Everything from the service to the food was absolutely wonderful. Oliver and Malachi we're very accommodating and providing excellent customer service. The bacon hamburger was delicious, so was the espresso monk_tini & the old fashion. This spot was a five minute walk from my hotel so that made it perfect.

Located on the corner of Michigan Ave and Eastern Ave just north of downtown Grand Rapids, is a great spot for a happy hour or social gathering. Naturally bright atmosphere with many tables to accommodate small and large groups and the music selection was eclectically entertaining. Party tried a few happy hour items (smashburger, cheese curds and pretzel bites); all unique in their recipes and served with tasty sauces. Service was very friendly and attentive. Would go back to try other items on their main menu or for their happy hour deals.

Google
The food was excellent I tried their bacon jam burger with a fried egg I have to say is the best burger I ever had. Even their risotto tots was excellent as well if you want to going somewhere with a partner or with a group of friends this place to come. Even plus that I will recommend the risotto tots as an appetizer and the bacon jam burger with the fried egg as your entree.

We hosted a surprise birthday party here and had THE best experience. Our guests raved about the food (specifically the pizza, cheese curds and sweet potato waffle fries). Excellent drink menu with lots of variety, and the service was top notch. Steve was very accommodating and super easy to work with. Bri/Bree went above and beyond to make sure our event was special and I'll forever be grateful that she took the time to make our special occasion memorable. It was absolutely perfect. Thank you, 7 Monks!!! ❤️

Google
Great burger with an amazing bun. Check out their weekly special burgers. - Greasy Spoon Double Smash Burger - $10 (Monday special): Yummy. The Nantucket bun was the star of this show. It was soft, but full. Sweet, yet savory. Of the restaurants I’ve tried with Nantucket bread, this one takes the cake (umm…that came out wrong). The burger is an absolutely true smash burger. It was thinly and quickly grilled to give it that unique caramelized smash burger flavor. It had the seared taste and crispy texture and yet was still plenty juicy. The cheese was melted amazingly well, too. The toppings were unique compared to other restaurants. It had a “Secret Sauce” that had a chunk of something in it. I want to call it horseradish or thousand island, but I am not sure. The red onion, and romaine lettuce were fresh and added that crunch I love. Overall, it was a good burger and getting the Monday or Happy Hour special is a SUPER value. They also have a different burger every week so keep an eye on their Facebook page for that. - Shoestring Fries (comes with the burger): Shoestring fries are my favorite. These are battered, which makes these unique. They were fried to a perfect crisp and tasted great. There was a bit too much salt, but it was still okay. I don’t usually eat my fries with ketchup, but this time it tasted great with the fries. They were cooling a little toward the end so eat them fast. - Pretzel Bites - $7: Puffy but full bodied. They are fried to a nice mild crisp while still remaining plenty soft (even the most burnt one). The parmesan is the “icing” on top and made it shine. A bit on the salty side. The Beer Cheese Sauce was VERY runny and difficult to manage, but okay. The Jalapeno Honey Mustard was also very runny. It had a nice little kick (500 Scoville or less if I had to guess). Both complemented the bites fairly well. I’d go with the cheese myself, but not by a wide margin. The food overall was on the salty side. - Service: Good and positive. We were taken care of until our second glass of water. We seemed to fall off the map at that point. I think they were trying to get people cycled through as there isn’t a ton of room? They still took our dishes and handed us the check as expected, but I could have used another water before leaving. - Atmosphere: Modern upscale bar that plays loud music. There are classic books on the shelves including War and Peace (which I am currently reading). The seating is mainly wood chairs that are normal or bar stool height with tables to match. - Conclusion: I’d go back, but under certain conditions. I like a quiet place to talk and this is not that. This is more of an ongoing party. Visited at 5:30pm on a Monday.

Great place to go and hang out. Staff is always super friendly, and so many different beers to try! Great for any week night or just a casual lunch.

Tasha N.

Google
Good selection of beverages and several non-beer options. Cheese curds were the best appetizer we ordered, very good. Mini fried pickles were fine, and sweet potato waffle fries were slightly overcooked, making them tough. Smash Burger was good. Husband liked his bacon jam burger.

