I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while. Finally stopped in today and let me tell you, this place is a 20/10. I got the teriyaki steak mini meal and my wife got the pork mini meal. This is the best Hawaiian I’ve ever had here in Utah. What a pleasant surprise. The steak was so good. The pork was the best pork I’ve ever had in my life. So juicy, tender, & full of flavor. They are also my new fav for their Mac salad. Like everything made my taste buds smile with delight! To top it all off, the owner was so friendly and down to earth. She made us feel so welcome. The service and food was outstanding. We will be back again soon. Such a great experience. If you’re thinking about checking this place out, don’t think about it.. just go eat here. You will not regret it!! Thank you for the great food and service 808 Hawaiian Eatery. ☺️

Google
Maybe I hit this place on the wrong day. I've been meaning to try it for years and finally went for lunch with a friend. Got take out and ate it outdoors at the table area that's set up at Costa Vida next door. You can eat in too. They have tables and some booths too. I call it the 801 Hawaiian Eatery but it's actually the 808 (someone explain). You'll find it in a small strip mall across from the Walmart Neighborhood Grocery Store on highway 89. There's a Jimmy John's next door and Costa Vida on the other side. We got a plate with 2 meats - we picked the Island Kalbi Ribs and Katsu. The ribs were pretty good. The Katsu was greasy and the chicken was ok - but it did make me miss Mo Bettah Steak's version which is leaner and better quality chicken. We also tried the ahi tuna soyu which is raw tuna over rice with seasonings. It comes in a bowl with a clear lid which is easy to grab/go. The tuna was good but the whole dish lacked flavor. There's a spicier version but it has mayo in it - a pass for me. Same with the macaroni salad and the rice - ok but not great. I'm not an island girl, I've only been to Hawaii once, and I'm not huge on macaroni salad anyway. So I'm biased there. Their sauces are how I like them - not overly thick or sweet. There was enough left overs to for a snack the next day. They have spam sushi (not sure the official name) that I'm curious about but didn't try yet.

Google
Clean, cheap, and delicious! I loved the kalua pork. The Mac salad was not quite as flavorful, but alright. They have lots of authentic options and a fun atmosphere.

Google
This was my first time ever having Hawaiian style food. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The sauce was a little too sweet for my liking, but the pasta salad was a great palate cleanser.

Google
I ordered the spicy poke bowl. I thought it was fresh and delicious. The musubi was as expected. Over all I would order again. I did think $20 was on the high end but acceptable, it is sushi grade ahi! I would have loved the green onion to be cut a little smaller and a little more sea weed salad. I don't think I would make a special trip, but I would stop if I'm around again.

Google
They used to be good place to go. I ordered teriyaki beef and they didn’t have so changed to teriyaki chicken in one of the plate meal. But it didn’t come at all came half empty box.. and Kalbi came like pic with fat and super little portion.. am I just getting a taste of Kalbi?? Not as a meal? Compare to other Hawaiian food places, I’ve been gone. The WORST!

ALE

Google
Delicious!!! This place is extraordinary, tender chicken that melted in your mouth. Tasty ribs. Great sides, rice and macaroni salad. Congratulations for the great service and flavor.

Google
Katsu & Mac salad was good. Teriyaki Chicken looked really bad like it was old and boiled ,took one bite of the Teriyaki chicken and tossed it in the trash. It was our 1st time eating here, pretty disappointed.

Yelp
Was craving Hawaiian food so we placed a pick up order online on Friday night and rushed over there. It's a small place down in South Ogden but as soon as I saw they offered poke, I knew we had to try it. We ordered 2 spam musubis, a poke bowl with spicy and shoyu ahi, and a pick two box with chicken katsu and kalua pork. - The musubis were just okay like some of the other reviews stated. They had a lot of rice and I'm sure if we ordered them fresh as dine in, the seaweed wouldn't have been soggy. - The poke was great! I'm so glad to have found a local place with fresh and tasty poke offerings since my favorite place is down in Lehi. Highly recommend! - The pick two box was also great but we both preferred the kalua pork over the katsu chicken. Overall, a very nice place for Hawaiian food, and for a great price!

