Food was great! Had my favorite breakfast. Veggie omelette and French toast. The owner is kind. The young girl server was friendly and helpful but the older slender server was not pleased seeing a black guy in an all white diner. She couldn’t even look at me. She’s on one of the pictures I uploaded.

Stopped here for lunch during a cross country drive. Excellent small town diner atmosphere. Reminds me of the classic diners you see in movies. Friendly service and great food. If I’m ever passing through the area again, I will make a point to come back

Google
Great little hole in the wall bar. Restaurant area we enjoyed the food. I was amazed at how big the menu was in the fact that they had breakfast or lunch the whole time. They were open. That's awesome. The food was good.

We came for breakfast at lunch time. My husband had a jumbo serving of food called Army Breakfast. A very large biscuits and gravy and large hunks of thick cut bacon. He loved it. I had a burger and it was fresh and okay. I was hoping for some old school ffs. We were greeted by a probable owner who offered us some complimentary pie. Waitress was awesome. Great hometown traditional menu and vibe. Next time I'm doing breakfast.

Google
Great place to stop for a good breakfast. Outside it really does look like a hole in the wall... But it's spacious inside with its old time feel. It is connected to "the hole in the wall" restaurant which is serviced by the same kitchen. Great place with decent prices.

My wife and I had a great breakfast at the 600 Cafe. If you are not from Montana, walking inside is like traveling back in time to the 1940s. The art on the walls transports you into a frontier of yore, and the country cooking tastes like your grandmother's recipe.

Google
This was a great stop! The staff was friendly and the food was out in a timely manner (maybe 25-30 minutes). Everyone in my party enjoyed their meals and were given pretty big portions. This space is clean and obviously cared for. I would definitely recommend to stop here, especially if you’re considering it!

Google
Home cooked food in an old-time western setting. This restaurant reminded me a little bit of Irma's in Cody, Wyoming, but a little bit more authentic and much less touristy. The atmosphere is perfect if you're looking for a classic "western" experience. Sit on the whole-in-the-wall side near the bar.

Yelp
The food was so good and right on. Our server was very sweet and got to our requests immediately. The ambiance was busy and loud. Wish we could visit again.

Yelp
What a great diner. Thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday breakfast with them last week. They had no problem with our party of 10 and everyone raved about the food. Plenty of parking and a cool little park right by it. Miles City was a wonderful place to visit.

Yelp
A Great place for really good food and their servers offer terrific customer service. Breakfast is awesome and they have a lot to choose from. I'm still looking forward to trying their biscuits & gravy. Their lunch menu is also good with a lot of lunch selections. Try their Tomato Mac soup! It was recommended by our server and it will not disappoint you. The Bacon Cheeseburger is scrumptious. And, be sure to save room for their epic Caramel Rolls. Be careful though, they are highly addictive. Our Server was just amazing. She went above and beyond! When I opened the Ketchup bottle some popped out onto my blouse. (It was totally my fault). However, she noticed what happened, and a few minutes later she dropped by to bring me a napkin with a little bit of water on it so I could try to clean the ketchup off my blouse. (How thoughtful). I'm embarrassed that I never got the name of our Server. But, we did leave her a really good tip. GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY!

Yelp
Mediocre at best ..... Local cafe that closes right after lunch at 2PM . Tipped 30% (cause that's what I do) cash & did not receive a thank you .....

Yelp

Yelp
Friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Small rural town feel and solid, filling food with traditional meals. The steak and chicken/pork are very good with delicious gravy, and eggs with hash browns are simple but we'll prepared. Even tho it is in town and off the highway it is well worth stopping for. Fresh baked pastries and pies, if you look around you could be back in time. We like eating here, and both sides of the restaurant are excellent.

Yelp
This is a fun place to eat with a beautiful old back bar that's worth a minute of your time to inspect. I had the soup and salad bar for lunch and it was really a kick to do that after 15 months of Covid lockdown. In addition to clam chowder (I went on a Friday did you guess?) one of the other soups was a hot dish. It was like eating at a church potluck. The salad bar had the usual greens and veggies and the blue cheese dressing I tried tasted homemade. If you give this place a try, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Yelp
This is still the best cafe along this route to stop and eat at. The waitresses have been here forever and have great service. The old fashioned ness of this place is worth stopping for. Lots of great murals of scenes around Montana. Oh and the food is great too!