Google
I was there earlier this evening for the MNA annual meeting and despite the phenomenal staff and beverage options, I am quite sad to report that after looking everywhere include the bathroom and upstairs, they seem to not have a single monk available on the premises. Given that I was expecting 7 of them I found this quite disappointing, and did not have the opportunity to ask any of the monk or monetary oriented questions I had prepared for the occasion. It is possible I simply came on the wrong night. Will try again soon and report back. 👍

Yelp
A michigan Street staple. I always like to try a new beer here. The bartenders ask me what i usually want, and they always give me great new recommendations! I've found some of my new favorites here including Jumbo Juice and Space Dream. They have a wide array of seating, and a modern feel. It's much bigger than I thought! They always have some creative new burger for a weekly feature (it's pretty impressive), and they get bonus points for the Michigan State watch parties playing the game at full volume.

Yelp
Derek and I have been a fan of 7 Monks for the beer selection for quite a while, and we FINALLY made it to eat! They always have top-tier beers- I ordered a sour smoothie beer (Tiki Drip Melted Snocone) and was obsessed! I would drink this on the daily, but it is THICC so only one at a time I also had a coffee blond (State of Bean by One Well Brewing) and loved it so much, I ordered a couple more We ordered our food from their feature menu so you probably can't have it I had the char siu shrimp noodle bowl (which actually IS still on the feature menu, so go get it quick!) Derek had a mac n cheese from the feature menu that is no longer there but rest assured, it was amazing. We meant to try a burger while there, but got distracted by noodz ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also, our bartender was amazing! Leaving a bar and being like "wow did I over share with the bartender?" is like best case scenario for us, as she was very easy to talk to and engaging

Yelp
Came here during happy hour. Place was spacious. Sat at the bar and we were welcomed by Alyssa. Got some waffle fries, fried chicken sandwiches and Brussels sprouts. It is pretty tasty. Had a beer and monkarita. Yummy as well. Service was excellent and prompt. Alyssa kept checking on us and so did the other guy working there. Restrooms were clean and there's street parking. Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Not sure how we haven't been here yet, but we finally came and just in time to celebrate their 7th anniversary! Husband got the greasy spoon burger while I went with the Abbey burger that was brought back for the occasion- both were amazing and all I can hope is that they keep the Abbey burger on the menu!! Fries are plentiful. They do have GF buns and major kudos to the server who was able to ask if it was an allergy or preference and thought quite critically about if all the components of the burger were GF. The space is very cool, modern, clean with an impressive bar and many types of tables. They have high chair, have kids cups and a kid menu. There were a few other families present during early dinner time. There is a changing table in their amazingly spacious and clean bathroom! Of the many burger and smash burger places in town, we agreed that this one checks so many boxes (delicious, good value, great ambiance, family friendly, parking...) We will definitely be back.

Yelp
I love the service. Definitely not a place to go if you're starving but the appetizers and snacks are a great serving size and filled my stomach. Meanwhile the atmosphere is a totally cool vibe I live up the street and I love to go play their games when I don't feel like sitting at home. Also has a crazy good beer list.

Yelp
Had a great time at 7 monks last weekend. We got there around noon and started with a beer flight. I love fruity beers and enjoyed their big selection! We shared cheese curds, pretzels, and Brussel sprouts for the table. Shout out to the cheese curds. Omg- what are on these things!? So good. Pretzels were ok and the Brussels were spot on. My boyfriend and I shared the Rueben and fries. We thought it was great and were glad we shared! We would definitely come back- service was good and quick to get another drink. We loved the brewery vibe and really enjoyed their playlist! Music was rocking!

Yelp
7Monks does a great job with their Burgers . The buns are fresh , the meat is juicy and thick but not too thick you can't finish. Atmosphere is super cool and the libations are phenominal

Yelp
Our favorite happy hour in Grand Rapids! Seven monks, sweet potato waffle fries and cheese curds makes even the roughest day all better. Their very impressive Tap menu is sure to have something delicious and I love how they feature local and regional breweries. Service is friendly and you can usually snag some seats at the bar if you're early enough. Parking can sometimes be hard to find but a little patience and willing to walk will get you there in no time.

