I'm impressed. And that's not all that easy to do, particularly at a brewery (I usually prefer spirits). However, 7 Monks delivered an excellent and delicious experience tonight.
I had shared a pizza that my friends brought to a polish hall recently: "Brie, apple, honey & arugula" it was just divine. Upon finding out the pizza was from 7 Monks, I immediately added it to my list.
The staff was warm and accommodating, the bar stools were comfortable, and the ambiance was lively. I began by studying the menu. As I mentioned, I'm not a beer person, so their 50+ taps were overwhelming. I settled for a flight and took a liking to the "nitro neopolitan" that I tried.
I started with a side house salad, the herbal dressing was fresh and tasty. Now, time for the famous pizza. I ordered the small size which was definitely small enough for one (hungry) patron- a true personal pan. If you plan to share a pizza here, I recommend the larger size. The crispy, thin-ish crust, the buttery base, the slightly spicy honey, fresh apples, melted Brie & bitter arugula balanced just as well as I remembered. My only disappointment is that this is a seasonal item, and not on the menu year-round.
I ended the night with a peppermint hot chocolate with vanilla vodka. Yum!
This place really nailed it for me tonight. The only draws are as follows: no parking lot (though street parking is nearby and I was able to park less than a block away) no full bar (but they have plenty of seasonal cocktails and seltzer's on tap, along with wine and beer) and they didn't offer dessert (but the hot chocolate hit the spot for me).
All in all, 5 stars for 7 monks- can't wait to come back with friends and hit up the cool cocktail lounge next door after some great food.
