We were there off session, in late March, which I'm sure the speed and service efficiency is different from summer months. The Fall veggie melt on facoccia bread, the turkey bacon wrap, the pastrami sandwich, the vegetarian chili, and he onion soup were delicious. The chocolate chip, peanut butter, and the sugar cookies were delicious, too. The service was quick and efficient. You can place your order ahead of time on the phone and avoid waiting in line.

7a in Tisbury is a culinary gem that consistently delivers a delightful dining experience. The moment you step in, the aroma of their scrumptious offerings envelops you. The sandwiches are a true standout, bursting with fresh ingredients and imaginative combinations that cater to every palate. Their salads are equally impressive, showcasing a medley of flavors and textures that leave a lasting impression. And don't even get me started on the desserts – they're a delectable finale that's worth saving room for. With each bite, you can taste the care and creativity that goes into crafting their menu. 7a is a must-visit for anyone seeking a delicious meal on the island.

Had a wait 40 minutes for two separate orders the food though was very good just go before to the lunch crowd arrives

7aFood is truly such a gem on Martha's Vineyard! Locally and family owned, I love supporting this spot! Their sandwiches are some of the best on island, their Liz Lemon is truly spectacular. Their soups are so so good and tasty delicious! Plus, I always grab a coffee when I am in the area, plus a bag of my favorite Chilmark Coffee beans as well!

Google
So so disappointed in 7a. I've been coming here every year for 8+ years, and have always enjoyed supporting an establishment that cares about serving quality food, meaning true farm to table, using local farms. Apparently that philosophy doesn't exist anymore. When I picked up my order it was completely wrong. I called and told them that I'd like to have my breakfast sandwich re-made. When I repeated my order, specifying a LOCAL egg, she said we do not do that anymore. I asked, is it at least organic and she no. I can't support an establishment that doesn't care about supporting their own local farms and would prefer to serve sad, warehouse chicken eggs.

Waited 40 minutes for a grilled cheese sandwich. I'll find someplace else for lunch next time.

One summer more than 5 years ago, I was eating there regularly for a month while working there as a student, most of the time Liz Lemon. I still think of that sandwich sometimes. I have no doubt that sandwich is best one i had in my life. Owner was a professional cook who started his own business, and he had so much patience and will to teach me even tho he knew i will leave soon. Since i worked there, i know that ingredients are always fresh and of high quality. Wish you all the best.

Google
Love this local shop in Tisbury. Homemade cookies are to die for, especially the molasses ginger snaps. They are giant and delish! Great sandwich options. Today we had the Liz Lemon which is similar to a Reuben. A good size to share or save half for later. These guys are busy so you may need to be patient but they are friendly and it's well worth the wait. Online ordering may be available too. Pick up your picnic and head to the beach or the Light.

Yelp
Incredible food, friendly staff, summery Vineyard atmosphere. Pricey, but what on MV isn't? Take your food across the street to the outdoor seating by the library.

Yelp
Great breakfast sandwiches- recommending getting them on croissants. The chai tea latte was ok- it looked like pure white milk, but you could taste the chai. The line was long but moved quickly- you order inside and then wait for the food outside by the pick up window. They don't start serving lunch sandwiches etc until 11 am, so plan ahead if you want to bring them to the beach etc. Many people came in and said they had ordered ahead, which we did not know was an option. This is right next to a cute general store/market so there is a parking lot, but it very busy so may have to circle a few times!

Yelp
Wow, I'm at a loss for words right now. I witnessed an innocent customer get harassed by a poor, bad mouth employee. I'm embarrassed that these two women have no respect for customers, I'm even MORE embarrassed that the manager didn't stick up for the customer. DO BETTER!! This customer had to defend herself for being bad mouthed for no reason, the two workers called her a very bad word I will not repeat. The innocent customer had to use foul language due to the scrutiny she faced. PS - It's july not June. AND WHAT BREAKFAST PLACE DOESN'T HAVE BAGELS.

Yelp
Delicious sandwiches - Liz Lemon sandwich and cookies were great. Helpful staff and very welcoming. Recommend!

Yelp
I will be dreaming about this biscuit till I go back ! It was sooo wonderful ! They had great coffee too !

