Google
What a fantastic That place! Their food is amazing, with healthy and fresh ingredients cooked just right. It tastes great, their staff is friendly, and the prices are more than fair. The only thing to improve would be to serve the food with reusable dishes and cutlery. Highly recommend in any case, though!

Hannah W.

Google
Incredible casual Thai spot at affordable prices! We got the pad Thai with shrimp ($8) and the spicy basil chicken ($14) as well as the fried tofu ($6) and crispy spring rolls (5 for $6). Thai food was delicious and the servers were so welcoming and kind. They offered hot sauces, chili oils and crushed pepper to add to our dishes.

Ingrid C.

Google
Quick and kind service. Good eats except for the spring rolls, tastes like the frozen kind from Costco. Filling was just a bunch of mush. Would come again but not order those!

Google
Food was tasty and high quality. Service was friendly. Earthy-green plant vibes and fish pond outside is beautiful.

This is the Thai place that actually got me into Thai coming from someone who hadn’t really enjoyed it before. It’s super quaint and beautiful with some of the nicest decoration I’ve seen in a restaurant of such quality. What I find amazing though, and has been a seller for me time and time again, is how cheap the food is and how amazing it tastes. The spring rolls cost 1$ and they’re actually huge and delicious. I’ve had cheap spring rolls that taste alright and soggy, but they’re always crunchy and the sauce that accompanies it is always buss. The Pad Thai is good. I don’t think i’m fit to be the ultimate judge on authenticity or taste because of my lacking experience with Thai Food, but it’s really good and it’s what made me try the cuisine again. I really enjoyed the dish though, and I recommend first time triers to get the Kids Pad Thai because it’s literally 7.50 USD, in this economy😼. The portion is also really big relative to how much I’m paying. I think next time I’ll go for the full size just because of how much I liked it, but I’m really happy they have these more “trial sized” Thai classics so people who don’t know the cuisine aa well can get a proper introduction. But aside from the food, I also love that they have an amazing beverage variety. They have all kinds of soda cans, but it seems like they specialize in the drinks they make there. I’ve had to limeade and it’s really yummy, although I loved the Mango Black Tea I had on this time the most. It was refreshing, and not overly sweet which I love whenever I’m drinking Iced Tea. Try this place out frr, and see if y’all vibe with it, but overallll DAYGOEATSCERTIFIED✅✅📋

I love their Tom Yum Noodles soup. Usually get it with shrimp. Their spring rolls are also very good. Great spot with beautiful interior. Staff is always super friendly.

Google
Very disappointed with the service. Do you expect to dine in with paper plates and plastic disposable spoons 🙄? Yes, they served us like that. Also, they gave us water in plastic cups and never bothered to add more. Taste was just ok, nothing exceptional. Stir fry was so dry and tasteless that we could not eat it with the rice. And above all, the benches were sticky! Yes, they were sticky as if they were not cleaned properly or someone has poured honey all over it. Tissue papers got stuck to it and out forearms were sticking as we leaned on them while eating. Totally disappointed👎.

Google
My wife and I were visiting SD and looking for a walkable place to get some thai food. Didn't want to get any closer to the beach, so we landed on 55 Thai Kitchen. Looking at the photos ahead of time, I saw a picture of the pad thai, and you just have that feeling you know it's going to be good based on how it looks. It did not disappoint. The portions were very appropriate for the price. Atmosphere was great. Wish this place was down the street from my actual house. Will definitely consider returning again next time we visit. PS: Here's another pad thai photo.

Yelp
We walked in and it was empty, but many pick up orders came in after us. The guy greeted us when we walked in and explained the menu and had a cool vibe. The interior is absolutely beautiful and the pond(?) thing outside was also cool!! The food was great the only thing was the spring rolls and the Tom Kha Soup was super hot for the entire meal but I much prefer that over it going cold so that was a plus. Also we all ordered it medium but we couldn't really taste any spice so we would def do hot or extra hot. Although they give you so many extra sauces to customize it so I loved that as well!! The food itself I personally loved. We got three entrees, crispy spring rolls, and a Thai iced tea. Drunken noodles with chicken: my brother ordered this and for him it wasn't his favorite drunken noodles but when I tried it I loved it!! Pretty basil forward (again I loved it) and everything was cooked well, chicken was super tender. Tom Kha Noodle Soup: this was mine! Again different from how I think I've had before in that it was a super thick broth? The ones I've had have a much stronger coconut broth and it's pretty creamy and thick but this one was a little more mild but had great flavor!! I don't typically like a strong thick coconut base so probably why I loved this one more. Got it with soft tofu (much preferred over fried) and everything was great. Took it home for leftovers. A smaller portion than some restaurants but was perfect sized for us. Massaman chicken curry: my dad's and it was also finished up and wonderful! Everyone liked this one and it was quite a big serving. Kinda tasted a bit similar to tomato soup but in a this had extra seasonings and stuff good way. Crispy spring rolls were good!! The sauce that was served with it was hella sticky and thick but I liked the flavor of that. Thai iced tea was phenomenal. Not super sweet or extra creamy it was more tea forward which is something I always love.

