The First-Ever 800 Degrees in Westwood Surprise Reopens Next Month - Eater LA

"The popular flash-fire pizza chain closed its original location last fall, but now franchisee Lenny Rosenberg (who also owns Marmalade Cafe in Santa Monica) is reopening the address on April 3. The returning 800 Degrees will carry the updated Wood-Fired Kitchen moniker now that the company is branching beyond pizzas, and is planning a 10% off all-day promotion on opening day to celebrate." - Farley Elliott

800 Degrees Closes First-Ever Location in Westwood - Eater LA

"When it first opened back in 2012, 800 Degrees Pizza brought Los Angeles a new kind of fast-casual Neapolitan pizza restaurant where pies would go into a woodfired oven for just a few minutes for around $7 to $8. Now the original Westwood location of 800 Degrees has closed after a six year run." - Matthew Kang

Google
Wowza! Such a blast of tastiness! Had the Margherita pizza with Artichokes and Pepperoni. Fresh and tasty! So many options here & prices are good. Laid back college area environment. Perfect for lunch!

Google
The pizza might have been terrific if the employee who took the order had been paying more attention to his customers and not so much to his personal phone. Despite requesting a BBQ chicken pizza without onions, an order he questioned and which was confirmed to him, it seemingly came with EXTRA onions. And it only came when we walked up and interrupted his texting. Nonetheless, a great tasting crust and nicely cooked pie was prepared. Just not at all what was ordered.

Google
Let me just say: YUM!! First restaurant itself is perfectly fitting of a beautiful East coast pizzeria second m, the pizza was fabulous and last but MOST CERTAINLY not least, the nutella calzone is one dessert I will go running back to. It is by far the most delicious little treat that even if your counting calories you will enjoy (still going running afterwards) but take a cheat day to enjoy it for sure.

Google
Hadn't gone in for so many years. What the heck was I waiting for??? Great place, super staff, food's fantastic, and price is right. Did I mention they are open really late!

Croydon D.

Google
Food was really good for the price and I like the make your own pizza concept. Food arrived very quickly too.

Peter T.

Google
Great Italian style pizza!! It is a pit pricier then pieology since you pay per topping instead of 1 set price, but the premium is well worth it!!

Google
Been using Doordash to get my pizza, and for the second time, they sent the wrong order. Verde pizzas. It’s just that simple! Where’s the verde people?

Jonathan B.

Google
Chris was amazing this was my first experience here and he made me feel welcome explained the pizza of the day by following the companies Instagram page. The pizza was great and fast service deff will recommend to others.

Yelp
Good pizza good service came in on Sunday and watch the game and had me some cold ones great place to come and eat and chill

Henali S.

Yelp
The pizza was amazing! I loved that you could visually see the pizzas by the slice and order via kiosk or at the register. The entire staff kept cleaning the place and making sure you were happy with your order. The music and ambiance was reminiscent of a 90s pizza party. The pizza it self was large but not too cheesy. It was the perfect balance. I would 100000% come back again!

Sage B.

Yelp
LOVE THIS PLACE!!! it's the best pizza ever. I always go here when i get sick of the ucla dining hall food, or when i get ant a special treat. service is always amazing!

Yelp
My new favorite pizza place in Westwood! Came here with a group of friends for lunch. It was my first time trying to place and I wasn't disappointed! Firstly, the restaurant is pretty spacious. Lots of seating and great for any amount of people you may come with. You are greeted by the friendliest staff who were great in explaining the options laid out on the menu and on the board. There's a good amount of pizza amounts. I ended up opting for the chicken Parmesan sandwich which was delicious. The portion size was filling and I was able to save the other half for later. One of my friends got the garlic knots which looked delicious and was huge! I definitely have to try them the next time I visit. I highly recommend!

Yelp
First time trying Danny Boy's and I had a great time. Solid pizza with plenty of seating and a great atmosphere. I was just at Flour Pizzeria down the street and tried "The Strach". The closest thing on the menu is the Margarita so, I got a slice of that to compare. There isn't as much of an emphasis on quality here, but the slice was $2 cheaper and still a serious slice. My one complaint at Flour was their red sauce. There wasn't enough flavor in it. Here at Danny Boy's, they've got their red sauce dialed in perfectly. It's bursting with flavor. Like I mentioned earlier, atmosphere inside is great. It well decorated and it seems like a lot of thought was put into the design elements so, I was surprised when my to go slice was in a brown paper bag. I purposely got my slice to go to see what they were bringing to the custom pizza box game. Unfortunately, it looks like you need to get a whole pie to see that. I'm excited to come back to Danny Boy's and explore more of their menu!

