This is a great little place to go to meet up with your girlfriend have a couple of glasses of some good wine and good conversations. Also a variety of live music that plays in the evenings. They have a great selection of wines. If you don't like what you see, they are always happy to recommend something fabulous!

Google
The BEST live music spot in Asheville! This wine bar is quaint, eclectic and a great spot for a few drinks and a snack while you listen to local musicians. We tried the house made pimento cheese and it was delicious! 10/10 for experience and atmosphere. This is a must for people visiting Asheville.

Google
Interesting place! Had a ton of good wines BTG and live music on Saturday night. Some of the patrons were a little wild (dancing around) and everyone seemed to be having a good time. But venue is small and fills up quick!

Google
We just love this place. You feel like you’re in Europe. The wine selection is unparalleled in Asheville and the music adds so much. The bartenders are always helpful and welcoming. This is a fantastic place.

Google
This was our kind of bar! We'd seen the advert for live music at 8 and were hoping for a little bluegrass (which we got). We arrived early and found a seat at the bar. Great wine selection! The potato chips are delicious (and the rest of the meat and cheese board was too). A little crowd gathered, and it was nice to hear that there were locals in them mix too. People were chill, and the bartenders were so kind and attentive. Just a really great place to relax. We'd come back for sure!

A few of us were in town for business and we stopped in prior to dinner for wine and beer… They have a very nice venue here, great décor and decent list of wines and beer. Service was really friendly and prices are decent. We enjoyed a few items and then moved on, but we enjoyed the stay while we sat & sipped! They also offer small bites here. Would stop in when in the area!

Google
Good service and good vibes. Thursday night is fun with Pleasure Chest playing dance tunes. Crowd is 50plus and a happy bunch. Never have ordered food, but it's not dinner, just snacks, like cheese plate.

Yelp
5 Walnut is an Asheville classic at this point! The bar is quaint but well laid out, and musicians playing live music fit into the wall perpendicular to the bar pretty organically. There are a few tables in the main space and then a separate room with additional seating. Snacks are excellent and the knowledgeable staff is pleasant and patient, moving quickly amidst occasional chaos. Love the wine list and the beer list is maybe more extensive than anticipated. The front windows are opened up often during warmer months, which is a nice touch and makes everything feel more open. Like almost every downtown Asheville establishment, parking is street, garage, or pay lot.

Yelp
Candace provided excellent customer service and nice recommendations for things to do in the area. My husband and I split a glass of rosé and enjoyed the cute ambiance. I highly recommend a beverage here to escape the heat.

Yelp
Adorable wine bar in Asheville Open and inviting with a convenient location and friendly staff. You can tell locals go here. I had a refreshing glass of Sauv blanc before heading to a show.

Yelp
I had a good day at work and decided to celebrate a little with a few glasses of Cava at ...what we locals/ natives call "the nut". It is more quiet around the 5pm hour verses in the later evening when the music starts up. There were just about 7 people dispersed in this small establishment along with me ...all enjoying our beverages. I was there about 30 minutes...as I started to settle out my bill my check was delivered at $35+....for 2 glasses of Cava at $10 a piece??? I made the bartender aware of there mistake....now it could end there, but other I know and more from tourists I've heard from over the last several months is "this" has been occurring A LOT in downtown...incorrect checks in drinking establishments. I was luck as I (a) checked the bill and (b) didn't have a big complex bill making it easy to catch. Watch out here...you may be paying close to double at "the nut" if you don't watch them closely.

Yelp
Stumbled on to this place near the end of the night after a full day. We heard the live music and saw people dancing on the sidewalk. Made our way in and got a glass of wine which was very good, the band playing and crowd was a blast! Wish we had gotten there sooner. Will for sure go back next time in Asheville.

Yelp
Cozy, comfortable, and a delicious wine selection! 5 walnut is a great place to come after work for delicious wine and snacks and sometimes a badass band. They usually always have a $5 wine special and those can't be beat! On busier days they'll have live music which is a treat if you can snag a window seat. Those are the best spots to feel the breeze and enjoy the music! Their charcuteries are also a great deal and everything we've tried is always yummy. If your get the chance to see the band lyric here, I would absolutely recommend!

Yelp
We frequently walk by this wine bar and finally decided to meet friends there after work. They have a nice wine selection. The bar is bright and airy with large windows that open onto the sidewalk. Unfortunately, the daytime bartender was almost mute and not all at helpful as we selected our wines. Maybe he was having a bad day. The woman who came on after him actually smiled and was more talkative. We'll return again to listen to live music.

