"I remember that the last time there was a Black-owned supermarket in Detroit prior to this was Metro Foodland, which went out of business in 2014 on the city’s west side." - Serena Maria Daniels

Service was good they had plenty in stock and the customer service was good and the place was clean unlike some other stores

Cashier Natasha lacks any type of good customer service skills. Instead of ringing up my one item (after she had just serviced a customer) she sent text messages on her phone. Never greeting/acknowledging me. After sending her message(s) she scanned my item, told me my total and went back to messing with her phone. After I finished up on the pin pad, she gave me my receipt without saying another word. These little girls in here working with the public, with negative demeanors and lackluster attitudes need to go through some type of training to attain good customer service skills, or actually go to college so that they won’t have to work somewhere they clearly don’t want to. WILL NOT return to this store. TOO MANY other places have better selections and better CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Do not buy hamburger buns. Today this man was stacking bread and buns. He dropped a pack of buns and kicked the pack of buns down the aisle until he got to the bun section. He then picked the buns up and placed them on the shelf.

if you love Dr Pepper, here's really good news 😋 located right in the refrigerated cooler next to the register in a checkout lane & YES, ITS DELICIOUS! #WillGoBack #YouShouldToo

The cashiers are all rude. They talk about the customer's to the next customer. I greeted a cashier as she was checking me out She started talking in a. foreign language to the next cashier NEVER GREETED ME! TOO busy still talking about the previous customer Not the first time either

The staff are very nice here! The aisles are clean and organized. A bit more pricey for a lot of the items compared to Walmart or Meijer, but it’s really good if you need to get some quick shopping done. Usually you will find items on sale for a good price though, 100% worth it!

It's a very nice place to shop...I never had to wait longer than 3 minutes to check out. The only thing that could be approved is customer service. Greeting customers is very welcoming and makes you feel good about choosing this location over all others. Smiling faces and bubbly personalities are contagious. Don't nobody want to spend their hard earn money with companies that just hire anybody to run cashier without checking to see if their compassionate. Everyone like to feel as if their vip. That's my opinion!

Yelp

Yelp
I went into this store today like I do on a regular basis, but today was a disaster if I say so myself. I had already completed my shopping. As I approached the counter this one particular woman on the register rung up my merchandise, and as I put my credit card in machine, I explained to her the screen was BLACK, and I wasn't sure if she received my payment. She immediately became irritated, and disrespectful waving her hands at me pushing me verbally through the line. I explained to her that I was the customer and, if I asked a question, it was her job to answer it without all of the disrespect. I immediately spoke to the manager, which I feel was a waste of time, because it appeared she didn't care. It was my first and last time I will be going to this store and give my money to merchants who don't care about you as a customer let along if your experience in their store was a good one or not. The problem with this issue is that merchants don't realize the customers pay their bills. Without the customer she wouldn't have a job. I will be reporting the above statement to the BBB

Yelp
I give this local, neighborhood store five stars because I shop here regularly and the store is ALWAYS clean and odor-free which is a lost characteristic of many smaller stores. Prior to Covid they were always well stocked, and for the most part, continue to to be. If items are sold out, it's a logistics issue because everyone responsible for stocking shelves is busy doing that whenever I'm there. They have a decent wine selection and on occasion, some nicely priced organic produce selections. They carry Amish chicken, butter, and organic eggs at decent price points. This store is a lifesaver for me for those last minute things you realize you ran out of the morning of a family gathering or holiday.

Yelp
Stopped in the neighborhood store to get some bread, to find bare shelves, molded bread and very limited pricing on items or on shelves .

Yelp
I'm been coming here for years! Never had any trouble with the meat and no matter the holiday, the cashiers keep the line moving efficiently. The fruit is not always the best looking, but otherwise everything else is reasonably priced.

Yelp
I purchased some blueberries and raspberries today at this store and when I got home and opened them they both had mold all over them. The berries that had mold seemed to be under all the others so you could not see them unless you opened the container they came in. Last time shopping there. Please check your perishables before leaving the store.

Yelp
Ok, whenever I go to this store I feel like I'm in the hood. I don't know why but it is what it is. They have good deals and I'm a girl after a good deal. The attitudes of the employees are finicky that's what I don't like about shopping here. But, it quick and close. I recently thought to myself let me get a mega million ticket while I'm here. The lady at the lottery machine never acknowledged me and her coworkers felt a little awkward, so I walked away. I will never buy lottery here. If I wasn't doing a favor for someone I would have left not spend a dime of my money.

Yelp
On and off, I have visited 8 Mile Foodland for various reasons. Recently, I was out with my mother and one of her friends, and we found ourselves there one evening while gathering ingredients for her church dinner. Granted, I was just along for the ride, so I was not looking for anything in particular. However, I must say, I would be willing to return for my future grocery needs. One of the first things I noticed about this store is that it is very bright inside. It was dark and after 8pm outside, but it felt like I was in broad daylight in both the parking lot and the store. Second, for a store its size, they had one of the widest selections of produce I have seen in quite some time. This included some of the hugest yams I have seen in my life! Everything appeared rather fresh, as well. My major complaint with the store would, however, be its awkward layout. Like most grocery stores, there is only one way in and out, but it seems that the merchandise does not follow in the progression that it does at most other stores. For instance, soda and potato chips are toward the beginning of the store, not the end, and the bread sits in one of the middle aisles. The checkout area also seems as though it would get rather congested during busier times of the day, considering its layout and proximity to the aisles. Luckily, I was there during a time it was less busy. I would recommend this store to anyone in the area who is looking for groceries.

Yelp
Be sure to check your expiration dates. Quite a few times I noticed some of the items I purchased were expired. The lines move pretty quickly. Be sure to purchase your fruit and vegetables elsewhere. The fruit is "pre-packaged". I am not a fan of not being able to pick out my own fruit. Prices are nice and cheap.

Yelp
fast and easy shopping on eight mile road. they are a spartan location so you can be sure there are lots of sales. recently redone and well lighted. not my favorite but it will do in a pinch.