Yelp
Very disappointing. I gave them 1 star because it's bad enough that the food was blah, but it was NOTHING like the "owners pictures" or any other actual Hawaiian meal I've ever had (I've actually lived there but don't hold mainland "Hawaiian" to that standard... just want it to be good). The Kalbi (Korean short ribs) in all the photos and marketing look delicious! What I actually got was thin, over cooked slices of dry flavorless beef with no sauce and no rib bones!!! Couldn't believe it after looking online at this place. The poke was meh... obviously pre frozen cheap ahi (I get it- land locked state, but still). The chicken was not grilled or even seared, looked like they had boiled it in a stovetop pot. Mac salad was undercooked and underwhelming. All in all bummer. Won't be back. Please at least update your pictures so people aren't so disappointed when the food isn't even close to "as advertised".

Christopher Y.

Yelp
This place was great. But it appears to be out of business, signage was taken down and restaurant cleared out

Yelp
I do all I can to support all the local "Hawaiian" places. I use the term Hawaiian loosely because most are Filipino/Asian owned and don't serve Hawaiian food, but local style food (mostly BBQ) instead. So I'll give it an extra star for props for local people owning businesses. I read the reviews raving about the poke bowls here. So you know I HAD to stop here. We made the 30 minute drive here & we got overly excited for some local food. So we ordered 2 poke bowls to eat there. Then, we ordered a kalua pig plate and loco moco to go for dinner that night. And well..... the worst poke bowl I have ever had. The poke itself was okay. Except, some pieces were a little stringy and fishier tasting than others. Not a good sign. But, what made it bad was the MUSHY luke warm rice they put it on. I mean, it's rice. Can you really mess it up? YES YOU CAN. My husband and I couldn't even finish the food we ordered because the rice was so hard to swallow. Just thinking about it makes me nauseous still.

Yelp
Wow! Just wow, I should have tipped better. Give Cornel a raise because he has great manners and customer service! I will come back on my lunch breaks and tell my friends about this place. They really go above and beyond. He made me feel like I was welcome and at home. What a great place. I beg you to go here!
google avatar

Sarah D.

Yelp
Sorry to say; chicken was mediocre, mac was a let down, and poke was inedible. Would not recommend. $40 in the garbage.
google avatar

Brittney M.

Yelp
When you find out it's going to be 100+ degrees this weekend, you make plans to get the pineapple boat. If you've never had li hing mui powder it's like a sweet candy like powder that Hawaiians like to sprinkle over stuff... Because it's freaking delicious! Oh man, every time I see this pic I CRAVE pineapple. Someone hide my phone. The owner of 808 Island Eatery is super nice too. The staff make you feel like you're really in Hawaii. #alohaspirit I don't know where else you can get a sweet treat like this but I'm definitely going to be back... With friends

Yelp
I love this type of food so I was excited to see this close to my office. I have always eaten at MoBettah's when I'm craving this food so I was excited to try a new place and compare. I love that they have more on their menu. I want to go back and try more things. They have Loco Moco which I love so that's next on my list. 808 has way more options which is awesome! And they have Spam! I'm sold. I picked this up to go one day and was so excited to eat it! I ordered the same thing I always get from the other place. Chicken Katsu with rice and the macaroni salad. I loved the chicken! It was so good and I wasn't nervous about eating it. It was all white meat and I never got a gristle. You know it's always kind of scary to bite into a piece of meat because you don't know what you're going to get in that bite. That didn't happen with any of the chicken I had. It was fresh, juicy yet crispy and so good. Beats Mo'Bettah's for sure on the chicken. The rice was the same as any other place but I do prefer the sauce at Mo'Bettah's better. 808 had a few varieties which got me excited but I liked the other stuff better. I preferred 808's macaroni salad. All in all, the meal was delicious and my mouth waters every time I drive by. I'll for sure be visiting again soon!

Yelp
Katsu is a hit and miss, poke as well. Musubi is delish other than that, overall par for the course. A bit pricey for what it is.

Yelp
If you asked me, just one week ago, where to get hot malasadas after a bowl of saimin, I'd have said, "buddy, you gotta drive to Vegas, or fly to the islands for that." All of that was remedied this week, when I went to 808 Hawaiian in Ogden. This is, without doubt, the most authentic Hawaiian joint I've been to in Utah. A few years ago, a friend from the islands suggested we go, and it took us a while, but now that I've been, I'm hooked. Compared to other restaurants I've been to, the flavors here are more mild, but I like that, especially in the case of macaroni salad and marinated dishes. I'm a huge fan of the musubi, and am looking forward to a special they have called "Musubi Monday." How adorable! Also looking forward to trying the selection of chocolate macadamia they have. So if you're craving malasadas, head on over, just off of 89. So excited this place is in O Town!

