"The 508 Tavern opened in 2017, and it’s holding down Santa Fe Avenue as the city expands its downtown district south (construction still pending). The tavern itself is charmingly sparse (though the patio outside offers a nice cool hangout), but the food and beer are why you’re here -- they offer a great mix of sliders and tavern standards along with some interesting inclusions like a chef’s choice hummus and an ahi tuna poke bowl. The beer selection goes for quality over quantity, with some good local choices like Garage Brewing and Abnormal matched up with other West Coast neighbors like Kern River and Northern Pine. In five years, 508 might be in the heart of downtown Vista if the construction continues southwards, but even right now, it’s worth the walk to try it out." - Mike Schramm

Google
Great bar and food. The tacos were amazing, and large portions. The sliders were delicious too. Their section of beers was surprisingly good too. We sat outside in the back. I look forward to going back again.

Google
This place is really cool! I always drive by and decided to stop by. Everything we ordered was amazing and the root beer floats were a great way to end our meal. Shelly was amazing!

Steph Lew

Google
This place is amazing, and I'm sad not to live close by anymore! The food is delicious, I will definitely dream of those tater tots, and the beer rotation is a 10/10! The owner and the servers are so nice. Y'all have really done a great job creating an enjoyable and welcoming environment! Lana will definitely miss rolling in your grass; thank you for being so kind and patient with her!

Google
One of the best places I have ever gotten tacos from, no question! They tasted like authentic street tacos. My favorite were the Adobada! And, the staff were super friendly and kind. Definitely will be coming back regularly.

Tom Nielsen

Google
I love this place! The friendliest staff, the best food, the best drinks, and all at the best prices. (I really need a thesaurus)...My new favorite neighborhood tavern. Update: still awesome fish tacos are gigantic and tots were perfect...oh ya, also cold beer.

Amy Grady, BSW

Google
Went for a friend's retirement party outside in the back. Had Bites for food and it was really good. The wings were fabulous. The chicken tacos were a little on the salty side. The tater tots and waffle wedges were also really good. The Beef tacos were really good as well. THE BEEF SLIDERS WERE AMAZING!! Hummus was really good as well. I had the Bario Logan beer that was nice a cold. Thank you we had a very nice time.

Google
Honestly, nothing about this place appeals to me. Their excessively loud outdoor music echoes down the neighborhood and has made me not even want to come in. I wish they were more mindful of their lack of walls and the 2 apartment buildings and business besides them that have to hear them.

Met up with some good friend for taco Tuesday. It was a full house but found some seating. (There is a couple of tables inside and in the front patio, but most of the seating is outside on the side of the building). Very relaxed, backyard feel making it feel like home. They have weekly specials Tuesday-Friday (see photos of menu) Service was great, friendly and down to earth. They explained everything so well when we had questions. Tacos were smaller than I expected but packed with flavor and loved the variety of options. Poki Ahi was fresh, savory and yummy. Personal favorite was the chorizo cheese fries—Wow, everyone in the group couldn’t stop eating them. Root beer float was nice and big. Overall a staple place to grab a drink and some good grub without losing out on value. Looking forward to going back.

Yelp
It was a Saturday adventure. Hubby chose 508 tavern. We were looking for somewhere new to try. They had a little parking lot behind the restaurant. And we parked there. When we walked in, it's a tiny bar with bar seating and some tables. The patio is THE place to be. There are a couple of high table tops, some picnic tables and patio chairs and tables. It's very chill. We ordered mango habanero wings , sure and turf tacos and calamari. Everything was super fresh!!! We found our new place for wings!!!! Yay!!! The tacos I had were surf and turf tacos. Fresh fish tacos and Korean beef tacos. So delicious I even ate the onions!!! The calamari looked a little greasy, but honestly, the batter was so light!!!it was delicious!!! We will be back! Have to add that this place is dog friendly.

Yelp
Oh-Muh-Gawd... This is it. This is what I have been looking for for while living in Vista! 508!!! What to say, what to say... For starters, this is the best local owned Tavern I've been to. It is clear from the crowd and quality that the owners have given their heart and soul to the business. The food will never disappoint, and the constantly changing beer selection is awesome. If I could give you one bit of advice for food, Id say try the Korean Tacos and the Fish Taco. I might even say to try any of the wings on their Wing day. But in reality, I'd probably just say yes to everything on the menu since it is all delicious. I truly appreciate the constant changes in beer. Since they aren't a brewery, they can simply choose from local breweries, what they want to serve. And let me tell ya, they make good choices. All that being said, I do wish they were open more. My days off are Sunday and Monday. It would be nice to be a patron on my days off. I understand the owners need to have their family time too, so I cant complain. But a man can dream. So give it a shot! Go sit outside in their back yard complete with a stage and artwork from world renown artists in the art district of Vista. I promise you will become a true supporter of 508 Tavern.

