"Bochi, a Kansas City transplant, has begun serving boneless stuffed chicken wings at the SE 82nd food cart pod, smothered in sauces like ancho BBQ, gochujang, and garlic fish sauce. The cart saves its bones and cartilage for stock and tacos, which it serves alongside rice bowls and popcorn chicken. Inspired by Taiwanese rice-stuffed wings, Bochi wings are de-boned and often stuffed with rice. The Oh My Gyoza wings are a sort of meat-dumpling, with pork and veggies filling a de-boned chicken wing, covered in soy sesame sauce. Not all wings are stuffed, however: The crispy and smokey unboned are simply served with gochujang or ancho BBQ, respectively. In addition to the wings, the restaurant serves a variety of tacos, from loaded enoki and oyster mushroom to bulgogi with slaw and pickled onions." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Yelp
Still love this food truck. Enjoyed a meal today with my hubby and brought home a dozen (xL) handmade corn tortillas for the weekend for only $6.. The food is always delicious and service is great too. It's a causal ambiance, outdoors with covering. There is indoor seating available as well ask the cart for the code or eat at the bar. If you haven't had Salvadoran food, I definitely recommend you give them a try. Everything is made to order so it does take a little longer, but it's well worth it.

Yelp
Ask around for the best Pupuseria in Portland and it's almost a certainty this place enters the conversation. The two ladies were sweet. Both the ample sized pork and cheese (rice flour) and spinach and cheese were excellent! They were relatively easy to cut with a plastic knife. The red sauce was a little weak, but it's probably true to tradition. The menu is vast, some elaborate dishes are much more expensive. But the papusas are still a deal, especially considering you get a hefty bag of cabbage. The lines can form quickly so visit accordingly. I'd rank them above Chepes, another popular spot.

S C.

Yelp
Nice size papusas. Good amount of the cabbage and carrot but pay extra. Nice variety of toppings.

Wendy V.

Yelp
The food is authentic. Great portions, there's not a thing on the menu I wouldn't recommend. We do takeout 99% of the time and the service is amazing. They always get it right.

Ellie G.

Yelp
This is the only places my entire family will eat pupusas from. The staff are all amazing. Food is delicious. We have been coming here forever. Always a good experience. They have a large variety of different Salvadorian food. Highly highly recommended

Alondra H.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place by accident and it is absolutely delicious! Every single time I go the food is hot and the people who run it are friendly ! I would definitely recommend if you like pupusas, You can add beans to any meat or call ahead. Pupusas are made my order so it normally takes about 10-15 minutes but worth the wait !

Yelp
I devoured the delicious papusas from La Miguelena this week while visiting Portland. This was our first time having papusas and it was a perfect spot to have our first ones. I ordered mushroom, spinach and pork, as well as some plantain. The biggest surprise for me was La Miguenla's delicious Curtido (fermented slaw) that accompanied the papusas. The Curtida was deliciously addictive and accompanied the papusa perfectly. If we lived in Portland, La Miguelena would be a regular stop.

Yelp
Ooh te quiero Migueleñaaaa. This is the pupuseria you didn't know you needed in Portland. Fresh and made to order, their pupusas are huge! Basically the size of the to-go box, and eating 2 of them filled me up. They come with curtido (Salvadoran cabbage slaw) and salsa roja (spicy!!). I got one chicken and cheese pupusa and mushroom and cheese. Both were packed with filling and came out piping hot and oh, so good. I also got a side of plantains, and they were sweet, not too oily, and had a generous portion. The ladies running the cart were extremely friendly and personable despite being insanely busy. Be prepared to wait around 30 minutes during peak hours as they are made to order, and there seemed to be only a couple of people working at a time. While Cartlandia may not be the nicest food cart place (overflowing trash, small parking lot, dirty tables), don't let that deter you from having some of the best pupusas in Portland! Next time, I'll probably get them to go instead.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Very authentic pupusas & not overly priced. The workers are so sweet & make sure your order is correct before you leave. The pupusas are great size with good amount of stuffing in them. So hard to find an authentic not overly priced pupusas restaurant in Portland but this is a gem.

Yoly B.

Yelp
Amazing Pupuseria!!! Lots of options, super nice and great service! The spice salsa is really spicy!!

