Our recent stay at the 7132 House of Architects in Vals was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the sublime harmony between the hotel’s striking contemporary design and the breathtaking alpine setting. Every detail of this remarkable place celebrates the art of architecture and the beauty of its surroundings, making it much more than just a place to sleep but a destination to cherish. We were welcomed with such warmth and professionalism that we immediately felt at ease. The team consistently went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, whether at reception, especially at the Blue Bar. The staff’s gracious attention to our needs was heartfelt and sincere throughout our stay, and their kindness toward our daughter was simply delightful. Their thoughtful gestures made our time at the hotel even more memorable and filled with genuine joy. The Blue Bar itself is a truly charming space with an inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements the beauty of the hotel. We enjoyed relaxed moments there in such refined company. The service, both courteous and attentive, left a lasting impression on us. The culinary offerings at the hotel were superb. It is clear that the kitchen places as much emphasis on the quality of the food as the hotel does on the overall guest experience. In sum, our time at the 7132 House of Architects was enriched by beautiful design, remarkable cuisine, and above all, an attentive and gracious team that made us feel truly welcome. We left with fond memories and without hesitation plan to return. This is a place that has captured our hearts, and we hope very much to come back one day.

Stunning architecture, zero hospitality — not a place to return We stayed at 7132 – House of Architects to celebrate our anniversary. While the architecture and the room are beautiful, it must be clearly stated that the staff, check-in, breakfast, restaurants and all services are exactly the same as the main 7132 hotel. Unfortunately, the service across these shared areas was consistently poor. From the moment we arrived, the lack of hospitality was evident. Check-in was cold, uninformative, and made us feel unwelcome. Throughout our stay, every interaction with the front desk felt dismissive and unhelpful. Breakfast was particularly disappointing. Service was slow and disorganized, there was no explanation of what was included, and when we politely asked to order something additional (such as eggs), the waiter reacted with visible annoyance. The coffee was cold, badly filtered, and contained visible coffee particles — something unacceptable even at a basic hotel, let alone one charging these rates. On another occasion, when we asked the front desk if there was a private space available for a short meeting, the staff member sighed and clearly showed frustration, as if our request was a nuisance rather than a reasonable question from paying guests. Communication was a serious issue. When booking, we were told that English would not be a problem, yet during our stay several staff members struggled with basic English communication. For an international luxury hotel, this is not acceptable. We were visiting for our anniversary, which was communicated in advance, yet at no point did we feel welcomed or cared for. The lack of hospitality was total. After raising our concerns with management, the only “compensation” offered was a bottle of water and a piece of stale bread, which felt almost insulting given the price and the overall experience. The only positive exception was the Italian restaurant, where the service was excellent and professional — highlighting how inconsistent the rest of the hotel is. This is a place with beautiful architecture but no soul and no hospitality. At this price level, service should be impeccable. Sadly, it is not. A hotel we would not return to. If you are not Swiss, this is especially not a hotel we would recommend.

Positives: really nice staff, excellent therme and decent gym. Negatives: rooms were extremely tiny with absolutely no space to keep anything (my stuff was on the ground), 24 CHF a drink at the bar which were below average, poor breakfast options (only boiled or poached eggs included In price) Did not feel like a 'luxury hotel' at all. Save your time and money (600 chf a night). Highly recommend going elsewhere.

I seldom leave reviews but this is Excellent space! Brilliant room design. Very inspiring - will definitely return. Courteous service too. Location is great - on the backdrop of beautiful alpine mountains. Self driving might be needed. The spa is a wonderful experience too!

Not in a wild or rustic way, but with an unmistakable sense of elegance.||||If you are an aesthete and a connoisseur of beauty, someone who appreciates the exclusive and the exceptional, then I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this remarkable place. I was left with the most delightful impressions from everything I had the pleasure to experience during my stay. From the exquisite gourmet restaurants, the panoramic breakfast views, the world-class Spa with its thermal waters, to the cloud like comfort of the pristine white bed in my room. ||After such a thoughtfully curated experience, one cannot help but drift into a deep and restful sleep, exactly what is needed to conclude the day on a perfect note.||||I had the privilege of staying in a room designed by the esteemed architect "Tadao Ando", and this was far more than just accommodation. It was an immersion into something greater, something timeless. A living testament to a brilliant vision, thoughtfully brought to life. Being in this space made me feel like a part of that story. Every detail of the interior serves as a quiet reminder of this and inspires one to reach for something more.||||I must also highlight the courteous and highly professional staff who seemed to anticipate my every need, often before I even voiced it. They are the ones who create this unique atmosphere, and from the first moment until the last, it was an absolute pleasure to be surrounded by such dedicated individuals. Whatever your expectations or requirements may be, rest assured they will be met promptly, seamlessly, and always with a smile. This place is, after all, all about tranquility and understated style, and they deliver this in the most effortless, professional and graceful manner. We came for Zumthor's spa, which we absolutely loved, especially during the night opening. The design of the baths creates a mood that is hard to describe but is truly special. As to the hotel House of Architects, we very much appreciated the obvious professionalism of staff, the atmosphere in the bar, and the quality of the breakfast. All of this comes at high prices, so we felt lucky to have been able to have this experience. Excursion tip for the summer: take the public bus up to the hydroelectric dam, cross the dam, walk back to Vals from there, with a break at the halfway restaurant. Superb views!

Returning guests, this time we stayed three nights booked two rooms. Wish we stayed one. The hotel offers no activities which are included for the hotel guests (yoga, etc., anything close to what hotels of similar caliber have nowadays on their menu). It feels like the hotel has not evolved, stuck in time not in a good way. Worse it’s scaling down on any extras, including breakfast where anything outside boiled eggs is subject to surcharge, without menu. There is no breakfast menu, one needs to ask the waiter and he has to double check the price. Cold cuts only meat, and plain beets carpaccio & hummus we saw every day, in addition to granola/ bread basics..no variation. Not very enjoyable. ||Staff especially at the dinning area - here compliments to Tony, are super friendly, professional, and constant. ||Front desk: the nightshift one gentleman for two nights was busy with admin work spread on the counter seemed very preoccupied with bills/ invoices, when approached referred to his colleague who was away for a few minutes... ||Massage was the highlight. As well as the dry fruit/ nuts in the room. ||Plastic water bottles in rooms.||Overall very expensive short stay for the value offered, recommend considering other lodging options, with separate entry to the Therme…

Last time I stayed at the House of Architects in Switzerland, I was thoroughly impressed. As an architect with experience from Richard Meier Architects, I deeply value quality, precision in proportions, and thoughtful material choices. This place is an absolute haven. Every architect should experience staying in one of these units to truly appreciate what great architecture can offer. From the attentive staff and delicious food to the beautiful location, everything is just perfect. Although the rooms might seem a bit compact, coming from New York, I find the space quite comfortable. Overall, I cannot recommend this place enough. I’ve visited three times already and can’t wait to be back!
