This place is so lovely! Their outdoor seating is fantastic, the inside of the cafe is so nicely decorated and very cozy and welcoming. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful and attentive. I had the iced sweetened hibiscus tea and it was delicious, but definitely on the sweeter side so if that’s not your thing, probably try something else on the menu. It was the perfect iced, fruity beverage for one of the first warm summer days in the city! Definitely will come back to 787 when I’m in the area again. :)

Google
I had such a great experience at this coffee shop! I tried the tres leches coffee and it was absolutely amazing, sweet, smooth, and perfectly balanced. What made my visit even better was the service. JJ was the one helping me and she was incredible, so friendly, attentive, and welcoming. She really made my experience memorable. I’ll definitely be coming back😊

Google
We ordered 3 different kinds of Puertorican coffee from their WOW drinks menu and it didnt disappoint! Distinct coffee creation, different from the usual lattes! Staffs are very knowledgeable and very kind to share about the origin of their coffee. Coffee beans are also sold in the cafe for home consumption. Freshly roasted beans and you can smell the aroma of their coffee once you step in their store! Great relaxing latin music. Restroom is also clean, available for guests.

Google
This café is amazing. You can smell and choose the coffee variety. The quality is excellent. You can also work on your laptop here. The staff's attitude is incredible. I felt right at home.

Google
Nick made me the best coffee of my entire life, great service, excellent atmosphere, I am currently on the swing closest to the wall while I sip my bag of horchata iced latte. I would come here just to get my coffee from nick again to be honest. - a pleased customer

Google
Jj took our orders and was very accommodating to our requests. We opted to dine in! Tried out the swings which were very fun and sat out front. It’s nice that they have reusable cups (nice and sturdy), I like to avoid plastic whenever I can!

Google
Ag was lovely and made this crazy city feel like home even for a little while when we were starting our morning. The coffee is amazing and knowing it is ethically sourced makes the taste even more enjoyable. I loved how the store pays homage to Puerto Rico and really tributes their success to the farmers that make the coffee roast possible!

Google
I stepped in because I saw lots of people coming out with cute zipped iced coffee pouches not regular cups. Barista offered to try latte made from rom infused coffee beans. As a very picky coffee drinker I can say- you will like smooth, no sour and not overly bitter taste with notes of smokey cinnamon and dark chocolate. It’s single origin. Its small place with California decor vibes and few small tables outdoors. Definitely had my moment of tranquility

Yelp
This coffee changed my freaking life. I'm 35 and have lived in the city for my whole life and somehow hadn't found my way to 787 yet. The vibes were immaculate and the service was incredible. Shoutout Matt you were awesome. I had an cappuccino that left me high-key shook. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
So good and it came in a little bag to go. Adorable !! Thank you !! The guy working was very nice and the coffee was great.

Yelp
I was meeting friends in the area, but both were late so I looked for a spot to grab a coffee. 787 was on the same block and it was raining, so I decided to give them a try. Barista was super nice. But I'm also not sure why my flat white cost me $10? I'm not cheap when it comes to coffee and I frequent coffee shops quite often, and it usually only costs me anywhere from $6-$8 for a flat white. The coffee was also just fine? I'm not sure why the extra price tag. My friend was earlier than the other, so she also stopped in for an iced latte and felt the same.

Yelp
Ever wondered what your coffee would taste like if it had a wild night out? 787 Coffee is here to answer the question nobody asked. Their alcohol-infused beans (minus the actual booze) come in tequila, whisky, or rum. It's all so strange to me, getting the taste of a hangover without the fun memories to justify it. But if you've ever wished your coffee tasted like a margarita at 7 AM then your oddly specific dream can come true here. I have to say I was a little curious about their coquito latte though. Their regular coffee was solid, and they have a bit more quiet seating where you can park your laptop in their adjoined storefront next door. 787 Coffee sometimes hits, sometimes misses, but I admire the audacity.

Yelp
Ordered: Tres Leches Latte (~$8): with oat milk (+75¢) and made with rum infused coffee (+$3) Iced Matcha Latte (~$9): includes oat milk (+75¢) and vanilla (+$1) Aya's take: I've had 787 Coffee on my list for some time and finally decided to give it a try since I was in the area. The packaging is playful & different; if you're looking for standard cups, you might need to ask them for it or get your latte fix somewhere else. I ordered the Tres Leches Latte and was asked to choose between rum and whiskey coffee beans. I went with the rum one only to later find out that that was an additional $3. I didn't appreciate the unnecessary upsell honestly and suggest they be more transparent with their phrasing. The rum-infused beans had notes of chocolate, cinnamon, and nutmeg while the whiskey-infused beans had notes of chocolate, vanilla, and berries. The Latte was nice & creamy but honestly, nothing extraordinary to justify paying ~$12 for a latte and especially considering how many quality coffee shops there are in NYC. The Iced Matcha Latte also wasn't really worth the price, it was just decent. The decor inside is lovely and the packaging is super cute; the flavor and price just missed the mark for me.

