15 Places That Don't Need the Holidays to Twinkle and Sparkle

"Lucent, the mesmerizing sculpture hanging in the lobby of Chicago’s John Hancock Building, certainly lives up to its name. The title is derived from the Latin word “lucere,” meaning “to shine,” and the artwork’s 3,115 lights depict a scale map of the stars that shine in the night sky. The 13-foot artwork contains thousands of glass bulbs, all fed light through blue illuminating fiber-optic lines. The sculpture, created by English artist Wolfgang Buttress with the help of astrophysicist Dr. Daniel Bayliss, represents a 3D map of all the stars in the Northern Hemisphere that are able visible with the naked eye. All of the piece’s glass bulbs were hand blown by artists at a local glass studio. Each one of the more than 3,000 bulbs is amplified even more against a mirrored ceiling above and a reflecting pool below. The end result is a piece that seems to go on forever, light looping from sky to ground over and over again. The cosmic-inspired sculpture, Buttress told Chicago Magazine, aims to expresses “the idea of looking up and sensing wonder.”" - ATLAS_OBSCURA

Great skyline views! Loved the views of the city and the lake. Elevator ride up is quick too. Also, the best observation tower to get pics of the Sears Tower in the skyline. We went on a Sunday morning in the height of summer and there was no wait.

360 CHICAGO offers breathtaking views of the city skyline, Lake Michigan, and even neighboring states on clear days. Located on the 94th floor of the former John Hancock Center, it’s a must-do for visitors wanting a bird’s-eye view of Chicago. The TILT experience adds an extra thrill, tilting you outward over the city—fun for adrenaline seekers! The observation deck is modern and has a bar, making it a great spot to relax and take in the scenery. It’s a bit pricey, especially if you add TILT, but the views are totally worth it—especially at sunset. Pro tip: visit on a weekday or earlier in the day to avoid crowds.

Visited 360 platform and Tilt. Reached the final level you can have a 360 degrees view around the city which is quite amazing. The cloudbar provides overpriced drinks and cocktails. We also did the TILT experience but I have to admit it’s not worth the money. So save the money for other stuff. It’s also not possible to take pictures within TILT, only photographers will do and you have to buy overpriced pictures afterwards. Single picture costs 35$+ To summarise: It’s worth visiting the platform to enjoy the view but no side activities needed.

Fantastic location to view the city from above, walk from there to your next destination (the river walk, Millennium park, the beach, etc), or just around the neighborhood.

360 Chicago on the 94th floor has a beautiful panorama! Wonderful ambience! Seating is provided to relax and take in the view! TILT provides sufficient time to enjoy the thrilling perspective! The pre-show experience about Chicago is interesting.

Good experience, and fun place to visit. Tilt was a Lil scary yet cool. It's a tourist must visit place.

Wonderful views from the building top, in a not-too-crowded environment.

This a great experience for a simple date for my girlfriend and myself. Slightly skeptical at first, the view of Chicago is breathtaking! I recalled the space being used as the former Signature Room restaurant on the 95th floor of the building. I suggest a quick look at Groupon for any discounts. The atmosphere was relaxed. People weren't rude or pushy. Tourists have a good presence. Parking is convenient but spendy.
