We spent a long weekend in Deal for my mum’s birthday and ate at 81 Beach St both nights. We’d originally booked another restaurant for our second night, but we had such a lovely meal here on the Friday that we had to return again on the Saturday. The food and service were excellent on both occasions. My food highlights were the scallops starter and chicken supreme, which I had on night one, but the mussels and sorbets were also very good. The only slight disappointment was the burger, which I found a little dry, but I’ve definitely had worse burgers. For the overall quality of the food, we felt the restaurant offered very good value for money. Highly recommended.

After reading reviews of this place, I really wanted to try it and I was not disappointed! We had a sharing breadboard, focaccia and sourdough with homemade hummus which was really tasty. I had juicy chicken supreme with pearl barley mushroom risotto, absolutely the tastiest I've ever had, and my wife had Miso aubergine steak with Pak choi and caramelised carrot and ginger puree, very, very tasty (she doesn't normally go for Pak choi but she loved it) Of course, we just HAD to try the triple cooked chips, and as another reviewer mentioned, they were the best chips I've had in years, reminded me of the proper chunky chips I had as a kid from the Chinese shop in the 70's! A glass of prosecco and a beer from a Deal brewery called sprattwaffler, the bill came to a very reasonable £66. Would definitely recommend 😎

Romantic setting, quiet atmosphere, with lovely food and they didn’t mind changing up the dish for there amazing chips, super fresh, great staff and nice wine. The creme brûlée I wished was warmer on top and the sour dough bread is a must to try.

A lovely little restaurant on the seafront in Deal. All the dishes we had were very tasty and of high quality. The service was ok, the staff could have been a little more engaging with their customers. Overall if you want a nice meal in a nice setting with great views I would recommend you give this a try. A place I would happily return to.

One of the best restaurants we tried in Deal. Food was exceptional, service very good, and a great atmosphere. The staff were willing to adjust the meals, to suit dietary requirements without a problem. Prices are very reasonable, and there are some good beers available.

We went to this lovely restaurant by the sea front in Deal to celebrate my birthday. When booking we requested for a table by the window and it was reserved for us. Which was wonderful! As the view of the sea and the pier lights reflecting on the water is enchanting ! The staff ,Conor and Esme were very pleasant, attentive and helpful.Loved the cocktails Conor put together for us! We had the rump steak and the catch of the day. Which was very good . Only issue was that for accompaniments we requested for new potatoes which were not great, the potatoes were just boiled and put on the plate without any butter or parsley which was a shame. We voiced our displeasure to Conor who was apologetic and said he Will inform the chef. However, We had a lovely relaxing evening at 81 . We are local and will definitely return.

Yelp
Enjoyed our lunch with good food and pleasant friendly service, just a stone's throw from Deals pebbly beach!

Yelp
Don't ask me why but I've had an yearning to visit Deal in Kent for sometime now, so my wife, as a surprise, booked us in for lunch at this restaurant to create the need to visit Deal. From the outside, the restaurant's name doesn't leap out at you, but the access is down the side of the building off Market Street, where you find a small door that again fails to indicate where it leads to and appears to be a front door to an upstairs flat. On entering, the decor is quite plain, almost bland, but it is what one would expect to see from an establishment located overlooking a coastal area and appears to reflect its external weather beaten look. however, the seating is quite comfortable and reasonably roomy, especially for someone as tall as I am. The lunch menu keeps to a small but interesting choice and I understand that it changes on a daily/regular basis, based on the seasons and availability of fresh ingredients. On our visit we chose the lightly curried cauliflower soup, followed by gammon steak, eggs and proper big chips, slow cooked beef (Leg) with bubble & squeak and savoy cabbage, for dessert I opted for their adaptation of tiramisu. we couldn't find fault with the food at all, not that we were looking for it. There statement on their website is: 'Fine food without the fuss' and this does seem to sum them up, no hustle and bustle, no in your face "is everything okay sir" approach, but they are attentive when you need them. Pretty good value to 3 courses for £15.50 plus drinks, well worth a visit if you find your self in Deal. NB: I still don't know why I wanted to go to Deal!

Yelp
5 for lunch. Acceptable wine list with familiar 'names' which may well be better than expected, drank Ca. Chardonnay and was pleased. Good Menu choice. Carefully prepared food. High quality. Over generous however, so go VERY hungry. Very much enjoyed all 3 courses. Very reasonable prices if you are careful with the wine. Service friendly and fun, décor relaxing. Will go again.

Yelp
On a quiet off season evening in Deal, this place was a little hive of buzzy activity and culinary excellence. Successfully experimenting with unconventional flavour combinations, the food was memorably delicious. The ice cream selection dessert came in six mini cones, causing much excitement.

Yelp
Very nice atmosphere sitting right on the coast. Nice view of the beach and a relaxing feel. Love the fish here, very well done. Very pleasant culinary experience!

Yelp
This restaurant is slowly building up a reputation, as it provides excellent value lunch menus as well as evening menus. It is ideally sited on the coast, with views over the pebbly beach. It is small and unpretentious, and the food is traditional, classic cuisine, with lots of fresh seafood, and fish. The food is unfussy, which matches the simple, but neat and classic interior. The walls are hung with paintings by local artists that are for sale. A fine dining experience.

Yelp
Had three nice meals here. Though we bought our children I felt they didn't really want them there. The food was nice. Their Sunday lunches are probably the best in Deal at present. The service can sometimes be a bit rude, if they are busy it shows, it depends! I also did my Christmas lunch here. Again, if you get staff on an off day the service deteriorates a bit, but all round good consistent place to eat!
