"Located in a strip mall, this popular spot serves some of the juiciest, most delicate xiao long bao in the East Bay. Buns, dumplings, and other snack-y items are the way to go. Other favorites include the equally juicy, crisp-bottomed sheng jian bao and the beef rolls — it’s like meaty, rolled-up scallion pancakes." - Dianne de Guzman, Momo Chang, Eater Staff

Yelp
The food is consistently flavorful and delicious. Service has always been friendly and provides great insight on favorite dishes. This location has a cozy ambiance without feeling cramped. Great place to have lunch with friends and affordable pricing that allows you to taste multiple dishes without breaking the bank.

Yelp
I had such a wonderful dining experience at another 88 Bao Bao recently, I wanted take my husband to this Dublin location. We haven't been here since the pandemic over four years ago. We remember it being incredibly busy with people waiting at the door for a table. It was busy on this Friday afternoon, but luckily we were able to get seated. We ordered our favorites: xiao long bao (xlb), sautéed green beans, popcorn chicken, and beef roll. Everything but our xlb came quickly. They make their dumplings fresh in front of a glass window and then the dumplings are steamed so we had time to enjoy the other dishes we ordered. Everything was tasty and fresh. The xlb were piping hot and delicious. The outside is thin and perfectly rolled out with lots of tasty broth inside. Such a special treat for us. The two servers who looked after us were incredibly sweet and friendly. My husband was especially happy to enjoy such a special meal. Parking can be tight due to the other restaurants in this shopping center. We parked across the street near Guitar Center.

Yelp
After I placed the order I read the review that mentioned one of the employees hacking up phlegm and spitting it into the trash can near the prepared food. I really wish I had read that before ordering from this place...I ordered the shrimp fried rice, which tasted like it had been made a week prior and after eating a few bites I could tell it had MSG which I and basically everyone is allergic to. I'm still recovering. Extremely disappointing and a waste of $24. I will not make that mistake again!

Yelp
- 7 0 0 T H R E V I E W - The xiao long baos are fine, not mind blowing, just fine. Probably the best thing on their menu though. The spicy wontons didn't really have a lot of flavor other than straight chili oil. It needed some soy sauce or something else. The garlic green beans weren't crispy at all. It didn't have a lot of garlic either and were poorly prepared. It still had the fibrous strings on them, which typically are peeled off. The condensed milk with fried buns were also fine. Overall, first time trying it and honestly think it'll be my last.

Yelp
Came here with a vegetarian friend and they actually had so many options! We got the green onion pancakes, green beans, cucumber salad, veggie steamed buns and vegetable dumplings. The food came out fairly quick and everything was delicious. Like always my favorite thing to order at any dim sum place is the green beans. Smothered in garlic and so crunchy you really can't go wrong! A great crunch cousin is the cucumber salad. Adorned with a vinegar and chili sauce that will make your taste buds water. Everything else was great too! If you make your vinegar sauce right the flavors are elevated to a whole new level. I would order everything again but the buns! To me there was a lack of filling leaving the bun to feel dry and not worth the stomach space. Service was efficient and they were helpful in pointing out menu items that were cooked with animal products.

Yelp
Dumplings anyone? Yes please! Dim Sum good eats here! 88 Bao Bao is one of my favorites new places dine out or take out. This little place is always busy which is a great sign that the food and service is excellent. My personal favorite is the vegetable and pork dumpling soup add a dash of chili sauce to kick it up a notch and the broth will completely hit the spot.

Yelp
3.5 stars rounded up to 4. The food here isn't the best ever, but it definitely hits the spot when you're craving xlb. When you come in, they seat you and give you a menu and you come up to the register to order. My gf and I got the cucumber salad, popcorn chicken, crab and pork xlb, and pork xlb. It came out to be around $60 with tip. Don't expect exceptional service; once you order you'll be left alone to eat unless you ask for something. The chili oil could've been spicier and more flavorful. Cucumber salad: 3/5 Nothing special, the taste was standard but it's refreshing. Popcorn chicken: 4/5 this comes with a massive portion. The chicken was juicy and crispy. It has a good breading to chicken ratio. I wish it came with more basil and there was an option to make it spicy or have spice on the side you can shake on like boba shops. Crab and pork xlb: 4/5 I thought the thickness of the skin was perfect. The flavor was really good and the crab added a hint of sweetness. My only complaint is I wish it had more soup.

