To die for FABULOUS. 👌Best bagel I've had on West Coast. Friendly & helpful staff. They open at 7 and close at 2 or when they run out of 🥯. Always fresh daily!!! P.S. a true authentic New York bagel can be "chewy" . Have them toast it for more crunch and less chewy.

Absolutely the best bagels you can find in Olympia. Even by the standards of larger cities these are really good. I've never been to New York so I can't say how they compare there, but if you want a bagel in Olympia this is the place to go. They are more expensive than a pack of grocery store bagels, but the quality is worth the price in my opinion. I could eat the everything bagels for breakfast every day for the rest of my life.

If youre going to advertise that you do New York style bagels and name yourself the "6th borough", then you should actually learn to make new york style bagels. I make a better bagel at home with costco bagels. Cold, chewy, stale and flat. Not impressed. Won't be back.

Service was great, helped me choose a spread that was dairy free but gave me 6 bagels that were very tough to chew. Not sure if this is how they are suppose to come out but they were pretty busy so I would hope they had fresh bagels. Hard to recommend them for the price.

I first discovered 6th Borough Bagels at the Olympia co-op. It’s really hard to find good New York style bagels, but they know how to do it! Chewy inside, crispy outside. Our town so needed a locally owned bagel shop complete with smears and sandwiches. They also have coffee. Run don’t walk and get here early to make sure you don’t come up empty-handed. When they’re gone they’re gone. Staff is super friendly and these bagels are the bomb.!

I was raised outside Philly and sent a lot of time in NYC. Family in Jersey City. The staff was friendly and quick making the sandwiches. The Oly d School was a great sandwich. Fresh items and full of flavor. The bagels are not close to a NYC bagel. They were too hard and not soft and chewy. But great sandwiches.

The air smelled like morning and bread. Not the soft kind. Not the kind that forgets itself. This was bagel bread -- tough, proud, shaped by hand and boiled before the bake. The kind that knew where it came from. You could taste the East Coast in it. Even this far west, it still held. They didn't talk much behind the counter. They worked. Fast hands, quiet focus. The folks behind the scenes moved dough the way old fishermen mend nets -- not hurried, but certain. There's no shortcut to it. Just flour, water, salt, yeast. That's it. The same simple things anyone has. But what came out of that storefront was not simple. It was something better. Something earned. The outside cracked when you bit it. Not brittle. Just enough crunch to wake you up. The inside pulled -- warm, dense, honest. It gave your teeth something to work on, like a proper fight. And the schmeers -- God. They didn't hold back. Scallion sharp and clean. Lox rich as memory. Toppings that hit you just late enough to notice. You don't need ten kinds. You need them done right. They were. Made me think of mornings in France -- not the showy patisseries, but the quiet ones. The ones where the baker's been up since dark, folding dough while the city still sleeps. Mastery looks the same on both sides of the ocean. It doesn't shout. It just shows up, fresh and hot, and dares you to find fault. Sixth Borough doesn't pretend to be something it's not. It's a bagel shop. A real one. The kind that remembers where it started. The kind that knows how to do a few things well, and does them every damn day. That's enough for me.

loved that you can actually see them cooking it up in the kitchen instead of just microwaving what is on display, but a bit overpriced for the meals. Paid $30 for both of these orders, but it is okay because it was the first time that I saw my friend in a long time, hehe ... as for the staff, they were very joyful and u can tell that they all have good chemistry when working with one another. place was pretty cute with the allusions to nyc with their wall posters, but it was so tight at the front cashier spot. had to even wait in line outside in the cold, but I guess that goes to show u how well-liked this brunch place seems to be by others.

Yes to almost everything. The bagels. The people. The fresh bagels being made pretty much in front of you. Yummmmmm. Wish parking was better and more cozy vibes, but that's honestly just nit picking because those bagels are 10/10!

Fantastic bagels and service! I go regularly and the staff are super friendly and have a nice rapport with their customers. While a little spendy, the sandwiches are a nice treat, and the bagels with cream cheese or just butter are really tasty!

Big name to live up to. The bagels aren't risen enough and over cooked and small making an extremely hard bite. The texture is way off like I want a side of SOFT bagel with my cream cheese, not hard shards of bagel cutting my throat. No egg bagels which is disappointing. The bagels are okay for the west coast, but they do not deserve this name and you need a strong jaw. Don't come here expecting a great bagel like I did. - A sad New Yorker

Not good. And I definitely would not consider it an extension of the 5 boroughs. I got there right when it opened and ordered an everything bagel with veggie cream cheese. VERY reasonable prices. Friendly staff. But, the bagel was SO tough, like chewing on shoe leather, and they barely spread the cream cheese on the bagel. If you're gonna call it a SCHMEAR, then you have to do more than smear a coating of cream cheese on the bagel. One thing that makes NY bagels iconic is the bagel:cream cheese ratio. The ratio is off here, big time. Also it doesn't taste like a NY bagel where they boil their bagels... the texture is more like a Canadian bagel, just baked straight from dough. I will say the flavors were great, the everything bagel was loaded with seasoning, and the veggie cream cheese was packed with veggies and flavor. But, the bagel itself was SUPER tough. Which is strange since I was their first customer, and I NEVER toast a good bagel. I don't understand how you get a fresh bagel that you can barely bite into. Disappointing, being a New Yorker... it's more of a Canadian style bagel.