Yelp
The atmosphere and staff are wonderful! Very aesthetically pleasing with a side of kindness! We found out happy hour is M-Th 4-6! Off the Happy Hour menu we tried the Ruben Eggrolls and sweet potato waffle fries. My hubs also tried Doner kebab from the original menu. The sweet potato fries were great -I loved the curry aioli! I wasn't as impressed with the Ruben eggrolls -there were two total egg rolls priced at $7 for happy hour. They were okay, but we prob wouldn't order them again. The doner was okay, but was more of a gyro with red cabbage. It didn't have the flavor of a traditional doner kebab. The fries that came with it were solid, but we also prob wouldn't order it again. Overall, we will be back to try more!

Yelp
Great spot for a casual date night! We went in and had a couple beers and dinner. They have an amazing beer selection. We got the cheese curds and then shared the Caesar wrap and burger! All was great!

Yelp
I feel it's time for an update since my previous review listed many menu items that are no longer available. That's okay, because 7 Monks is consistently good and Nate and I are somewhat regulars there. It's close to our house and Nate is a mug club member. Their mug club is great because it's a lifelong membership that's good at their Traverse City location as well, and each year they usually do a Black Friday deal where the membership is not only discounted, but they also donate the proceeds to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital. 7 Monks has tons of taps, bottles, cans, and cocktail options. I like that the menu is organized by type so I can usually find something to order quickly. Employees are happy to help you choose something new or give samples so you can pick. They also offer a handful of N/A beers, which I appreciate. We usually sit at the bar and have good service. I'd describe their food as upscale bar food, with burgers, pizza, fried things, salads, etc. Their burgers are really great and we also love the hot honey fried chicken sandwich. I personally love their fries - they are the thinner shoestring style and always perfectly fried. I've never had anything bad to eat at 7 Monks, and it's on our go-to list of favorite spots. We always park in the lot behind Grand Coney, or if you're lucky you may find street parking out front.

Yelp
Went here for a birthday celebration at a recommendation from a FB group. The food was amazing and the beer on tap was unique and delicious. Service was the main issue. We watched as others were served and waited on before us, despite my wife and I arriving first. Overall, great food but poor service. Worth ordering to go.

Yelp
I just love 7 Monks. They're one of the most solid/consistent restaurants and bars in GR. While their renowned draft list is impressive, I continuously enjoy every appetizer, shareable, and entree I order. They still have a killer happy hour M-Thurs from 4p-6p. During summer months they have Kimchi Pork Nachos that I order sans meat and they're what the youth refer to as "fire". Seriously delicious. I love that they have Untitled Art Florida Seltzers on their menu. Highly suggest.

Yelp
7 monks taproom did not disappoint! Such a fun atmosphere with a huge selection of beers from around the state. Unique atmosphere that makes you feel part of a cool group of people but spacious enough that you have privacy. They have a huge space with a library and An upstairs! The pretzel bites were unique and delicious!!!! My boyfriend (Dan) raved about the fresh Parmesan. My hot chicken sandwich was sticky from the syrup but so tasty, I would definitely order both again! Space parking lot behind the building and street parking available. Dan's hot take on the bathroom: dark clean and seductive, quiet compared to the rest of the restaurant. We can't wait to return and try more!!

Yelp
7 Monks is the most consistent burger in Grand Rapids. You may find better burgers elsewhere on a good day, but never one that is a consistently great as the one at 7 Monks. Everything else on the menu doesn't reach the same kind of excellence, but there's consistently good items. My only criticism is I wish there was a bit more variety. If you don't want a sandwich, pizza, or salad, you're basically out of luck. For most days, that's plenty, but one or two more items would be great. I'm not a drinker, but my friends that drink enjoy this place, enough to get the membership.

Yelp
Popped into 7 Monks last night. I live pretty close and haven't tried it before (for food). Vibe is underrated in there... sneaky good. Drinks good, plenty of options for beer drinkers on tap. Everybody enjoyed their meal, only knock is the tomato soup was a little thick.
google avatar

Sandy T.