Yelp
If you are looking for authentic tastes of Thai cuisine, this is unfortunately not the place for you. To begin, papaya salad was not on the menu-bummer. I ordered drunken noodle (pad kee mao). The flavor was lackluster and there was virtually zero spice for that dish (I want Phĕd māk). A bit disappointing.. tasted as if there was little to no fish sauce or MSG. It was missing the umami notes. Do keep in mind this restaurant is in Pacific Beach- do what you please with that information. Overall, was not satisfied with the experience.

Yelp
This is a nice thai spot in Pb, was fairly empty around lunch time for a dine in. Easy to order and delicious food. Pad see ew 5/5 spice was decent not the spiciest but it was good still. Their pad thai was spot on and overall portion size was very chill for lunch. Their spring roll and side sauce is so good that was a standout for a usually no frills appetizer elsewhere. Recommend for quick lunch sesh or even just a chill pick up in Pacific Beach.

Yelp
Ordered via grub hub delivery. Pros: -Everything was delicious! -the Massaman chicken curry was flavorful and the chicken was incredibly tender. -portions are generous. -the gai tod dipped in the sauce was a bit sweet and savory- so good! Cons: -n/a

Yelp
This place was decent, I just wish there was a little more. Stopped by after a long day at the beach. I tried the fried tofu, gai tod (fried chicken), and beef pad see ew. Gai Tod -- These were boneless. They had a nice seasoning to them and my boyfriend really liked them. I do wish they did a more traditional bone-in fried chicken. The sauce that it came with surprised me. It was very thick, almost a corn syrup texture. I've never had anything like it. Fried Tofu -- Bleh. That's what it tasted like. No seasoning whatsoever. Literally just tofu... fried. They should do something more with this. Maybe a salt n pepper tofu. Regretted getting this. Beef Pad See Ew -- The noodles were soft. Beef was tender. Not much veggies and mainly thick stems that were bitter. Besides the veggies, no complaints. The restaurant was big, tall ceilings, lots of plants. Organic modern and a little industrial. You order at a register up front and then find a seat with the number they sign they give you. We had a big party and it got confusing fast. The man bringing out the food wasn't really looking at our numbers and was just calling out the dishes which was confusing bc some of us ordered the same or similar dishes. The man at the front register (I think he had glasses) was nice.

Yelp
My pick up order last night didn't show up on their system so when I got there they had to start it. I then realized the main and the side soup were the exact same size. I got the yellow curry, ($13?) and a small side soup ($5) and they were the exact same size. Over all mid experience.

Yelp
Ordered from uber eats, has got to be the worst Thai food I've ever had. The massaman curry was trash, I can't even describe why it was horrible. The chicken and flavor was disgusting. The pad see ew might have been worse, the beef was gray, sad and chewy. I can't believe the rating of this place. Cereal for dinner instead

Yelp
Delicious, easy and aesthetically nice environment! Great prices too! The Tom Kha soup is fantastic!
google avatar

Yelp
Exceptional! The restaurant atmosphere is open, with plenty of seating and room, with a couple of water fountains that offer some ambient sound. The staff here are nice and patient, as this was our first time ordering here. We order the yellow curry and pad thai. Less than 10 minutes of ordering they came with our food. Usually with service that quick the food quality won't be as good but boy were we wrong. The food was outstanding. Fresh tasting, and bursting with flavor. Perhaps one of the best Thai restaurants in San Diego in our opinion. Great price and great portions. It's also within walking distance of the beach. I strongly recommend checking this place out!