Great selection of bagel flavors. Bagels are very east coast authentic--chewy outside with a good, tearable texture inside. Took a dozen to go but will be back soon for an eat-in selection from their menu.

Finally got a chance to stop in and try Sixth Borough Bagels! The staff were super friendly and helpful. Small spot with some counter space for enjoying my bagels there but I did take mine home. Very clean and quaint. Everything was delicious, my only comment on the bagels is a bit tough on the outside that gives a chewier texture than I'm used to but all the same deliciousness I crave. Location is in the middle of town so I got to discover an area that I have only driven through and not explored. We will definitely be back to this little gem!

This tiny shop in Olympia is one of the top ten bagel shops in the state. Bagels are well made, have good texture, and have good flavor. And they sell out. I was happy we phoned ahead for a dozen because they were telling people they were out of everything bagels by the time we got there. Would I drive to Olympia just for these? No (we were there for an event) because we have some great places around Seattle, too. But this shop is right there in the top ten mix. Olympia is luck to have this great place.

Mixed feelings. I lived in NYC for 7 years. The hype on this bagel shop is these are prepared like NY bagels and should taste like them. They are much better than bagels I've had elsewhere in the west (dinner rolls with holes in them). But still aren't up to NY standards. The rubbery dough (high gluten development) was missing and the exterior was more like a baguette - way too crispy. Last is price. $2 per bagel? These were plain out of the bin bagels- no stuff like cream cheese etc. I know the prices of so many things are high but I did not expect that.

Best bagels outside of New York State! I have missed real east coast bagels and these are delicious. The different spreads are yummy - my kids are addicted!

So looked forward to what I hoped would be great bagels. Stopped by, and just bought two to go. They put them in a brown paper. Got home, opened the bag, and found they were hard as rocks. Having just had some very expensive dental work, I didn't even dare to try them. Threw them right in the compost!

This place has a good vibe in the morning with people lining up and all abuzz. I stuck around to eat though, and I was the only one. They have six stools facing the window which was nice. But food wise the bagels were disappointing. They're a little small and they don't toast the bagels, so that your bagel is cold when it's served to you. I ordered the Euro (bagel with Kerrygold butter smeared on top) and it looked and tasted sad. So I saved that and put it in the air fryer at home and it was still just okay, although better than the bite I took in store since I added more butter and salt flakes. I also ordered the Everything bagel with a plain shmear and again, just okay. I don't mind if they use a generic cream cheese since I use that at home, but putting it on a cold bagel just made it feel funny in my mouth. Too bad because really wanted to like this place.

If I had my eyes closed and bit into a bagel here, at least the ones we had, I would think that I was on the bench outside of Russ and Daughters on Houston in NYC. Proper texture and chewiness. Had the lox, open face as I like, and it was delicious. Wife had bagel and schmear and she was equally delighted. Give this place a try if you are looking for authentic style bagels.

Ordered the lox bagel. The menu states what's on the bagel, yet the employees barely put anything on the bagel - more concerned with texting and talking. One employees bare midriff was touching the counter where the food was being prepared. Don't recommend

I am really bummed to update this review and I hesitated to do so because this is a new business, but with that being said, I do believe in honest reviews. So here goes....the bagels are delicious. The customer services needs some work. 1.) I have gone in numerous times over the 4 months to find they are consistently sold out of most of their bagels within hours of opening. I know they are popular and that is awesome but what kind of business model is it when you have to be there immediately after opening to guarantee their product. 2. They do not have a menu on their website. This is nuts in the year 2024. My coworkers and I have wanted to order bagel sandwiches from them more than once but we can't find a menu on their website. I called and asked them where I could find one and they told me to try Instagram. I searched and searched and finally found a photo of their menu but it was hard to read. When I called to order one of the sandwiches on said menu, I was told it was a seasonal special that they no longer had. It isn't that hard to put the info on your business website and update accordingly. 3.) Another day, I called to place a lunch order at 10:30 a.m. to find they only had 2 flavors of bagels left (both sweet). I don't know many people who want a turkey bagel sandwich on a cinnamon raisin bagel. Why even offer lunch on your menu if you aren't going to have the components to make the lunch sandwiches? 4.) I came in on Christmas Eve day 6 minutes after they opened to pick up a couple of bagels for breakfast. I was told that unless you pre-ordered bagels they didn't have any for sale. WHY? Why wouldn't you make some bagels for individual sales and customers? This info was not posted anywhere except on their door so I drove all the way in to learn this, wasting 30 minutes and gas. I want to like this business but they make it hard at times.

