, almost ended up in a hospital with peanut reaction despite verbal and written agreements. Directors have no clue for soy, black beans and hazelnut allergies. Quantity for popular dishes like chicken and paneer are subsidized for cheapness. Tons of Ice is added to Milkshake to compromise. Uncooked Pakoda and frozen Dhokla served on tissue, no plates! No bowls for liquid dhal. Rabdi was sour and Undiyo was spoilt. No full plate accommodations for Jain and vegan food. Don"t waste your money nor end up in a hospital for such bad food!

Kimberly T.

Yelp
Worst service we've had in a long time. After placing order, we sat in our booth waiting for food that never came. No bread, nothing. Sat and watched the staff only prepare and serve take out orders only. A restaurant full of people and we all just sat waiting.... we ended up leaving without dinner. I will never go back there. So upsetting. On the bright side we had a great burrito at Bandit Taco around the corner!
google avatar

Trendy D.

Yelp
Got the To-Go order of Tadak. The food was a good portion but honestly I thought it was bland. I wasn't a fan... next time I'm sticking to usual here the butter chicken or tikka masala. They have really good naan! Also, going in is much better than to go orders.
google avatar

Vik S.

Yelp
Love the lamb vindaloo and butter chicken here! I like that the buffet changes. I haven't been to try it on a weekend so that's my next goal. Great decor and atmosphere. The staff were all pleasant.
google avatar

Yelp
insanely good indian food. good portions and friendlt staff. garlic naan and methi paneer was to die for

Yelp
So happy the lunch buffet has resumed. The food and service at 5 Tara are excellent. We have visited many Indian restaurants in the area and find this one to have the best quality of food and a very nice variety of vegetarian dishes as well as chicken and sometimes lamb or goat. Sonia, one of the servers, is always so warm and welcoming. she ensures we know about all the dishes and is quick to answer any questions or refill a beverage. if you en Indian cuisine, do yourself a favor and visit 5 Tara.

Yelp
5 for tasty dinner 5 for deco 0 for the services We arrived at 5:15 PM on Sunday April 23rd 2023, left the restaurant five minutes till 8 PM. We came in seated and everything look nice but while we waiting to give our orders the staff seems to have problem. The loud arguing between them were disruptive to the nice environment and make us really uncomfortable. Eventually they were two gentlemen, arrived and bought the situation under control and restored the nice and atmosphere Just be prepare to allow plenty of time for the service and the food to be ready because the foods were very good.

Andy N.

Yelp
Terrible - does not even deserve 1 star. First, as an Indian restaurant the vegetarian variety is absolutely horrible. Second, do not even think of coming here for lunch buffet. The staff and service cannot keep up. We regularly visit Indian buffets across the DMV, and we were left waiting for 30 mins for the most basics, and forget about the best entrees - they put out so little that it gets scooped up and you're again left waiting for another 30 mins. This is not an establishment that deserves any business. On top of this, I pointed out the long wait to the waitress who told me that they had a group of 10 sit 30 mins ago. What!? You can't keep up, on a buffet with an influx of 10 people? She was rude and didn't even offer to bring the one item we kept waiting for to us. Stay away.

Aashi S.

Yelp
Restaurant location is convenient and accessible. I ordered Aalu Tikki chaat, and the tandoor platter. The tandoor platter came hot and sizzling and the spices were well balanced. The reason for 3 starts is because being a punjabi restaurant, I expected to see more punjabi items on the menu, such as cholle bhature. Also, it was a tad bit depressing to come to a table with dead flowers. I looked around all the tabled and most tables had flowers that were dying. I'd rather see no flowers instead of dead flowers while I try to enjoy a meal.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch and they were serving buffet. You can order off the menu, but the buffet allowed the sampling of many dishes. DELECTABLE dishes!! I will absolutely come here again and again. This was my second time eating Indian good and this is by far the most tasty!! The service was excellent and the booth seating comfortable!! Great lunch!!
google avatar

Joann M.

Yelp
Our second time here! First time we found by accident ... note the location showing on Yelp map is wrong (I've reported) they are at the end to the left of the movie theater and wildwood pizza Worth a stop ... done interesting and refined recipes... this visit we tried a lamb chop that had a minced lamb sauce . It was scrumptious. We also had the aloo papadi chaat ... a nice version of the appetizer Found they were great on checking with us to ensure refills and that all was good
google avatar

Helik S.