Yelp
a cute and casual thai spot in the heart of pb. you order at the front and seat yourself, and they bring the food out to you. ambiance is very laid back and easy going, and i'm a big fan of the plants. the pad see ew with chicken was delicious and i enjoyed every bite! one of the best pad see ew's i've had in san diego. however, note that the portion sizes are a bit small in my opinion (especially compared to the price - $12.95 + tax and tip for this dish). also, they serve the food on plastic/disposable plates which isn't the most sustainable and kind of takes away from the ambiance. however, if you're looking for a quick bite and craving yummy thai food, i would definitely recommend! it seems like much of their business is take out as well. i would recommend 55 thai kitchen and come back for other dishes :)

Yelp
I'm going to start with the positives and that's that the prices are pretty good. The fried spring rolls are a buck a piece and that's a great deal. Same with the soups. I want to say it was $6 for my bowl of soup and it was a good size. Now for the not so good. My friend and I both like spice. We had sriracha and Tapatio to our food often. But we were not really in the spicy mood so we both went with a medium for our Pad Thai and Pad See ew. I know my goodness it was barely edible. Our medium for spice level was absolute super spicy hot. I guess all they do is put chili flakes on it as our dishes were just smothered in red. If I had eating it there I absolutely would have said something and have them remake it. But we did a pickup order and did not see this till we got home and we could not even enjoy our food. He couldn't even get past the first two bites. Very disappointing. Complete waste of $30 for our two dishes. As far as parking it is on Garnett so it's Street parking. And the Ambiance in the building is Bench style seating. there is also a super long one that's a communal table. When I picked up my food on a Friday night it was interesting to see not one single person sitting in the communal table but on the other side there were a bunch of different people all sitting at tables. I don't think people are fan of the communal table hahaha.

Yelp
The PB location is located off of garnet with big tables great for groups... why do pizza when you can do Thai food. If you are a carbi-barbie do it with 55 Thai Kitchen, their downtown location looked closed with a fence and graffiti infront, so go to the PB location as it's outfitted with quick service, hot fresh food and the staff is super nice.

Yelp
I'm not gonna lie, the first time I came here a couple months ago I was a bit disappointed. I'd heard really good things, and I was expecting it to be quite so.. casual I guess? But this time I knew what I was getting, and it was much more enjoyable. This food isn't going to blow you away, but it's tasty and very cheap for SD. I got chicken pad see ew, a good sized portion, for like $14. It came over very quickly. It was a little greasy, and could've had more broccoli, but the chicken was yummy and the noodles were cooked well. The wooden tables are cute. The guys who work here are nice. Not a bad spot at all.

Yelp
Love getting takeout from here. I've never dined inside but always love the food we get to go. Our order got messed up once but the staff was very helpful and accommodating!

Yelp
So good! We have this 2x month. Sometimes they have mango sticky rice too. Really friendly, quick, and great food. It's a really nice restaurant and well decorated although most people get takeout

Yelp
What a great spot for Thai food in Pacific Beach. It is one of the gems that I would say is worth visiting because it fed my whole family for a pretty good price. The crispy spring rolls were pretty good and crisp. The green curry was a surprising star because of the spicy of coconut and squash. We also got Tom Kha soup in the side of brown rice and steamed vegetables. I would skip the Massaman curry because it was a little too sweet for my taste. Worth a visit.

Yelp
Outgoing food order service was absolute garbage. Ordered through DoorDash-yum beef salad had NO dressing. So yeah, I got a bowl of raw vegetables and meat. Order had no utensils, napkin, etc. Zero attention to detail. Will not order from them again.

Yelp
I came here on a Friday afternoon around 2pm as I used to work by the 55 Thai Kitchen downtown (it closed) and I ordered from there a lot and have fond memories of the food. The interior is huge. There is plenty of indoor seating and some outdoor seating (plus koi pond). There is a lot of greenery and water feature with plants. I walked to the counter and ordered thai fried rice (cause I am basic and it is what I always ordered and liked the best). To my surprise it came with a spring roll included. After a short wait I got my food. It was steaming hot! Fresh out the kitchen. But then I tasted it and it tasted burnt. I was hungry so I ate it but was disappointed as the only flavor was char/burnt. The chicken did not seem seasoned at all and it was overall very lackluster and not how I remembered it. It was a pain to get here as it is on the outskirts of PB and street parking nearby is hard to find. I parked about a half a mile away and walked and was really looking forward to it and it was just disappointing. Which I guess is a good thing as I won't want it again and can avoid the traffic and hassle of getting there.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is always bomb Affordable and FLAVORFUL most importantly The soups are $6 which is great because its the perfect portion size! I always hate getting a $13 soup for just 1 person. The pad se ew is top notch one of the best I've had. The medium spice is perfect, definitely has a kick but not overwhelming. They nailed everything here. Takeout or dine in.
google avatar

Emily S.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a Sunday and had the whole place to ourselves. I think the restaurants atmosphere is great-- very open space with huge menu at cashier to look from. I love the casual concept of ordering at the front. I got the drunken noodles with chicken and was pleasantly surprised at how much vegetables they put in. I received way more vegetables than chicken. There were really only three pieces of chicken in my order, but the flavor was good. I will say I ordered it medium spicy but it was not at all spicy to me so I had to ask for chili oil. The staff was friendly and even came by to check on us and if we needed anything. The other sticking point is everything comes in throw away containers. It would be nice if they used plates and silverware to reduce waste.

