Friendly staffs. Always a pleasure to chitchat with the Cantonese uncles and aunties. $6.5 lunch specials with variety of entrees to choose from. While this is a smaller store, it’s never too overwhelming to get the help you need. It’s clean and orderly compared to other Chinatown grocery stores.

Next to the meat market, they also have the fresh seafood and fresh produce. The fresh veggies are abundant. Like the kangkung or water spinach and fresh bean sprout. They also have lots of fresh meat as well as prepared and cooked food. Mostly spicy Cantonese food. You can buy them packed or per pound.

I wanted to try cooking Chinese-style chicken feet at home and was looking for a grocery store that sells them. And this place does! (pics) Yay. So yeah, if you're looking for a grocery store in NYC that sells chicken feet...they do. The fresh veggie selection is pretty solid as well....

I love shopping here. It’s almost never crowded, the meat selection is fresh and abundant, and they carry all your basic Asian pantry items and fresh produce. Selection isn’t as huge or as diverse as larger markets but I prefer the simplicity of that. Everything is also very fresh and well-priced.

The best prices for pork I have found in the city. The pork is great quality as well—it has turned out excellently every time I cooked it. While I am usually the only non-Chinese person in the store, the staff speaks English and the whole community is very welcoming. Purchases under $10 must be made with cash, and you can buy a decent amount of meat for under $10, so keep this in mind. The store often has specials going on as well and these are a nice bonus. I did buy some large chicken legs on a special and they were huge, concerningly so, almost the size of small turkey legs. Admittedly, this made me wonder where the large chicken legs are being sourced from. Small chicken legs are available, however, (though I have not purchased them), but I have had the pork shoulder, pork loin, and ground pork, and they have all been great. They also have pork neck bones which are an under appreciated find!

Bayard Meat Market is actually 2 stores in one. The meat market side has fresh meats cut and sliced for Chinese cooking. The staff is generally friendly and tries to be helpful. There are also prepared foods for quick reheatable meals. A selection of pantry items, sauces and condiments in the back of the store. The sister store next door has fresh vegetables and seafood. It also has prepackaged pork and chicken if you don't feel like going next door to the meat market. Prices are fair, although cheaper prices can be had at Hong Kong Market. Convenient location allows you to go to the bakery and Great Noodletown on the same block. Then just cross the street to grab M103 bus to go uptown or downtown.

Very popular among this neighborhood, offers a wide variety of Asian foods, both cooked and uncooked. The staff is friendly enough, but can only do so much due the places popularity. Prices are average. This is a good place to buy some take out to take home or some fresh groceries as well.

I would like to give a 0-star rating, but Google doesn’t offer that option.
