"85°C Bakery Café — occasionally referred to as the “Starbucks of Taiwan” — recently opened its latest Puget Sound-area location in Edmonds. Expect long lines for such delicacies as Japanese-style brioche, iced sea salt coffee, mango creme brulee, and salted butter bread. This is the chain’s fifth store in the area, joining other locations in the Chinatown-International District, Federal Way, Tukwila, and Lynnwood. Status: Certified open." - Megan Hill

Google
Their cakes and pastries are great. But I brought a mango cake and asked if it was baked on the day I purchased it, and they said yes, but when I got home, I noticed the mango was brown and soft inside. It didn't look nice at all, and because this store is so far from where I live, I couldn't return it

If you’re looking for a bakery that offers a delightful blend of savory and sweet, look no further than 85C degree. Originally from Taiwan, this bakery has quickly become my go-to spot for a quick treat and a cozy drink. Absolute favorite items here are Taro Puff Pastry, Spicy Sausage Danish, Boris Danish, Chocolate hazelnut muffin and Spinach Danish. Beyond their pastries, 85 C Bakery is well known for its boba tea and coffee. Whether you’re in the mood for a refreshing boba tea or a robust cup of sea salt coffee latte, they have you covered. In short, 85C is a gem that brings a taste of Taiwan to our neighborhood and I highly recommend giving it a try.

Google
My first time at this bakery ended up with several more items than I intended on buying just because it all looks so good! Upon getting home and trying them I don't regret my additional purchases. Everything is SUPER fresh flavors are good & ratios are spot on like the raisin milk buns. I have yet to try something I didn't like. Store is super clean inside and easy to find what you want or need. Staff is friendly as well.

Jewels Lutovsky

Google
I love the Taro lavender latte but with they had larger sizes. They have a pretty good selection of pastries, cakes, and other goodies. My only problem is that they put them in a bag all on top of each other so I get home and they are all squished and flat!

Brandy M

Google
First time stopping in and was pleasantly surprised by the options. They even had a hotdog! Opted for the bacon - super delicious. Nice space to chill and do some work if you’re in the area. Definitely will be back!

Google
Tables are not the cleanest, could use some wipe, I come often but the tables are always dirty. Also the music is so loud that it feels Iike I should just come party and dance here or they just want to annoy you so you are out of their shop

Dawn Orgill

Google
Bakery food looks good, but there's not enough seating to sit and enjoy it. The seating is wrapped up, and they would not allow us to unwrap and use these chairs. Very long wait for coffee as there is only one person making drinks.

Google
Always a fan of 85C! They have a good selection of fresh pastries, cakes and other baked items. I went here to pick up a birthday cake without pre-ordering and was so happy to see that they still had Mango Crème brûlée cake. I tried it for the first time and they did not disappoint ☺️ The Mango chunks on the top weren’t sweet but I wouldn’t complain because of how good the cake was.

Yelp
I like their drinks more than the pastries. Its also a nice place to sit in the morning and relax while drinking your coffee, or eating one of the many types of pastries (before noon for biggest selection).

Jonathan C.

Yelp
This is a typical 85c with a decent selection and fairly speedy lines. I like the new lemon cakes. Bread quality can be mixed. They burnt the most recent croquette batch and still put it on the shelves. Prices have gone up significantly with inflation. Parking is plentiful in the shared lot, and employees are just nice, but not cheerful. I miss locations that call out "fresh bread" with each new batch. The pandemic is over. Please stop wasting millions of plastic bags everyday.

Yelp
There are multiple 85C locations in the greater Seattle area, with two of them pretty close to each other in Edmonds and Lynnwood. This one is located on the Pacific Highway 99 next to Ranch 99 (or 99 Ranch, whichever way you like to say it). There are plenty of parking spots although most of them are on the smaller side. My favorite pastries from the bakery are the brioche and the egg tarts. My favorite drinks are the sea salt coffee and the taro lavender latte. Other drinks I like are the peach green tea and the Thai tea. We love coming here because every month they have discounts and deals on their mobile app for a rotating drink. Sometimes it's $2 off a drink and sometimes it's even 85 cents for a drink. No matter what it is, we try to go to see what new offerings they have and sometimes we end up loving them that we get them even when they're no longer discounted. I've been going to 85C for years and the quality's been the same no matter which one I go to.