Yelp
Speaking of nothing to write home about, this nice, local place makes a decent sandwich. No doubt about it... But yeah, what I said earlier. We all really enjoyed their cookies though. Sandwich-wise, totally unmemorable.

Laura L.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars, I would ! Staff and management are so rude and disrespectful. Don't bother going here! Customer respect is obviously not numberpriority. After being takked rudely to from two Staff members and addressing it, the staff continued to be extremely rude and basically saying no items because itbis June. Not at one moment did we complain of an out of stock item but badgering customers and whispering under their breath until comfronted, that the situation had to be escalated. When addressed to I would assume an owner, he immediately stuck up for his rude Staff. Instead of de-escalating the situation thatcwas uncalled for her agreed with his staff and refused to listen to the customer. Let's remember you may not like tourist but don't be like the mayor in JAWS, US TOURIST HELP SUPPORT YOUR SMALL BUSINESSES AND ECONOMY... Kerp it up and you'll be on wellfare all winter and all tourist will know your business is awful. We walked in excited to try this place and kicked out for defending ourselves. After 30 years on this islsnd I'm NOW NOT SUPRISED I'VE NEVER HEARD OF YOUR WHOLE IN THE WALL. AWESOME customer service said Noone ever! YOU WANT TO BE VERBALLY ABUSED GO TO THIS DUMP! IF you want to be treated like a valued customer go else where.

Yelp
7a has been our go to place especially for their fresh baked goods. their sandwiches are pretty awesome too and they have the right location in the center of the lovely historic town of West Tisbury right behind Alley's Store which is another favorite. There is a parking lot right in front shared with Alley's and the farm shop where you can pick up fresh vegetables and fruit. All in one stop. The WT Public Library and the Field Gallery are located across the street so you can visit them too while there. A great Island market - worth the stop and the owner and staff are all very friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
Everything is always fresh! From the moment you walk in the waft of coffee hits you. Then you need to decide...do I get a handmade sandwich from the board? Something yummy from the fridge? What about freshly scooped Icecream??? The choices are real! Real yummy! Fancy crackers, island coffee and cheese are always available. You can splurge on yourself or share with a friend!
google avatar

Robert C.

Yelp
There are not a lot of food and shopping choices on this side of the island, but thankfully, this is a terrific one! Great sandwiches, and I mean great. A ton of choices, fresh ingredients and packed with flavor. Add to that speedy service and a mini-market with almost everything one could need on short notice - staples from milk through cheeses, fresh veggies - and in our case, all the ingredients for Pina Coladas including canned pineapple slices, and coconut cream! All served by some friendly folks. Yes it will be crowded but it moves quickly...and beats a long drive to the big town - plus did I mention the great sandwiches?
google avatar

Angie E.

Yelp
The best gd sandwich you'll ever have. If you do not go to 7A when you are on the island, you are a fool. I've had every sandwich these sick geniuses have ever come up with, and they are all next level. I've seen the God among men Larry David himself come in here multiple times- we all know that man is particular about his sandwich creations. If these folks put stuff between bread good enough for LD, your mortal ass will sure as hell not be disappointed. Pro-tip: Get the cookies handmade with love by Ross the Boss.
google avatar

Ryan R.

Yelp
Jalapeño cheddar breakfast biscuits are delicious! They are a must try. Fresh baked cookies are also good
google avatar

Gene F.

Yelp
Continues to be a standout for the vineyard version of fast food. Fresh food local produce and unique pairings. Never disappointed

Yelp
7a Foods offers counter service for take-out food. However it's not ordinary take-out food. It's slightly upscale take-out food. There are no tables and chairs on the inside. Many customers sit on the two long benches on the outside to sip their coffee or eat their pastry. The menu contains many breakfast choices and lunch choices. During my visit there seemed to be a good mix of both tourists and locals. The center of West Tisbury is generally pretty quiet and 7a is really the only place to grab food. The doors close in the evenings.

jonathan w.

Yelp
Terrible service and the kids working here are extremely rude. They need an extra experienced manager to teach them some basic customer service.