Yelp
Danny Boys is hands down one of the best pizza spots in Westwood. The crust is perfectly crisp on the outside yet soft and chewy on the inside--exactly how great pizza should be. The sauce is flavorful without being overpowering, and the cheese pulls are next-level. Every bite feels fresh, balanced, and satisfying. Beyond the pizza, the vibe is warm and welcoming, with a staff that makes you feel like family. It's the kind of place you can come to with friends for a casual night out or just grab a slice when you're craving something seriously good. We absolutely love it here and can't recommend it enough. Danny Boys delivers every single time--definitely a five-star favorite in Westwood!

Yelp
Sausage Pizza: 5/10 - very underwhelming - bad sausage, bad crunch, lacks flavor and freshness Margherita: 7.5/10 - best under carriage - good sauce - didn't seem fresh either though, carried by undercarriage and crunch Pepperoni: 7.2/10 -solid honey - great color and decent flavors - heavily lacked a good crunch Mozzarella sticks: 7.5/10 - great cheese pull - texture was okay - solid flavor All in all: - Seems inconsistent - Good sauce but crunch varies heavy from spice to spice - dude walked out of the stall and didn't wash his hands I think the restaurant's ambiance was really well designed and takes you back to a classic pizza joint. The service was great and the lady at the front was really nice; however, the guy walking out of the stall and not washing his hands grossed me out

Yelp
Danny Boy's is helping push back on the narrative that LA doesn't make good pizza. They offer an excellent NY-style slice (I love the mushroom), and have expanded into other items as well. In particular, on this visit I got the pepperoni Sicilian ($6) and the chicken Parmesan sandwich ($14). I really enjoyed the Sicilian slice - it was packed with cheese, sauce, and pepperoni - the undercarriage was especially impressive. It was browned and crunchy, supporting the mass of toppings well. The sandwich was tasty, but nothing to write home about. Breaded chicken, mozzarella, and tomato sauce are going to be delicious, and it was, but that was about it. I would stick to the pizzas, to state the obvious. Though I do plan to try one of their giant cookies next time!

Yelp
One of my all time fave NY slices!! I bring all my friends here because I'm like no you guys have to try this pizza!! Everyone agrees so far! I've only tried the pizza and Italian cold cut sandwich here. The salads look delish and are huge. Will try one of those soon! Ordering is easy with the two touch screen kiosks by the door. I love that they have hot honey as one of the condiments on the condiment table with the cheese, peppers, and oregano. Seriously try the hot honey on any slice and it elevates the flavor so much! Plenty of seating indoors and some outdoors too. I love the giant pizza slices on the ceiling. I never noticed before but they have merch and it's cute! Another cool thing about this place is the collabs and limited edition items/combinations they have! Food is a creative outlet and I love seeing people have fun with food and constantly creating new versions.

Yelp
Best pizza in Westwood! Came during lunchtime and got a couple of slices. Loved the sauce on the margherita, which had a very thin crust - just enough to hold the ingredients. Also got a slice of meatball ricotta, which was heartier. I should have ordered some ranch to dip my slices and missed out on the thick slices (I've heard they're even better!). Lots of seating available, both indoor and outside. I wish I still lived in Westwood so I could make Danny Boy a regular thing. Two-hour free parking at the Broxton Garage before 5pm.
google avatar

Beatriz M.

Yelp
Danny Boys blew me away! The pizza was perfectly cooked with amazing flavor, but the standout for me was the meatball and ricotta, it tasted like a slice of lasagna on a pizza. So rich, so comforting, and absolutely delicious. The setup is clean and welcoming, and the prices are super reasonable. Affordable for families or anyone just craving great pizza without breaking the bank. What really made the experience special was the owner. He was incredibly down to earth and genuinely took the time to sit and chat with us. You can tell he's passionate about what he does, and it shows in every bite. Cam in the front was also so great! Super sweet and fun! He's a keeper! Wishing him continued success he's serving up one of the best pies around!