Yelp
We stumbled on this place when we were originally planning on going to Costa Vida next door but saw it was too busy. Lucky for us, we love Hawaii food and 808 was right next door! The service was great and friendly. We asked a few questions about the menu and staff was more than willing to help! I thought the food was really yummy, but didn't blow me away. It was very comforting though and hit the spot. Their spam musubi fell apart a bit while I was eating it but tasted delicious! Overall we had a really good experience.

Joshua D.

Yelp
I always come here and get the poke bowl and a spam musubi. It's usually delicious but today my poke bowl came with about 8 small pieces of tuna and my spam musubi was all rice and a sliver of spam. Not too happy about it at all..
google avatar

Chelsey C.

Yelp
Okay, it's officially confirmed, 808 Hawaiian Eatery has THE BEST POKE IN UTAH!!! I have gone to all the poke places in Utah now, and I can safely say 808 is the best by far. Their shoyu poke is so fresh, and I love the garlic on top with the sauce. I have been back 3 times since visiting a few weeks ago. The 45 minute drive is definitely worth it once you taste the delicious poke!!
google avatar

Didi R.

Yelp
Hawaiian food is becoming quite popular but Ogden is late on the bandwagon. Thankfully we have one in South Ogden that serves the staples. You have to try a lunch plate of Katsu Chicken! We also ordered Spicy Tuna Poke which was 4/10 on the flavor level. Spam Musubi is good. Maybe I should try the lau lau. Maybe they'll earn 4 stars.

Chloe L.

Yelp
The casher was nice! However.. quality of the food is not great. Chicken's not bbq-ed.. it tastes like the chicken was boiled and just soaked in teriyaki sauce. Won't come back
google avatar

Christine C.

Yelp
Awesome, delicious, pretty true to island style. Meats & sauces were good. Macaroni salad & other starches were a little bland. We'll for sure eat there again!
google avatar

Steph C.

Yelp
Ate here for the first time and it was ok. I had the shoyu poke bowl and it was way too salty. The loco moco on the other hand was delicious, but the sunny side up eggs weren't cooked the way my husband likes. Customer service was good.
google avatar

Jayme B.

Yelp
Sorry, but Mo's is better. I picked up from here today because we were parked just down at the Washington Heights church watching the air show. I ordered two mixed plates (2 choices of meat each). One of them, I asked for kalbi beef short ribs and Kalua pork. I was only given one of them, and I'm not even completely sure what it was. It definitely wasn't pork. It might have been the ribs, but if it was it was cut really thin. It tasted good and was tender, I'm just not really sure what it was. It also had ribbons of fat going down either side of each piece of meat. Not enough to make it inedible, but still hard to eat without a knife and I ended up just eating it with my hands. The mac salad was dry and bland. The rice was dry, and I was not offered any extra sauce (I also didn't ask). I want to like this place because it has things Mo's doesn't have, like poke, loco Moco, and pineapple boats with li hing mui. But every time I get food from here I always feel like I should have gone to Mo's.
google avatar

Jeff M.

Yelp
The quality and taste of the food seems to be going down hill unfortunately. Last two times I have come the chicken and pork were lacking flavor and I found bones and nearly cracked my tooth. I hate leaving poor reviews, but something needs to improve. The first time I ate here it was delicious.
google avatar

Walter C.

Yelp
Noticed this place before, never gave it much thought since Hawaiian places are starting to pop up like weeds around here. Don't get me wrong, love it. Being an old kanaka it does my heart good that home is coming near me. But, people, come on. How about some laulau's? Poi?! I know it still exists, I have to mail order it now days. Or even the huge sin, how about some Portuguese Blood Sausage? Any way.... This place is small, decent and the food isn't bad. I only tried the Kalua Pork plate lunch. Could use a little more smoke to flavor it. The Macaroni Salad was passable, I prefer more mayo in it. But over all the meal is passable and with time this place could become better.
google avatar

Tatiana G.

Yelp
808 has delicious food and they serve you a lot of food. I can usually get two meals out of one plate from 808. They are fast and friendly and were my go to while in college down the road!
google avatar

Jimmyboi P.

Yelp
I was craving for Loco Moco and the GF mentioned she wanted short ribs. So I went out and got us our cravings from here. Service was fast and quick. I had to take it to-go cause the GF stayed back at the hotel. I asked the Cashier once the food was finished, could I take a pic of it before she bagged our plates up. She let me do it for the Yelp. Lol. The gravy on the Loco Moco was savory. The dish is just so comforting. The short ribs wasn't too bad as well. A lot of flavor in them. The ONLY down fall about the dishes was the Macaroni Salad.. something was missing from it. It was just bland to me. My girlfriend said the same thing and had to add salt to it. Other than that.. I got my Hawaiian food fix.
google avatar

JaydeJaleh F.