Yelp
We were really excited to try 7aFoods when we went this morning since we've read about it in a couple places, but ended up underwhelmed. If you're going in winter, FYI, there's nowhere to sit indoors, which we wish we would have known. We got two coffees that were average and an egg sandwich with red onion, cheese, and spinach. There was too much spinach and too much onion (English muffin was good). One thing that we found tacky as all hell was their "special offer" of an upcharge to get their local egg on the sandwich for an extra $1. Like, just give people your superior than thou egg and increase the price of the sandwich--or don't offer it at all. Baked goods. Chocolate croissant was supermarket style. The blueberry muffin was OK. The espresso-chocolate chip scone was excellent and the best thing we had but did not taste like it had any espresso in it. Service was efficient but not particularly warm. Maybe we'll come again for lunch next time that we're on the Vineyard in the summer, but not this trip.

Sidne H.

Yelp
Been coming to 7A for 15+ plus years. Great food, but the service is god awful. Had to wait over 45 minutes for one sandwich and a scoop of chili. So sad its really gone down hill service wise.
google avatar

Madeline A.

Yelp
Good, large sandwiches, but very pricey for a sandwich shop. Some of the best cookies on the island - I recommend the chocolate chip cookie!
google avatar

Cynthia L.

Yelp
My three star rating has less to do with the food than the general experience of going to 7A. When it first opened, pre-pandemic, it was a hot spot - awesome sandwiches, you could get other picnic fixings in the building, good local stuff like mermaid farm yogurt parfait, etc. During Covid they did what everyone else did to survive - they minimized products inside the shop and focused on take out food. It just doesn't seem to have recovered itself from covid and become a welcoming shop again, and simultaneously it has become soooo popular that the wait times have become frustratingly long and lots of cranky people are hovering by the food window making the previously sweet outdoor waiting area kind of stressful. I know part of the issue is how hard it is to find employees right now. It's a bummer. Best to avoid in August. Also - they took our favorite sandwich off the menu! The Asparagus Blueberry Melt...

Yelp
OK Muffins and savory pastry could've been from a super-market. Utilitarian decor - closer to a neighborhood deli than a nice bakery. Nice service, though.

Rob M.

Yelp
Good sandwiched up island -- but service is rough -- very tough to get through -- ordered twice this trip -- 1st time they told me 20 minutes and when I showed up waited an add'l 40 minutes - don't mind if they are busy but have some sense of timing -- would have gladly showed up an hour later. Second time I received a Tuna Sandwich instead of Liz Lemon but only discovered after they were closed -- when I called next day to tell them there was no apology / no offer for credit -- just indifference. Quality sandwiches but in need of customer service

Konnor O.

Yelp
Bad location, dirty, mid food. Go somewhere else dunks is better. Anyways the cookies is the only good part.
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
Great sandwiches, great brunch spot. The pastrami/turkey sandwich is great. Excellent tuna melts. Hard to go wrong.
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
This is the only food option close to the bus stop in West Tisbury. There are no tables but there's a long bench outside where you can seat. They offer a good selection of sandwiches and other breakfast items. I got the pulled pork sandwich which is smoked pork butt with coleslaw and mayo on a brioche bun ($9.95+tax). The pork was tender but really bland, they have extra mayo in sachet that you can get so I just added more of that. I did like the bun though.
google avatar

Jason S.

Yelp
Still as good as ever. Breakfast and lunch sandwiches are delicious. Staff is consistently great and the owners are warm and welcoming.
google avatar

Pamela J.

Yelp
Yeah it's a little better than ok. I could walk here last year and did just about every day. Pastries are as big as your face. In the beginning that was exciting but then it faded. You don't really feel healthy doing that every day. You can find nice salads to go as well as vegetarian lunch items. The dry food area was sparse this year compared to last. Not sure if they are restocking or phasing out. Your only real stop on this stretch of road heading up island until you get to Chilmark's little store. There's generally a line.
google avatar

Yelp
I am so grateful for 7a! Lets dive right in: Best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. Ever. The biscuit is so buttery and perfect for the egg, homemade sausage, and I think there was some peppery lettuce red onion and provolone going on. I was in HEAVEN. Ate one two days in a row despite my best intentions of consuming fewer carbohydrates. Which brings me to the most delicious cinnamon muffin I've ever had. Heavy, nice sized muffins basically giving me an excuse to eat cake for breakfast, because if it's in a muffin shape it's ok for breakfast, right? I'm not even a must-have-pastry kind of gal but I am certain that these muffins right hurr are the very best baked goods on the island. Yeah I said it (looking at Rickards and Humphrys) - Dan and Noni Sauer have put a big smile on my up island face.
google avatar

Tom C.

