On our recent trip to Nashville, we stayed in the nearby Sylvan Heights neighborhood and were looking for a chill neighborhood spot with a patio to grab a drink and dinner at...and we found just that in 51 North Taproom!
51 North, which is the sister restaurant to the long standing 12 South Taproom and Grill in downtown, is located in The Nations part of the city and not only features a decent sized and well laid out patio (which is dog friendly!), but also a large, open indoor dining and taproom if outside isn't your vibe.
They have about 32 rotating taps, several of which are local brews, along with a wide variety of cans and bottles and if beer isn't your thing they also have a full bar and specialty cocktail list.
Food wise, they don't really have a particular variety of food they serve...the menu is a mix of all types from your standard burgers and sandwiches to pizza, quesadillas, tacos, oysters, pork loin, lamb, grits, collard greens and even poutine! Basically there is something here for every person in your party!
We started our meal out with the Smoke Gouda Queso, which honestly was a little underwhelming. It was decent queso, but nothing we would order again. For dinner we got the 51 North Cobb and the Gobblin Goat sandwich. The salad was hefty in size and well put together. It was a nice cobb salad with a southeastern flare with the pico, corn salad and spicy ranch. The Gobblin Goat is their version of a turkey sandwich with spiced goat cheese along with spinach and sun-dried tomatoes. It was a solid sandwich! I sided it with the sautéed green beans, which were okay.
Service was decent, our server seemed to have an attitude and really wasn't for us asking questions about the menus. It wasn't rude, but you could tell he was ready for the day to be over. We just made sure to be purposeful during his visits to the table.
Overall, we enjoyed 51 North Taproom and it is definitely on our "visit again" list for future visits, especially when we stay on this side of the city!
