If you're looking for a caterer, run... run far away! Hired them to cater my parent's 62nd anniversary and they showed up to the wrong address. This could have been avoided if they paid attention to the details. Not only was it the wrong address, they were over an hour late. They were supposed to serve at 6 pm but served after 7. We paid to feed 100 people, but about 88 showed up, and they ran out of beans. They said they would throw in 3 lbs. of pastor for free, but I never saw it. They never signed the contract, even after I asked numerous times for a signed contract.
I texted them a few days after the party, and I called once, with no response. What happened to customer service? They should have reached out to me. In my opinion, the food was not great. The birria was mushy and the carne asada needed flavor. The chorizo was tasty. They beans were supposed to be smashed, but they were straight from the pot. Their red salsa is so hot, it ruins the flavor of the tacos. I love spicy, but they need to tone that down.
They need to work on their set up. It was very unprofessional looking. The paper napkins were still in their bag when people served themselves. I asked for specific white plates and did not get what I wanted. They ran out of forks and plates. They definitely needed more than the two of them to serve the crowd. It took forever.
When we went to try the food, they made many assurances that they have done parties of 100 or more people. They said they would have plenty of food, enough for people to get seconds and any food left, we would take it home. They had meat left over but did not give it to us to take home. I probably wouldn't have taken it, but they should have still offered. Since I was born and raised in Highland Park, I wanted to give them a chance. I had hoped to speak to them about how things worked out, but as I mentioned, they have bad customer service. I hope they read this review and improve on their service and set up.
This is my first Yelp review and I hope it saves others from going through what we did. Other than that, the party turned out great!!