Yelp
Stopped by for Taco Tuesday and had a great time! The Micheladas were good! The tacos were delicious and the fries were nice and crispy. The service was great, they were busy but the servers were friendly and fun! The ambiance is very casual and laid back. I will definitely be returning!

Lilmissb B.

Yelp
Wow. Awesome tacos for Taco Tuesday. We tried All 7 and we are very impressed. Great outdoor space, nice ambiance with a little stage area. Small and limited indoor seating. Highly recommend the Michelada too.(very tasty.) Looking forward to going back and trying more.

Yelp
Friday, it was last day of Burgeon Beer at Grove in Vista Yelp Elite event, so I decided to stop here to get some food before enjoying the flight of beers (instead of waiting to be delivered to). My order was ChickINN Sando with fries, nice sandwich to go (Friday the place was rocking, still it took a time even to be acknowledge, taking the order and then waiting for like 20 minutes). It's a small place where the bar is inside, but all the action is outside on the patio. Parking is very tight (I found it on the street) , I saw some space behind the tavern (I don't know how the customers can park there).

Todd J.

Yelp
We had lunch here yesterday. We entered the small indoor space with a bar and a couple Hightop tables. We passed through to the back patio as we had our small dog with us. It was a nice open area with a combo of high top tables, picnic tables, and Adirondack chairs. The waitress greeted us with menus and took our drink order. We had a couple drinks and ordered the mango habenero wings, calamari, and the surf and turf tacos (1 fish, 1 korean bbq) everything was delicious.

Maribella R.

Yelp
Just no. It's tiny, parking is terrible, and the food is subpar consistently. It's sad bc they used to be good and I have no clue why it went downhill.

Jessica R.

Yelp
A must try if you're ever looking for good quality food in Vista! We've been to 508 Tavern multiple times and I can say that their food and service is always consistently great. The entire staff is super friendly and approachable! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu but the sliders and wings are our absolute favorite! It's a super cute and cozy spot that is always a hit.

Leslie S.

Yelp
We visited 508 for lunch on a Saturday. We had no problem finding a table. The interior is pretty small, but there's a large patio in the back that has a lot of seating. The waitress was very friendly and took great care of us. We ordered a lot of different food and split it between the group. All of the food was great! My favorite was the pacific coast sliders. The meat was juicy and the burger had great flavor. The Parmesan garlic criss cut fries were loaded with fresh garlic and had a very strong garlic flavor. The candied pecan salad was fresh and tasty. There's a lot of different beers on tap to choose from also. This place had great food and is a fun place to have a beer or a meal! I definitely recommend coming here!

Cynthia P.

Yelp
The food was DELICIOUS. There was not a single thing we ordered that was not good. We got the pecan salad, sliders, and the cheese curds all amazing. We walked in and got seated fast out on patio, the heaters were a nice gesture it made things more comfortable. The service was fast and friendly. Food came out on a timely manner even though it was busy. I gotta go back and try their wings and fish tacos next. My new favorite spot for sure!

Jessenia G.

Yelp
Visited here after being in the area for a spa day. We sat out on the patio and had a couple of beers-- both were refreshing and bubbly. We had the fish taco and Korean beef taco. Korean taco wins of those two, but what really shined were the wings. My goodness they were juicy, crunchy, hot, and cooked to perfection. We regret not having gotten a couple more and putting our bellies over the edge. Our server was really friendly and our food came out quickly. I really appreciated the fast service because I was famished. 10/10 would recommend.

Ann K.

Yelp
Super good food, really nice service, reasonable prices! Would completely recommend this place, my family will be coming back here!

Jodi R.

Yelp
Saturday funday with the Girls, can't remember bartender/severs name but super fun. Try the Olives, I don't care for olives but they were great!!

Brooke M.

Yelp
Popping place to be! Street parking. Staff was very friendly! Dogs were welcome! The food was a little underwhelming compared to all the reviews. The chicken sandwich tasted like it had no seasoning. The waffle fries and ranch were very good! The fish taco fish was very good however the sauce had no flavor. The spicy Korean bbq taco was the best but still not amazing. Way too much liquid making the tortilla soggy. The taco insides would be amazing on rice!

Vivian V.

