I discovered this gem by accident. We were doing our annual staycation downtown and wanted to go to a roof top bar for drinks and dinner. We were staying at the Raffaelo, which has a roof top bar, but no food.
Found 52Eighty Rooftop Lounge on Yelp and decided to check it out. It is located on the 29th floor of the Cambria Hotel. Since there were six of us, I was happy that they allowed me to make a reservation. We got there and the outdoor area was very attractive, but not very large. But I will say that they utilize the space in an efficient way. The outdoor area features an open rooftop design, enclosed with high walls with great large windows so you can see the view. I imagine the design will be great to keep high winds from blowing on you.
Our table was waiting for us with a sign on it and two comfortable sofas. Seating six on them was going to be tight, so I asked our server if there was a way to get two additional chairs. He instead pulled over another sofa. So this place was a winner for me before I had even gotten a drink or food.
The prices were decent considering it was downtown. A bottle of Prosecco was $38 and they were very nice when asked to make a virgin Mojito for my daughter. The beer and wine list was very good, nice selection.
We ordered a Charcuterie board ($18) and truffle fries to start with. The board was very nice, good selection of meat and bread. There was this pickled onion/cucumber/grape relish that was amazing. Also loved the smoked bacon. It was smoky and salty and I loved it. Truffles fries were lovely too...came with a dipping sauce that I didn't try as I didn't want to cover the taste of the truffle and parmesan cheese.
For dinner, I ordered the brisket torta. For the record, the bread used was not what is traditional used for a torta, but it was very good, none the less. The brisket was tender and the BBQ sauce that they used was tangy and delicious. The sandwich was topped with a cabbage slaw, also tangy, that really worked. The melding of the flavors was on point and I would definitely get this again. The sandwich did not come with fries, so you will have to order them separately. The regular fries are salt and pepper, hot and tasty.
My daughter got the steak frites. I had a bite of the steak and it was gorgeous. It came out already sliced, which was nice so you didn't have to worry about cutting it. My daughter ordered it medium well and it was done to perfection. Very tender and juicy with a good bold flavor.
My GF got the buffalo sliders. We thought that they would be buffalo chicken, but they were actually buffalo meat burgers. I had a bite and it was very nice. Not much on them in terms of condiments, but that was nice as you could taste the flavor of the meat.
And I want to give a shout out to our waiter Jorge. He was awesome from the very beginning when he pulled over an addition couch for us. He was very attentive and although he was the only server working, he stayed on top of us to make sure we were okay. The bartender (Manny) also came out to help Jorge serve drinks as there were two other large parties being served. Manny was also very nice, complementing our party on "all of us beautiful ladies" sitting out on a beautiful night.
Overall, we had a very enjoyable night. Our bill, including tax and gratuity for a party of 6 came to $389...that included all the food, drinks and two bottles of Prosecco. That is not bad for a downtown adventure. Ended up giving Jorge additional $$ for being so accommodating. We will definitely be going back for dinner and drinks.
General note: staff was very welcoming....not the usual attitude you get at some of these places where the staff thinks they are doing you a favor allowing them to serve you an overpriced cocktail.