Yelp
Driving through town, stopped by for breakfast. Good food, great service, cozy atmosphere.

Yelp
Great home town cafe for breakfast. The first day I had chic fried steak and lacked flavor but the hash browns were spot on! Very friendly folks. The 2nd day was biscuits and gravy! Soft biscuits and they were very good. The bacon and toast, well it was bacon! Yum! See ya next time Side note. No CC here cash accepted.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Really nice diner!! Had a lot of choices on the menu! Staff was very friendly and efficient! I had a delicious Philly Cheesesteak with fries. My husband had French toast and sausage. Perfect spot after a long drive.

Lisa R.

Yelp
What a fun old building, and the food was delicious. Amazing soup, excellent meat. Service was exceptional and we just had a great time. Lots of fun ambience. I'd go back in a heart beat, and I sure wish we'd had more time to check out the city!

Yelp
Quiet environment this late Monday morning. 10:45 I had my pick of breakfast or lunch menu. Waitress was prompt to my table and with taking my order. Coffee was kept full during my visit. Had a fried egg sandwich and fries. Fries are the processed battered fries. My sandwich was a bit dry even, I'll ask for a side of mayo next time. No salt or pepper used, but easily added at the table. All in all a decent meal served hot and in a timely manner.

Yelp
This is exactly what I want in a small town cafe. The coffee is really good. The eggs are perfectly cooked. And the staff could not be nicer. In the midst of a cross country move, having a car break down on the way, this place is an oasis. Small town charm spills out onto the street, and cozy warmth greets you inside. Everything is scrubbed clean, and the staff knows their regulars by name. This place is perfect. And I feel better for having come inside.

Yelp
I was at the 600 I ordered porkchops and mashed potatoes. The gravy was unseaned and stunk. The porkchops were undercooked. U seasoned and stunk. I know it's a room restaurant but I think they need a different cook

David L.

Yelp
I could not stomach the owner Gloria coming out into the dining area and angrily yelling at two regular customers saying to them "You need to stop giving gifts to the staff. You hear. You need to stop with the gifts!" I asked the person I was having breakfast with if she was seriously yelling at these people for giving gifts, and she replied, "Oh that's Gloria the owner and that's what she does." I lost my appetite and I wished I would have stood up and asked her to stop harassing her customers in front of everyone. There must have been about 20 people at the time having a meal this last Monday morning.

Yelp
Great local spot- small town friendly staff, quick service, good comfort food-portions are generous and prices are fair. We would return for the experience and a good meal.

Yelp
This is a small town American diner at its best. At the east end of Main St. in Miles City, MT, this place has been around since the late 40's. The lunch counter has worn spots where diners have taken their meals every day at high noon. The food is made and served by little old blue haired ladies who care, and is cheap. The menu ranges from salads to steak. Everything has meat in it. Fresh soups made daily. Don't ask for a double half caf latte here. You will get blank stares followed by a smile and a decent cup of cofffee. If you're blowing through southern MT on I-94 this stop is worth it. Cash only, open 6am-2pm all week.

Yelp
If you are looking for a diner style breakfast this place nails it. Since I wake up early during cross-country trips I tend to leave the hotel really early so I don't have a chance to have breakfast. Since I had stayed in Glendive, Miles City became the plan to grab a meal. On the main strip in downtown is the 600, an unassuming little place on the corner. The menu is not huge but I was looking for the pretty basic eggs, hashbrowns and toast. The eggs were perfectly over easy as ordered. The hashbrowns were exactly the way I like them - crispy and brown with light as a feather interior and not greasy. The toast was super crispy and the bread was definitely a cut above what most places serve when you order wheat toast. The cook really knows what he is doing. Service was quick and friendly and I would definitely take the time to find this place again.

Yelp
I have one dish that I rate diners on: Chicken Fried Steak and eggs. I don't go to diners for the atmosphere. I don't go there for the service. I don't go there to talk to the waitress. So if you want any of those things, don't use my review as basis. I don't care about them, so they don't factor. To say I enjoyed this meal would be an understatement. One of the best CFS I've had in a long time. The gravy was perfect. The eggs were cooked to perfection. I always ask for soft scrambled with chaddar. But usually I get hard, dry scrambled eggs with some cheddar cheese sprinkled ontop. Not here. Exactly like I asked. The coffee too was very tasty. I had to ask for a refil, but for me that's good. I don't like the waitress constantly trying to put more coffee into my mug and screw up the ratio of cream/sugar/coffee. Next time I'm in town, I know where I'll be eating breakfast!