Yelp
The Liz Lemon sandwich is the BEST. The sandwiches are probably the best on the island. Thats just my opinion though.
google avatar

Justin G.

Yelp
There is a reason this place has won best sandwich and best lunch on Martha's Vineyard for several years running! The tuna melt is absolutely on point -- the banana peppers are a perfect tangy and spicy touch, and the rye bread is fantastic. The vegetarian chili is savory, hearty, and delicious. They have a small selection of picnic items and drinks. There is a free public restroom across the street at the public library.
google avatar

Chad S.

Yelp
Liz Lemon is a very good sandwich. Location is somewhat inconvenient however. This is a nice spot on your way to Chilmark.
google avatar

AB H.

Yelp
We had a chicken salad sandwich and a pulled pork sandwich. Both came on a very good brioche bun. Both had good flavors - I loved the slaw on the pork and the greens on the chicken salad. But, the chicken was a bit dry. And there should have been a lot more slaw and a bit less pork in the pulled pork. Overall, these are solid sandwiches. So maybe next time I'd ask for extra greens on whatever meat sandwich I ordered. These sandwiches were good for a quick take out (we ordered ahead), but I wouldn't go out of my way for them.
google avatar

Kemi O.

Yelp
7a Foods makes the most amazing jalapeño cheddar biscuits! I was so excited to score the last 3 one morning. The biscuits are so soft with a perfect salty and hint of spice balance. If only I could have some sent to me for my Sunday morning breakfast... For my late day snack, I went back and enjoyed some more goodies! I had molasses ginger cookies, which tastes DELICIOUS! Then I coupled it with 7a Foods salted caramel ice cream, yum! I love the fact that their food is made fresh daily, which gives it that homemade from grandma taste, sprinkled with a touch of love. RECOMMENDATION: Come early (when they open) to ensure you get what you want for breakfast. They ran out of jalapeño biscuits by 8:30a!
google avatar

Yelp
Still have memories of this space's longtime incarnation as "Back Alley's" - too bad they couldn't have kept the name in action - but I've grown to appreciate 7a as sort of a late convert over the last couple of years. My go-to item for awhile was their egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, cooked on an exceptionally fresh biscuit - possibly the best on the island! Just this week I branched out into their vegetarian lunch sandwich and was not disappointed, with a focaccia bread base about as fresh as it could be and tasty, generous helpings of the accompanying vegetables. This is not to forget that they offer a hearty selection of pre-packaged and some in-house prepared foods to the right of the waiting area for orders. Everything is in one line, so be prepared to wait and be rewarded if/when you do come in.
google avatar

Kate A.

Yelp
Wonderful baked goodies (try the brownies!), tasty ice cream and delicious salads, sandwiches. We ended up making a point of coming here each day of our trip for a leisurely morning coffee and sandwiches to take to the beach for lunch. They get very busy but the staff kept a great upbeat attitude no matter how particular or bossy any particular customer got (and there was a fair amount of that, being that it's the summer season in the MV). They use Stumptown Coffee too -- highest quality and one of our favorites. Loved the general store feeling, benches outside on a little lawn to sit and enjoy.
google avatar

Grant C.

Yelp
This place is great. Delicious sandwiches, good coffee, and a hip little market. The Liz Lemon tastes like a sandwich you'd find at a New York City deli, but better. I didn't get a chance to pick up a bag of beans, but this joint is selling some really legit coffee - a local Chilmark brand (cool!) and Stumptown. This is one of the better food/market destinations in this part of the island. Oh! The baked goods are also dank AF. The chocolate chip cookie was outta this world chewy gooey crunchy goodness. Some folks here are complaining about the seating/vibe of the market, but honestly they were probably expecting something different. Swing by for a sandwich and an iced coffee on your way down to the beach and stock up on some goodies for your Menemsha sunset picnic later on.

Brian W.

