Yelp
Very intimate dining area with a small but incredible menu. Wish there were more vegetarian options but the Broccoli Tostata was to die for. Service was good and food came out very quickly. Really cool open kitchen set up and the decor and vibe felt elevated. Parking in the plaza is paid but there is also plenty of street parking in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Nashville is making its mark as a center of elevated Mexican food, and Alebrije adds a heartfelt and amazing twist to the mix. Chef Edgar and his sous chef Ryan were welcoming, friendly and engaging. We sat at the counter on the edge of the kitchen and chatted with Ryan while we ate. Part of the fun of the experience was learning how Edgar prepares the mole' using family recipes from his upbringing in Mexico City. Everything is made in house, starting with corn from Mexico, ground in house. The mole sauce, simmered for days with over 40 ingredients- layers of delicious flavor. Ambiance feels very authentic to the casual but elevated experience where the food is the important thing The building hides Alebrije and to be honest you might not believe there's a restaurant on the second floor. It brings new meaning to the term "hidden gem." We Parker across the street at the Aldi.

Yelp
Unique delicious experience! Parking: parking in the plaza can get a little challenging depending what time you go. There is plenty of street parking as well. Vibe: it's a very intimate, low lighting place with a limited but delicious menu. This is a super cute place for a date or meals with a group. Food: Absolutely loved the shrimp empanadas, whatever seasoning they had on the shrimp was fresh and full of flavor. The enchiladas had probably the best mole sauce I have ever had. EVER As a huge chilaquiles fan I was very surprised to see scrambled eggs instead of fried eggs on the dish, although very different from what I'm used to it was so crisp and well seasoned. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Unexpectedly delicious! My group shut this place down on a Sunday after finishing our St Paddy's day romp next door at the Coral Club. We rolled in pretty late about an hour before they closed. It was not busy so there was no wait. Our server was on & passed the vibe check. She was great & took care of my fully imbibed group with no trouble keeping waters full while the staff prepared to end the day. She even brought the rest of the horchata to the table for us to finish off after two people ordered a glass. They were out of chicken so for the mole enchiladas I subbed carnitas. I love mole & when it's on a menu I will usually order it. I highly recommend it here at Alebrije. It's perfectly balanced not overly sweet & a little smoky. I would have licked the plate clean but thankfully I retained some table manners despite my inebriated status. Finished up with a slice of tres leches. Their version was light & tasty. Not too saturated with the milks that you couldn't easily finish it yourself. Honestly, a perfect pairing to the heavier enchiladas with the mole forward base. Not sure when I'd be back around here for dinner but if I find myself in the area id definitely consider coming back. Food, service, environment all recommended.

Yelp
The food at Alebrije was fantastic! Got the mole enchiladas which were so flavorful and has a delicious sauce as well as the carne asada tacos that I thoroughly enjoyed! We really wanted to try the shrimp empanadas but apparently they sell out early in the day. They were very busy, so service as slow but highly recommend it if you can make it! Also a fun tip - if you're over at Coral Club next door, you can order takeout and still get to eat great tacos and enjoy your cocktails at coral club!

Yelp
Great new spot in east nashville! The food is great and the service was friendly. I first got to taste their food as a pop up at Bastion and have been a fan ever since. I'm glad they've gotten their brick and mortar and are here to stay! The brisket tacos were my favorite and were full of brisket (no skimping here!). The other stuff was all really great too. Great place to eat before heating over to Coral Club too. Definitely a combo I'd recommend.

Yelp
Incredible food carried over from the amazing food truck version. So happy that they have a brick and mortar and continue to have such high quality, delicious food. That mole is unbeatable!

Yelp
Excellent food and service. We had the mole enchiladas and spareribs, and practically licked the bowls out. We will be back to try the tacos. We appreciated that the portions are not huge - we finished the 2 entrees and were full, but not stuffed. Note that the menu is limited - if you're a finicky eater, it might not be your thing.

Yelp
Nicer than expected ambiance and amazing mole. The chicken tacos were also great- al pastor could have been a little better but overall 9/10.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Best Mexican food in nashville! Try everything on the menu. Most people get the tacos without realizing how good the other dishes are.

Yelp
Yummy spot. Staff was very friendly. I loved the pastor huarache, snapper tacos were a little disappointing for me. I think I'd rather it not fried. Server said they will be getting their beer and wine license soon. It is little difficult to get to and the restaurant was kind of dirty, like it needed a deep clean. We sat at the bar and there's looked to be food from the night before still on the ground. We were there soon as it opened. We will go back still. Very yummy.

Yelp
Tacos are my favorite food, and Alebrije serves up the best tacos I have ever had. I have been on a lifelong taco tour through Texas, California, Mexico, Central America, and even Europe. This is world class food for the same price as a Chipotle bowl. I hope that Alebrije wins an inaugural Michelin Star in Tennessee - it would be well deserved. The service is outstanding, and the ambiance is warm and welcoming. Each bite is a masterpiece. There is a giant free parking garage across the street at 700 Gallatin Ave. Grab a drink at Coral Club right next door before or after. I love you, Alebrije.