Julie T.

Yelp
I really like their drinks, especially the sea salt caramel coffee. It has just the right amount of caffeine and boost I need without feeling jittery for the rest of the day. The staff is nice, but the drinks do come out slow. Patience is key and it's worth the wait in my opinion. The sea salt caramel is my go to coffee, if I can order it everyday I would. The restaurant is spacious and has a good amount of tables to sit. Parking is easy to find.

Yelp
To be fair, we arrived late on the day most of the pastry were sold out, so we didn't really get much, only 3 pieces. Staff were friendly though. So I recommend you to get here earlier on the day. I had the chocolate bun, it wasn't bad. The bun wasn't oily and the chocolate stuffing was sweet, a very average quick snack bun I'd say. My bf had the other two pastries, one of them was blueberry tard and both of us were not very fond of it as it was dry and tasted like undercooked. The other one (in the picture) was alright, soft and moist on the inside, but in general, nothing really special. 85C is a quite a popular bakery in China as they have so many unique and creative pastry and breads, and I loved to get one of those sliced bread with grilled cheese cabbage bacon and egg on it (凯撒大帝), it was one of their best seller. Since we were there soon before they closed so I wasn't sure if they have the same thing here.

Sue W.

Yelp
Needed a last minute bday cake and found a nice premade selection here. Pricing seemed fair for a fancy chocolate mousse bakery cake ($37). Good chocolate taste and definitely was a hit at the party!

Yelp
After adventuring to the 85°C Bakery Cafe in Federal Way on Friday 3 March 2023, I decided to check out a location closer to the house, this one in Edmonds, today, Sunday 12 March 2023. I arrived a few minutes before opening and it was fun to watch the store front lights turn on and the front doors unlocked. As soon as they unlocked the doors I was out of my car, though I was not fast enough to be the first one in, I had not been the only person waiting for the bakery cafe to open. Parking was abundant and the workers were tuned in to the customers. I went with three items for me and one for my mom: a blueberry tart (for my mom) and a coconut raisin tart, a milk pudding, and a red bean bread for me. The total was $8.50 with tax, I paid cash. All of the items were delicious and warm. Even the blueberry tart for my mom was still a little bit warm by the time I got it home to her after picking up some groceries. The coconut raisin tart was creamy and the coconut really shone in terms of flavor. The two bun items were light and fluffy with a good filling to bun ratio. The red bean filling was sweet and the milk pudding filling had a sharp bite, something I found I liked. My mom enjoyed her tart too, eating it in one go.

Yelp
Lovely pastries, boba isn't half bad either. Bottled drinks were kind of mediocre though. Keep your eye out on the fresh pastries that they bring out! The fresher, the better of course. Choco buns are some of my favorite dessert pastries. Lots of sweet pastries actually and all help curb cravings. Difficult to go through every pastry I've had so I'll leave it up to ya'll to explore and find out what you like. There's something for everyone. Boba here is chewy and sweet. Milk tea (non-bottled) is creamy with a decent taste of tea. I thought it was on the sweeter end. Great go-to spot for refreshments from milk tea to coffee. However, I've had the Frozen Marble Taro Smoothie once and I thought it was bad with an excessive powdery texture, so I'd skip that. Bottled milk tea is more milk than anything, so it's very light and lacks tea flavor. Nice to drink when you want some milk tea, but it doesn't satiate the craving completely. Definitely easy to make at home as well with basic milk and tea.

Rod F.

Yelp
Super nice, ultra modern space with a great selection of baked goods at really good prices and so many great tea options. I felt guilty going with a fav, Thai tea, when there were so many others. Next time and there will be a next time!

Tony J.

Yelp
The Edmonds location of this widespread Asian bakery-cafe chain. It's located in the same plaza as the 99 Ranch market. Not too busy in the afternoon after lunch hour on a Sunday. It looks big for a bakery from the outside, but half of the space inside is for the sitting area, so there is actually not that as much baked items as I was expecting. Pretty clean and spacious. There is still a pretty decent variety of buns, breads, cakes and such, with prices averaging about $2 per item. I picked up two of the potato croquettes, a taro pastry bun and chocolate chip bun. The croquette had little bit of crisp on the outside and the savory potato filling was pleasant. The taro bun was half way between a pastry and bun, which was an interesting texture. The chocolate chip bun was pretty big and had plenty of chocolate chips. Overall, for a quick bite of baked good it was a decent.