Yelp
I love this place. Beer selection is great, staff is always great and the food is always delicious. Some of my favorites are the wings, sandwiches and soft pretzel. They've got a tiny front patio and a large back patio that are dog friendly so we bring our dog. Pretty sure I left a travel water bowl of hers here lol. On a busy night you may be waiting for a bit for food but it's worth it. Relax and have a beer.

Katherine G.

Yelp
Pet friendly! I really enjoyed their chicken sliders which is not like your regular sliders these come with fries. You will get full which is a good thing! I highly recommend it's a super relaxing environment.

George A.

Yelp
My $50 lunch date.... I highly recommend trying 508 Tavern in Vista. I gave them 5star for uniqueness and quality. Love their very unique Korean Beef Taco, great choice of beef cut... very tender and juicy and tasty. Their Chorizo Fries is also very unique, perfect combination of chorizo and criss cut fries. We ordered 3 items but only ate 2. The serving size is just right for two. We just boxed our third item the Santa Fe Slider. Can't wait to try this one at home.

Yelp
Love this restaurant. Food is unique and fresh. Staff is friendly and helpful. And they have the best chicken wings in North County.

Jessica T.

Yelp
I love this bar!! Very chill with excellent service, delicious beers and food! My kinda place!

Angela E.

Yelp
The service, food, and atmosphere are amazing here! You always feel welcomed and everyone is so friendly. You must go for taco Tuesdays!!! Shelly is awesome! Very highly recommend!!!

Lisa C.

Yelp
Love the owners. Cute place has turned into a bit of a biker feel, but great beer collection.

Jay J.

Yelp
After dinner my wife and I went on a hunt in Vista village near our place for a new hometown bar location. We landed on the perfect spot. 508 Tavern is so dope. The vibes and service was awesome. If you are looking for good music and cold beer on Thirsty Thursday, 508 can't be beat wirh $4.50 drafts all day. Can't wait to go back so I can buy some 508 swag to represent our local bar!

Aubrey R.

Yelp
Initially we had some difficulty getting seated, due to some confusion about whether or not it was self-seating. BUT after a very short time, they got us a table outside that was absolutely lovely; it was nice to be in a quieter section of the building. After we ordered, our drinks arrived barely a few minutes later and the food came out in around 15. I had the calamari, which came with an amazing cream sauce, and split the parmesan/garlic fries with a friend. Both items hit the spot perfectly.

Sara D.

Yelp
Service is great , the wait to get seated goes by quick because of the set up with the fire pits

Darci M.

Yelp
Doesn't disappoint! Still making happy locals with the best kitchen yumminess and brews- they also serve wine too! Go support them- you won't be disappointed

CJ C.

Yelp
Santa fe slider, sweet bbq wings, and chorizo fries. To who ever was at work on 03/06/23 6:30pm... 10/10 food, 10/10 service, over all experience 10/10. Thank you to all that was working that night. To the cooks, everyone that was there that night knows how good yall be cooking back there.

Madison F.

Yelp
I love everything about 508 Tavern! The food and drink are great, fun environment, and the waitress we have is awesome! Highly recommend

Paul Z.

Yelp
A hidden little gem in the heart of downtown, Vista. I love coming to this place to relax and unwind. The food is excellent and the tacos are amazing.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
The food here is usually a+ especially when the nice owner is checking if everything is up to par. He is really nice and would always check on our family. Along with the sweet Asian lady server. She is always serving us but wasn't there today. She's so funny and is always providing the best customer service. Our fave thing to order is the ahi poke nachos but made spicy. The chips were burnt and made of tortillas last thurs when we went but we still ate it all. I love the selection of alcohol they have here too. And the happy hour on Thursday is the best too, highly recommend for the best deals on pints that day.

Chad J.

Yelp
My wife and I love 508! They always have good brews to choose from, wings, tacos, fried olives, etc. we enjoy sitting out back in the Adirondack chairs.

Hilda A.

Yelp
The food is soooooo yummy!!! I wasn't able to drink but was still craving a beer so they offered a non-alcoholic beer. Totally saved the moment!!

Nancy T.

Yelp
I was here for a party, so we had most of the patio. The food was really good - I don't drink beer, so I can't comment on the brews. The servers were great, too. We had a pretty big group and they were very attentive.

Craig W.

Yelp
Call it 4.5. It's kinda sorta a sports bar but really it's a casual local hang. As everyone has noted, the interior is tiny but cozy. There is also a street-side patio and a large outside area in the back. Kid-friendly-too. There's no kid's menu but when 90% of your food is pub grub, I'm sure the kids can enjoy fries, sliders, tater tots, tacos, etc. But the menu is more interesting than you might think. They've got caprese salad, Korean BBQ tacos, wings, cheese curds, and more. Service was friendly but a little uneven. They were absolutely slammed on a Friday night. Give'em a break. You can't go wrong with loaded tots, sliders and a mountain of huge waffle fries. Everything we had was very good. Interesting draft beers, too. Lots of local selections and not the usual suspects, either. Street parking or a large dirt lot next door. For a local pub, it's pretty much exactly what you want.