Yelp
Great local place to get a real breakfast. Staff is very welcoming and food is legendary.

Yelp
Had the chicken fried steak and it was just ok, nothing special. The cafe is pretty cool looking though, it had a really old school 60's look it it, & the service was good.

Yelp
Always my first stop for breakfast or lunch when I visit my hometown! I grew up having breakfast here and have now lived in 5 states and have yet to find anywhere like the 600. Everything is homemade from scratch and delicious. Fresh caramel rolls, great soup and salad bar with homemade salads and dressings (the tomato mac soup is the nectar of my childhood, and what anyone from Miles City knows this place by). Added bonus for keeping my old rodeo photos up on the shelf in the cafe, this place will always feel like home. A trip to Miles City is not complete without a meal at the 600. Thank you Grenz family for your hard work in making this family owned business the best in the community for so many years.

Yelp
We stopped here for a late breakfast on the last leg of a long (OR to ND) drive home and were pleasantly surprised by classic diner ambiance. The food was classic diner as well - not spectacular, but solid and well executed. I ordered the vegetable omelette with sausage, and the hash browns were perfectly crisp, the omelette was hot and melty, and the veggies were al dente. My fiancé had the chicken fried steak, which was tender with thin, crispy breading. The service was good, and the pricing was reasonable. The reason we gave this 4 stars is only because of a few small details, like the cheese being processed and the sausage gravy seemed like a canned version. Also, we ate at another diner in Twin Falls that had homemade blackberry jam, so the packages strawberry jelly fell flat for us :) We will return on future cross-country trips!

Yelp
This place is where you go to get excellent caramel rolls. They were fresh out of the oven and were delicious. My parents ate their wedding rehearsal dinner at the 600 cafe 67 years ago and my hubby and I ate ours there, with my parents, 35 years ago. Lots of great memories.

Yelp
Great down home cooking. Quality local beef, we all loved it. Don't forget the fresh pie.

Yelp
Good old fashion diner food. I love the breakfast here. Great service and food. The dinner on Friday/sat is great. My go to as of lately is 1/2 order biscuits and gravy, two eggs and 4 pieces of bacon. Coffee is good here as well
google avatar

Yelp
Good food, quick friendly service and very good prices. Open for breakfast and lunch - they close at 2:00. Their soups are delish!
google avatar

Yelp
Just to clarify: I only had a cup of soup. But what a GREAT cup of soup it was. And I don't even like soup. It was the tomato hamburger macaroni, and yes, it had a ton of meat in it. The service was great, and very laid-back. And I was able to pay with a credit card, which is a huge help, because this town doesn't have my bank and I run out of cash pretty quickly.

Yelp
My wife and I were on a high plains vacation, May, 2013. We left Medora, ND in the morning, heading for Custer's Battlefield. Wherever we are - especially unfamiliar surroundings - we look for the quintessential blue plate breakfast joint, on a quest for the best comfort food. Am I glad we pulled off the interstate in Miles City, and found the 600 cafe! Best chicken fried steak and eggs I've ever had. And my wife is still obsessing about the special something (I have no idea) that she couldn't identify which made their gravy soooooooooooo distinctive and memorable. The breakfast was DELICIOUS, and so ample it held us 'til a 6 pm dinner that night. God bless America's blue plate cafes!

Yelp
I must say this is a excellent place to eat. Everything is fresh and perfectly done the bacon was really good so I asked the waitress where they get their bacon from guess the owner cuts his own meat downstairs. Has that 50s vibe to it.

Yelp
This diner was great. A friend and I were driving through Montana and stopped here for a quick meal. Fantastic greasy spoon diner food...perfect eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, etc. Wonderful breakfast. Reminiscent of eating at home.

Yelp
The Hole in the Wall is part of the 600 Cafe. They serve dinner, this restaurant came highly recommended by an antique shop owner but it was anything but good. The pork was recommended as well by the antique shop owner but mine came to me raw, it was disgusting, the waitress returned it to the kitchen and redelivered it but I saw all of the grease and became nauseated. The cook dropped it into the fryer to finish cooking it! The worse was being told the don't accept credit cards, only cash or check! I thought they were kidding but then the waitress showed me an ATM! So they expected me to pay a $6 fee, then my bank will charge me a $6 fee, total expenses of $12 to me! I left my husband there while I went to the grocery store to use my debit card and get cash back, no fees to me. When I returned I searched for the sign on the door that says "cash or check only" but I never saw or found it. Three strikes and you're out at this ball game!