Yelp
Very good pizza. Good quality ingredients. Consistent quality. Good for delivery. Have not been there in person. NY style pizza.

Gage G.

Yelp
Best pizza in Westwood! No soggy slices here. Also pretty cool ambience with neon-style pizza slice lights.

Yelp
Stopped by during the crazy hustle and bustle of my day since I was in the area. I hadn't had breakfast or lunch so I was starving! I had Danny Boy's on my hit list for a while and I was excited to finally try it out. I started off with their yummy garlic knots. The pepperoni pizza had a little kick to it and it was pretty good. The White Shroom pizza sounded appealing, but unfortunately lacked the flavor I was hoping. I had to tip it in the marinara sauce from the garlic knots to give it more of a taste. However the crust was perfectly crispy!!! Perfection. I met the owner Dan, who was really cool (see attached photo!) and I hope his business will flourish! Definitely try their pomegranate lemonade. It was very tasty and tangy!

Vacheh S.

Yelp
Love Danny Boy's. Their pizza can't be beat. All the employees are inviting and nice. If you eat it, you'll love the look and feel of their dining area.
google avatar

Dana M.

Yelp
The pizza is soooo good especially the white shroom! The slices are pretty big and very filling. The garlic knots are definitely a hit as well. Friendly service, great music and a causal ambiance. This place is located in Westwood village so parking can be tough depending on the time of day (Street/meter parking). There's a few parking lots around but it will be a little walk.
google avatar

Lilia P.

Yelp
Danny Boy's Pizza has a wonderful atmosphere. Very inviting and great food. Good prices. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Mai N.

Yelp
Disclaimer - I'm not a pizza lover, my guess is that the pizza under carriage/crust was cooked inconsistently so it affected how we enjoyed each slice. Order: * Margherita Slice ~ best under carriage (out of all the pizzas we got), good flavor, good crunch!! * Meatball Slice ~ lacks crunch, meat was mid, overall kinda soggy * Pepperoni Pie (with Basil) ~ great color, lacks crunch * Mozz Sticks (5) ~ cheesyyy pull, solid flavor Service was chill but my friend observed a staff walking out of the bathroom without washing his hands (pretty NYC of him LOL). Decorations were pretty cool, gave off an authentic Italian NYC vibe :)
google avatar

Alyssa H.

Yelp
A win is a win. I really enjoy Danny Boy's Pizzas with a preference for entire pies over individual slices. Slices seem to be inconsistent in temperature. I've ordered whole pies and slices for both dine in and to go options. The whole pies are wonderful every time. The pizza, itself, is a New York style pizza with a thin crust. The BBQ chicken and margarita pizzas are STAND OUT! So tasty. The service is quick and friendly. The restaurant is well kept, clean, and fun. Highly recommended checking this place out if you're on the Westside. Although I must admit Secret Pizza is still my personal favorite.

Yelp
My friends and I were craving pizza the other night, and decided to try this newer place in Westwood :) It's towards the south side of Westwood, in a cute little shop. I think the interior was really cool, especially the pizza lights they have hanging on the ceiling. I ordered the Sicilian pizza slice, with extra crisp and corner piece. MMM they did get the crisp part perfectly well - it was so yummy. The bottom of the pizza helped add a crunch in every bite. You can also get crisp on the pepperoni, adding more flavor to the pizza overall. The proportions were pretty solid. Did not really interact with the service, but it was fine. We watched a UCLA basketball game while waiting for our pizzas :)

Yelp
Hands-down, the best New York pizza in LA. I've tried them all the crust at this place is something magical. Always consistently good I come in with my family at least once or twice a month.
google avatar

Yelp
Pizza's amazing! Love the cookies! Great selection! Great cookies! Chocolate chip! I like them all
google avatar

Belinda C.

Yelp
New York style pizza is legit! Super thin crust, large slices, delicious all around. Order by the slice or a whole pizza, plus they have vegan and gluten-free options. As good as the food is, the 5 stars is for their generosity during this chaotic week with the LA fires. The Danny Boy's team has been active on IG, responding to calls from the community to feed firefighters, shelters, and volunteers. I don't even know how many pizzas they've donated, but I personally picked up 15 pizzas from them for the shelter at the Westwood Rec Center. Amazing response!! There are angels here. Thank you for supporting the community! This space used to be an 800 Degrees Pizza back in the day, and the layout is mostly the same. Tables and counter seats, very clean. Parking can be tough in Westwood, but there are metered spots and nearby parking lots (like the Broxton lot). Highly recommend!! Support local businesses!

