68 & Shanghai - Review - London - The Infatuation

"Part wine bar and part cocktail lounge, 68 & Shanghai is all about worldly wines and charcuterie boards. Plus there are Japanese-style sandos on the menu at this Spitalfields spot. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

I had such a lovely time here. I had to give a review. 68 & Shanghai is in between algate east and Shoreditch high street so it's easily accessible. This wine bar is fun and energetic, it's a small cute place that holds around 30 people I would say. The wine list is good, I'm no connoisseur but there was a range of red, white and orange wine here. The staff were extremely warm and friendly, they explained the wine list, even engaged in light conversation with me. If you're in the area and you're looking for something fun and lovely. Come to this place, you'll love it 😊

Nice intimate place for drinks. It was relatively quiet on a Thursday evening, but it meant that it was easy to converse inside :) Look at that menu! Extra point for uniqueness. The cocktails were strong and well made - I can’t remember which one was on the left, but it was sweeter and than the drink on the right. Service was friendly, water kept getting topped up which was nice. I thought there was happy hour but it seems you might need to book ahead for this..?

We had the wine flight experience through Fever. We had an amazing server, Ed, who talked us through each wine: explaining the origins, growth and production of each of the wines. They were paired nicely with meat and cheeses that complemented the wine that was chosen. We highly recommend to those who might not know a lot about wine, or those who want to know more!

Romantic and elegant ambiance, especially upstairs where it’s truly private. Speaking of the upstairs area, there are USB cables available and unique, very cute paintings by small artists (which I can’t take photos of). The staff is kind and welcoming. The menu offers many cocktails with extraordinary mixes, and there are 2 non-alcoholic options. Most of the snacks are vegetarian, although I wouldn’t recommend it for those following a vegetarian diet, as there aren’t suitable cocktail pairings (though you can ask the staff). Short wait for tables and a bit longer for cocktails. From left to right: Hengzhou City, Green Dragon Gimlet, Hengzhou City, and a special. The Hengzhou was sweet, perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth. Great place, maybe I’ll come back!

Very good place for a quality real drink, the level of detail on each drink it’s amazing. The staff is fantactic. We did a cocktail lesson with Ed and it was more than we could ever expect. Lots of fun. We will definitely come back and we recommend it for a special date or friends activity.

Very good hospitality by all members of staff. Friends had an engagement party in their private rooms downstairs. Was spacious for the right amount of people with options to play your music. There should be more variety of spirits downstairs but the staff attended to that swiftly. Would recommend for private social events and gatherings!

I loved the place. we went on a "first table" booking. We had booked for 6:30. It was pretty quiet when we got there. It was getting pretty busy by the time we left. The service is great. Really knowledgeable about the wine. The wine we had a Castillo De Eneriz was amazing. We had a bottle The wine flight tasters sounded really interesting. The food was not at all bad. I had possibly the best tomato sauce ever, and yes, it's meant as a compliment. A little more choice over food would be nice. it's was very sandwich orientated. The croque Monsieur was amazing, although I think they served the croque madam. The crispy chicken was really good too. We were visiting the area, I'd recommended ot to anyone staying local. We were about 20mins walk away Worth it. Ide be more interested in trying the wines if I went again and less bothered by the food in all honesty.

I don’t know where these beautiful photos come from in the reviews. On a Saturday night the atmosphere was chaotic despite half full. The waitress on arrival had no clue what to do and said “just sit where you can find a table “. I mean I did book didn’t I?? So rude. Once at the table ( that wobbled at every micro move) we kept asked what else do we want to order. So stressful. Also, not sure i got the Shanghai vibe. For me it’s a no to this place ❌
