7.8 Makgeolli

First time trying makgeolli – and wow, what a way to start! We hit up 7.8 Makgeolli in Jung District, and this cozy two-story house instantly set the mood with hip-hop beats, funky posters, and a chill-but-cool vibe. We kicked things off with the original makgeolli, got fruity with the strawberry one, and finished in style with their so-called Korean Dom Perignon (an absolute favorite). The best part? The staff kept surprising us with extra sips from their wild flavor collection all night – like a makgeolli tasting adventure we didn’t know we needed. Food? Next level. The flame-grilled pork was juicy and packed with flavor, and the potato pancake hit the perfect crispy-chewy balance. A perfect spot for any occasion – dates, catch-ups, or just discovering your new favorite drink. I came for the curiosity, stayed for the good vibes, and left a makgeolli fan for life.

Hole in the wall at it's finest. Wide variety of makgeolli from all over the peninsula paired with great dishes. Above all the service and atmosphere make you feel right at home. As it has become very popular making a reservation is recommended. Also, to keep people moving they now have a 2.5 hour time limit per visit.

Forced alcohol charge, reported to authorities. I came to eat, but they forced me to buy a bottle of alcohol for 9,000 won as a condition to stay, even after I explained I don’t drink and the food was poor. I barely touched it I never even saw the bottle, but paying for it was the only way they let me leave. I had to pay 48,000 won. This is illegal under Korean law. I’m reporting them to the National Tax Service for unfair alcohol trading practices. Be careful with this place. Totally dishonest.

Hands down one of my favorite places to visit in Korea. Came here semi-frequently when I lived in Seoul for the range of makgeolli options, interesting menu, and good vibes. Now, everytime I visit Korea again, it's my go to place for sampling all the makgeolli I can't get overseas. Staff is friendly and informative. Basil potato jeon is always a classic 👌 forgot to take pictures before I started eating

Great customer service and really good food. They have a huge variety and give great recommendations for what you’re looking for or what you enjoy. Everyone is friendly and the atmosphere is great. Definitely should try this place. They speak English here too! Solid people working here. You get a discount for getting makgeolli takeout!

We were in seoul only 5 days but visited here twice!! Tiny little two story place with about 12 tables. Recommend to make a reservation, the person answering their instagram DMs is super responsive, english speaking, and extremely helpful! Fantastic selection of makgeolli and friendliest service. Can also take away bottles for 20% discount. Bought a few! Generous portion of tartare and their potato latke type pancake. Definitely coming back whenever we are in Seoul!

We had Yes The Day makgeolli obviously a clever wordplay tasted smooth for 5.5%. Two mains recommended by the house was fabulous pairing plus several samplings of other makgeolli. Makgeolli connoisseur shall rejoice. Polite enthusiastic staff.