Yelp
Had an awesome breakfast sandwich here on a biscuit. Alleys is still closed but this place will hook you up if you need food in this part of town.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
Meatball grinder. So so so good. The Liz lemon, so so so good. Great homemade foods with friendly staff and a beautiful storefront.
google avatar

Carl W.

Yelp
Probably the best breakfast sandwiches on the island. Cocoa hazelnut coffee... try it, too good. Liz Lemon for lunch!
google avatar

Zach A.

Yelp
7a is a solid lunch option when you are "up island" or around West Tisbury. Know before you go that this place is counter service and you will be eating outside on a bench (no tables). But if you like that more casual atmosphere food, then you will love the food. Our kids rated their grilled cheese sandwich a 9 out of 10 and the chicken blt wrap was the best food I've had on the island. While you wait for your food to get ready, you can walk across the parking lot to explore the Chilmark General Store.
google avatar

Robbie O.

Yelp
In our book, this place has moved into the #1 spot for coffee/breakfast sandwiches/baked goods (highly recommend the coffee cake)-- we stopped almost every day during our 2-week stay. Solid options, good food, great service, and decent prices. Even when long, the line moves pretty quickly.
google avatar

Carina P.

Yelp
I loved my biscuit egg sandwich from 7a. Small local spot. I got my egg sandwich with biscuit, local egg and spinach and it was wonderful. I also bought a strawberry rhubarb pie from Pie Chicks which was amazing , both warmed up and cold.

Alissa S.

Yelp
We just experienced terrible service and a very rude employee when trying to order over the phone while standing outside the service window. When trying to place our order, a women came to the window and said "cant you see we're busy?" We hung up on our order and left. We won't be going back.

Anthony R.

Yelp
I am pining for 7A for next summer. The sandwiches are incredible: The breakfast sandwich is by far the best I have ever had, with their biscuit of the day, and local egg is phenomenal. It really does taste materially better with the local egg, having tried one without one day when they were out. The Liz Lemon lunch sandwich is perhaps the best lunch sandwich that I have ever had with incredibly fresh and flavorful ingredients the likes of which I have never experienced anywhere else. Just writing this is making me long for summer, and these phenomenal flavors, and textures again.
google avatar

Jill S.

Yelp
TIP: CALL IN YOUR ORDER!!! You won't have time to really ask a lot of q's by the time you get to the front of the line that is practically out the door. And then it's a 15min wait for your food. Nope, they didn't forget your order. Yes, they make everything to order, not set up in advance. And OMGOSH that kitchen must have been sweltering for those cooks. In the end, that Umami Tsunami sandwich was really worth the wait. But next time, I'm ordering it by phone for pick up!!

Lytie W.

Yelp
Love the Liz lemon sandwich ! It's a must have when in Chilmark! I do get an extra bag of chips because who can't have a little extra chip!
google avatar

Pamela T.

Yelp
I love this place. The sandwiches are the best on the island. We went twice this trip and sampled most of the sandwiches. These are not deli sandwiches everything is cooked not just sliced up. Ice cream is good and there is a great little farmers market over to the side. There is not formal seating but the benches make for a fun place to meet people and enjoy the outdoors.
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Yes - you do want your egg sandwich on a cheddar jalapeño biscuit. And yes - you do want an iced coffee. And yes - you should sit on the bench outside to people watch folks going to Alley's and into 7a itself. I'm not sure if you want to buy any of the prepared foods but I'm very certain that you want the cheddar jalapeño biscuit. And if you have a friend then they want the house biscuit so you can do what friends do and share them both.
google avatar

Ann L.

Yelp
Was in MV for my brother's wedding last week. The Liz Lemon was literally one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Just ask my family, I wouldn't shut up about it for the 6 days I was there. I had 2 during our visit! Been obsessing about it ever since!! Would also love to know what brand of "Cheetos-like" cheese puffs you guys carry. I had a bag while I was there, and they were soooo good. All I remember is that they were organic. Would be cool if I could find them here in Iowa. Would also be cool if I could recreate that sandwich ;) but of course I can't. I'll just have to come visit again soon!
google avatar

Rick B.

Yelp
Nice breakfast on the go. Had egg and cheese biscuit and coffee. Benches out front to people watch. Cool spot - want to try lunch!