Yelp
I had an excellent coffee and thus returned a few more times during my stay in NYC. Also loved the layer back artistic ambiance. But most important was the delicious coffee.

Yelp
First time here despite being frequently near one of their other locations. This location is on the smaller side but very good vibes indoors and outdoors. The cold brew with oat milk was very good though it's definitely pricier than most cold brews ($7+)

Yelp
I couldn't believe how many locations 787 Coffee had - We stopped by early in the morning to grab some caffeine and a snack - a Dulce De Leche Latte and a chicken empanada. The latte was standard, and I couldn't really taste much of the 'rum-roasted beans' that we substituted for which was highly recommended; note that this was a Christmas seasonal item. The empanada, which was raved as one of their popular items, looked good, but it was not even heated properly - it was still cold inside. Staff were friendly and very welcoming, and they were very eager to share with us the concept of their coffee chain. The place is cozy, and there's some seating inside; I thought it was cute that they also had a swing chair. +cold empanadas +friendly staff

Yelp
Loved their coquito latte even if it comes in a weird bag LOL. I wish it came in a regular cup, but it was really creamy and light. I drank it all in one go.

Yelp
Happened to be in the area. Found parking a few blocks away for free. This is a cute, little, coffee shop that also sells bakery items and has unique Lattes. I ordered the coquito and hornchata Latte which came in a cute, adult sized Capri sun type packaging. We also ordered a chicken empanada and banana nut bread. The lattes were good, not overly sweet just a bit too much for me. I wasn't a fan of the chicken expanada but the banana nut bread was OK. Decided to sit inside and take in the decor while enjoying our drinks. There are swings at the front window foe you to sit at and chill. Folks were inside doing work and chatting it up. Overall, the coffee was good. They had whiskey/ run flavored coffee but do know, this place is expensive. All 4 items came to $33.
google avatar

Veronica L.

Yelp
Very cute, cozy interior where a lot of people come to work on their laptops. There are a lot of packaged goods and swag to buy, and the barista is very friendly. I got the Latte with Hazelnut flavor ($7) and it was not for me. Perhaps it was the hazelnut flavoring, but I personally didn't enjoy the roast of the latte, itself. I was very taken aback at the price I paid for a general 12oz-ish cup as well. It was definitely pricier than other cafes. Unfortunately, 787 Coffee won't be in my cafe rotation, but I admire the scale of this franchise.

Yelp
Amazing coffee shop in NYC! I tried this place on a whim while visiting the city, and I'm so happy I found it. The beans are shipped to NYC from their coffee farm in Puerto Rico, which is incredible. What's also incredible is their different lattes - Horchata, Coquito, Tres Leches - just to name a few. Also, they offer infused beans. You can choose from rum, whiskey, or tequila infused beans. There is no alcohol in the infusions as the alcohol evaporates in the roasting process. While the infusions are a small upcharge, they do bring out different flavors, and I highly recommend trying them. I ordered an Iced Tres Leches latte with oat milk and rum infused beans, which was incredible. It came in what looked like an IV bag with a sticker that said, "Caffinated Human of NYC." It was such a cool and totally Instagramable touch! My boyfriend tried a Long Black, which is the Australian version of the Americano - two shots of espresso poured into hot water. He said it was smoother than an Americano, and he really enjoyed it. Overall, if you're into quality coffee, 787 is a must while in NYC, and thankfully, they have multiple locations.
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
Single origin sourced beans from Puerto Rico. They were unfortunately out of vanilla so I settle for hazelnut and it was also still good! The barista was friendly and the coffee was served in a cute bag!

Poppy L.

Yelp
Excellent Chai and great vibes. Good spot to get some homework done. Friendly barista (Charlotte?)

Kate C.