Yelp
My sister has been wanting to try out 55 Thai Kitchen so today we decided to have lunch there. I had the Pad Thai with tofu and it was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!! The gentleman behind the counter brought out 3 free egg rolls (my nephew was also with us) which was a pleasant surprise. I am totally in love with the ambiance of the interiors. Loving all of the greenery!! I would definitely recommend!
google avatar

Sunset C.

Yelp
Best Pad Thai in Pacific Beach. Love this place and have become a loyal regular. I love that I can order online and they send me coupons. The food is always good quality and portion size is great. Love this place!
google avatar

T S.

Yelp
Been here at least 3 times in the past 2 months. Each time it's just as delicious as the last. Have tried several different items and each are good. The drunken noodles are a stand out for me, delish. Friendly service. Cool vibe inside. Good location. Will be back.
google avatar

William Z.

Yelp
Menu is very limited and what they do have is quite pedestrian. Definitely do not recommend.
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
The best Thai food I've had. I cant remember the last time I've enjoyed a meal so much. I wish I lived closer. Friendly staff. Fast service. Great space. Ordered green curry with Tofu. Crispy spring rolls. Pad See Ew with chicken. Brown rice. Thai coffee. All were 10/10.
google avatar

Pimlada I.

Yelp
Food is good. I had spicy basil and fried egg on top. I think they used dark meat. The portion of chicken fried rice is good. They serve it on disposable and plastic utensils. You order at the counter and pay. Clean up after yourself. The service is self-serving, but the lady is very nice and brings the food to my table. The ambiance is like Cafe Terria Large dining room clean no AC .

Julia H.

Yelp
UNBELIEVABLY DELICIOUS AND AFFORDABLE, especially comparatively. I was so happy to hear that both the Tom Kha and Tom Yum are vegetarian, made without fish sauce. I tried Monday and am already ordering again. MY NEW FAVORITE THAI PLACE!!! Super stoked :) you will be too!

Yelp
Food: The spicy basil chicken (pictured) is definitely not what I am used to. The chicken was chopped up in small pieces. This made it spicier, but it was a little different. My wife got Pad See Ew and the tofu was very rubbery. Plus, only bok Choy for veggies? They need some color, throw some peppers and onions in the mix. We did like how the plates were paper instead of styrofoam so that was a plus! Service: Our Server was Great, no complaints on the service. While we were there, a few other people came in but overall it was a little dead. The tables all had dry crusty food on them, so (suggestion?) instead of sitting back behind the counter doing nothing, perhaps a wipe down of the tables would be good...? Atmosphere: Music inside is a little loud... if you sit on the left side of the restaurant, it will blast in your ears. The cute waterfall and koi pond out front are both nice. It's a cool place, very chic and modern. Price: Middle of the road, like a lot of places. Also, portion wise it seemed about right... expect to pay 40$ for two people. That seems like the new norm for a sit down place. Overall: The food was good but... different than what we have seen. Not sure what to do about that. Music, loud... tables, meh... price, okay. I would come back to try something else to see if might have been just these two plates, but we'll see. The place is not traditional Thai food for sure, but it works in this neck of the woods.
google avatar

Lene V.

Yelp
Good sized portions. Good Price. Good flavors and delivered on time. Can't ask for much more than that. I had the Pad thai and like that you can get it with tofu and chicken with no extra cost and the Tom Kha soup is one of the best I've had.
google avatar

Karina R.

Yelp
The food was good and I will be back! The portions and price was great, and nice ambiance as well. My food came out fast which I appreciated. Bonus points because my lychee green tea was tasty! Not too sweet and lychee flavor was there which I really appreciate. 5/5 experience ! (Street parking can be tough but not too bad)
google avatar

Maya K.

Yelp
Super good pad Thai! Also for the Thai iced coffee with coconut milk and it was soooooo good- more on the sweeter side. Big portion for a really good price and super sweet staff helping us out. The inside is gorgeous and spacious, I love the communal dining tables! Really cool spot right on Garnet :)
google avatar

Yelp
TLDR * Easy walk to restaurant; big area to dine * Easy-going staff * Great Thai food Went to 55 Thai on a late night and was not disappointed. The dining area is big enough to fit a whole party, or to have an intimate date night. The staff gave great recommendations on what food to get and what was popular. I ordered the Panang curry (wasn't able to get a photo) and was delighted with everything from flavor to portion size. Definitely going to be coming back!
google avatar

Jen S.