Yelp
I do not know what is going on with this store, but they are hardly ever open. 8 out or 10 times when we drove by, they were not open. We usually drove by in the afternoon. The Lynnwood location is much more reliable. I suggest calling them first before heading to this place. It's a nice size bakery, but the hours are strange. If 85 cooperate is reading this, I think this store needs help.

Felix J.

Yelp
Extremely delicious and cost effective! Staff are always kind and helpful. My only wish is that there was an option to leave them a tip.

Jared P.

Yelp
We like the Lynnwood location better but on our way to WinCo we love coming here. It's a big space so you can sit and eat a nice snack lunch with your kids. Lynnwood is always super crowded because it's near H-mart. Here is nice and mellow. I highly recommend the salted oolong tea (with foam). It is heavenly! I know it sounds weird...salt with tea? But yes with the foam it's a perfect balanced of flavors that's hard to describe but hard to forget too! Egg tarts are yummy too, a little pricey for the size but delicious. We always get Hawaiian chicken, chocolate chip bowl, basically almost everything is delicious. The downside is the calories - but there's no way around that - good food will be fattening;)

Yelp
TLDR: carbalicious! Asian-style fluffy pastries that won't give you instant diabetes! Bubble teas are great too! COVID19 Update: They only allow a certain number of people inside at once. Be prepared to wait outside during peak hours. Parking: shared lot, plenty of space. Menu: drinks and desserts are listed on the wall behind the cash registers. Pastries aren't listed on the menu but they are in the display cases with labels. Atmosphere: fast paced bakery. Wait times are much shorter than the Seattle-area 85C Bakeries. Small seating area but most people just grab and go. Service: - Pastry Shoppers: walk-in, grab a tray, tissue paper, tongs, and pick out all your pastries. Hop in line--sometimes you have an opportunity to bag each pastry with provided plastic bags while you wait but if you don't, the cashier will do so for you. If you're a carb addict like me and order a bunch of pastries at a time, they will be boxed for you. Remember, the fridge and freezer at home is your friend. ;) - Drinks and Cakes: get in line and order at the counter. If you are getting pastries, pick those up first. If you order a drink you will be given a number and then you will just wait off to the side for your order to be called for pick up. Pastries: the world is your oyster. I love them all. They are all not overwhelmingly sweet and are a great guilt-free snack compared to other pastries that seem like they will give you instant diabetes from all the custard, fillings and icing. Cakes: Oh my goodness will you look at that display case? I like all the desserts in there. Yes, they are as good as they look and are not overly sweet. They also take orders on whole cakes if you ever want to order for a party. Any and all the bubble teas are promising. Pick a flavor you like and it will not disappoint you in my honest opinion. Some places are hit or miss when it comes to flavors and consistency but 85C is pretty consistent.

Yelp
Gonna start by saying that this was our 3rd time coming here. The first time there was barely any bread out and when I went to pay and order my drinks they told me they couldn't make drinks. Not sure why they didn't put a sign up that said that before people wait in line or even walk in the door. I ended up just leaving without anything because we primarily wanted drinks. The second time they were closed due to snow but that day the snow was already mostly melted so that was weird too. Finally we came in again yesterday and the experience didn't make up the loss of the first 2 times. They again barely had bread options out. When I went to order drinks they're out of almost every single topping option. They also tell me they can't make lemonades which was one of the drinks I was trying to order. The girl making the drinks seemed annoyed the entire time. It took her so long to make the drinks and there wasn't any orders ahead of mine. I asked for a milk tea for one of them but she gave me regular tea. When I told her it was supposed to be a milk tea she seemed irritated and confused. I had to repeat myself and tell her that I wanted a milk tea because she just stood there staring at me. The guy who rang me up apologized and said it was his fault that he put it wrong or said it wrong but he actually took the right order because I do remember him repeating it back to me and saying the correct thing so it wasn't his fault. Him and the other employee who appeared to be their lead or manager or something were the only ones who made any positive impact to the experience as they were both very nice and provided great customer service. If it weren't for them I'd give it a 1 star or even 0 if I could. Both the drinks tasted extremely watered down and lacked flavor. The bread/pastries tasted old. They also need to do something about their straws. If they're gonna use paper straws they either need different lids that don't need to be punctured or give something else to poke the plastic with because the drinks spilled just from trying to poke through the plastic top. This was our first time getting stuff from this location and this will definitely be our last. I do not recommend coming here. Just go to any other bubble tea place in the area. There are several all around. This place is not it.