Yelp
This wine bar is so cozy and welcoming. The Chardonnay wine is superb along with the popcorn. The staff was so friendly as well. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Wine bar I walked in and decided to try some good wine. Was not disappointed with the suggestion

Yelp
The service was good and they had great music! We had a great time dancing here to some Christmas tunes! The $5 red on special was not that great honestly but it was $5, so I guess you can't expect a ton for that price haha ! The Pinot Grigio $5 dollar special was much better! Me and my wife love a good wine bar, we love live music, and we love to dance together. On top of all that, the people here were very nice, and the staff served everything pretty quickly even though the bar was filled to the brim. I would highly recommend you give this place a try. If you are picky about what type of music you like I definitely recommend calling ahead of time to see what bands are playing that week, but honestly you can't go wrong here! On a side note, there really isn't much parking but you can find some metered parking close by. This place gets five stars for the vibe, the service, the great live music, the nice neighborhood people, the dancing and the overall experience!

Yelp
Good wine bar! I came in and sat at the bar. Waitress was kind & offered a good recommendation. The wine tasted fresh & was a good blend. Quaint little bar that is a good spot for a before dinner drink, after dinner drink or a cute little date spot. I

Yelp
I really liked this wine bar. You can grab wine by the glass or order a bottle. I did a glass of prosecco and a dessert wine and my husband did a glass of riesling and moscato. If you don't like wine, they have beer, cider and nonalcoholic options. The table and bar seats by the windows are very popular but we had no issues finding a small table for two. A visit to 5 Walnut Wine Bar is a must if you are in downtown Asheville.

Yelp
Was on vacation here in early December. Very cute bar! Live music, good wine, and great service.

Yelp
I liked it. Nice wine. Nice charcuterie. Nice ambiance. Will be nice to go back when the have live music.

Yelp
This place was recommended by staff @ Cambria Hotel & we're so glad. Fun spot. Wonderful music. Friendly crowd. We had a great time

Yelp
Chill vibes, hefty pours, good wine, even better people. If you're visiting Asheville, highly recommend.

Yelp

Yelp
Me and my girlfriend ended up here while waiting for our dinner reservation. Bar staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We ended up with the Riesling and moscato. Super cute and cozy place. They also have window seats which are perfect for people watching.

Anna D.

Yelp
Nothing better than curling up with a glass of wine at this window! Highly recommend for grabbing a drink in a local spot. Great live music most nights!
google avatar

Dunn F.

Yelp
I wish I could remember my server's name as he was kind and very knowledgeable. He was also managing the bar. He had the perfect wine recommendations. I don't give five stars because a better job needs to be done with charcuterie. Opening prepackaged meats and cheeses (in front of customers) and slapping them on a board is not typical. Still a great time and vibe.
google avatar

Paul D.

Yelp
Great little wine bar with live music most every evening. The John Henry's led by bandleader Russ Wilson are not to be missed. The musical tapestry they paint is beautiful. If you want to hear the music but want a bit of privacy there's a side room with tables. We like standing outside at the open window listening and having a glass of wine.
google avatar

Brittany H.

Yelp
We came here before our dinner reservation on our first night in Asheville. Wine and beer selection was good. I loved the open window seating and chill atmosphere. We got the Toasted Almonds Provence to complement our wine. This is a great place to stop before or after dinner.
google avatar

Abby L.

Yelp
I really had a nice visit here. The bartender is super friendly and talkative. She was knowledgeable about a lot in Asheville and gave many good suggestions. The bar was not crowded on a warm Saturday afternoon. It was so nice to enjoy a glass of wine in such peaceful atmosphere. The cheese crisps are also delicious for an afternoon snack! I recommend highly.

Yelp
I know that when you think of Asheville you don't think of wine, it is the beer city after all. But don't make the mistake of holding that against 5 Walnut Wine Bar. This is one of my husband and my favorite spots to drop in before a dinner on the town, or if we simply feel like taking a relaxing moment and grabbing a little nosh. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about their selection, and we simply loved the relaxed atmosphere of the place. And my husband loved the boiled peanuts. We'll be back another time for a cheese plate, they looked so good!
google avatar

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite wine bar in Asheville. They have great ambience, a wonderful selection of wines, and I've always had friendly and prompt service. They also have five dollar specials every day, and their pours are very generous. Plan to go when there's live music, its a fantastic way to start or wrap up an evening downtown.
google avatar

Paisley T.

Yelp
Oh yes! I know it's small but that's what gives it that divey feeling. And the size helps for the acoustics. For the music. Or the laughing. Or just all that general partying. And when everyone is getting rosy cheeks from all that imbibing and body heat and euphoria, why complain? Everybody comes here. Pick a color. Pick an age. Peeps of all 'food groups' are packed in here. Just doing what people do. By the way those almonds at the bar are sick tasty and delicious. I didn't know almonds could be this good. Must be that buzz from all that booze. Yup, I've had many a good time at 5. Oh yeah.

Yelp
Such a great little wine bar--I could've hung out here all day! We stumbled upon it because some patrons in the window were fawning over our puppies. Upon finding out we could take them IN the bar, we were more than down to stay a while. It's a small space but everyone was incredibly friendly. Also, in a town so beer-motivated, I was thrilled to have such great wine options.

Yelp
Love this place x 5! Get the special. The vibe is unmatched. Cheese shop in the back. Check it out.