Yelp
I ordered a latte and an americano, and it cost me $22!?! I asked for drip coffee and they said they don't serve that, but they could make an Americano. Then they asked what espresso beans I wanted to choose from, never mentioning that some beans were an up charge, and non- dairy milk was also an up charge. And they make each drink 1 at a time, slowly. So you have to sit and wait about 15 minutes. No thanks

Yelp
Used to live in nyc and would come here often. Every time I visit the city, I try to make it back in. You can't go wrong with their coffee menu. Their flavored lattes are incredible and great food too!
google avatar

Yelp
Food: 5 Coffee is fresh, with creative flavors and iced drinks come in a bag! My favorite is the Mazapan latte. Service & Ambiance: 4 This shop is great at telling its story with decor and photos to explain the origin of their beans. Lines can be long when there is only one person working the counter.
google avatar

Sofia L.

Yelp
popped in for a quick coffee after lunch and didn't expect to spend $12 on a single drink before tax. workers didn't explain that the beans we chose were an extra $3, either. while decently tasty, feel like I could have gotten two drinks for the same price elsewhere. shop itself is pretty cute and I liked the swings they had, as well as the fun decor.
google avatar

Ashley L.

Yelp
My friends who lives in NYC's favorite coffee place ever- it did not disappoint! During summer, they are serving their coffee in bags. Got the vanilla ice latte & it was delicious. It's creamy, strong and reliable. You can choose your beans (they have spicy, chocolate, etc) Friendly service, reliable & quick. Cute ambiance with swinging chairs in the front

Yelp
Big shout out to the team at this 787 location for the amazing experience and life saving cold brew. I only popped in for a quick coffee to go, but I was super impressed by how gorgeous the shop was. A small but awesome place to get work done and enjoy a beverage. Menu is fairly standard. I had a flavored cold brew and it was absolutely delicious. Hit the spot on a sweaty day and is a spot I would get back to again and again. Looking forward to my next trip! Go enjoy!

Yelp
I was curious to see what kind of spin on flavors 787 would be able to make for their Puerto Rican coffee. I was impressed! I picked up an Iced Coquito Latte with Rum Infused Espresso. I didn't even consider trying the rum infused espresso beans, but the barista had recommended it to me. I enjoyed the container it came in with the cute little graphic "Only IV I Need" The coffee itself was very good. I liked that I could taste the flavors that they were going for. I was a little thrown off by the rum flavor at first, but eventually came to appreciate it. I liked that the rum flavor complimented the coquito latte well, though I'm not sure if I would get the rum infused espresso again since it was a bit pricy, but it was definitely nice to try it (it was an additional $2 or so to add it). Other than that, I will say the inside of the store is pretty small which makes it harder to get around inside, though there is some seating available! I would recommend coming here at least once to try their fun and unique flavors!

Anna K.

Yelp
this place is cute but the music is awful, just the most hod awful pop. please turn it off! jazz? smt. that is not absolutely abhorrent? coffee's are over priced.
google avatar

Akilah R.

Yelp
I mean Puerto Rican coffee is great (I stand 10 toes on that). This is PR coffee from one of the mountainous regions and I love it. I also like how the cold coffee is in the to-go baggies which is cool and seems eco friendly. Chicken empanadas were slapping (I think it depends on location - I've had them when they were meh).
google avatar

Anya T.

Yelp
Cute spot but fairly small. Loved being able to support a BIPOC business that is rooted in preserving their Puerto Rican heritage. I got the tamarind iced tea which tasted more like a mild 50/50 lemonade iced tea with a kiss of tamarind. It was a very light flavor but not too sweet and refreshing. This place is very small. It seems to be popular among college student or locals who use it to get work done! Very cute spot and they have merch!
google avatar

Clara S.

Yelp
Love the atmosphere of this place. They have WiFi and outlets for those that need. They also have these super cute swing seats!! Be careful though because I saw someone almost fall. Haha. they have rum and whisky flavored coffee beans for those that want to purchase them. The girl that helped me with my order was super nice and I appreciated her great attitude at the cashier!! She asked if she could take a picture of me for their social media page too. They also have a 5% off neighborhood discount if you live/work in the area. They have food like breakfast burritos, empanadas and cookies. I didn't get any of them but they sold out of the breakfast burritos while I was there so it must be good. Will definitely return next time.