It's simple. Make great bagels and I will come. I've only taken bagels out, so I don't know about sandwiches.

They don't TOAST their bagels, never been to bagel shop in my life that hasn't. Cold, hard bagel. I doubt they even make the bagels on site. Seriously they should change their name to a coffee shop that has bagels. So disappointed..,

Service was as expected Ambiance needs to be established further Food-Fresh Sandwiches-almost I grew up in the Boroughs and the bagels had more core. They were also bigger. The ambiance of each sandwich seems to be similar without distinction. OMG!! These are REAL BAGELS!! Real east coast bagels like I haven't had in years. I ordered just a sesame and cream cheese and asked for toasted. They don't toast, he said. They're made THIS MORNING! Ok I said, baffled. Then I bit into it, and OHO!! So that's why!. Beautiful crunchy outside already, just dense enough, good structure without being leaden, just...perfect. And the iced coffee was a fruity good tangyness too. Very strong, good stuff. All in all, stellar, and note: the place has lines out the door at times. It was moving super quickly though. Great service. Delightful food. How I wish they were closer to us back in Kent.

The good: yes, these are the best bagels in Olympia. They're chewy and tasty. The bad: this place has no way to toast a bagel at all. I'm so shocked by this! A bagel place with no toaster? The bagels are cold when you get them which makes them harder to eat, especially if you get one of the bagel sandwiches. If they toasted the bagels my rating would go up 1.5 stars. PLEASE get a toaster oven! Also, it's expensive.

Great bagels, gets very busy so I suggest arriving earlier in the day. Take some home too!

I haven't even been here but I bought a few of their bagels from the co op and idgaf what the other reviews say I grew up in Brooklyn and I don't even leave yelp reviews and this place is GOOD. They are filling a sorely needed niche in olympia, there are no better bagels you will find around here even close to New York style bagels. Super happy this place exists!!!

Great bagels & service. Closest thing in town I've found to east coast bagels back home. In true NY bagel tradition they have salt & pumpernickel bagels. Now that they've expanded there's room to sit & stay. They've really worked out the new business kinks, running out of bagels and the long waits are consistently not happening. If lived closer I'd be here dangerously more.

Very friendly, welcoming staff! The bagel was delicious but a little on the small side. I also had the salmon spread which was fantastic on an everything bagel. So glad to have a local bagel shop in town.

This place had so much hype but it was a little bit of a let down. The bagel flavor was amazing! The cream cheese smear was also amazing! What I didn't expect was for the bagel to come to me cold and tough. There wasn't any option to get it toasted or I would have done that if I had known it would come out cold, day old tasting, and hard to bite. They are newer so still working out the kinks! I know they post on social media about making the bagels the day before but I thought maybe there would be a warmer of some sort to make sure that the bagels still tasted fresh the next day. The service was incredible! Everyone was super friendly and very polite. We didn't have to wait very long (only one person in front of us) which was great for a weekend. I think we will be back but we will be more likely get some bagels and cream cheese to go and heat them up at home.

I got the poppyseed bagel with scallion cream cheese and I added cucumber so yummy! This cream cheese is top tier!!!

The bagel I got was plain (ordered everything) but was good, unfortunate that they can't heat them up- it took me a year to finally drive by and get a parking spot. Great cream cheese. Unfortunately my family have also been given the wrong bagel or cream cheese so I probably won't go back. I will be back if they can heat them up, and I can see it before it's handed off!

Good place to go for a quick breakfast. Inside is small, some space to sit but not quite roomy enough to stay while eating. You will have to wait outside if there are more than 3 people in line. Service was good, the people working were friendly and welcoming. We got the Westside (turkey, bacon, tomato, scallion cream cheese) on a salt bagel. The inside was good, the scallion cream cheese was really yum. Similar to a previous review, the bagel itself is quite hard. The texture felt like it was toasted, but the consistency was giving that it was toasted a day ago. Not what I would expect from a bagel spot. Overall it was alright, but I would probably take it home to toast myself if I came back.

I love this place's bagels, but the young lady working today (3/11) around noon neglected to change her gloves or wash her hands before preparing my bagel, after I watched her use the same gloved hands to work the register (with a screen all the customers touch to complete transactions). I should have spoken up and asked her to re-do my bagel, but I shouldn't have to. Seems like a pretty unhygienic practice to me, likely a health code violation, and I won't be back as a result.