Yelp
Heard this was a great burger place in GR so went for myself and it's true! Service is slightly slow, getting seated and getting food, but worth the wait. The greasy spoon burger, oddly enough, tasted like a McDonald's burger but of better quality while the bacon jam burger had more depth with its sweet bacon jam. The shoestring fries were salty and fantastic. Will be coming back the next time a burger craving hits.

Yelp
Beer tap is on point at 7 monks! Came here after going to a tux rental place for my besties wedding and we all three decided to choose random beers for three flights to try. 10/10 recommend going with a group of friends you don't mind sharing drinks with and everyone orders something completely delicious or off the charts sounds terrible and ya'll have to try them. At the end, one person chooses who gets which drinks to finish. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose and get the bottom of the totem pole drinks. All in all, yum! Great for a fun time out. Amazing food too!

Yelp
A friend and I met here for happy hour recently. I hadn't been since probably a year prior to covid lockdowns, but had positive experiences at that time. They definitely still hold up! They always have a great beer selection, and I'm always surprised by how good their food is! I'm not sure why it still surprises me. A couple years ago they had a mussels dish on the menu that one of my friends ordered and it was incredible (they didn't have that this recent time). This recent visit my friend and I had a couple beers and decided to split a pizza. We had the Double Truffle Pizza: Blended White Truffle Oil Base, Mozzarella, Button Mushroom, Bacon, Wilted Brussel Sprout Leaves, Black Truffle Powder, Lemon Zest. It was absolutely delicious!! I can't wait to get back out that way to order it again. The friend I was there with doesn't eat meat, so we asked for the bacon on the side and they didn't have any issues with that. If you're in the area I recommend giving them a try!
google avatar

Kelsey H.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in all of GR! Honestly they have the best burgers in town and best beer selection!!! Think up-scale bar food with any drink option you can think of... beer, wine, cocktails, cbd water, and lots of NA options! The food is awesome, so many different options to choose from. The entire staff is super friendly and accommodating! The vibe is that of a modern Belgian pub with so much space!

Eric A.

Yelp
One of my go to places when teammates are in town from around the world..... I don't drink alcohol but I hear the beer selection is awesome, but for the non-alcoholic menu is great as well!
google avatar

Yelp
I'm impressed. And that's not all that easy to do, particularly at a brewery (I usually prefer spirits). However, 7 Monks delivered an excellent and delicious experience tonight. I had shared a pizza that my friends brought to a polish hall recently: "Brie, apple, honey & arugula" it was just divine. Upon finding out the pizza was from 7 Monks, I immediately added it to my list. The staff was warm and accommodating, the bar stools were comfortable, and the ambiance was lively. I began by studying the menu. As I mentioned, I'm not a beer person, so their 50+ taps were overwhelming. I settled for a flight and took a liking to the "nitro neopolitan" that I tried. I started with a side house salad, the herbal dressing was fresh and tasty. Now, time for the famous pizza. I ordered the small size which was definitely small enough for one (hungry) patron- a true personal pan. If you plan to share a pizza here, I recommend the larger size. The crispy, thin-ish crust, the buttery base, the slightly spicy honey, fresh apples, melted Brie & bitter arugula balanced just as well as I remembered. My only disappointment is that this is a seasonal item, and not on the menu year-round. I ended the night with a peppermint hot chocolate with vanilla vodka. Yum! This place really nailed it for me tonight. The only draws are as follows: no parking lot (though street parking is nearby and I was able to park less than a block away) no full bar (but they have plenty of seasonal cocktails and seltzer's on tap, along with wine and beer) and they didn't offer dessert (but the hot chocolate hit the spot for me). All in all, 5 stars for 7 monks- can't wait to come back with friends and hit up the cool cocktail lounge next door after some great food.

Ben T.

Yelp
Great selection of drinks, food is great. 10 dollar burgers on Monday is a good deal.

Yelp
7 Monks is a welcome addition to the list of pubs and establishments that litter Michigan Ave. I literally stumbled on this gem walking in one night after hitting a couple pubs down the way. What brought me back was to see this place in action while completely sober. To say Monks has a few beers on tap is an understatement. Monks has a slew of brew on tap making it a solid go to for selections of all kinds of beers. They also have a unique offering for food as they are one of the few places in Michigan that have cheese curds. What I've tried to date i would call a solid pub fare food offering. Walk into Monks and you'll feel like your somewhere else. High ceilings and big windows scream downtown GR but you're not downtown your on Michigan Ave. Keep it up Monks you are a welcome addition to GR's flourishing pub scene.