Sara V.

Yelp
Stopped in on a Friday afternoon- everything looks really clean, no line, no tables, I thought they might be closing shop at that time but no- they just aren't doing dine in right now. I got their Zebra Oolong bubble tea (great!) and a strawberry custard (ok!) and it was out very quick. Service was quiet, but speedy and polite.

Jabez L.

Yelp
The bread and pastries are decent, but the cakes are way too sweet and aren't that good. But it verbally, very good service and good bakery.

Christina J.

Yelp
They don't sell the rose milk tea, and they use paper straws that can't pierce the seal on the boba.

Marie B.

Yelp
Brief Yelp post. I was a fanatic and dropped a lot of green at the Lynnwood 85C Bakery Cafe site. Stopped by the ID site and immediately exited. Louise R of Yelp posted during the soft opening, so decided to start this sunny Saturday morning by checking out the newest site in Edmonds (5/11/19). Located in the same complex as Rite Aid and Ranch 99 Market. Calm on first visit. No nut jobs in the parking lot. No jostling in the retail space. Bright, airy interior. You can actual sit awhile without feeling stressed out, like writing this Yelp post. Such a contrast to the insanity I tolerated for over a year up in Lynnwood. If they strategized other locations, pick Shoreline or Seattle's University District. Until then, very pleased to visit a location closer to home.

Renee S.

Yelp
Really cool concept...grab a tray and proceed around to the cases of various baked treats, from savory to sweet. Everything is individually wrapped in singles. Variety is CRAZY. There's a lot of variety. I need to go again as it was just a quick visit.

Ciara L.

Yelp
I really enjoyed how spacious and full of light this location is. The selection is great; there are both savory and sweet options. The drinks are priced nicely. Area is very aesthetic and makes a nice cafe.

Ellie W.

Yelp
This 85 C Bakery is probably the one I visit most frequently as it's in the same block with 99 Ranch Market. Every time I shop at 99 Ranch Market, I will visit here. I am a bit surprised to see negative reviews about the customer services. So far, I only encountered one rude cashier who was a bit impatient; otherwise, generally most staff there was very friendly and patient with us. When I first signed up the reward from their app in the store, I still remember that cashier was so patient to explain me how the system worked. There was a line waiting behind me, but he didn't rush me at all, which I really appreciated. Generally, the selection at this bakery is more complete than the one in Bellevue; however, since COVID-19, it seems that they have reduced certain items, especially pork floss bread, my son's favorite. It also became challenging to find the items that we can use reward points to exchange for, which really disappoints me. The drink section is good. I love their Rose milk tea, with or without boba. I will still keep visiting this bakery. I just hope they can bring back the items they had before COVID-19.

Willie F.

Yelp
I don't go here as often as I do the Alderwood location but it's just as good. It's nothing fancy but when I get cravings for egg tarts, this is my go to place. They're so good and can microwave for 20 seconds or warm it up in the oven and so good! Their other items are pretty unique and there's different items for different tastes. Make sure to be ready for a carb overload!!

Nina H.

Yelp
This is my go-to bakery because I love their pineapple (bolo) and pork sung buns! Their boba is also cheaper than other spots. They have simple flavors so if you're not particular about your drink, then this is a great option. They're also quick but they do sell out by the late afternoon so recommend going earlier in the day to pick from a wider selection.

Louise R.

Yelp
Stopped by on April 26th (late post) during the soft opening. The store looked great, staff was friendly and there was a nice selection of baked goods. I am very happy to have this gem within walking distance from my place. Next review will have more photos and more details, happened to see the sign while driving by so it was a quick visit.

Michael W.

Yelp
A pretty nice 85 degrees Bakery with more seating area. But fewer choices of pastries and bread than the other 85 degrees Bakery in Seattle or those in California! The store is very quiet at the time when we're there. Only one customer in the store other than me and my friends. The self-service pastries and bread area are very clean. We're the only customers there! The pastries seem not as fresh as the other 85 degrees! The seating area looks very nice and also very clean with only one customer enjoying her drinks. The parking lot is very big and it shared with Ranch 99 Market and a Chinese restaurant. I have no problem found a parking space right in front of the store. The employees are friendly and non-stop looking for some works to do. Maybe just because of the time we're there at around noon time. I have never seen an 85 degrees Bakery Cafe as quiet as this one!