Lots of places purport "East Coast" style bagels - this place actually delivers! Perfect amount of crunch on the outside and chewiness on the inside. They do standalone bagels and schmears, as well as, a variety of bagel sandwiches too. Family tried the Lox and the Morning. Both were amazing. Love the fact that they incorporate local ingredients too! Get there early though. I was first in line on a Sunday and by the time I ordered there was a line of 10 people extending out the building.

Very good cream cheese schmear! We tried the scallion on the sandwiches and got a container of the salmon to go! Bagels nice and chewy, ingredients seem to be good quality and friendly staff. They do run out of bagel choices so you have to go early!

My wife is from New York and she KNOWS what a good bagel is and she raves about the bagels here... so do I. So take it from a bagel expert - Sixth Borough will do you right. And, their salmon cream cheese spread is to die for. Yummers!

Absolutely loved up to the hype! The line you see outside is more about people waiting for the orders than waiting to order. The prices are pretty reasonable given that you are actually getting a true NYC bagel and not some chewy glop that passes for bagels to the uninitiated. This will probably be a very regular ritual for us.

Recently discovered. This place makes the best bagels. Was told to check them out because of how I couldn't find a decent New York style bagel. Tried the Pumpernickel, Salt, and Everything. So delicious with or without the fixings. Plus it's a local baker.So thrilled.

Eh, it's okay. I went there first thing in the morning and there was a line of about 10 people ahead of me. It didn't take long to get through. The bagels were good however, they were cold and a little tough. They tasted day old. I expected warm and fresh bagels.

So happy to have a real bagel shop in town again. The bagels are delicious and worth the wait. Line was wrapped around the block but it moved fairly quick. Veggie cream cheese is full of fresh chopped veggies and dill and was so good.

Service was amazing, food was delicious, the bagel were a bit hard to chew on but overall amazing. We got a veggie bagel with scallion cream cheese and it was the best!!

Almost a 4 but growing pains get in the way. 3rd time trying and each time bagels inconsistent one to the next. They get the crispy chew correct.. but todays selection grossly under proofed, so inside gummy... edible with toasting Even good but not toasted crust too thick, inside yuck 2nd time brought to a alaska for testing. Unfortunately no plastic bag available . But bagels traveled well and remained toastable over a couple days... though evrone commented on how small for the cost. 1st time... well from a position of bagel deprivation not a bad start... just wish counter staff were more conscious if hygiene and food service. I look forward to more growth... but alas at 2.25 will remain a treat not a mainstay.

Everything I've tried from this place has been delishous from the creamcheeses to the bagels and sandwiches. I have Never been disappointed with this place. They are Awesome!!

Don't make a point of mentioning that you make the bagels the day before. Small wonder my pumpernickel was, blah. If you haven't the means to toast them, cook them fresh all day, like a real bagel bakery. Loooooove the extra charge for a bit of butter on a bagel that you can't toast. Really love that I have to ask if there is a charge for it, thinking-silly me-that a swipe of butter on a cold bagel should be part of it if requested. The pumpernickel recipe certainly needs work. Maybe ask around as to what pumpernickel should taste like. What i had was the most pale of imitations. Pale grey/brown dough with no zing whatsoever. If you know the difference, don't bother.

We walked in and it had a great vibe. I have never been in a bagel-only place. They were patient with my dumb questions, and were fun in general. The bagels were great, and my New York Husband loved them. We had a couple breakfast sammies which were great. Their care of their craft came across in their customer service. There was the smallest of hiccups that we never would have noticed and they fixed it with a new bagel. So, so good!

I have nearly lived in both the Bagelry in Bellingham and Blazing Bagels in Seattle with lots of friends (and free bagels) at both and I have to say any reviewer with any complaints about sixth borough is absolutely lost on what a good bagel is. This place is serving them, no doubt about it. I have eaten 4 or 5 of their bagel sandwiches now and each time they have been consistently amazing. The bread quality is very high, the ingredients are fresh, the eggs are cooked from whole after you order, they're very quick and kind and the place is cute as I'll get out. Absolutely thrilled this place is in the neighborhood. Ps the bagels are very good untoasted!! When they bake them to perfection the first time they don't want to ruin it with a toast. Listen to them when they say they won't toast it, they know their bagels.

Happy to get a new bagel place in Oly. There are a lot of good bakeries but not there aren't great bagels. We waited in a fairly long line over the weekend. We bought 3 (plain, salt, everything) types of bagels and scallion cream cheese. The bagels were great. They had a really nice chew. The cream cheese was packed with scallions. The coffee was good. Are we they the best bagels I've ever had? No. They are a little small but more importantly, we didn't get a crisp exterior. Are they the best bagels in the area, yes. They are very good. We will be regulars. Staff was nice and efficient. A welcome addition to Oly.