Yelp
I keep going back! I love this place. This visit we finally ordered pizza. Sausage and jalapeño. It was so delicious, I'm glad we ordered BIG! What is really striking about this visit is that two bartenders and one bar back were taking care over every customer in the place. And it was full. They weee so pleasant and calm. Engaging. Helped us with new ideas. They are stand out staff!

Yelp
SW Michigan restaurants are flat killing it with fried chicken sandwiches; last week it was Burdick's in Kzoo, this week it's 7 Monks' Hot Honey Fried Chicken. Deeply fried, lightly Hot Honeyed, its craggy greatness is enhanced by honey's heated sweetness and tart pickles. It did not have and did not need any other condiments. The bun is not just a meat conveyance; it's a culinary accomplishment of crusty outside, willowy soft interior. We don't need to cross the Atlantic after trying the European Grilled Cheese. Rich gooey cheese is enfolded in expertly grilled sourdough slices. We were a little blase about the general tastiness of the common pretzel bite appetizer, but the Monks made this their own via the magic of deep frying, grated parm, plus beer cheese and fancy mustard dips. I skipped the lager this time, trying the citrusy (that is a word per dictionary.com) and clean Brain Vacation Gose. Jessi's Paloma is also on draft and also citrusy. You should visit just to see the tap wall- sheer plumbing ingenuity! Service was great, too. Very attentive, the food took a bit, but its quality and the attractive space made it zero problems. Stop next door to the 2 James distillery, very cool spot selling drinks and bottles of booze made in the D. Parking was no problem for Saturday lunch, and it appears on street parking is not too bad otherwise.

Yelp
Food was amazing. The Apple bacon pizza was one of the best we have had. The mushroom appetizer was fantastic. The tomato soup was good too. Service was good. Ambiance was great. Good music, not too loud but great vibe. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Nice place to go. Not hugely exciting but not bad. It's a good first stop on your path to other places. Moderately expensive for what you get for the beer; and food is too I expensive for what you get. But if you're stopping by with a friend and want to get one beer, it's that kind of place (a one beer place). It's clean, staff is friendly and surprisingly attentive. Go have one beer (really, one, after that you'll likely be bored). But for one beer, I'd stop by again (oh and skip the food...your wallet will thank you).

Yelp
SERVICE: 3 FOOD QUALITY: 4 DRINK QUALITY: 4 ORDER TIME: 5 AESTHETICS: 3 NOISE LEVEL: 4 MENU SELECTION: 4 OVERALL EXPERIENCE: 3.85 Just a corner bar with beers from around Michigan. The inside was very large with lots of tables. The decor was very typical of a bar. We sat at the bar with intentions of only having a few drinks. Our bartender didn't talk much and didn't wait on us much which is why the service was given a 3. Everyone has off nights so I don't want to blame it on the restaurant. As I looked at the food menu I saw a crispy chicken sandwich so I had to have it so I could add it to my chicken sandwich list in Grand Rapids. The chicken sandwich was very good. When it says hot it just means it's warm, and not spicy. They warm honey and place it on a toasted bun and crispy chicken patty. It would be a solid 3rd best chicken sandwich for me if the chicken wasn't so thin. It's a toss up between 3 and 4 for me. If you have a sweet tooth and want chicken then this is a must. They offer solid beer selections from around Michigan. The food menu was select and also very typical of a bar menu. Overall, this bar was pleasant but for some reason it was very loud for being such a large space. Great bar considering it's just a bar. Looks like a great place for groups.

Courtney A.

Yelp
The smash burger is perfection! You can't beat the beer list! We use to love the kimchi nachos until they changed the way they were made.
google avatar

Yelp
Good menu for food and bevis. Great location for groups with a great beer selection and some local wines. Cool hang out with some good bar food selections. Tried out the hot chicken sandwich which while tasty could have used an extra kick in the level spice. Staff was great and the selections made it difficult to choose. Come for a cool hang out and good service.