Yelp
Went in for lunch today. The place wasn't packed but it was quite busy with people ordering to go. Egg fried rice with chicken 3.5/5 Standard decent Chinese egg fried rice Beef noodle soup 3/5 The beef is very tender and the noodle is nice and chewy. But the soup needs more flavor in my opinion . It is a little bland. Sesame balls 4/5 enjoyed this one nice and soft and chewy. Filling could be more generous. Steamed bbq bun 3.5/5 No complain. Decent filling with nice fluffy bun. Steamed chicken bun 2.5/5 This one is underwhelming. The filling is lacking flavor. There is a decent amount of meat in it tho. Bun is a bit soggy Steamed pork bun 3.5/5 The bun is a bit soggy on this one too. Filling flavor much better than chicken. Shumai 4/5 Overall we quite enjoyed the selections.

Yelp
Beef Roll and XLB are pretty good! The interior of this place is fast casual and has a good amount of seating. No problems with parking in the plaza. My friend and I shared a variety of food, but the best was probably the Beef Roll! Good amount of ingredients and the texture is really pleasant. A little chewy, a little crispy. The Pork Xiao Long Bao are huge and full of soup! The soup is pretty rich. The Sheng Jian Bao are decent, but the meat inside was way too fatty of me. It was gushing and greasy for me. The dough was pretty thick too.

kimberly C.

Yelp
Delicious everything / we usually order the beef roll- yummy thin marinated beef rolled in a pancake(like green onion pancake), XLB - juicy goodness ( don't get it to go because the juice will just fall out), fried bread that comes with condensed milk to dip it in, fried pork buns, noodle soup , marinated cucumbers , and fried mein. Also a good place to get a bag of frozen dumplings ($35) to bring home and cook yourself. Comfort food always

Yelp
As a fan of Shanghainese and Taiwanese food, Shan88 Bao Bao's menu offers many of my favorite dishes, including pan fried dumplings, beef roll pancake, xiaolongbaos, green onion pancakes and fried string beans. Everything was quite good and was delivered quickly to the table after we placed our order, but there was not a dish that I would say was the absolute BEST rendition of the dish that I've had in the Bay Area. For instance, with the beef roll pancake, the beef inside was a bit dry and there was not enough plum sauce nor julienned scallions. The scallion pancake it was wrapped in however was perfectly fried and super crispy. With the pan fried dumplings, I personally prefer for the bottoms to be crisped up more, even leaning more towards the charred side. Lastly, while the wrappers to the xiaolongbaos were rolled as thin as a place like Din Tai Fung and pleated just as well, I felt like they were not as juicy. In truth, I'm being super nitpicking in my review. Overall, the food here was excellent and I would gladly stop by again here for lunch if I'm in the area, especially since I can find many of my favorite dishes all in one spot.

Yelp
I was hungry and love dumplings. This place was nearby, has great reviews and a lot of them as well as several locations so I decided to give them a shot. While not horrendous, I would not come back. The flavor was so so on most items and the crab/pork XLB had among three worst flavor of any dumpling I've ever eaten. Considering the high price ($50 for 4 items) which is easily double or triple the price for far superior dumplings in SF Chinatown this place is just not it. Positives: - easy online ordering - good was ready quickly and on time for pickup - friendly and well trained staff - food was very hot and fresh - clean store and restroom - food has excellent appearance and good texture of the dumpling wrapper - Negatives: - so-so to terrible flavor - 2-3x more expensive than SF china town prices.

Yelp
This was a good experience for me. I found it strange that we were required to pay first before your food comes. I am generally used to having to pay after so it was a little confused for me -- especially since it's a sit down restaurant. The dumplings are good, and does not have much ginger in them, which is fabulous for me -- as a non-ginger fan. I was not a fan of the siu mai -- they were tough and a bit too small. I would do the steamed pot stickers again and the dumplings. And, I am certainly going to go and get the frozen dumplings! That's an amazing option and likely so much better at home -- than the ones from Costco! Service was ok, nothing to write home about, and the ambiance is what you would assume it would be. A little humid (given the steam from the cooking) -- but not uncomfortable.

