626 Hawaiian BBQ & Boba

This place has become my jam for Hawaiian food. And it's awesome that it's a short 10 minute drive from home. Favorites so far include their house special mix plate and the mahi musubi. The house special mix plate comes with BBQ beef, chicken, and katsu with rice and mac salad. The meats are lean and the katsu is not heavy on the breading. Try the mahi musubi for an elevated taste, as you still get the goodness of the rice and seaweed but with a slightly crisp filet of mahi! If you're pressed for time, call ahead to place your order for pickup. If you also plan to order fried items like the katsu or fried mahi, don't order the hour before they close as they might have cleaned out the fryer already. There's a few parking spots but since this place is really a grab and go, it's not an issue finding parking.

I have a gluten allergy & they misheard my order, but the fixed it with a smile! They also clean the “ordering area” after each patron & tried to give me a refund for the amount of the dish I ordered! Their fried fish and shrimp plate looked amazing, but I just couldn’t eat it. It was kinda sad. This place was great & made fresh to order!!

This place is set up like an old school Wienerschnitzel. There is no indoor. You walk up and order at the window. The place is pretty run down. The menu and all the signs are faded from exposure to sunlight. None of the prices on the drink menu are even legible anymore. There are some outdoor seating. One of the table is missing it's top. As for the food, I ordered a Loco Moco. The gravy was too thick and too dark.. Also, ordered a smoothie, but it was more like a slushie (no dairy product), and it wasn't blend very well.

Great little gem in a former Weinersnitchel building. The food is much more affordable than Hawaii Ono (2x Musubi Spam $3.50 vs $6 something), and Loco Moco is decent for its price. They do serve a lot of rice so be careful if you are watching your carb and sugar level

I ordered the House special mixed plate as it came with macaroni salad, white rice, bbq chicken on top, bbq beef on the bottom, and Katsu chicken too. Two cups of sauces: teriyaki sauce and katsu sauce. Delicious meal. Four tables outside in the front and parking in the back.

There is limited parking that can be found at the back of this lot. There are some tables at the front where you can sit and eat at. I ordered a Honey Green Milk Tea with boba which wasn't too bad. The honey and tea taste were surprisingly strong in my drink and the boba was sweet and chewy, this was definitely worth the price. I also ordered a Mini BBQ Chicken plate that was around $7, There was about 2 and a half pieces of chicken in my plate. The pieces were fairly thin and one small piece was mainly just fried chicken skin. The chicken was pretty flavorful, tender, and not burned or overly dry. This plate also comes with one scoop of rice and macaroni salad. Overall, for the price and the taste it was just alright. Would come back to lunch if I was reallly craving some Hawaiian BBQ.

There was only a little food, no vegetables, and the macaroni was spoiled.

I was very pleased with my meal. Also ordered a tea and it was delicious.

Looks to be run by a small family. Accommodated my order of 25 spam musubis for a company potluck. Food was ready for pick up in 2 hours. Called other places around the area and they all requested a 24 hour notice for party trays. Would recommend! Always happy to support small businesses, especially when they go to lengths to accommodate requests on such short notice.

I stopped by 626 Hawaiian BBQ and Boba to try their Hawaiian BBQ after I got recommendations from a friend of mine. It is a hole in the wall and it is mainly grab-and-go place. The lady who prepared my order was very nice. I got the following: - Seafood combo with BBQ chicken 5/5 Fried Mahi Mahi, fried shrimp, BBQ chicken served with macaroni salad. The chicken was very juicy and flavorful. I enjoyed the fried mahi mahi. It was crispy, flaky and flavorful. Fried shrimp was savory with crispy crust. - Seafood combo with BBQ Beef 5/5 The BBQ beef was tender, flavorful, and juicy. Their combo is served with macaroni, rice or green salad The quantity was huge - Macaroni salad 5/5 Was creamy, rich and savory - chicken Musubi 5/5 - Spam Musubi 5/5 Their musubi was absolutely delicious. I had delicious lunch with nice potions and reasonable values. I will definitely come back.

Solid lunch place with good value and good portions. I was in the neighborhood for a quick bite and the service was great.

Nice hawaiian comfort food if you don't want to go to chain like ono. They have all the classics and more. If you're a regular, you'll probably get the combo plates like special mix plate or loco moco. They come with decent amount of meat portion. You don't see a lot of saimin in the area so I am glad they have this option. It's a light option for anyone who isn't craving meaty or saucy stuff. They operate in an old wienerschnitzel building, so they give out the food thru a window. They have a couple of tables and chairs, but I think most people call in their order, pick up, and eat at home.

