5x5 Brewing Co.

With only a few breweries in the Valley this is by far my favorite. Located in my hometown of Mission, TX this brewery makes some delicious beers including a Blood Orange Kolsch that’s the official beer of the UTRGV Vaqueros. They have beer on draft and available for flights, growlers, and is also sold in cans. Definitely a brewery for any beer lover to visit. The staff is friendly and kind.

Thankfully this location saves us from the barren beer dessert that is bud light and Alamo beer. If you are in mission , try their brunette bombshell( 5 stars - takes 2 to feel a good buzz if ya 6ft 230lbs) If ya like dark beer their 40 mm stout - nice cool coffee taste. If you into sweeter things their lady liberty (strawberry seltzer) or blue falcon (coconut) is like kissing a flower on a summer day.

Friendly staff , good beer , the weather was great that day , I would suggest a porta potty or something similar for the men outside, maybe during busy days Overall great experience !

We have been here several times. Each time, we feel as if the beer on tap is not chill enough. The decor is great, pays homage to our Vets. Limited seating inside, but great ample picnic style bench seating outside. They don’t have a food menu. But no need, there are plenty of food trucks around the area where you’ll find something great to go hand in hand with their craft beer.

Had a Los Vaqueros Blood Orange Kölsch. Awesome! Took 4 of the same in crowlers to go. Many other great craft beers to choose from! Vet owned and run. Very cool place! Lots of outside lighted seating! Come on folks! What are you waiting for?! Grab some friends are come on down solo. You will be treated with respect and as a friend! Cheers!

It's alright if you like only beer, they make they do NOT carry other beer other than theirs. I was not a fan of the beer. I tasted the one of their lightest and was nit thrilled called the Blonde. I gave it away. They should carry other beers, but I guess that's why it's a brewery of their own. I mean, everyone's taste buds are different, yet mine couldn't adapt. Yet one thing that would be helpful if they had small samples just to see if the customer likes it. If not, it is a hit or miss and money you would hate to lose and not drink. And be upset that you spent it on something you disliked. If you're a regular well obviously you know what is ir was your cup of tea. But if you're a newby, it is a hit or miss. In my case, I didn't like the taste. So I will go for events but not to drink.

Love the great craft beers! The Stout is still my favorite! As for the Taproom? It's awesome...great bar! Love the look and design! The patio? Very nice! A great place to hang out and enjoy a craft beer under our fantastic South Texas night skies! I will have to say that what I love about this place the most, however, is that it is Veteran-owned and operated. Congratulations on such a fine establishment with spectacular craft brews for us to enjoy! Finally, my sincere thanks and gratitude for your service to the United States of America. 🇺🇸

Props for putting on a jalapeno lager (extra spicy, but an uncommon treat). Juicy IPA wasn't trying very hard. They're the sole on-tap beer at RGV, where they had several that weren't at the brewery. Militaristic decor will probably turn on some and off others. Disjointed staff, but on-site owners were trying their best.

Hubby & I checked out 5x5 Brewing Co during their June Bug Festival & had a great time. Tried the Golden Ale which was refreshing & delicious. The crowd was pleasant, live music entertaining & weather was hot. Great evening of check out all the Volkswagens that were brought in.

I have seen and tried 5x5 brewings beers all over Texas and when I found the brewery was right here in McAllen I had to check it out. It looks like they have two food vendors outside but only one was open. It was a small taquero man making tacos. I had an order of ref tacos and they were really good. The brewery itself has a huge outdoor area. Inside is very military themed. Patches, medals, bullets in the bartop under the glass the whole nine yards. The beer is excellent. They have a lot of styles on tap and not just 7 IPA's. Theres stout, porter, IPA, Hefeweizen, etc. They probably have what you're looking for. Definitely stop in and sample some brews!

Every time we come, our beers are not as cold as we like. They have limited indoor seating but plenty of outdoor picnic style benches.

Met a buddy of mine here who lives in the valley while I was on a work trip. All of the beers were very good, we especially enjoyed the dopple bock and dunkle. Great service and friendly staff

This was one of two breweries that I visited in the area after the 2023 Texas Master Naturalist annual meeting. There may have been other breweries in the McAllen area, but they didn't come up for me when I searched with Siri. This was easy to find, And there is lots of parking. Most of the seating is outdoor on a covered patio. I like that when it is cool enough. On this particular day, the weather was perfect. I only had one flight here, because it was my second brewery of the day. You can only drink so much before driving is out of the question. The entire place seemed to be being run by one young man. Let me stress the young man part. This young fella looked like a middle school kid. He was very polite, welcoming, and friendly. I took my flight out to the patio and enjoyed it there. I liked all of the beers, but just like the other place I visited, I am taking away a point for not having the beers updated on Untappd. In the world of craft beer drinking, that should be a punishable crime. How about beers are free if they're not on the Untappd list?

Great craft beer, good people and various activities support local charities. Local musical artists what else do you need? Great company!

absolutely outstanding!! Bartender Lori was amazing. Love the Blood orange coffee stout mix. needs a name and a place on the board. Going back next week.

This place is awesome my husband and I make it a date night!! Service is always great!! We tried a couple different beers and they have a variety of food trucks!!

Beer is pretty good and great atmosphere. It's right next to a little food truck park with great outdoor seating. Definitely will be back again.

Had a lovely time here at 5x5 Brewery! Everyone was welcoming and so friendly. This place offers fresh, home brewed beer. It's not as carbonated due to the process of fermentation-if I'm correct in my understanding. They were open today and offered free pizza from the Brick Oven pizza place. The pizza was delightful! We so enjoy a thin crust of goodness! I had a Spitfire which had a citrus flavor & tasted so good that I had two. My boyfriend had two Alts which had a much deeper flavor but just as good. The owner are veterans, and we love patronizing a wonderful locally owned and run establishment. You can taste the effort and love they put into this beer and business! We will be returning for more future events which you can find out about on their Facebook account. You can see G. Rice one of the 5 co-owners discuss the business. He was also on hand today serving and coming outside to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. Wonderful service by our honored veterans.

Great beer and great prices. The outside seating is perfect for a cool Texas night and there is a good variety of beer. Face masks are enforced and the ambiance is unique. Live music is awesome and a perfect touch to the experience.

Great place. Have been here twice and the service is great. They had live music and a food truck as well. Great craft beers. They give military and service personnel discounts.

Detailed for 5 weeks from NJ. Found this brewery. Excellent small batch selection. Every beer was well crafted. The food truck and music added to the ambiance. The owners and staff were super friendly. Wish I could bring them to the east coast Highly recommended.

Great vibe! The beer was good and cold. I only wish their inside area was larger, their outside patio is nice but the heat kills you. I will be back !

Amazing beer on tap with great staff. Stayed for the entertainment and tried their flight. Ever beer had a craft flavor.

The beer is excellent but the customer service is horrible in the tap room. They made me leave because I wasn't wearing a face mask when half the staff behind the bar also were not wearing face masks. I ended up coming back with a face mask and the staff was rude for rest of my stay, even giving me a sarcastic "sure" when I paid my tab and said thank you to the bartender.