Yelp
Great taps with a wide variety of beer, cider styles. Especially appreciate the flights so you can sample. Food is also delicious. Cool vibe in a convenient location.

Yelp
Ive had this place on my list for awhile! We went here for a drink and snack. Street parking only -- and a little patio! Inside was so clean and not overly industrial.we felt very comfortable. We ordered the blueberry lavender sangria which was tasted more like a cocktail, couldn't taste much wine, but wasn't overly fruity! We ordered the fried pickles and the pretzel bites. Both were very unique takes on classic appetizers. Very delicious. The fried pickles had some cheese and was wrapped in a wonton wrapper instead of breading, and came with ranch! The pretzels bites had a delicious queso with jalapeño flavoring and a horseradish mustard sauce! We were told that the fall version of their Brussel sprouts appetizer had apple chutney and squash flavors. I will definitely be back to try more unique items on their menu! Would be a great place to take any beer enthusiast.

Yelp
I usually grab a drink next door but stopped by for a bite to eat before going to the Van Gogh Experience during 4th of July weekend. Their taplist and drink menu has something for everyone and my hubby and I both found a great beer to try. We both ordered the Hot Honey Fried Chicken sandwich with fries. First of all, we love some sweet and spicy so this was right up our alley. I'd call it "west Michigan" spicy, which is to say "not very". I get it, no one wants food sent back to the kitchen for being too spicy, but I do wish they gave two spice levels like "make mine mild" and "bring the heat" especially with the honey tamping down the fire. The fries are really good as was the sandwich, even if it was on the mild side.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our night out at 7 Monks. We've been wanting to try it for awhile now and finally didn't feel like cooking and went to check it out on a Thursday night. There were 2 guys providing live music which was very nice. We sat in the bar area at a high top and the table had a sign to order at the bar, but one of the bartenders came out and took care of us. I started with the Perrin No Rules, which I enjoyed, even though it's a pretty pricey small glass. My wife had the Sex tap which was listed under ciders but it was more of a Rose wine/champagne but she enjoyed it. It did take awhile for her drink because they had to replace the keg. We ordered the Korean Kimchi Nachos which were listed as an entree but we ordered them first as an appetizer. They were absolutely fantastic and we ate the whole dish. The kick of spice was the perfect amount and the flank steak was a great addition. Definitely recommend trying this when you stop in. We also ordered a large Margherita Pizza which we weren't overly impressed with. It was so over powered by sauce and cheese that it basically just fell apart with the thin crust. The crust lacked flavor and I felt it was undercooked because it wasn't crispy enough to even pick up and hold the toppings. Overall, definitely a cool spot with a relaxing atmosphere. A huge beer list and quality nachos!

Yelp
It's difficult to stay away from 7 Monks Taproom. Awesome staff with plenty of smiles to go around. Plenty of room at the bar with TV's to watch sports. The smash burger is the best I've had in Grand Rapids. Very flavorful meat, the buns are soft, tasty, and light. If I want a burger, this is where I go. 50 taps of beer, cider, drinks. Something for everyone! All pros and no cons for 7 Monks. If you haven't tried it, you're missing out.

Yelp
Speaking from beer selection and service alone, this place is AMAZING!!!! I absolutely love how many varieties of beers they have on tap and their service is on point!! They do serve food but I haven't tried it yet. Can't wait to go back though and I'll definitely try the food then!

Yelp
EXCELLENT service from our bartender. Asked what we liked, disliked and brought a couple suggestions. He hit the nail on the head... we both ordered Hazelnut Brown. I was a little disappointed that there were no grilled meat options... everything is fried. I hoped maybe they used good oils, but everything is fried in canola. I went with the Kimchi Nachos and the flavor was on point, even without any dairy. Yum! The Sesame Chicken was great, just could use some more veggies. And the review on the pizza, per my child... it was good, but the sauce was a little too spicy. Loved the atmosphere and cleanliness. Again, the service was exceptional. Would definitely give it another go, especially since they seem to frequently update their menu with new items.

Yelp
Greasy spoon smash burger is outstanding!! Perfect combo of beef, cheese, sauce and bun. Fries on this last visit were a little cold but have been great in previous visits.