Yelp
This store is an aesthetic gem and the coffee is fine. They present themselves as positive agents for a Puerto Rican coffee farm. I am concerned this is a deception. I thought I was endorsing a "Green" shop and I wonder if I have been fooled. In my conversations with the Barista's I am told - and I have no way of verifying this - that the company hires undocumented immigrants who are afraid to report problematic work conditions, including unhealthy temperatures in the store The 58th store for example is often sub zero and when I asked the Barista they say they boss says "Wait until Spring" Other Baristas tell me "the pipes need to be fixed" but weeks go by and the upstairs heater is cold as ice, AlsoI have personal knowledge of a person whose chair broke and when the company was informed that this was a danger for the customers and they should investigate the integrity of the chairs there has been no response as of yet. Perhaps all I am campaigning about is capitalism, But it saddens me as I really felt good thinking I was helping the poor PR coffee growers. I don't want to report them to the Department of Health or the Immigration Dept but I do think us coffee drinkers should inquire of the hard working Barista's if there working conditions are safe

Yelp
Overall great experience here! Went with 2 others and we got a coquito latte, an iced mocha, and a dulce de leche latte. The whiskey/rum coffee beans were so delicious in the drinks. Service was very friendly and efficient! Plus the cafe itself is so cute, love the swing seats in the front window. Perfect spot for a coffee in the summer!

Yelp
I loved 787 in San Juan and was excited to find locations in NYC. This location was just as cute as the San Juan location and the staff just as friendly. It is tiny though. I had an excellent latte with rum-infused espresso. It was one of my favorite lattes ever, with a rich, delicious flavor. The beans have been soaked in Don Q, which is one of my favorite runs. I also had black bean empanada, which was good. I had meant to get back during my recent visit and did not, but will during my next NYC trip.
google avatar

Dave L.

Yelp
Get a shot of rum espresso. No, you won't get drunk. But you'll get caffeinated! This is my favorite 787 location. I had my first experience with them here, and they're convenient to Tompkins Square Park. This cafe is tiny, so sit at their table and finish that email, not your memoir. Or have a quick date here - if you don't mind having a date with everyone else there. The staff has positive vibes - shout-out to Maya! - and are welcoming to neighbors and visitors alike. (If you're a neighbor, say so!) Remember, get a shot of rum espresso. Hot. Which is the only way you should take espresso, yeah? p.s. Thanks to Megan C. for reviewing 787 first! Thought I had, but turns out I only had a draft saved... :p
google avatar

Sze Ting L.

Yelp
Got the coquito latte with rum infused espresso, which was really, really interesting. There's a hint of cinnamon, and the coffee comes in a plastic bag. The only downside is that it's extremely expensive for a latte ($11+) I finished it much quicker than expected! In addition, the staff was extremely friendly and knowledgable in all their products. There is also both inside and outside seating.
google avatar

Sophia W.

Yelp
I'm absolutely obsessed! The interior is so lovely, the decorations and merch are adorable, and the music and vibes are on point. It's a small and cozy place to drink coffee. I love their lattes. The staff are so friendly and give you a discount if you live/work in the area. There is wifi but no bathroom.
google avatar

Young Woo S.

Yelp
Quick coffee, cozy store I got talked into a slightly more expensive coffee than I'm used to. It's a regular americano with rum-infused coffee beans. It does smell and taste slightly of cinnamon and is not bitter at all - thanks for the suggestion

Andy C.

Yelp
miguel was great. he was super nice and kind, and even delivered my coffee straight to my table

Matthew S.

Yelp
When 787 was new to NYC, they were quite nice. They offered a neighborhood discount and really were focused on delivering value to their customers. Now, they have proliferated across the city. Yet, the shift from a focus on providing value to extracting money appears evident. Their rum-infused coffee is great, but, we're now at $10? That's not quite a cocktail but it is compared to the many good coffee shops in the city, the very top in terms of price. Also, if you're going to have products to take-away, like the Mezcal cold brew, you should really have some available in the store for someone to try before they buy it. Bizarre that they don't have straws and that their packaging for a cup of coffee is now a large pouch [I grant you this is larger than at many other shops but, is that really necessary? Maybe offer a small and a large at different price points?] Summing up: Good coffee, but you'll feel a little ripped paying the very top of what one pays in Manhattan for good coffee, and they will totally upsell and/or charge for premium milks [but that's kind of a scam at all coffee shops, isn't it? Like, how can a coffee shop not have milk and/or charge for wanting it?]
google avatar

Elsie R.