Ericka Q.

Yelp
MUST TRY!! if you love fried plantain this place is a must...super sweet and just cooked to perfection. I also had the pupusas mixtas, they were delicious!

Susan L.

Yelp
Decided I wanted to try a pupusa out after perusing the selection at Cartlandia What I ate: - Zucchini and cheese pupusa: This was tasty. The cheese and zucchini had a nice balance. Really good with the cabbage slaw and hot sauce - Chicken tamale: This was unremarkable to me. On the bland side, helped out by the cabbage slaw and sauce. The banana leaf scent permeated the tamale Pros: - Price was right - Pupusas were good - Friendly No serious cons to think of. But just to warn you the SPICY sauce is REALLY spicy - hot without flavor if that makes much sense. The mild hot sauce isn't even really hot sauce but flavorful Would I come again? Since I'm not a local, no.

Richard W.

Yelp
So so good! Hand made to order deliciousness. Still great after years. Try this place. Love it!

Wendy H.

Yelp
Excellent service. I've ordered over the phone every other week for months now. Order is always ready, just make sure they repeat your order back to you. The food is phenomenal and they prices are fair considering the authentic taste.

Ilene B.

Yelp
I am always on the hunt for a good authentic Pupusa. Tried to get here a couple times and missed them. Was worth the wait. Great flavor, the Curtido was perfect, enjoyed the smaller cut and the spicy Salsa Roja was perfect spicy! Loved it all. Very nice to deal with too. A win win!

Carmen J.

Yelp
I used to like this place a lot- when I could afford it. The male owner humiliated me for not being able to afford a couple of pupusas served with a salad for the great value of $12.99 One large generous pupusa any other place is $2.50 or $3.00 each. He made understand why I think his food is expensive. He said I am too poor to afford the food he sells. Even if it's true; it's arrogant of him to pointed it out. Pointing it out humiliated me. Made me feel lower than dirt. He made me accept that I don't make enough income through my SSI to buy his food. How kind! I decided to buy Salvadorean food some place else. And also stop supporting their TPS cause for Permanent Residency. As long as you are nice and friendly towards me, you'll have my help. If you treat me bad, I will no longer support you. I understand you need to charge more because you like taking vacations. Steal from others. I am done with you.

Yelp
Where to start? This place is incredible! I've been looking for a place that has amazing pupusas ever since I moved to Portland. I lived in Honduras for over a year so I know what an authentic one should taste like and this place absolutely nails it. First time I went the line was crazy long but everyone was keeping 6 feet away and all of the owners and workers that were making food were wearing masks. I think they make all the pupusas from scratch made to order so you have to wait a little bit longer but it's totally worth it. I ordered the cheese pupusa with beans and cheese with mushrooms, both were insanely delicious. Their plantains are also fantastic! I cannot wait to go back now that I found a place that does authentic pupusas!

Julia D.

Yelp
Holy friggin' cow. Have you ever had grilled cheese? Like not a sandwich, but actual browned cheese on a grill? Well...it's mind-blowing. They put a big piece of it under my pupusas. I got the chicken and cheese pupusa plate with rice and beans on top. I want to say it was called the enfrijolada. I also got an extra pupusa because why not. Worth every cent. The hot sauce especially was amazing. I'm drooling right now just thinking about it. THEY MAKE THEM FRESH RIGHT THERE. Like dough stuffed with stuff and grilled and uggghhhhhHHH

luis u.

Yelp
The second best salvadorian food I've had in my life. I say second because it's up there next to my mom's home cooking. I had the pupusas, tamal de elote and a very hot cup of atol de elote that hit the spot and 2 ensaladas (salvadorian fruit drink and ALL OF IT was delicious. The service was amazing and super friendly and welcoming. Wish I had stopped here when I first got to Portland. I will be back to try the rest of the food. It definitely made up for the shitty time I had on my first trip to Portland ever.

Mark S.

Yelp
The pupusas are amazing, reasonably priced, and the service is always friendly. One of the best carts in Portland. The queso con loroco is classic and you have several killer options. Hand made to order its El Salvadorean food at its best. Enjoy

Cassandra C.