Whomp whomp I paid $11 for this lol like what !!! I could have went up the street to the burger joint and gotten a better salad for $11!! Like this is not a bbq chicken salad!!! Or even a salad at that. And why is my lettuce swimming in water ? Lol seriously horrible along with the service horrible because why is she tossing the food at me when I went to get my order. 0/10

Best musubi's in town! I believe the shop is owned by a couple who are really sweet and attentive. The lady is always smiling and friendly when I come to the window, which makes me wanna return!

I hope this place never goes away! I've been back countless of times, and they have the best comfort food when I'm craving something fulfilling and satisfying. My usual order is their bbq beef plate. It comes with their amaaaaazing mac salad & rice. I always get extra teriyaki sauce & mac salad on the side because it's just simply delicious to me. Yum! Their large bbq beef plate can last me two meals depending on how hungry I am. I definitely recommend this place! They have many items and special/refreshing drinks on the menu to choose from. The chicken katsu with the curry sauce is also amazing. There's no indoor seating and parking is small, but you can get in and out in a timely manner.

626 Hawaiian is a hidden gem in Baldwin Park. Small shack looking joint which looks like it was a Wienerschnitzel before. Take out window. Order online for pick up if you do not want to wait. Half and Half Combo - $13.99 - Katsu, BBQ Beef, & BBQ Chicken were all tasty and well cooked. Good rice and mac portion. Comes with cabbage under the meat. Huge portion, worth the money!!! Spam Musubi - $4.25 - Basic. They were not proportional in size. If you are craving a lunch plate and do not want the chain Ono, 626 Hawaiian is a great alternative.

My daughter's favorite go to spot for Hawaiian bbq when performing at the theatre down the street. The spam musubi is excellent and good priced. The place itself is kind of easy to miss it's just a small sort of hut, but if u get a chance stop in and you will not be disappointed!

If you are in search of the best and most well-priced spam masubi ever, I found it for you! The spam masubis are delicious, big, and just right! My boyfriend brought me here to try some Hawaiian food and because I was craving spam masubi. We also got some Hawaiian classics like the Kalua Pork dish and Loco Moco. It was my first time trying it and I have to say - it is awesome! The Kalua Pork was flavorful and it went perfect with the rice. Not the mention - the macaroni salad was the best macaroni salad I have ever had (not exaggerating). I usually don't like macaroni salad but this one was the best. It was well cooked, creamy, and delicious. I never had Loco Moco before until I had it here. The sauce is similar to gravy. It is rice with an egg on top with sauce. I was delightfully surprised to how simple, yet amazing this is. We will definitely be back!

My daughter was craving Kahlua Pork so we looked up Hawaiian food near us. When we got to this place it looked a bit questionable. It is a bit run down and dingy looking but we decided to give it a try and Wow! Best Kahlua Pork we ever had. I would like to go back and try more dishes.

This is such a hole in the wall, lowkey spot in Baldwin Park but you must visit! The food here is better than L&L (IMO) and portions are more generous. The combo platter here is enough for 2 for a meal. Must try and visit!

I literally never leave reviews... I often think people blow some stuff out of proportion when complaining about an experience at an establishment. However, in a world where people work hard, struggle, and everyone deserves common decency- this place should not be given support. They want your money and aren't willing to consider respecting or accommodating you as a customer/visitor. I live in BP and I try to support local businesses bc it's a neighbor thing. They don't act like neighbors. Rude. Mean. Passive aggressive. Grown women, too. If they were teenagers or even young adults I wouldn't be leaving a review. They should be embarrassed

This place is delicious! I got the chicken combo and OMG! it was SO GOOD! if you haven't been and you're thinking about checking it out, don't think about it and just go! Your stomach won't regret it!

Been coming here for years! Love the hawaiian food! Chicken katsu and the BBQ short ribs are my go to but this time I just got Katsu and Sheimp Saimin! Workers are friendly and the food quality never misses! Its a small shack setup so you camt miss! Their boba is chewy and you can tell it's not those bobas that have been sitting there for a day! Its an 8 min drive kinda out of the way but i'll make the drive! Been coming here since 2015 and I always recommend people to try this place out!