Don F.

Yelp
An old diner in the middle of town. Old, dated, fairly dirty, and the food was just so-so. Wish I had ate breakfast at McDonalds - at least the eggs wouldn't have been burned. The bacon was real tasty though, and the service was decent, which it should have been since there were only about 3 people in the place.
google avatar

Tyler M.

Yelp
Best breakfast in town. Locally owned and operated since 1946, the 600 cafe is more of a central meeting place - call it the town square if you like. If you haven't been here - I suggest trying the chicken fried steak w/ white gravy and hash browns. You can't go wrong...
google avatar

Leigh B.

Yelp
Excellent place for breakfast. My husband and I had eggs, sausage and toast and also ordered some biscuits and gravy to share. Other than the fact that we had way too much food in front of us, everything was fabulous. The service was perfect and the food excellent! Highly recommend the biscuits and gravy which is made fresh every morning!
google avatar

Yelp
Nice homestyle breakfast! Sticky buns were amazing. Cute old cafe. I've been here twice and enjoyed it both times.
google avatar

Yelp
Really good breakfast. I had Denver hash browns. Yummy!!!! Looks like most of the restaraunts here are chain places. This beats any of those. Good coffee too! Only breakfast here, I think. They close up at 2 pm.

Bob F.

Yelp
GREAT food and service. Excellent place for breakfast or lunch. I had a cheeseburger and fries, cooked to perfection with local beef, fresh cut fries. Server brought the check, it read $5 and I tried to point out the error. Yup, you guessed it, a real cheeseburger and fries available below fast food joint prices. Check it out.

Yelp
I am a Canadian and a member of the Veteran Paratroopers Motorcycle Club. During May/June of 2014 myself and 2 other members were traveling to Quebec City for a reunion. We stayed overnight in Billings and decided to get an early start at 06:00 and stop for breakfast along the way. About 08:00 we pulled into Miles City to fill up and we asked where we could get a good breakfast and the 600 Cafe about 3 blocks from the gas station was recommended. We rode down and parked on the Main Street and went into the cafe. If you can imagine three bikers who have already been on the road for a week and walking into a small town cafe it was something out of a movie. As soon as we walked in, the cafe was filled with people and the whole place went silent. As we made our way to a booth one of the people sitting at the counter saw our colours and asked if we were really paratroopers. We said yes we had served as Canadian paratroopers and this person then said he had served in the 82nd Airborne and had trained with us in Petawawa, Ontario. At that point people tarted to talk again in the cafe. The waitress recommended side-pork with eggs and the three of us accepted the recommendation. It was the best breakfast the three of us could remember having. As people left they came to out table and thanked us for our service. The lasting impression we had was of the people that worked there and the customers. The food was great, the coffee was good and plentiful and I would stop there again the next time I am in Miles City.

Alyssa T.

Yelp
Delicious! Unbelievable Denver hashbrowns! Great service: friendly, quick and reasonably priced. Would definitely come back! Thanks for the great experience! Yum!
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
I've eaten at the 600 several times, and in recent years the quality and the service both have greatly declined. Menu items often aren't available, the waitstaff doesn't have answers about most of their food, and I've even ordered things that had an incorrect description on the menu. If you pay with a credit or debit card, you're subject to an additional fee, as well. The service has been fairly poor the last 4 times I've visited, and if it wasn't for the amazing tomato-mac soup, I wouldn't be returning.

Yelp
I pass through Miles City about 4 times a year and always look forward to having breakfast there prior to my departure from town. A lot of "local color" is always present in the early morning which adds to a nice breakfast in this small town in Eastern Montana. I've always enjoyed their breakfasts and service was always just fine.

R B.

Yelp
Great little cafe. Had the breakfast special, steak, eggs hash browns, great marble rye toast. I only ate half the steak, as it was the size of this state!! Very pleased we found this cafe downtown. BYW it's "600 Cafe" Look for Hole in the wall Cafe, it's adjacent.

Jean F.

Yelp
I travel ever week for work and ended up in Mile City last night. The hotel recommended the 600 fur breakfast- it was awesome! Had the Denver Hashbrowns- very very good! Some if the best breakfast I've had!