Yelp
After living for 30 years in Nashville, I can finally say that an authentic street food spot that gets it right has arrived! The huarache, the mole, los tacos de carnitas- all perfect! Come over! You'll have to endure slower service than you'd like but it's worth the wait.

Yelp
Most authentic tacos in Nashville hands down. Support this place, they deserve it. Service and vibes are the best!! American dream!

Yelp
If you've spent any time looking for Mexican food you know there are basically two options: Tex-Mex or Tex-Mex. It is incredibly difficult to find good, authentic Mexican food. Enter Alebrije. I first experienced Alebrije when they were a taco truck at Honeytree Meadery. Now they've got a great little brick and mortar right off Gallatin in East. The food is outstanding. We ordered shrimp empanadas, carnitas, and the pastor huarache. First off, the plating was gorgeous. Everything just looked good. The flavor matched the first impressions too. I particularly liked the empanadas. Too often the dough can be dense and chewy. These had a beautifully crisped dough filled to the brim with shrimp and cheese. Just excellent. The carnitas and pastor were cooked and seasoned perfectly. They both had a crazy amount of flavor packed into them. Happy that Alebrije has a permanent home and hope they keep knocking it out the park.

Yelp
Incredible. A little piece of Mexico City in Nashville. Doesn't look like much from the strip mall outside, but the food will blow you away. I'm lucky enough to visit Mexico City a few times a year and Alebrije has the kind of complex flavors you can only find there. Ryan, our awesome server, told us the owner had been a chef in CDMX for 20 years....and you can taste it! Mushroom tacos, mole enchiladas, and the asparagus tostada especially were all exceptional. Love that the menu is focused and not just a build-your-own-blah-combo you see around so much. Only downside for us was no alcohol, but we barely missed it, and luckily Coral Club is right next door for a cocktail after. Hello, I rarely write reviews, but we are your newest regulars!!

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Unbelievable!! Best tacos and Mexican food of my life. I will be back regularly. I'm so glad it's in the neighborhood.

Lenin F.

Yelp
Both dishes I got were really salty and any flavors were overpowered. A little disappointed for the price but I know it's new spot and has to work out kinks so don't want to affect its rating. Give it a try!

Bandi A.

Yelp
Can't complain about the service. Waiter very friendly and efficient. The food was bland at best. 3 tacos with a sprig of cilantro and 1/2 inch of pickled onion. And don't come needing a marg, they don't serve alcohol.

Aaron W.

Yelp
The brisket tacos were the best tacos i've ever had :) Highly Recommend to anyone considering trying Alebrije

Yelp
Exactly what I want a food truck parked in the back yard of a bar to be! I got the asada tlayuda and it was delicious! Great offerings for anyone who missed dinner or is still out drinking at fourth meal.

Colin W.

Yelp
What can I say about Alebrije; the service was quick and timely, and the tacos were absolutely incredible and probably the best tacos I've eaten in Nashville ever. The chefs are excellent about allowing substitutions and requests as able. Highly recommend any Mexican food lovers to check this place out - 5 out of 5 stars!

Bill J.

Yelp
The food was hit or miss depending on what we ordered but the service was bad and unnecessarily rude. There was pretty much no one there so I'm not sure why. Oh well. Won't be back.

James J.

Yelp
The best tacos in Nashville without a doubt. The service is so nice, and the vibe here is good too. But I cannot overstate how good the tacos are. I've never had better tacos in nashville, and maybe not anywhere else in the US.

Yelp
Great late night taco truck. Service was amazing and quick. Come get some delicious tacos between drinks.

Yelp
Crash and burn amigos. There is a reason there are no longer people in line. Unfortunately, the counter is frequently unattended leaving you to wait and sometimes get nothing. There is very little enthusiasm or hospitality being displayed. Maiz De La Vida is everything this concept ever wanted to be. I used to love it here. I hope they improve, or move.

Yelp
So so good!! I tried the pastor and it was phenomenal! Service was great, he was so friendly and recommended the yummy taco I got. I went on a Thursday, so in the back of Honeytree (also phenomenal vibes, mead, and service) there was a band playing some jazz music. Will definitely be back on my next trip here!

Margaux A.

Yelp
The vibe is nice, there's a cute dog, and the drinks are good... But what really stole the show was THE most incredible tacos I've ever had, and CHURROS!!!
google avatar

Amy H.

Yelp
This one manned-spot is such a gem - delicious tortillas and great flavors. We tried everything on the menu, and even got seconds because it was so good. The custard-filled churros were an especially satisfying treat! So happy to stumble on this place while at Honeytree Meadery.

Yelp
Small overpriced tacos and lacking spice and flavor (pastor anyway) go to the one on Dickerson pike at the z mart.

Yelp
Wanted to buy a Gift Card online but wasn't an option. Called and spoke to Edgar who graciously set it up online via Squared so I could. I stupidly typed in an incorrect email (that doesn't exist) to send the $100 GC to and there is no way to resend/fix it. I called Edgar back and he told me he had no access, to dispute with my Credit Card. He won't respond to the inquiries done by Master Card, and so 2 months later, still no GC and no refund. Bummer.