Laura M.

Yelp
Great appetizers and outdoor space for summertime. I'll go back when live music is there to spend some time.

Lynn H.

Yelp
After 15 minutes of hoping the male server would take my order I'm leaving. He couldn't read a room to save his life. Some nice man even told him someone over there is waiting..... crickets, two more parties come in, sit down, get menus, crickets. I get up to leave and he asks if everything is ok?? Clueless, couldn't even tell me if you had a blonde.

Tc P.

Yelp
Awesome food, great service, and it's a cool place to have a drink. Love it here. 5 stars doesn't do it justice.

Warren S.

Yelp
Arrived on a Tuesday evening and the establishment was almost full. It is a "seat yourself" dining experience. We found a pub table in the back lawn. We ordered the fried olives, a selection of tacos and my daughter had a couple sliders with waffle fries. All were fantastic! The fried olives were exceptional. A light batter, think tempura, topped with feta and green onion. The sauces served were a great fit but their size was minimal. We didn't wish to bug our Server for more. We sampled the Korean beef taco; sumptuous! The fried avocado taco, think tempura again; melt in your mouth goodness. And the pork with crema; delectable! All between $2-$3 each! My only gripe would be the lack of a wine list. Nowhere can you be informed about their wines. No origin, year or pricing available. Our poor Server had to go back inside, bring out individual bottles so we may peruse them and then look up each individual label on her tablet to search for a price. On a busy night I can assume this practice would put her in a bind. She seemed put-out, but I do not fault her. 508 has put her in this predicament. Nonetheless, we enjoyed some great wine after our selection was made. This review is for anybody who wishes to hear my opinion...

Monica R.

Yelp
Value ~ a 10! Food ~ a 10! Service ~ a 10! check! check! check!

Gabriela N.

Yelp
"Where everybody knows your name and they are always glad you came" .....perfect spot for relaxing and grabbing a bite to eat. Food is great, beer is superb and the atmosphere is excellent. Staff is super friendly and attentive. What's your name?

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
On our visit to 507 Tavern we ordered the pacific coast sliders, fried stuffed olives, caprese salad, and garlic fries. It's not typical that I drink alcohol but my partner had some sort of hard spiced cider which I tasted and thought had quite good flavor and reminded me of the end days of summer when the air is still warm but you can feel the shift of the season coming so you take a moment to more deeply enjoy where you are. They also have several other selections of beer on tap, bottled, a surprisingly large selection of wines, and coke products to choose from. The sliders are fresh ground beef and I am going to guess maybe made with a 20/80 fat ratio, as they were dripping their juices all over the plate! I found the over all flavor of the sliders was on the sweeter side and wanted more of a kick of heat to balance the sweet notes and will try the Santa Fe sliders next visit. The garlic fries are made with fresh minced garlic and while they have a healthy kick but I definitely wanted more of the garlic mix smothering the fries. 100% recomend getting the garlic fries and asking for extra topping. The stuffed olives while good, were over all not to my liking. I felt that battering and frying them took away the tang and saltiness that I love about stuffed green olives. That said, the chili dipping sauce served on the side was a great offset and paired well with the olives. The caprese salad was delicious, always a solid choice in my opinion. There was a heavy amount of balsam dressing and ribboned basil over top of alternating slices of fresh tomato and mozzarella of equal thickness for a balanced flavor of acid and creamy. Adding a bit of salt and black pepper really sends it over the top! This is a small establishment with very limited seating both indoors (a few tables as well as bar seating) and outdoors on the front porch. Our server was super rad, and was more than happy to give recommendations on drinks/pairings. 10/10 would recommend you stop in for a bite and drink!

Yelp
First time here with a party of two and a dog on a Friday night. Shout out to Lala, who took care of us from the second I walked through the door to the moment I signed the bill. She's got a wonderful personality and came through with the best suggestions for our meal, so we took her lead and ordered the Surf and Turf tacos and the chorizo fries. The tacos were larger than street taco size and came in a flour tortilla, which was quite good - my sister got full after eating half of each (although she still picked at my meal). The chorizo fries were perfectly done waffle fries with chorizo crumbles and two sauces zig zagged over - also they were a massive serving, which was great to share. Still had to take some home, but Lala gave us the recipe for the best leftovers breakfast - refire it with some egg, maybe put it in a tortilla and boom - chorizo california breakfast burrito. Will def be taking this suggestion. Also since it was a daily special for Friday, we had glasses of their house cabernet and malbec, which went down easy. Very cute and jovial spot - will be back to experience their live music on the weekends!