Yelp
I always get their noodle soup! It's soooo good! Every time! And their egg rolls are killer! Fast orders and killer service!
google avatar

Jennie V.

Yelp
Wow!! The food we ordered was so yummy that I'm still thinking about it a day later. I ordered the veggie fried rice, tofu and fried tofu. It was all so good and satisfying. The restaurant is large, cute and clean. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. We ordered at the register then found a perfect table to sit and he brought the food out quickly which was nice because we were very hungry.

Bruce R.

Yelp
I ordered the spicy Thai basil. I asked it to be medium spicy, and it was way hotter than that. The chicken that they used was just an appealing in its appearance. The taste was decent, but I wouldn't go back nor would I recommend it the restaurant.
google avatar

Nancy S.

Yelp
I love the taste of green curry, but my old, white lady gut disciplines me if I dare. I asked Thai 55 if they could make my favorite veggie green curry at a cracker zero. They delivered beautifully!! I order the same thing 1-2 times a week now, and tip $3-4 with each pick up, because I get it to-go, (I get three meals from it) and they always make it correctly, don't make fun of my honkie order, and always give friendly service. It's one of the few Thai places in town that doesn't have a fish paste aftertaste. Well done!
google avatar

Howard Z.

Yelp
Excellent food, great fast casual concept. They impart a lot of flavor into their rice and noodle dishes, even if you want no spice or mild. Very good flavor profiles and the soups are very good as well. A must try in Pac Beach

Rob G.

Yelp
This is such good Thai food!!!!! I have had such a hard time finding good Thai food around here but this is really up to my standards, and those are pretty high!
google avatar

Thomas T.

Yelp
Food is amazing and you can't go wrong with curries or soups they have. The fried tofu is great too! The chicken thigh curry is the MVP

Kartick K.

Yelp
Nice Thai food.. good place for dine in or to pick up food.. Not too many options but whatever they have on the menu it's worth every penny..

Lauryn W.

Yelp
Yummy spring rolls and pad see ew! Fast service and have plenty of sides for takeout. I love this dish
google avatar

Colton N.

Yelp
Loved it here!!! We got the pad Thai and chicken and it was really great- huge portion sizes and really nice employees. Will be coming back
google avatar

Anna E.

Yelp
I didn't realize until after I sat down and started eating, that I'd been here before! But it was the SDSU location. This location is super bright and airy. The first time I had pad thai with chicken and it came out piping hot. It's also a huge portion for the price. It wasn't exactly traditional, but it was definitely tasty! For my second visit, I had the drunken noodles with chicken. It had lots of basil and a good amount of spice, but nothing overpowering. This was also a good portion for the price. So far, 55 Thai Kitchen is 3 for 3 (including SDSU). The noodles are flavorful and the chicken is tender, what more can you ask for?
google avatar

Victoria L.

Yelp
Lots of communal seating in an open high ceiling - no frills building. Outside patio seating too. And if you're a dog person - eat with your pup in or outdoors! I had the ginger stir fry and it was heavy in ginger, which I actually enjoyed. Rice was a bit mushy and flavor was decent but not spectacular. Portions were good though. Food is served on throw away plates. So when I say no frills, imagine quick easy convenient.

Jessica V.

Yelp
Veggies seemed old and not clean, food wasn't as fresh as I hoped. My order also canceled the first time after an hour
google avatar

Hang L.

Yelp
We've eaten from this place a few times - delivery and in person. We've tried the rice dishes, noodles, and soups and everything was really good. The servers were always very friendly and you can usually find a place to sit and eat, if you wanted.
google avatar

Victoria R.

Yelp
Great spot to get Thai food! The menu wasn't very big but still great choices! I recommend their pad Thai with tofu and the Tom yum soup! Very yummy and flavorful! I always love their fresh spring rolls with tofu. Friendly and fast service! Plenty of seating as well. You have to find street parking so I am sure during the busy times that can be hard. Overall great food! I would definitely come back!

Yelp
My favorite thai place prices are incredible food is hot and fast and its a huge place not busy Pad se ew is my go to so damn good i could eat there everyday massaman chicken thigh curry is my favorite curry ever meat is soft, sauce is sweet and thick yellow curry is just ok a bit watery but overall i could definitely live next door!