A decent Hawaiian place with great flavors and awesome choices. There is some Chinese inspiration in the flavors as well which might be good for some and not for others. Definitely a personal preference for me in terms of flavor. Quality is where they lose some points, because consistency isn't always there. The service is quick, but don't expect 5* sushi service. This is comfort food, so make sure you have proper expectations. Ambiance isn't what you come here for. If you want fast food that's great tasting and priced well, then this is the place for you!

Came here a couple times while craving musubi and saw that the pictures of the food looked pretty decent. Not gonna lie, but these musubi are huge and filling for its price. Plus there's a variety of them. I've always liked spam musubi, but after trying out mahi mahi musubi, I got a new favorite! The last time I tried this place they had a check in offer for a free regular boba milk tea. Wow! A regular boba milk tea tasted so fresh and delicious. They also have some pretty interesting drinks too like their Diablito (chamango style drink). Their plate combos were good, but still wished there was more food I would say. It's not like they pack the plate, but just evenly portioned to fit the styrofoam box. Parking is plentiful since there's not a lot of people that come and dine outside ( it's in front of a busy street). Definitely recommend the mahi mahi musubi when you stop by. It's the perfect appetizer and filling snack.

Ordered a half and half combo to try this place. Waited 35 minutes for my food. Watched everyone around me get their food. Finally get asked what I ordered after I had waited for 35 minutes. Turns out they gave my order to someone else ten minutes prior. Didn't check receipts just took their word for it. Plus it's so hard to hear what the lady is calling out orders wise so I couldn't even tell she had called out for my order. And no apologies just a bunch of excuses. They then tried to blame the customer who had mistakenly taken my order before which I thought was totally unacceptable and then at the end once I finally got my order they apologized and gave me a can of soda which was the least they can do and the food ended up being incredibly mediocre.

Love this place. Hole in the wall restaurant next to my workplace that serves a simple and good Hawaiian BBQ. Lots of menu options at good prices, and the portions are big as well. The couple that runs this place is also really really nice. I usually get their Atkins plate to maintain my no carb diet. It comes with two eggs, lettuce, and their beef, chicken, and Kalua pork. I recommend calling your order in as they can be a little slow when you order at the window. I've also tried their macaroni salad and spam musubi. The macaroni salad is just plain and good, no excess mayonnaise or an absence of flavor. I usually take it to go, but they also have minimal outdoor seating. Parking lot is small, but it seems like most people just come grab their food and go.

This is one of the hole in the wall places in Baldwin Park for bang for buck food. This place doesn't really scream "wow" from the outside of the building because it looks run down. The parking lot is nice and paved but there isn't much parking spots either. The menu is all of your typical Hawaiian like food. Service is a little bit slow, there seems to only be two people working. This place is good for sustenance and not that great for quality. For example, I got a spamasubi but the spam to rice ratio wasn't that good. It tasted fine and everything and for the price it wasn't bad either. This place requires a 10 dollar minimum for credit card which isn't too hard to reach if you order a normal plate of food. I haven't been able to try that yet but I probably would come by if I am hungry and not willing to spend too much. Overall a solid 3/5 and I would recommend this place to try.

Decided to stop by on a whim and was glad I did. I ordered the loco moco and the katsu plate both large. Both plate were pretty good. I like actually really liked the gravy with the loco moco. Everything was good and the portions were big.

Two words to sum it all up; fast and cheap! Ordered a chicken Katsu regular plate and a half and half kalua pork with bbq chicken. The price is really affordable but the quality of the meat is definitely not too notch. My kalua pork was well flavored but pretty dry and the chicken was over cooked and rubbery. You can tell when chicken has been defrosted and cooked from the texture of the meat. That's what I felt about the meat quality here. I thought the macaroni salad was probably the best part of my meal. Don't think I'll be coming here regularly, sadly.

Pretty good Hawaiian food, the only Hawaiian food I ever had was from Ono Hawaiian BBQ and I wanted to support different establishments since Covid. Their portions are really big! I got the loco moco plate and it literally feeds 2 ( but they also have a mini plate for that and I believe I should've gotten that since I was eating for 1) and their spam musubi is big as well but the sweet and savory were really well balanced out and they give extra sauce on the side! I also got their passionfruit tea and I honestly think it's good, the tea taste is really distinct whereas the passionfruit is subtle but not sweet at all so depends on your tea preference, I did not get boba though. Shout out to my post-mate driver Daniel F, doubt you will ever see this but you a real one, #NiceAf. But I say give this place a try because I enjoyed it .

It was good but small portions. I'd rather go to Hawaiian bbq the chain extra cost on sauce when ordering the 3 meat dish. It's actually enough for one person.