Yelp
OK - this is a cute little place in the heart of the busy area of Ashville. Barkeep was super nice and informative. Wine and beer were great and the small cheese board we ordered was spot on. Lots of places in Ashville are crowded and trendy and not all that nice to visitors. 5 Walnut was the exception.
google avatar

Lily S.

Yelp
Awesome wine selection and chill cozy jazzy vibes. Windows are open. Would come again.
google avatar

Lori R.

Yelp
How lucky were we to arrive just as two people vacated seats at the bar on a busy Saturday night? Score! Yes, not only did I score a nice glass of wine for a reasonable price, but we enjoyed some super live music! Would have loved to have stayed longer but we were on our way to an already-reserved tour. Highly recommend for wine and live music lovers!
google avatar

Yelp
Great wine bar! Very chill and the selection is great. This place would be trouble if it was in our hometown.

Yelp
Love this place. Excellent bartender, cute tucked away place - open window tables with street view. Good wine choices, generous pours - ask for the $5 choice - it can be a great choice. Not a lot of food, just cheese plate type - chips and GF crackers were great, cheese was perfect, meat was spicy. We went there 2 nights in a row.

Yelp
With this being review #101, there isn't much to be said. I'm glad me and the boyfriend visited because the ambiance was so romantic. I also can only rate this bar on what we observed, as I visited about an hour and a half or so before closing time. The bartender was very nice and helpful and knowledgable about all the wines that are offered. The wines were at proper temperature and were worth the cost. I would love to visit again and get the full experience.

Yelp
The Chardonnay and popcorn were superb. Make sure you stop here, it is a must! The host were great too!

Yelp
What a cute little wine bar. I stopped in for a quick drink while waiting for dinner reservations. We got lucky and were able to get two seats looking out the window. The wine selection is great and they have plenty of beers on tap too. I love the decor; wooden tables, dim lights, stools and a beautifully painted wall. I enjoyed the live music. The atmosphere was relaxed and the staff was friendly. Can't wait to return and tell my wine-o friends about this place!

Yelp
Great little place to unwind downtown, if you can score an open window seat, even better! Had glass of 2019 Adelsheim Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. Cinnamon on the nose cherries on the finish...

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE this place!! From the well priced great wine, to the GREAT music, to the fabulous light food offerings, and the great bar tenders - special praise to Corrin (sp?)! The customers, ambiance, and feeling of being welcome makes this one of stops every time I am in town!!
google avatar

Yelp
Live music? Wine? Shit to look at? A back room where there's more seating? Yes, yes, yes, and more yes'. This was a place that we stopped by on our way to more bars. This place was shown to us by a fellow friend and it as much appreciated. All I remember from this place was that it was definitely busy that Saturday night. I believe it was because of the live music that was jammin' out all that good music. I didn't really look at the prices as far as the wine menu goes, as I was just along for the ride. Inside, there's a bar, and a small stage, and then further on back there's a room where there's more seating. There's a couch along with several seats and all sorts of artwork and sculptures on the ceiling and along the walls. I thought it was very unique in the atmosphere that it created. Perfect for friends wanting to get together to share a bottle of wine together or a glass or two. We all had a bottle of wine together, enjoyed the music, and continued our trip to the next spot. But, definitely you should check this place out if you're looking for wine.
google avatar

Randi T.

Yelp
Wonderful spot to enjoy the views and a delicious glass of wine! Corrin was beyond helpful - would highly recommend!

Tori O.

Yelp
A fun experience and pleasant atmosphere. Live music and dancing occasionally. Window seats for people watching.
google avatar

Marta V.

Yelp
One of the best places downtown for live music, good wine and a lot of fun with strangers who are there to enjoy the night. We stumbled upon this gem on a Friday night after dinner and was there until closing. Pimps of Pompe was the band that night and boy did they deliver with their musical talent! Highly recommend.
google avatar

Megan N.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this cute wine bar during my trip to Asheville. I love that cozy enviroment of the space and they had a great wine selection. They had cute open air window seating. Wish I had one of these in my hometown.
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
This is great spot for live music!!! The local vibe and wine specials were so great! It does get busy so I would recommend getting their earlier in the night if you want a seat at the bar/ table. The service was wonderful despite how busy it got and they had $5 wine glass specials!
google avatar

Lesley S.

Yelp
Solid wine, solid time! Live music and good times. If you want to take a break from the beer scene- this little bit of Vino Heaven is your spot. Open air and enjoying life without care is the vibe. Deep breaths and enjoy!
google avatar

Robb H.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. It's not very big, but it has a cozy feel to it. They have those garage door style windows that were open, making it great for people watching. The wine wasn't ridiculously priced, and they had some nice specials going on. The waitress was very nice and attentive, without being annoying. We ended up ordering a tray with cheese, salami, Baguettes and a mustard spread. It went really well with the wine. I loved the ambiance in this place. We couldn't stay for the jazz band, but I would have liked to been able to get that in. I wish we had a place like this at home.