Yelp
Love the spicy tuna poké and the kalua pork is delicious. Worth the drive from Layton honestly.
google avatar

Jonnie A.

Yelp
This place has potential. Today was the grand opening, so there are some kinks to work out. In my opinion, they weren't expecting so many people to show up. The restaurant was chaotic. There's a line to order food, then you backtrack to the cashier to tell them what you order and pay. The place would benefit from a simple sign that reads "Order here and then pay here". Customers just milled around, not sure where to go. (Another suggestion would be to have customers pay up front and then tell the guy taking the orders what they ordered.) Poor Josh (I think that's his name.) They have him taking orders and retrieving food 20 minutes after it was ordered. It wasn't his fault. I hope people take their hangry frustrations out on him. The food isn't all that exciting. I ordered a Teriyaki burger. It came out with just the burger and bun...which I waited 20 minutes for.
google avatar

Mikako D.

Yelp
Great taste, proper price and awesome service. They still need to work some exercises to grow their business because they opened this place couple months ago. Like, they are getting some new menu since they opened. May be, someday they sell Poke and Lomi salmon... that's my wish :) I had Korean Short Ribs, and it was great! Meat is so tender and their original sauce is so good! I definitely will be back!!
google avatar

Alejandro E.

Yelp
I came here last week and came here again this week and that should end my review. No but seriously, we love right across the street and haven't been here and I seriously don't know why. They have a good variety including beef, chicken, and pork, but I come here for the poke bowls. Super authentic Hawaiian with not too much combined with it which I enjoy as equally as when you throw everything on there. Let me tell you though... They add so much tuna and I absolutely love it. I'm a protein head, and this is such a good thing for me. Not only do I love the taste and combination of what they do, but I thoroughly enjoy the portion. Better yet, is the customer service. A+++ customer service. Always coming back here.
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
The Kalua pork was wonderfully smokey. The poke bowl was great with good rice. Small location but good food.

Jessica V.

Yelp
Great customer service, so friendly! Our favorites are Kalua pork and cabbage and loco moco. Only negative is wait for food. Very slow sometimes. Have waited a half hour for two meals when not very busy. Also wish there was option instead of rice and Mac salad as sides. I know it's traditional, but so many carbs that a fresh green salad would be a nice option to freshen it up. Will definitely return though as it's s great place to mix it up in South Ogden. (: Just found out they do have a salad option! (: thanks for letting me know!
google avatar

Caitlin T.

Yelp
Really good food. Good quality food that is filling. Pretty good service. Affordable prices. Delicious dinner that fits meals for the whole family.
google avatar

Olivia T.

Yelp
DELICIOUS ! The katsu chicken was absolutely amazing. I was given way more than i expected as well. The staff was beyond friendly & our food came out at a fairly quick time. Very authentic

Jayden B.

Yelp
Really good bang for buck. The beef with fried eggs was so good. The front desk women was super helpful and cared about our experience. You won't get more meat for $15 in town.
google avatar

Liz R.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem in the South Ogden area. Both times I've been the staff was very knowledgable about the menu and were helpful. My kids can be picky eaters but they were happy with the small plate (or sharing a large plate) which offers white rice, Hawaiian style macaroni, and a choice of meat. (We chose Hawaiian BBQ) I ordered the poke and it tasted fresh and was well prepared. A small plate is $7 and is a good sized portion. The poke or a large plate are around $11 which is reasonable. They do take some time to get your order out which is my one complaint.
google avatar

L R.

Yelp
So sad! Born and raised on Oahu. Got the Portuguese sausage plate and couldn't even eat it. The sausage is not Hawaii style and I'm not sure where they got their mac salad recipe but it definitely does not taste like L&L or Zippys. The customer service was awesome, we talked story the whole time but I could not eat more than three bites of the plate.
google avatar

Moana W.

Yelp
Not authentic Hawaiian food. Great company, clean spot! However trying to bring island food to the mainland is hard and expensive.
google avatar

Alice E H.

Yelp
I got a poke bowl today. So much salt. I usually like it here. Yeah it's a little bit salty, but this time was over powering. I threw away most of it. The salt also felt like sand or small rocks in it. A little bit of salt goes a long way and I'll add more if I want.
google avatar

Patricia W.