Yelp
Growing up in the 'Wood I had always relied upon Lamonica's and Numero Uno for pies. Both establishments received many, many dollars of mine throughout the years. Today, my go-to in the 'Wood is Danny Boy's... reminds me so much of slices in NYC. Their sauce is perfectly seasoned and doesn't upset my middle aged tummy as much as so many other pie joints around Westside! Their sausage pie with fresh basil is to die for. Much Aloha, Danny Boy's!
google avatar

Chris K.

Yelp
First time visiting. Standard pepperoni and cheese pizza. I walked in and picked up. The service was pretty quick. Only tough part would be that parking might be kinda hard on a busy day. I'd come back to try the Sicilian pepperoni!
google avatar

Kelvin P.

Yelp
First time here, walked in and ordered some wings and 2 heroes to go. The service was great. The wings were awesome, the flavor on the heroes was good but the bread was very burnt, to the point where it was rock hard. Had to eat the meatballs and chicken parm without the bread.
google avatar

Ann L.

Yelp
Solid pizza spot with great salad. Ordered takeout from this place and overall, it was a pretty safe bet for a casual pizza night. The slices are huge, which is always a plus, and the flavor was generally good. The cupped pepperoni was a little on the greasy side, and the white pizza could've used a bit more seasoning--it was a bit bland for my taste. Since we ordered it to go, the pizza was slightly cold by the time it was delivered but still enjoyable. Surprisingly, the standout was the Greek salad--fresh, crisp, and perfectly portioned for two people. I'd definitely order that again.

Audrey P.

Yelp
I LOOOVE DANNY BOYS!!!! great atmosphere and nicest people. bomb food ALWAYS

Yelp
Great pizza, easy ordering and pickup, and friendly staff. The flavor was a hit among my friends!

Yelp
Amazing pizza and service and the cookies are fantastic! Can't say enough good things, location is hot too!

Yelp
Fantastic new-ish NY pizza spot in Westwood Village! I saw their sandwich board signs outside and decided to stop in. The dining room is clean and gorgeous, definitely an inviting hangout spot where you could spend some time. They sell pizza by the slice, and I was pleasantly surprised that they had several slice options, not just the basic cheese and pepperoni choices. The slices were very wide and big (close to true NY style), and the crust was spot on for flavor and texture. I feel like my go-to NY pizza spot Lamonica's has gone downhill lately so I'm happy that Danny Boy's opened. What really sets this place apart though is the service. The worker at the front was incredibly nice and offered me ranch dressing that they make from scratch. He seemed genuinely happy to be there and to help me out as a first-timer. Go Danny Boy's!

Alex P.

Yelp
Sizable slices of pizza, tasty cookies, and a great location (in the old 800 Degrees spot)!
google avatar

Radhika S.

Yelp
Cool atmosphere, really like the cat neon sign in the front. yummy pizza, I recommend the mushroom pizza. Showered with receipts and kindness and good humor. Also love the music #shaday
google avatar

Yelp
In crust we trust! Consistently excellent pizza and service. The crust never goes to waste here. Make sure to try the homemade ranch , it's to die for.
google avatar

Sebastian S.

Yelp
Great sevice and ambience, and they sell slices! Really close to Hammer Museum. Street parking only far as I can tell, but lots of meters around.

Michael C.

Yelp
Parking: Street or garage nearby Inside: Wanted to get a few slices. Was slightly confused when I walked in. A sign up front at the cashier tells you to order there. But the pies/slices in the counter are in the back. So if you don't know what your choices are, walk to the pizza counter in the back and then walk back to the front to order. The service is friendly. It's a big space. Lots of tables/seats. Music is loud, playing Pink Floyd, then some artists the kids are into these days, then an oldie from my youth, Green Day. I felt like tossing aside my walker and jumping into a mosh pit. Pizza: Got two cheese slices. Came out piping hot. First test... the old new york fold. First slice, the undercarriage was hard as a rock and was cracking into pieces when I folded it. The crust should have a nice chew to it and this had none. I also look to see how prominent the sauce is. I couldn't really taste the sauce. The second slice was more foldable. Inconsistent from slice to slice. Not a bad slice. I would give it another chance in the future. But there's other pizzerias in LA I'll go to before here.