Yelp
Ok, a new XLB place...have to try it! Turns out they have been here about 5 years. Oops. I thought it was new but then again, I don't live in this area. Super friendly staff. You order at the cashier, pay, and take your number. Afterward, you can find a table to sit down. They will graciously bring your food to the table. We only tried a few things because we had eaten a lighter dinner jist before. Pork Xiao Long Bao (4/5): Good soup dumplings. The meat was nicely seasoned. We came close to closing, so a couple of the top of the dumplings were slightly undercooked, but not too bad that it ruined the dish. Pork Bun $2.50 each. Pretty good sized bun filled with juicy meat inside. It's definitely a must try place. We will try the pan-fried buns next time!

Yelp
Got in early before any line started forming. Service is friendly and quick + food is delicious. Place is small, hence the line at most times, but food is consistent. Pan fried pork bun, shu mai, and xiao long bao and special custard buns make the long weekend even better!

Jarred L.

Yelp
Absolute bussin bussin everything on god. Super friendly and hardworking staff. U can see them make the food right in front of u fresh. Ordered probably like 10 things between the three of us and all of it was bussin. Fried rice = goated Would recommend. Place is clean, everyone's super efficient too. We ordered so much that it couldn't fit on our table smaller table but the staff was super nice and moved a table without us even asking so we could lay it all out. Bathroom is super clean too. The only thing that I thought could use help was the beef noodle. Honestly close to being there but not quite. It's a little bland and the meat isn't as tender as I would like.

Yelp
Need to go to San Francisco Premium Outlet to pick up some stuff and we are a little hungry, so we turn to Yelp for recommendations. Found this place with some promising reviews and food pics. Since it's a little chilly, I thought it'll be perfect to have some pipping hot yummy pan fried pork buns! Got there around 4pm and was immediately greeted by two of their friendly servers. They have highlighted that they have be a few specials on the white board that are not on their normal menu. They said their beef noodles soup is really good and the portion size is big. I already have my heart set on pan fried buns and beef rolls based on the reviews, I can't possibly fit the beef noodles in my limited stomach quota!! It just has to wait until next time. We got three things in the end as two items are not enough variety for my hubby. We got the spicy wontons as well. I have to thank my fellow Yelper who recommended the pan fried pork buns and beef rolls. Both are delicious and I will certainly come back for both items. The spicy wontons are just ok. I'll get the beef noodles soup next time! While we were waiting for our food, the table behind us ordered some sort of stir-fried noodles. The portion size is shockingly huge!! It's probably two orders size by San Mateo standard. We will absolutely come back when we go to the outlet next time. If you are looking for food options when you are at the outlet, please drive a few minutes to visit this place. You won't be sorry.

Jessica H.

Yelp
Food was delicious, service was fast. I'll definitely be back for more when I'm craving dumplings.

Marcus C.

Yelp
There was no authentic soup dumpling restaurant in Dublin until 88 Bao Bao, and I am happy to say that they serve amazing soup dumplings! There is always a line outside, but the service is quick. The servers are very kind and gave great recommendations if you are unsure what to order. My party decided to order their Pan Fried Dumplings (Pork, Shrimp, Leek), Wontons in Spicy Chili Oil, and their Pork Xiaolongbao. All of the dishes we ordered were delicious. The Pan Fried Dumplings were crispy on the bottom and was stuffed with filling. The Pork Xiaolongbao was also delicious and was filled with their amazing broth. The Wontons in Spicy Chili Oil was decent and had a great spice to them, but I would not order again. I will definitely come back again just for their Pork Xiaolongbao!

Angel W.

Yelp
We picked a restaurant after the ski trip. But the food is just beyond disappointing... the beef noodle is so dry and thick and tasteless. I would say one of the worst beef noodle I had ever in any restaurant. Would not go back again Waste of our time & money

Hai Y.

Yelp
Beef roll, still pretty good, not too oily. Maybe next time ask for little bit more sauce on side.

Freyja C.

Yelp
Tasty hot oily noodles, and 生煎包. Their dumplings are made fresh, and you can see how they made them in the window. Kid liked it a lot. service is friendly.

Connie C.

Yelp
I love this place! I've been here twice and ordered the same things: beef pancake wrap and xiao long bao! Make sure to eat the xiao long bao while it's fresh because when it's cold it's not as good (so save that catch up conversation for afterwards). But do be careful as it comes out pretty hot! I love both these menu items. The beef pancake is perfectly crispy and the sauce is sweet and salty--it's greasy and indulgent; good for the soul. The last time I was here I saw someone eating noodles next to me, so I'm still looking forward to coming back to try that. You do order first at the counter and then take a seat. The place isn't very big so seating is limited. On both visits I've had to wait a little bit (on a weekend), but there is plenty of parking which I appreciate.