Good food, okay service, overall pretty much a mediocre Hawaiian BBQ spot. I came here after craving Hawaiian food and I didn't expect it to have its own parking lot tied to a gas station. Kind of reminds me of smaller food stands you'd find in Hawaii. Food: I got the house special plate which had bbq chicken, bbq beef, chicken katsu, Mac salad, and rice. Everything tasted super average and the best part about the dish was probably the meat - it was super tender and soft! Nice flavor. Service: Older lady took my order and wasn't really customer service. She had a little bit of an attitude and just wanted my money. Overall, I didn't like this restaurant that much, definitely incredibly average. They had a minimum credit card transaction fee (which is lowkey illegal) so I ended up buying spam musubi too, which was also average tasting.

If you never have chicken cutlets before, you need to try this place. Always fresh and crispy. Price is reasonable. House special with macaroni salad is the best.

I ordered the loco moco and was not impressed. The dry beef was obviously from frozen. The gravy was certainly from a packet. Saving grace was the well made sunny side up eggs, but I was overall not happy with this dish. The staff seem polite and I appreciate them taking my order through the phone, but I am not likely to ever place another one again.

Tried this place today and wasn't really impressed. Tried the bbq chicken bowl with rice and veggies. It was mainly cabbage. Hardly any carrots in my bowl. Chicken was dry and over cooked. The chicken was salty. Kind of hard to eat. Steamed rice is steamed rice.... Can't go wrong with that. I don't think I will come back here. There are way to many other restaurants that have better tasting Hawaiin bbq.

I used to think this place was the best. While it is good, it really shines because of the pricing. The quality of meat was good but not best. I would say you have to get the curry sauce and try the katsu musubi.

Absolutely love this place. I have always gone to ONO but after trying this bbq place, I'm staying here. They give GREAT amount of portions, so if you workout and want your protein in, here's the place. The boba is also a plus! My favorite have been the shakes but my go to is the Thai Tea.

I ordered 2 seafood plates, 1shrimp plate and an order of fries (well done) Everything! Was delicious. Will definitely come back to try other plates. Customer service was fair.

Woah we all know what this establishment used to be based on the exterior (Weinersnitchel). The bulk of their business are phone orders. There are a few tables outside. On the day we went, it had previously rained, so the tables and chairs were wet. The staff is pretty much a two man show; one person taking orders and the other cooking the food. The service was ok, not the friendliest, but definitely not rude. They have a list of smoothies and boba drinks that can also be ordered. We got a free boba milk tea with Yelp check-in. It was overly sweet. Hubby got the BBQ combo plate, which was a huge portion meant for two people. The fried chicken was overly fried. The other meats were fine. I got the kalua pork mini bowl, which was under seasoned. A little sauce fixed that. They accept credit card with a $5 minimum purchase, otherwise there's a $.25 fee. If you happen to be in the area or work nearby, try to order ahead to save time.

It's surprisingly good for the fact that it's just a hole in the wall, and the price/portion ratio is excellent, especially with today's inflation. And for the price the food is genuinely good.

I only tried their spam musubi and Mahi Mahi musubi. Prices are very affordable. Food was just ok. There was a lot of rice and not enough protein. Would also be better with a side of teriyaki and/or chili sauce since there wasn't much sauce inside the musubis. The store is hard to spot since their sign isn't prominent. Lady at window was very nice though. Wish I could give them more stars.

The portions were abundant and the food was decent. I ordered the combo plate with Mac salad and the garlic shrimp plate. Overall I enjoyed supporting this small business. The garlic shrimp was a little on the salty side and needed something acidic to balance out the salt taste.

This place just to be good, I even had gotten catering from here before, I stopped today and other 3 reg meals and the macaroni was watery the chicken had to much skin.. something has definitely change in this place seeing the reviews I see other people think the same. Worst thing u can do to Hawaiian food is mess up the macaroni.. sorry guys, food is not the same as before. I miss the old food so I must say no more driving 7 miles to get bland f

Cheap food and totally worth stopping by. I highly recommend the spam musubi. It is HUGE. We ordered 4 thinking they would be regular sized but they were super big and we could have gotten away with eating 2 split between the two of us. We also got the combo plate and it was yummy. Downside, there isn't seating except for a few outdoor benches so I assume this place is for mostly to-go orders. Also, the bathroom is gross. If you are looking for great to-go food, come here! I recommend!
