I like the taste of the burgers here. The burgers look very greasy but they taste good and the burger is nice and meaty. The burgers are served in grease-laden waxed paper.
This style of cheeseburger is not for everyone. The grease gives the burger flavor, and the pickle and sauce is also good. It is served on what I think is a soft potato bun.
I guess this is what a "smash burger" is supposed to be. It is definitely a genre which takes inspiration from old fashioned diner burgers. The wait after ordering is usually about 5 to 10 minutes, not too bad.
My problem with this place is the "ambiance" (or lack of it). Every time I've come in they are blaring rap music at ear splitting volumes, and the lyrics to the songs they play are usually obscene. I am not a fan of loud music played in restaurants, and particularly not this kind of music.
There is no way I can eat here and enjoy my food, it has to be takeout. The noise is blasting and headache-inducing. I don't know who could enjoy eating in with this cacophony breaking your eardrums. A conversation while eating in is Impossible. Maybe I'm not the demographic they are aiming at. I'm astonished at the people who leave reviews here and claim to like this insanely loud music. I guess there is a new generation of morons who can "enjoy" this noise.
I also hate to say it but there is one employee at the cash register who has the most horrendous BO imaginable. If he is working there, I can't bear it. I have to wait outside for my food, at other times I've just walked out.
If you can deal with this unfortunate atmosphere, the double cheeseburger is very good, as is the Mexican Coke and the fries cooked in beef fat. (I think they are cooked in beef fat, not sure)
If you order a double cheeseburger ($10), fries ($4.50), and a Mexican Coke ($3.50), it will set you back about $20, which is on the high side for what you get. But I suppose this is a pretty average post-pandemic price for this neighborhood.