Steven M.

Yelp
Love this place. Very consistent and the employee are super cool. Highly recommend. I wish they were open a little later !!

Ahk T.

Yelp
If you're looking for halal pepperoni pizza come here! Great taste and 100% beef pepperoni

Hannah T.

Yelp
Best pizza in LA! Also make sure to try their buffalo wings, really tasty! Staff is super polite also

Yelp
I love their cheese pizza. Sooo yummy! The house salad is $7, just wow! Great experience, every time!

Yelp
This place is down the street from me and I had been meaning to try it out since they opened. I tried the meatball pizza slice, the chicken Parmesan sandwich, and a ceasar salad. The pizza was pretty good, but not the best pizza I've ever had, but worth it. The chicken parm sandwich however was absolutely fantastic. The Cesar salad comes in a to go box with a small side of dressing, which is not nearly enough to dress the salad , which leaves the salad very dry and uneventful. The place itself is pretty nice and very clean. They play good music. I would suggest they dim the lights a bit, to make the vibe a bit more cool, so it goes with music and interior design of the place. The main reason I took off a star (besides the dry salad) was the service. You order at the register before sitting down and then pick up your food from the counter top. So although you don't interact much, the one interaction I had was so unnecessarily rude and left a bad taste in my mouth. I didn't realize that I had to grab the ceasar salad from a container in the fridge, and had sat down and started eating the pizza and sandwich, when I realized I forgot the salad. I went up to the counter and politely asked about how I get my salad, the employee kind of snapped at me and annoyed that I was even bothering him with this question. His attitude was very unnecessary.

Yelp
I'm so glad Danny Boy's opened up a location in Westwood--their DTLA location has been my usual go-to spot when visiting the LA Phil / Broad for years now, and they are a welcome addition to the UCLA-area. They do some great classic no frills NY-style pizza, and I particularly like getting their Pepperoni slice or their Chicken Parm sandwich. One of these days I'm hoping to try their Eggplant Parm too. Service is pretty quick, and there is ample seating too whether you are there solo or in a small group. Definitely go support Danny Boy's!
google avatar

Rashmi V.

Yelp
Great vibe, great location and good pizza. We came here on a Sat night and got a large half pepperoni and half cheese pizza with a salad and garlic knots. Definitely skip the garlic knots they were not good at all and they definitely lacked flavor. They have plenty of seating nice big place, pizza was good but the pepperoni was just too greasy and oily for my taste. Danny himself was kind enough to come up to us and ask us how everything was going. Overall solid 4 stars. I wasn't a fan of the paper plates. The crust and pizza was good. I would come back for sure!
google avatar

Samantha T.

Yelp
Got a slide to go and it was delicious! Will definitely be back. One slice is huge and very filling 10/10

Nai H.

Yelp
My new favorite pizza shop to grab a slice. Legit the pepperoni tates like an authentic NY slice. Many other yummy options here n the menu from tasty appetizers, fresh and delicious salads, heros, beer and wine, plus many other non alcoholic beverages options. The restaurant is super clean, the staff are warm and welcoming; Shout out to Cam! Also don't skip the cookies! SO YUMMY!
google avatar

Yelp
I wish I had Danny Boys when I was here at UCLA! I love their plain cheese slice, extra extra crispy. There is something magical about this particular location, with the neon pizza slices floating above you as you eat. There is plenty of seating and it is clean and straightforward - order and find a table. The service is prompt and pleasant, an everyone working here is wonderful!
google avatar

Lily L.

Yelp
Got the sicilian square and the mushroom white pizza. Super nice that you can customize your pizza (cold, warm, extra crispy, corner piece, etc.) Servings were massive! Inside was also very quaint and super cute! Not the best pizza I've ever had, but great value.
google avatar

Yelp
I have tried many pizza's but this one is the Best pizza in town. I would definitely eat it again.

Yelp
Was recommended by banker. Spacious clean. Nice staff! And coloring for kids! Neighborhod gem!