Yelp
Honestly, I keep trying to give this place another try and always leave disappointed. Yes, the taste of the coffee is great. Food, very tasty. It's the service and price that falls short. If you're going to charge $7+ for a basic coffee or espresso, for the love of god please adequately staff the place. It has always taken 15+ min to grab a simple order with a couple of people in front of me. If there was more than one person working at each location it would greatly enhance the customer experience. Also, while the compostable pouches are quite cute, they are not practical. Set mine down on the coffee table and it immediately fell over and spilled everywhere because the top literally does not fully close and the bottom is not always flat.
google avatar

C. Y.

Yelp
This used to be my favorite coffee shop, but these days it's the most expensive cup of coffee in the neighborhood (up to $10 for a cold brew) served by constantly changing baristas. In the mornings, there is regularly only one barista so sometimes the wait for an expensive cup of coffee is significant. It's really lost its neighborhoody charm.
google avatar

Anthony P.

Yelp
Really like this place - one of the workers brings the energy and does a great job bringing his passion to his work and he will insist that you try the rum infused coffee haha. There's another location close to me and I love this place for their innovativeness - some things are a hit, and some things less so. Really like the Coquito Latte which is on the sweeter side as it has both evaporated and condensed milk but it's modeled after a puerto rican holiday drink and given the good ol' coffee treatment and it is quite the treat. The drinks here are more of a treat than other coffee places. MAZAPAN LATTE W RUM INFUSED ESPRESSO The mazapan latte was def interesting and remimds of those candies that have nuts embedded in them in like a sweet crunch block. Pieces of actual chopped up notes are in the coffee which I can't say I totally enjoyed but the coffee was good. I think because there was so many new flavors going on it was hard to detect the rum infused espresso so I would recommend getting it in something you're used to (regular latte perhaps)
google avatar

George C.

Yelp
Awesome cafe with specialty drinks, tried the coquito latte and it was delicious! The space was really nicely decorated with lot of seating and space for work chill vibes, the baristas were very friendly and helpful, make sure to ask for the 'neighborhood discount' ;)
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
Popped in for some drip coffee since I was running some errands in the area. I don't recommend it. The barista was nice, but the coffee tasted pretty bad... in fact, of nothing at all (it was very watery)! The decor is pretty nice though. However, given the size, it wouldn't be an ideal spot to plant down and do some work. A short read at best.
google avatar

Darlene H.

Yelp
Ok this review is partially my bad because I didn't bring my glasses and I was really not paying attention lol. I got a vanilla latte and got to choose the beans and milk- got skim milk and asked for a bean recommendation. Barista said rum would be perfect and I said yes- and that was my mess up haha because it ended up being $10 for this small cup of coffee . Personally felt like the rum flavored beans and vanilla were battling each other flavor wise so it didn't compliment in the way I thought it would. Yes it was a good cup of coffee but I did not like it enough to justify the price + additional cost for the rum beans.
google avatar

Ellie P.

Yelp
The matcha, chai, and coffee from this place taste AMAZING. The staff is also extremely friendly. Really nice and spacious shop as well. Highly recommend!

Emily Villarreal V.

Yelp
Food and ambiance were on point as always and Matthew was an absolute pleasure to have as a barista. Coffee served with a smile!
google avatar

Lucille H.

Yelp
Cute little space with outdoor seating. Coffee is pretty good by New York standards. Coffee is not good by Portland standards. Maybe I'll try their novel specialty drinks next.
google avatar

Susan H.

Yelp
I don't like this place or their coffee it is a chain. There are several of them all around the city they keep trying to upsell you on their weird expensive beans.

Victoria H.

Yelp
good coffee. they will recommend upgrading to one of their specialty beans without mentioning the $3 surcharge. cafes need to have restrooms for their customers!
google avatar

Chloe K.

Yelp
A cafe with character, very unique and special! Saw the Coquito Latte in the menu so decided to try it. Pretty good! Wouldn't mind coming back to try their famous rum infused coffees!

Yelp
1st time! This cozy place have everything. A large table in the middle + 4chair each side. It set up 8. counter table there's a chair about 3. and a Small Table and 2 chair. You can also Sit down outside. they also have about 3 tables. Wi-Fi & printer color and black and white are available. you can use the Bathroom as well. Friendly customer services! When I order a macha latte, I felt he still needed mix more? I felt I was drinking a powder while I was drinking. lol If you're working at this location I won't recommend/ they have A very loud music you have to speak very very loud. I also see the collage Students are studying hrs and hrs. so it's hard to get a new seat for the New customers.

Siddhi S.

Yelp
I've gotten their horchata latte and it's so good and creamy. The staff there is extremely friendly and will help explain what each of their drinks is. The place is also very cute and very insta worthy

Yelp
Nice quaint coffee shop. Enough room for multiple Computer users and nice comfy environment for any book readers! Their coffee is lovely and easy to grab. Can just order VIA online and pick it up at the window!