Yelp
Solid Indian food, with complex flavors and spices. Definitely not the run of the mill quick food that you may find in some establishment. Service adequate - good recommendations from our water and a very kind server serving the dishes with a smile on his face! We started with vegetable Samosa - came with two sauces and a chutney that we were never offered in any other place. It was scrumptious - spicy hot but with unique flavors to leave you craving for more while extinguishing the mouth with water. The garlic Naan was a very generous portion, and baked in the oven to perfection: hot crisp yet soft all over, and no garlic held back :-) For entree we picked two staple Indian cuisine dishes: Chicken Tikka Masala, and Lamb Vindaloo. Both came in bowls of very generous portions accompanied by a big boat of an excellent Basmati rice. Again very unique spices dominated the sauce, which we fully with the aforementioned naan. The lamb was as soft as lamb meat can be, no traces of fat. The chicken had nice cubes, mostly very soft with just a few tough pieces, but overall very tasty. Although we were stuffed to the brim, we had to try the Goulab Jamun: "Fried golden milk powder balls, soaked in honey cardamom syrup, served hot." We only got two balls in a deep bowl. Seemed too small compared to the photo which shows many more balls. They were great albeit a tiny portion for the price. Overall we liked it enough to come back and taste more dishes from the very extensive menu.
google avatar

Christopher B.

Yelp
Food amazingly delicious. Our lady Sonia was so nice, friendly and kind. We love the food here and the place is clean. Would recommend to anyone. Would give more kudos to 5 Tara for service and tasty food.

Ryan M.

Yelp
Extremely expensive for tiny portions. Unfortunately probably the driest kabob I've ever eaten in my life. Lentil soup was just a cup of broth. We had better experiences here pre-2022, I'm not sure what happened. Also - do not trust the pictures they post with their online menu - the food and quantities do not match.

Brad A.

Yelp
This used to be our favorite Indian restaurant (food, service) until it was sold recently. Although the food is still good, the service is terrible. We had to wait forever to get served even though we were the only ones in the restaurant. Wait staff was friendly though. Also there were little flies that constantly pestered us, which often indicates the cleanliness in the kitchen.
google avatar

Jason K.

Yelp
We went for dinner and had Sonia as our server. My husband and I both wanted to try something new, but we don't really know much about Indian food. Sonia recommended the Lamb Rogan Josh and the Butter Chicken, which were both fantastic! Pro tip, don't skip on the Spicy Sangria, especially if Sonia is making it herself, she knows what she's doing! We will absolutely be back!

Alice M.

Yelp
Delicious food! Spice level and flavors were perfect. Our favorite dishes are chicken vindaloo, samosa chaat, vegetable korma and saag paneer.

Leo C.

Yelp
Never sure what to expect when having a buffet, but this particular buffet was included well-seasoned and extremely well-cooked Indian food. Everything from the cashew chicken to the kabobs was meticulously cooked and flavored. Sonia (our host) was attentive and extremely friendly and ensured that we received only fresh bread upon request. Would definitely recommend 5 Tara if in the area.
google avatar

Anne G.

Yelp
I have decided to go back and to amend my recommendation. After several false starts and poor quality products from this establishment in the past, I actually had a good meal from them about a month ago. The biggest problem they have is timing. This was a problem last year, the year before and any time I have tried to order from them. This last time I was waiting for more than an hour and half without ever receiving an order. Their former problems were more about not using good, if any, meat products and substituting large amounts of peppers to make up for their lack of meat. Their nan was also greasy and really bad. I gave them another chance recently and was very pleased with some adjustments they had made including having decent nan, and using real chicken again. However, my experience with a better experience was extremely short lived. The second time I ordered from them (in the same week), the order wasn't delivered because it took far too long. I am the first one to know that great Indian food is not cooked in a short time, but two hours in an unacceptable time for any restaurant to get a customer an order on DoorDash. It is not called Door Closed...it is called DoorDash which means an hour should be the maximum for any order placed less than 1.5 miles away.
google avatar

Tony M.

Yelp
Please don't blame the server unless the server is also you cook. Lamb Rogan Josh is a brown sauce and not a pale cream sauce. What I received the first time was not even close. It was closer with the refire.

Lisa K.

Yelp
Excellent service! We have had 5 Tara cater a few of our events and they never disappoint! For this last event, we had on 9/20 they again -- went above and beyond. The food was excellent (as always) but their presentation was beyond words. Thank you again for your 5 Star Service and excellent menu. We will be back!
google avatar

Deborah C.

Yelp
5 Tara is located on the corner near Cobb theatres. Not the best location for a restaurant at the Village of Leesburg since there are no curb front parking spaces. Dined in for 2 on Monday around 6 pm. Seated in a booth. Noticed a decent well stocked bar and catering trays (I'm assuming for their buffet). Crispy/3 sauces - I had no idea what the crispy food item with the 3 sauces was, but it was VERY salty. I only liked the darkest sauce (slight sweetness). Vegetable samosa (2 pieces of puffs stuffed with potato, green peas and Indian spices) - the samosa had most perfect fried and crispy thick shell and the perfect hint of spice. Tandoori shrimp - jumbo sized shrimp (approximately 8-10 pieces) with an overwhelming ratio of sauce. Absolutely delicious and I balanced the flavor with the rice and naan bread. Basmati rice - standard Indian dry and fluffy rice ** The naan bread is some of the best I've had! It was hot, smelled absolutely delicious, and tasted amazing! I could not get enough of their naan! + loved the soft Indian background music + received pleasant and friendly service
google avatar

Aimee F.