Mina H.

Yelp
I stoped by to grab my favorite almond chocolate croissants and cheesecake but I couldn't find them. There were almost empty around 5:30pm. So I got curry bun and potato croquets. I like a potato croquet but I don't like a curry bun.

Hayden L.

Yelp
Compared to the one in Lynnwood, the quality for the Edmonds one is drastically different. Selection is sparse, or maybe it's because I go there a bit later in the afternoon? Ambiance wise, it's similar to the one in Lynnwood, clean.

Luther S.

Yelp
Even though it's smaller than the Lynnwood location this 85C is much more enjoyable to visit! The employees here actually are kind and helpful..... I wish they were open Mondays and Tuesdays..... I refuse to return to Lynnwood, bc I'm just over the attitudes in that location!!

Jon O.

Yelp
This 85C location is much better than the Alderwood one. More space for you to walk around, more variety in each case, and quick check out. My favorites are the chocolate sponge roll and the mini lemon cakes. Wasn't a fan of the cinnamon roll, was a bit too dry. The cakes are a little expensive but I've enjoyed the tiramisu as well as the mango creme brulee. Had the passion fruit green tea for the first time, and I've had better. Was a little watered down and left a slightly bitter aftertaste.

Sara S.

Yelp
The staff was very helpful so full points there. However the bakery items were very limited. We ended up getting 3 cake slices.. all of them tasted horrible!

Cece C.

Yelp
First visit & we enjoyed everything. My favorite was the choco bun hands down. I will be back

Cindy L.

Yelp
This location feels more spacious and has more seating than the one in Lynnwood. I think the ceiling is also higher, creating a very loud atmosphere. The cake selection is definitely less and it feels like the bread selection is also less. I've come here for the garlic cheese bread twice and they looked different each time. Even today, the garlic cheese from the new batch was significantly larger (probably by 1.5 times) compared to the previous and was super oily. The boroh danish's crust was browner and harder than lynnwood's, so I didn't like that as much either. The bakery is probably still in the process of perfecting it. The milk tea had the expected good quality-classic cafe milk tea that isn't overwhelming while that highlighting the tea flavor. Tapioca was chewy and soft.

Ivy L.

Yelp
Hmmmmm can never get enough! So happy a 85 degrees opened in Edmonds! I've only been here on weekdays so I might be biased but this location is not as packed as the others (for now) which is really nice because the wait and the crowd are my least favorite parts about other locations. Any bread you try should be good! My favorites are the taro swirly round croissant looking bun and the matcha bun. The milk tea bun is really special too because on top of the milk tea custard, it has a tapioca flavoured/textured filling on the bottom. My favorite drink here is the sea salt black tea. Try it! All the cakes look BOMB too, can't wait to try them all :P Diabetes here I come.

Alison M.

Yelp
Came in here to dine in (which is allowed). I was ordering from the cashier and he wasn't very friendly. He just asks "that's all?", processes my order and leaves even after saying thank you. He finishes making the coffee while I was eating so I cover my mouth to be polite as I approach to get coffee but he rudely tells me to wear a mask. Clearly I was eating something and would take it off immediately. Anyway stay away from this guy

Carly C.

Yelp
I rate this spot highly because it's so very fresh. These pastries are really charming and very cute. I have been to their other location in Lynnwood and I would say that both of them uphold quite the reputation for themselves. I personally think that if there was one thing they had to work on, it would be the staff, because every time I go there, it seems like they have somebody new. And while it's not a lot of interaction that you get with the staff, they could be a tiny bit more friendly. What really matters though is the food, and they do that five stars! I would also say that the hours that this place is open, wins me over because it's nice to be able to go so late. The prices and portions for these pastries are great, the drinks here are mediocre I would advise spending your money on the pastries.

Alex N.

Yelp
Drink took about 5-10 minutes to make with barely nobody in line. Other than that it's nice how it's not usually crowded and parking is plentiful. Wish you can get different drinks for the BOGO free deal.