Yelp
On a day that was 65 and sunny but windy and cold in the shade, we took to the outdoors to celebrate winter being gone, hopefully. Pupusas were in order after our last feast in Los Angeles turning us into pupusa monsters. Minus one star for the long wait. We waited 30 min on a Sunday afternoon around 4pm. We stopped here after grocery shopping, thinking we'd get our food in 15 min or so. We had food in the car, it's a good thing nothing was going to melt. The guy was nice though, and it was pretty easy to tell where we were at in line, because people did seem to be served in order, something that doesn't always happen at food carts. He put up the closed sign while we were waiting so I think it was a particularly busy afternoon for this cart. I had the super green, which was avocado, lettuce, tomato and queso blanco/cotija/white creamy cheese or sour cream or all of the above. It was some dairy heaven. There were 2 red salsas out on the tables and both were good on the pupusas. I wonder if there's a green salsa he keeps squirreled away back in the cart? I would love some salsa verde on my pupusa next time. I sampled the steak fajitas one but found the steak too sweet, too barbequey for my taste. We shared a chicken pupusa the next day, cold from the fridge and it was delicious with some tortilla chips. The seasoning was good, not too sweet or spicy, not too creamy or bland. Very nice!

Yelp
I moved to portland a couple of years ago and have been looking for the best Salvadoran food and this might be it! Coming from a Salvadoreña, as soon as I walked up the smell reminded me of my country. Their tamal de elote is bomb.com, pupusas are thic and juicy end their sopa de res is delicious!! Their staff are so sweet, and the guy at the window always cracks me up. 10/10 recommend :)

Carolina M.

Yelp
I've never quite had a pupusa like the ones at Pupuseria La Miguelena. It's like I've been eating the mis-made ones when I first tried them nearly a decade ago. These were moist and really made you appreciate the time put into making them. I salivate at the thought about the spicy, vinegary slaw on the side that pairs well with the pupusa. There's nothing too salty about it and I honestly think this might be the best food truck at this pod. While it took a bit of time as these are made-to-order the guys at this truck were friendly and just seemed genuinely happy to serve us food. Now that I'm back home in Atlanta, I'll be searching for pupusas that this food truck has set the bar for.

Fiona L.

Yelp
So I was on a Pupusa chase in search of the best one and I may have found it. Cartlandia, you are the best! There's a reason for it being one of the few carts with 4.5 stars. Simply put, their pupusa is bomb, like mouthporn like. When the guy took my order, he said it would be about 15 minutes. 15 MINUTES?!?! Isn't that awfully a lil long to make just a pupusa? After having a jello shot at the bar, the 15 minutes was up but my pupusa still wasn't ready. I don't think I've had to wait so long for Salvadorian food before and this was a first. Finally after 25 minutes my pupusa is done. 1 Mushroom & Cheese 1 Spinach & Cheese The plate came out hooooot so at least it's super fresh. Taking my first bite, all I gotta say was, that wait was worth it. The cheese was amazing as it was super creamy and the fact it melted was perfect. The veggies on the side was great as it wasn't too sour. The hot sauce though made it all work together. It was good by itself, but the hot sauce combination was fire. Each pupusa was huge and you could tell was made with love. Pupuseria La Miguelena, you may have just ended my pupusa search. Bless your kind souls. :)

Maya K.

Yelp
Straight up AWESOME papusas. Fried plantains were great too. Friendly service. GO HERE!

Amber F.

Yelp
The bomb pupusas and super dope people. Frijoles y chicharrón all the way. No queso. That's my jam.

Mary Ann A.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and have the pork pupupusas and horchata. Salvadorian horchata is nutty and amazing, the pork is delicious, you'll probably want more than one order. I can't wait to go back again.

Loki H.

Yelp
Waited in line only to be told that they are only doing pupusas that day. No other items were available. How about you try and put up a sign that says that instead of wasting peoples time? Whatever, I won't be back. There are plenty of other pupusa places.

Breyana G.

Yelp
I want to preface by saying this has been my absolute favorite food cart for a long time. The food is incredible and the employees had always been kind. This morning after placing my order the woman working told me that they are cash only until their tablet arrives. I asked if they could continue to make the order and assured her that I would wait until the tablet arrives to pay with card and she told me no. Ended up purchasing food from another cart that was not cash only. Very disappointing experience that discourages me from coming back.