Yelp
I really like this place! The butter chicken is a solid choice. The portion was on the small side but honestly the food was so good and reasonably priced for how good it was, I don't even care. I still ended up leaving with leftovers. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere is nice. I recommend!
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
Delicious. And they have their only delivery which cuts out the Uber Eats/Grub Hub/Dior Dash fees. I am a fan of that. The food was delivered quickly, hot and delicious. We had butter chicken, garlic naan, tikka masala, appetizers and rice. The delivery driver was so gracious. Definitely will order again.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Excellent food ! Much enjoyed it . Sonja took great care of us ! Will definitely return!
google avatar

Audra L.

Yelp
Stopped in because we needed our Indian food fix while we were up in NoVA. We googled this place and found the most delicious lunch buffet with the friendliest staff! So glad we took a chance, 5 star for sure
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
We ordered by phone for pickup. I had to wait about 10 minutes, seated comfortably in the dining room. We had the 3-course meals ($25 each). My hubby got: chicken Tikka (good) butter chicken (sauce way too sweet and chicken pieces big and tough), and Gulab jamun (ok) I had: aloo tiki (good) lamb Rogan Josh (delicious) and rasmalai. (Good) The meals came with rice (good). They were supposed to come with naan, but they left it out. It's a good thing we ordered aloo parantha and onion kulcha (both good). The portions were generous, especially for a multi-course meal.
google avatar

Cortney W.

Yelp
We love this restaurant. They used to have an amazing lunch buffet, but since COVID that hasnt been happening. The kabobs are incredible. The naan is mouth watering, the rice is perfect. And whatever you do, DEFINITELY order the veg appetizer platter. Nothing we got was very spicy (always a fear at Indian restaurants) but i also stayed away from the green sauce they put on the table

Anonymous F.

Yelp
I brought my family here to celebrate a special milestone occasion and was hoping for a great North Indian dining experience. I was very disappointed. Service was terrible and slow. We had to remind the servers to refill our water and even to take our dinner order. On top of that it took another 45 minutes just for dinner to arrive, and it was not a busy night. Then the food itself was mediocre at best. The chaat was decent. However most items were either under seasoned or over seasoned. The "biryani" was not biryani by any stretch of the imagination. Won't be returning again.
google avatar

Mark N.

Yelp
Great Punjabi food here. We've been in to sit down a couple of times, but mostly take out. You can order online via Yelp and that's a huge plus on a busy workday. First lets talk spicy. I like food that is spice hot, but I have a rule. If it's so hot that it covers up strong flavors and smells (e.g. garlic) then it is too hot. They can make things perfectly spicy here without dominating other key flavors. That's a talent in short supply. Now for some specific reviews: Vegetable pakoras are great. Perfectly crispy and not drowning in chickpea batter like you find in some restaurants. Masala papad is an interesting and tasty twist on the classic lentil cracker. They top it with peanuts, chopped red onions, tomatoes and spices. This is a great starter and shows their ability to innovate in tasty ways. Basil chicken tikka is another slightly new variation on the classic yogurt marinated chicken dish. If you love basil (and I do) you will enjoy this dish. All their curries are good. I'm partial to their saag and korma. Also a big fan of dal makhani. Service has been good every time. Prices are a little high, but consistent with both the quality and the location. In other words, it is worth it.

Yelp
We've been looking for a good Indian restaurant in the Leesburg area and were fortunate to find 5 Tara. After driving past it many times when leaving Wegmans we decided to give it a try and are happy that we did. It's tucked away at the end of Village Market so I don't think a lot of people notice it. The food is very tasty and fresh. Our favorites are the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, lamb rogan josh and channa masala. And if you like onions you have to try the onion kulcha bread...extremely good! The wait staff is pleasant and helpful, especially Sonia. The only negative I would give it is the wine prices are a bit steep compared to other area restaurants...but the food is amazing! Give it a try.

Yelp
I'm a fairly understanding and patient person but this place definitely pushed my limit. I called in an order around 7 pm for a pick up at 8 pm. I actually arrived at 8:20 so definitely was expecting the food to be ready. Turns out It hadn't even been written down or begun to be prepared. Again fair enough I understand mistakes happen sometime. The owner assured me they would rush the food. but then I proceeded to wait for 40 minutes in addition for the food to be made. I am assuming the lady whom I placed the on call order with is the source of the error. During my 40 minute wait in the restaurant I observed the same person I spoke with cause agitation with other customers. I overheard an issue with a group that arrived who had called in reservation, only for it to not have ever been noted in the restaurant.

Yelp
Sam is a great manager. Fantastic food!! We come here as often as possible. Welcoming environment

Yelp
I so wanted to like this place. What more than having an awesome Indian spot in your backyard. Gave it a shot and what a disappointment. Ordered the two staples that are really hard to screw up - Butter Chicken & Paneer Tikka Masala. The sauce in both of them was wayyy too sweet - to the point it was inedible and we ended up tossing them out since it was take out.