Yelp
This has become my go-to comfort food spot in Ogden. I always order the poke bowl (limu style) and my husband always gets the kalua pork plate lunch (rice and mac salad) and it is always delicious. They have deals on different days of the week, and they also deliver (via grub hub). I also love their musubi (Musubi Monday's!). If you are looking for tasty Hawaiian food, or if you are new to Hawaiian food and are feeling adventurous, give 808 a shot.
google avatar

Farah S.

Yelp
Just got an order from DoorDash and it was AMAZING. I have food to feast on for several days. I can not recommend this restaurant enough, it's just ridiculously delicious! Thank you for sharing your recipes with us bumpkins here in Utah. Truly.
google avatar

Kenzie V.

Yelp
Tried this place for the first time! Ordered on grubhub and got a 3 meat plate! I tried the chicken katsu, Shortribs, and the beef teriyaki with a side of stick rice and macaroni salad! It's so much food that my daughter and I couldnt even finish it all! It was all so delicious too! My new favorite place for sure! Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Jennifer J.

Yelp
Hands down, the best island eatery in northern Utah. I ordered the ribs and the kalua pork, my niece had the katsu chicken. All meats were delicious! Tender, moist, robust flavors. And the mac salad was seasoned well, with not too much dressing. All in all, a wonderful experience. The staff were friendly and inviting, and the owner chatted with us a bit during lunch. Prices were absolutely reasonable, especially for such good food. Only problem was, they weren't very busy. Makes me nervous, because slow business means threat of closure. Support local businesses and give this eatery a try. I guarantee you will not leave disappointed. I'll be back next week!
google avatar

Terra C.

Yelp
Food was excellent. The kalua pork was my favorite. The mac salad reminded me of one I had in Oahu. The service was fast. The owner came and talked to me and my friend and she was so friendly and sweet! I'll be going back for su
google avatar

Alisa K.

Yelp
I had a great lunch here of a combo plate with Poke and Khalua Pork over rice. Mac salad and rice are great too. They do take some time to get your order out which is my one complaint. The owner is so sweet and brings such good energy to her restaurant.
google avatar

Whitney K.

Yelp
Ono food here! Reminds me of home!!! Love this place so much and they have such delicious food here!!!
google avatar

Garrett M.

Yelp
I heard about this place at school and I hoped it was like other Hawaiian places near by. When I walked in on a Friday night with my wife, there was one other guy there and it just felt dirty. We ordered hoping it would still be great, but the teriyaki sauce was watery and the poki bowl was over saturated with sauce. I just threw it away and I will not go back.
google avatar

Brandon C.

Yelp
This is my favorite spot to go to for grindz. The food is always cooked made to order, and always tender and hot. 808 has the most flavor compared to other island spots around. The katsu chicken, loco moco and kalbi ribs are my go to. The staff is always friendly and prompt. I highly recommend you visit.
google avatar

Lendon S.

Yelp
I've tried this place once before and was unimpressed. I decided to try again and as before it was very mediocre. Not bad, not great......just expensive. Next time I'll probably drive a little farther and go to mo Bettas.
google avatar

Taylor M.

Yelp
808 is the absolute best place to get Hawaiian food! Their food is great and a good price for the amount you get. The inside could be updated but they make up for that with their customer service! I have been in there multiple times and they have treated me like royalty every time! Twice they have come out with a free pineapple boat. Excellent service! I highly recommend 808!
google avatar

Ezra C.

Yelp
I introduced my wife to Hawai'ian Plate Lunch and she fell in love with this place! Best kalua pig I have ever had! The people that work there are always very friendly. Try to get there on Friday so you can get some delicious poke! A visit wouldn't be complete if you didn't get half a pineapple with li hing mui powder sprinkled on it! I wish this place wasn't so close to my house... I am going to go broke! ;)
google avatar

Dan H.

Yelp
I had a great lunch here of a combo plate with Poke and Khalua Pork over rice. I'm not sure of the provenance of the tuna but it seemed fresh and tasted good. I was starving so I wolfed it down and decided mid-meal that I'd for sure be coming back for the same thing and to try their other offerings. It's a little on the spendy side so that would be a drawback. Good selection of drinks, nice people!

Estrella M.

Yelp
Heaven. Second time we have gotten food there in one week. Tastes just like food we have had in Maui. I have three picky kids and they were fighting over the loco moco. Do yourself a favor and try this place. Update: food not consistent. The first time we went was amazing. The subsequent visits resulted in not great poke and overall the food quality was greatly decreased. I'm pretty bummed.