Wes D.

Yelp
Great selection of mostly Taiwanese sweet and savory pastries to go with espresso drinks as well as specialty tea drinks. There's a kiosk for placing orders if the line is too long. Handy bakery after the Thai place a few stores down.

Sidney P.

Yelp
This place is the BOMB! They sport a never-ending array of Asian pastries, all delicious and freshly baked. And, they serve up an impressive menu of Asian teas, coffees and bobas! I like this location MUCH better than the chain's Alderwood business - more spacious and considerably less crowded!!

Janel E.

Yelp
The treats are not too sweet and the custom made teas and coffee make a perfect pairing. Reasonable prices too. Would recommend.

Andre V.

Yelp
If I could do a half a star. I would. Here's the scenario, You enter the store shelves are empty.. I thinking its gonna close soon. Grab a few pastry's. Then I head to the counter to pick few slices of cake tisk tisk.. as I think out loud asking the guy about getting a cold beverage he shuts me down and tells me we are closing soon. Im like okay great. Then the other co worker, who was fixing a beverages for patrons as I was checking out. Hands the beverages to the patrons and turns to me and goes "Yea we close at six o'clock!" And then she turns around to shut down the beverage menu screen off on me lol..I looked down at my watch and the time said five o'clock on the dot. Then I swiped my credit card and the service guy goes "yea we had to shave some hours here and there." And the best thing about it. While, he's saying this to me. I seen about four workers on deck. And These lazy mooks can't fix me and My lady a two punk ass drinks. Y'all done lost weak ass sixteen dollars and customer. Will Not return to this store. No way....No How... Peace out

John P.

Yelp
I stopped by at 5:47 and the doors were locked as they were taking care of customers. They saw us but didn't respond when I pointed at my watch. Such an attitude, I will never visit this shoreline store again. Management should consider replacing them with better people.

Nivea 4.

Yelp
I wouldn't recommend this place. You'll never know what filling you'll get inside your pastry. My berry pastry turned out to be something else I don't know what, and this wasn't the first time. Seems like they stuff their pastries with whatever and put a label on it and sell it for a large price thinking you're paying for what you wanted. The straws for their boba drinks are horrible and paper doesn't usually cut through the plastic top. I have to keep getting a new straw, just so my paper straw can soak and get soggy in my drink. Save yourself the time and money and go somewhere else.

R Y.

Yelp
Omg don't bring kids or family here EXTREMELY RUDE!!! I came in with my Filipino family and was treated like complete crap especially by manager Andrea or something like that My sister in laws kid (4 year old)was losing her balance so she instinctively reached out with her hand to stop herself from busting her head wide open and accidentally grabbed one of those fabric people dividers they use to blue ck an area and Andrea yelled at her...like WTF??? AND THEN...When that same sis in law just asked a simple question could she take her 4 year old to bathroom...it should've been a simple yes or no...but not this grouchy non-customer oriented manager or whatever she is...she really LOUDLY says in a very rude and snotty voice "NO YOU MAY NOT! WHY ARE BUSINESSES ALLOWING EMPLOYEES TO TREAT CUSTOMERS THIS WAY????

Scarlett D.

Yelp
Walnut shell in walnut bread! It broke my son's gum, he cried so bad and the gum is bleeding.

Justin G.

Yelp
Hey hows it goin. Your paper straws don't puncture through drinks. I made a mess. The tasty drink made me forgive the mess. Thanks.

Mark N.

Yelp
Stopped by 85 c for some bread, pastries and bubble tea. I would say there gotta be a way fir the paper straws to penetrate that plastic cover cause it took so much force tgat it ripped that plastic and spilled some milk tea all over the place.

Same prices as the ones in the bay area. It's funny how non Asian's run the back bakery area.

Yelp
I love 85 degree bakery but the edmonds location isn't as good as the lynnwood branch. I have their app and half the drink menu is missing, especially promotions. And when they do have it, they sometimes don't accept the company promotion with the app. We talked to the manager Kiana, I think was her name, and she just shrugged, said there's nothing that they can do...hm, we drove 20 minutes to get here just to be dismissed when the coupon code couldn't scan properly. Business must be good enough during covid-19 to not care about your customers. It was an app / tech issue. The sales associate recognized the error and have seen the coupon before. But no one did anything to fix it. Not a fan.
