I'm not usually a fan of macarons, but they sure make great souvenirs to bring back home to the office! A friend recommended Pierre Herme, and Champs Elysee was the most convenient location for us. Entering the shop, it looked strange that they sell skincare right alongside their pastries, but as another review mentioned, the two compliment each other with their subtle, floral scents. The shop was buzzing with curious on-lookers, but they separate shoppers by having them come behind a queue barrier. I was pleasantly surprised by the cheeriness of the staff behind the counter, as they helped explain each and every macaron flavor in perfect English, packaging the macarons safely and securely in their colorful box, which comes with a brochure of all the flavors (with pictures!) so you don't have to remember which is which.
Overall, a pleasant experience: I was helped with all my needs from multiple friendly staff members.
On a side note, we also bought some macarons from McDonald's for a side-by-side comparison. Back home, I wouldn't have minded the McMacaron, but I can see now that it is absolute garbage in comparison to Pierre Herme. The McMacaron flavor seems artificial and far too overpowering, and texture was very chewy, while the PH macaron flavor was delicate with the light and crisp texture and extravagantly heavy, creamy filling.