Yelp
I'm not exactly new to Portland. I've been here for two years but, to be fair, over a year of that time was during the pandemic. Needless to say, I've not expanded my knowledge of the city very much. I've lived in Denver, Central Coast California, and farmland Midwest. All of those places have very different but very authentic "Latin American" foods. Before today, I was starting to think that Portland had only a lackluster selection. After visiting this place today, I may need to rethink my assessment. I decided to order in person because you get a better sense of the menu when you're there in person. You also get the sense of how busy a place is (busy often means quality) and who is eating there. A majority of the customers were Latinx families with kids happily running all over the place. Everyone also seemed to really be enjoying their food. Anyways, I was there for papusas and I left with a bean and cheese, a chorizo, and a beef papusa, along with two chicken tamales. Everything was amazing, cheap, and way bigger than expected. I will be going back - and often. My only complaint is the area where I parked was a bit dodgy. Personally, I'm somewhat used to it but other people may be put off. Once inside Cartlandia, I was in heaven. I knew of the court but had never been. Now that I know...

Ricardo C.

Yelp
Twice I go to this place and see preferences in their customers the two times I have gone, I see that my order is not taken into account and those who arrive after me, already have their order ready

Ken W.

Yelp
The pupusas here are excellently crafted and delicious. I come here always expecting new and excited to try something different. On my most recent visit, I went with two pupusas. One was chicken and cheese, the other was pork beans and cheese. The pupusas also come with a spicy and tangy cabbage slaw. These deliciously stuffed pancake like patties come perfectly grilled with a gooey flavorful center. A definitely a must try spot at Cartlandia, and if I'm ever craving pupusas, I don't have any need to try another spot. Unless, of course...someone recommends me to.

Raquel S.

Yelp
Located inside Cartlandia (fun name) it's like a food truck park. We had pupusas they where bomb. I had the zucchini and cheese and a bean and cheese made with rice flour. Oh also the curtido (pickled cabbage) and tomato sauce where really good. I would definitely go back when visiting Oregon.

Kevin S.

Yelp
Some of the best pupusas I've ever had. Reasonably priced. Pictured below is their Super Chicken Pupusa which I believe was $7.

Mar C.

Yelp
Great pupusa experience! The proprietors were patient and answered all of my questions in a wonderful friendly way. I got 3 pupusas - mushroom, zucchini and chicken. After putting in my order, my friend saw the plantain empanadas and we added that to my order after they described how it's made and what the empanada word/term applies to. They also explained that the red sauce is NOT gluten free but they have a spicier hot sauce in the back that is. The pupusas came with a pretty standard curtido. The pupusas themselves were nice and hot and cheesy. Not oily at all. The plantain empanadas were not oily too. It was like deep fried plantain stuffed with Bavarian cream and rolled in sugar. So good! The fruitiness balanced well with the sweet. I will definitely be back to try their other dishes!

Wayne N.

Yelp
Best thing I ate in Portland on my recent trip. And my wife didn't even order the Pupusa -.-. What is darn amazing especially for the price is the fried yucca with the pork. Tender flavorful bombs of pork play second fiddle to the starchy puffy golden crisp not greasy yucca. It's like popping starchier tastier tater tots. Could eat that all day everyday. Owner is super nice and friendly too. Definitely one day need to come back and try the pupusa...and get another order of the yucca fries with the pork.

Autumn G.

Yelp
I came in on a rainy Monday around lunch time when about half of the other carts were closed. One of my main issues with the carts here is how inconsistent they are with their hours, so them remaining open even in the rain on a Monday is a big plus in my book! I got a pupusa and the horchata. I knew the horchata was different (peanuty) from reading other reviews, and while it was good I think I prefer more standard horchata. The pupusa (I got a simple bean and cheese filling) was really good! Not to mention that the service was also nice. The guy who was manning the cash register was really cordial without being overbearing, which is cool.

Emelyta R.

Yelp
Best pupusas I have eat in the Northwest area! Remind me of my grandma and my mom pupusas back home! Tip:I highly recommend rice pupusas instead of the traditional corn :)

Marc F.

