The Best Gas Station Food Is in Hawai’i | Eater

"This Oahu-focused convenience-store chain transformed island convenience food after a Tokyo-based acquisition in 1989, adopting a Japan-influenced model of daily fresh foods and frequent new-product rollouts. Locals line up for dark chocolate–glazed mochi doughnuts, warm manapua stuffed with lap cheong, takoyaki corn puffs, award-winning Spam musubi, and newer items such as tonkotsu ramen with fresh noodles and sold-out bowls of beef pho brightened with Thai basil and sliced red onions. The operation continually develops products—often debuting one to three dishes weekly—and has collaborated with local culinary schools to create items like sinigang noodle soup and an ’ulu (breadfruit) stew; earlier introductions include pork hash, kimchi pork, and mapo tofu. While many locations are attached to gas pumps, the emphasis is squarely on locally tailored, made-daily convenience foods rather than fuel." - Martha Cheng

We literally had a day of nothing but 7•11 food while visiting Hawaii beaches. I was excited to see a couple of meatless options as a vegetarian. Y'all!!! They had tofu poke!!! It was sooo delicious. You can buy a separate container of 90 seconds white rice, mix it up and bamm! Delicious food! The egg salad sandwich was also pretty good. Stop, get your fix and head to the beach! Dessert items were also offered. They had plenty of meat items as well. The spam ones actually looked good 😆

If I could give negative stars, I would. Parked my car at the 7-11, bought food and an energy drink. I then went to the laundromat that shares a parking lot with the 7-11, not thinking anything of not moving my car. Lo and behold, not even an hour later, my car is gone. Didn’t see it leaving, so it had to have been towed at least 5-10 minutes prior to me leaving the laundromat. Went into the store to ask, and the lady at the cash register didn’t even say anything when we asked about the car, just held up a sign with the towing company’s number and address. If towing is such a big deal, i would have expected more obvious signage than two small signs well above eye level on the far side of the entrance. I didn’t even notice them until I specifically looked around for it. DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE. The 7-11 and the towing company’s (vip towing) need to develop some basic humanity and stop preying on people parking there.

We came here to buy lunch for our day at the beach tomorrow. The rice balls, Spam musubi, and sandwiches here are all very delicious and reasonably priced, which is why we like this place so much. It’s perfect for a packed lunch when going out, so we come here often. However, there is always a staff member who seems to be in a bad mood, which is a bit intimidating.😱

This place was awesome! Not only did it have plenty of spam misubi for my hiking trips, but it had plenty of other travel essentials that I forgot at home. This place can get busy but it is worth the wait. Staff is friendly and professional.

The store is located along a major street. It's easy to find. I couldn't stop thinking of acquisition of Japan's 7-Eleven by a Canadian company. You cannot expect the same wide selection of goods and services, but it's OK.

ZERO STARS! Owners just prey on tourists who don't know where to park or go and towed my rental. I was parked less than 30 min. Parked at 3:30pm on Wed ,Apr 2 after driving for over 30 min looking for parking for food around corner. They called as soon as we were out of sight. There were no signs anywhere in the parking lot or on the store windows. We checked. When I asked about my rental they picked up a sign to show me which was supposedly in a tinted window. Very easily missed if it was even there. NOT THE WAY TO WELCOME TOURISTS!

Worst attitude ever. If you really need something from 7 eleven and you don't want to go to the ABC store near. Use the other 7 Eleven across the street. They might not have what you need either but there attitude is a bit less useless.

We loved this 7/11 that was close to our hotel! Right next to convenient bus stops and they had a variety of musubis! Staff were friendly too :)
