I have been here for two events, one in the summer and one in the winter. Both times, the venue was decorated beautifully. Of course, it's more the vendors than the venue itself, but the venue offers the space for creativity to thrive. When you first walk in, there's space for a bar, and something else to serve as the first thing that guests will see. At the winter event, the coat check was right next to the bar, which was smart.
Out on the terrace, which can still be used in the winter thanks to a heated tent, you can either go out onto the rest of the roof and enjoy the freezing cold (and the view, of course), or you can check it out through the clear panes of the tent that keeps you nice and toasty. The way the vendors choose to make use of the space has been great both at both events--there is ample room to set up different stations, and the vendors seem to have pretty much free reign on how they want to set everything up. The one thing is, I don't know if this would be the best for very large parties--there is a small hallway connecting to a much bigger room than the first, and no doors to slow anyone down, but it seems like it would be better for more intimate gatherings.
The venue, which is situated in an ideal location, right smack dab in the middle of Rockefeller Center, has prime real estate. While the surrounding area is certainly more beautiful around winter, when the tree makes its appearance, I would think that this venue's greatest gift is its rooftop garden. I think the summer weather, coupled with the longer hours of daylight, really bring out this place's beauty.