Yelp
Stopped in on Saturday for a little date night away from the tiny one. MSU was playing so we had to sit in the bar area to watch the game - obviously. Couple of tv's were on with the game, so seeing it wasn't a problem. LOVE the decor and layout of the restaurant. Fun and appealing. Nice beer menu - a little light in the stout / porters in my opinion.. but that's what i gravitate towards. Some of the beers can be a bit pricey, too. Food menu is pretty small but everything sounds amazing! Brussel sprout app - SO good. Love the bacon, cheese, and sunflower seeds. I liked the texture, but hubby thought they weren't as crispy as he prefers. Korea Nachos - really good! Spicy! Kimchi was good, sauces were good, just wish there was more meat! Big portion, too! Meatloaf special - amazing! But small. Hubby ate his in 2 seconds and then ate half of mine. All in all, we were impressed and look forward to coming back! Food was good, beer was good, service was good.. and really liked the ambiance.

Yelp
The cheese curds and the cocktails were amazing, but the food was terrible. The honey fried chicken was dry and hard..it's like they fried it way too long. The chicken strips my kids had were fried way too long and was just rock hard. The fries were chewy as hell. Our server was good, but whoever is in the kitchen needs to do better.

Yelp
A haven for beer lovers. They have 51 taps. Mostly local beer from beer city Grand Rapids plus beer from all over the world. Margarita or Moscow Mule fan won't be disappointed either. They have good Medes drink. Food menu is small but does its job. Wings are great. Ribs with rice are amazing. Fries are something you must check out. Street parking is available. Close to Hampton Inn hotel and many offices.

Yelp
At risk of adding to any crowds here and lessening the chance I can get a seat, I really love this place! Definitely a great spot to visit if you want to try a varied selection of brews; they have around 48 of them on tap! What I like is that I'm then not locked into just one brewery's selection. The food menu is not overly long but it has the basic staples of burgers, pizza, and a few other items. I love their burgers and the pizza, to me, is better than average. Their happy hour offers are good and Tuesday is happy hour all night till close so that's a great day to stop in. And the kimchi nachos are excellent, a nice diversion from traditional nachos.

Yelp
First visit! This place is excellent. We had the kimchi nachos & sweet potatoes fries. Both were outstanding. The staff was all friendly. I look forward to going again!!

Yelp
I've enjoyed my experiences at 7 Monks so far! It's pretty spacious and has seating available for larger parties. They have an extensive tap list with a variety of brews and ciders for everyone to enjoy. I was pleased with their food menu, too! Their fall features are pretty great, I just wish their serving sizes were bigger for the price you pay. The small pizzas are enough for a single serving, but if you get a large, the pizza's still pretty good when you reheat it. Although the wait to get service can sometimes be long (lots of places are understaffed so it's understandable), the staff is always kind and attentive.

Yelp
The idea of being able to walk to a pub/bar from the hotel is a big plus. 0.2 miles away and no worries about having a few beers and getting back. Kick back and relax time. Saturday evening, it's 6pm, early and it's not too crowded. I'm glad we walked, not much parking around that was evident to the casual observer. The beer selection is.... well, pretty good. I think I uploaded a picture of the wall of beers, and these are just the taps... There's plenty of bottled beer here too. I didn't see one regular mass market beer here at all. Score. Service was pleasant, the food arrived pretty quickly. I just ordered the fried Brussel sprouts (with dried almonds, bacon, parmesan and bacon!) - and the salmon sandwich. I was pretty pleased with my Brussel sprouts, I thought they might have been a lot over-done, (they were pretty dried out and dark) and I saw later before I left another portion going out that were brighter green, more cheesy - more bacon, and wished, wished that had been mine. That aside the salmon burger was pretty good, the flavors rich, and the side of fries were hot and fresh - and I believe made from fresh. They certainly looked like it. Overall, not a bad random find (with some help from Yelp) - I'd have given 5 stars if my appetizer had been a little less cooked. The atmosphere is a little sterile, but it's still a decent place to try. I'd give it another shot - or 3. Too many other beers to try... and many other foods to sample too.

Yelp
Man, never expected the taste and service I got from this place. Food is amazing. Place is super cute and my bartender was so nice. I'll be back.