Yelp
I don't like the way she's making you drool Migueleña pizza pocket voodoo Am I crazy, have I lost ya? Even though I'm carb loading too, can't help it I turn my meal music up And I'm puffing my chest I'm getting Salvadorian Can call me obsessed It's not your fault that they covet I mean no disrespect It's my right to wrap coleslaws I get Pupusas You're too tempting, flavorful Everybody wants a taste That's why (that's why) I get Pupusas Taking the onus from Nick Jonas

Aaron W.

Yelp
(It's Salvadoran, just didn't see that as a listed category) I was at the Cartlandia pod in the evening for a change, quite the rare sight. Yet, on that Sunday in May, many carts were still going strong. Pupusas sounded pretty darn good after driving for a few hundred miles in the Northwest. Zoyla, the woman that made pupusas at La Cocina de Chepe, opened this cart in April. I got a pupusa filled with beans, cheese, and pork ($2.50). It came with some type of pickled slaw (curtido?) and hot sauce on the side. When getting a takeout order, the slaw comes in a small Ziploc-like bag, while the hot sauce stays in a small container. Zoyla's pupusa mastery shines through, from the proper amounts of beans, cheese, and pork, to constructing the actual thick corn tortilla. The pupusa stayed on the flattop long enough so the exterior could gain some color. The pupusa, savory filling and all, came to me extremely fresh (still temperature-hot), so this panda smartened up for a change and used a fork. The bite of the pickled vegetables worked well with the pupusa. I inquired about the hot sauce, and they actually use Japanese peppers (for more heat) instead of Mexican chiles. I can still easily handle more heat, but this was quite good. There are still some menu items here that sound amazing, including empanadas and tamales. I'll have to return and try them out!

Roman S.

Yelp
it's always nice to try something different. i've ate a lot of food however, i tend not to eat mexican/latin american very often..blame taco bell.. so walking around i saw this place.. sounded interesting, something a bit different. i'm very glad i tried this place out. the pupusas are actually good sized.. 1 almost filled me up. 2 and i was full. it's very unique, filling and they honestly just taste great. can't really compare since this was my first time trying this but i was satisfied. these pupusas are very well priced.. $2.50 each. also, try the horchata.. it's really good.. it tastes different than most places but that's because it has a bit of cinnamon in it and it's delish.

Stephanie P.

Yelp
My fiancé took me to a Salvadorian place while I was visiting Oregon because I'm Salvadorian. The food was delicious I got pupusas de loroco con queso and revueltas he got 2 revueltas and I got an atole de Elote because it was cold out it's a food truck but the food was good it took a bit for food to come out only because there was a huge family ordering before us and they kept bugging the cooks other than that it was really good food.

Rowan K.

Yelp
Fabulous papussas, hidden gem amongst the food trucks. Ordered 4 different kinds of papussas and all of them tasty. Good plantains, and very fast service. New favorite spot in town.

Sandra S.

Yelp
I visited from Los Angeles and I was sooo happy to have found a Pupuseria and I GOOD ONE. Can't wait to go again. Delicious :)

Jackie M.

Yelp
Omg... was really craving a taste of home and this place hit the spot! Excellent Pupusas, and I loved my tamale as well! Will. E coming back many times!

Kelsey L.

Yelp
These papusas are so amazing! Definitely my favorite papusas in Portland. Great food and pretty cheap too. They have veggie and meat options for papusas and you can add toppings as well. The fried plantains are also delicious. I live on the west side and drive over here for Papusas. That's how good they are

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
So good. So good. So good. So good. So good. I could literally eat here every day. I just wish they weren't so far away from my house in Beaverton. An east side treat! Chicharron y queso (pork and cheese) or just queso (cheese) are my favorite. The staff have always been friendly and kind... and they remember you if you come back and have a welcoming smile. Just a wonderful place all around.

Izzy L.

Yelp
Best cart in the park. I'm not even a fan of Papusa's but they have other delicious things that they make very well. Its like eating at abuela's casa in San Salvador except I'm not Latin and I've have never been to San Salvador. But I imagine the food is as good as that. Also they are friendly to gringos who are branching out of chicken burrito mode, which is nice because a lot of ethnic places in Lents like to give you the stink eye - like that one weird old guy at Amigos Del Sol.

Brendix N.

Yelp
Love pupusas here! I'm salvadorean n just remembered my country... they are the best n Portland area...