Walt B.

Yelp
Great little neighborhood "Cheers" place. Priced right, & easy parking. We will be back. Cheers, WB

Maria C.

Yelp
It's okay. It's small and gets crowded really quick. It's kind of a pain to park since it doesn't have a parking lot and it's on a main road that gets very busy at night. They have a nice selection of beer and they do have food, and it is definitely bar food. I came here with a few girlfriends about a week ago. It had a mom and pop feel which we always try to support over chain places, but it's seriously so tiny. And when I say tiny, I think like maybe two groups of four would fit inside, and the back patio does have room for more people but definitely not more than 15-20 comfortably. The food is okay, they have taco specials and it's not a bad deal but tbh it's a lot to pay for not very much. Personally I'm not crazy about craft beer in general, they have a nice selection of it though. My friend Denise absolutely loved their drink selection. I was DD so I just got a soda.

Grant B.

Yelp
Food was delicious, the ambiance was perfect listening to "Quinn" play music on the patio, and the service was excellent and friendly.

Sarai Z.

Yelp
Great ambiance! Great staff, great food! I fell in love with this place. I totally recommend. If you have a party greater then 6 i recommend to call and try to make a reservation as the place is not very big. Food recommendations a must try the chorizo cheesy fries!

Luke M.

Yelp
Nice little place. The wings are good. Wish I could tell you about the other food, but I just can't resist getting the wings every time The fact that you can get a couple buffalo, couple Korean, couple honey chipotle, all in the same order, is amazing. Most places aren't willing to do that. Fridays wine is lower cost, and really a good deal

Bridgette G.

Yelp
It's been three years since I've reviewed this business and I'm still feeling they are doing a fantastic job. Shelly wasn't there when we went last night but Mel and Alicia took very good care of us as we sat in what I'm calling the porch front seating area. There is still a bunch of construction going on and off the Vista Paseo area and the seating lot to this restaurant is now where the parking used to be. We were able to get street parking with no problem. This place is pretty happening so be prepared for a slow roll & chill vibe here and keep in mind the few staffers on hand are handling it all. Wonderfully I might add. This visit we got the spicy Korean bbq tacos (so glad these are still on the menu) and they did not disappoint. We tried the fried olives and the chorizo & cheese fries and were also very good. We liked the balsamic reduction sauce that came with the olives. Honestly we haven't had anything we didn't like at this spot. I'm truly glad they've been able to stay afloat during this time of pandemic and with all the surrounding construction projects that's still on the rise here. I tend to like Cider and loved the Shilling's Pineapple Passport on tap. The Burgeons Mexican Lager was good too. It had a perfect amount of a citrus flavor to it. I bought a T-shirt because 508 is my MA area code. So its like having both my homes combined in a way. Although this place isn't affiliated with the east coast we are certainly glad it's a part of the 760 region. Come on by and see what they are all about. Oh yeah they have fun themed daily deals too. Ie Taco Tuesday, Wings Wed, Thirsty Thursday, etc. *Maybe someday I'll bring my attention snob of a dog here too since it's a social place for everyone here.

Joy L.

Yelp
Visited 10/5/21 and was impressed. Exactly the kind of spot I wanted to find in Vista. It has a locals vibe with great beer and delicious food. It's a smidge off the main drag of Vista Village, which to me is a plus. We visited for Taco Tuesday and were impressed by the outdoor space they had. It's perfect if you have a largeish group without feeling stuffed in a restaurant. My husband and I got one each of the tacos on special, which came out to $11 for 5 tacos. That was a really good price for some quality tacos. For me the fish taco and chicken taco stood out as my faves, but my husband loved the Korean beef taco, so I say try them all. The Avocado was okay, really creamy with good sauce but could have been a little more fried. I would say the same for the cheese curds. Good, but I prefer more breading on them, we'll try the fries next time. The food and drinks came out really quick and the service was top notch. I hope they bring back Sunday mimosas soon so I can enjoy a lazy Sunday there only 10mins from my house.

Lexi M.

Yelp
I LOVE THIS PLACE! So first of all the staff and owners are amazing! Thank you Shelly and Taylor for all the great service and laughs! They genuinely get to know their customers and are the sweetest! And their fooooood... i honestly think they have the best wing. Great sliders, and tacos, but the best are their fried olives!