Yelp
Sample several items from this establishment after strolling thru the outlets with the family. Here is a list of everything we sampled and how it all faired Stir fried Lo-Mein - delicious, heavy and flavorful not your normal brand of chow-mein prepped little different definitely will be back for more of these noodles Chicken fried rice - light, not heavy on flavor if your getting marinated meats this is a perfect pairing if your just getting steamed dumplings pass on this item, it is a filler best paired with any meat lol Pork XLB - paired well with vinegar and ginger slices dip, piping hot flavor is on point order this Crab & pork XLB - piping hot paired well with dip, that juice when biting down is intoxicating order this Egg drip soup - similar to egg flower soup but seaweed has been added, piping hot flavorful basic but made perfect Spicy wonton with chili oil - I thought these were meat filled sadly they were filled with veggies, i'd pass on these for next time need the meat lol, slightly spicy but for me needed meat Shu mai - the skin was yellower then i'm use to and orange on top was brighter then i'm also use to seeing, served piping hot, pairs well with soy sauce chewy and flavorful medium sized I would order this again Cucumber salad - fresh, crunchy, the seasoning makes it more refreshing Popcorn chicken - deep fried chicken bits similar to kaarage flavored well all bite size Everything we sampled was pretty good, definitely will be back to try more of their options Food ****.5 pretty solid food Price $$ Service **** helpful staff Ambiance ***.5 seating is on the smaller side if you order several items you will need a larger table lol, i'm not shy I think I always over order lol Pretty good for small groups and for families they are very accommodating

Annie T.

Yelp
Let's just say.... I'm already planning my next visit! *drool* The food speaks for itself. It's that good! The service was impeccable for an order-at-the-counter, seat-yourself type of place. The manager walked around to ask about our meal twice! The cashier whom you order from asked if we had questions. One of the cooks came out twice to give me tips on what to order. For instance, he said the pan fried pork buns were almost sold out, so I should get one. And I did! And it was deeeelicious! The XLB was my fave. Or maybe it was the mini sesame balls that were buttery in flavor and had just the perfect amount of crunch with every bite. Or maybe it was the green beans! Ahhhh, okay, I'm going back!

Leo L.

Yelp
My favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. Everything on the menu from their Baozi, dumplings, beef rolls to hagao are legit and made to perfection. Everything is the same as the original ones I had when I was young. Highly highly recommended.

Serena L.

Yelp
We've come here a few times since it's near Livermore and on the way to i-5, and it's a decent place for dumplings. We tried some of the basics: xiao long bao, pan fried bun, chili wonton, and steamed dumplings (most likely pork and chive or something similar). Xiao long bao was alright, juicy and meaty with good flavor. The pan fried bun wasn't too crisp on the bottom, which disappointed me a little since I like the crispy bottom. The filling was a little mid and could be better. The chili wonton was also just alright. The chili oil was a little lacking as well as the filling flavor. The steamed dumplings also lacked some flavor. We also tried the beef pancake and garlic green beans. The pancake is pretty good-- nice and crispy on the outside with a flavorful filling and sauce. The green beans looked like they didn't have garlic, but it was actually underneath everything. I do prefer garlic green beans to be cooked a little more, but it's still pretty good.

Aiza B.

Yelp
After shopping at Livermore over the weekend, my family decided to eat here. At first, it was packed and looked really busy. There were lots of tables and chairs in the restaurant as well. Since it was busy, we had to wait about 10 minutes before getting a table. We also had to order first at the register before being seated and we were given a table number after ordering. Overall, I would say that the service was really good! The servers were attentive and kind. And even though it was pretty busy in the restaurant, we got our food pretty quickly as well. The Xiao Long Bao was really good to me! I loved how the soup dumplings has a little hole at the top because it made really easy to slurp up the soup once it cooled down a bit. My mom also enjoyed the BBQ pork buns and left no crumbs when she ate it! The potstickers were also pretty good, but definitely not my favorite out of all the food we ordered. I would also say the same about the shumai and shrimp dumplings. I was honestly surprised with the amount we ordered, we didn't realize how much food we ordered until it came. I really enjoyed how fresh and hot everything was when it was placed on our table! We definitely had leftovers for dinner after eating here. I would say that this is definitely a decent place to go to after shopping at the outlets and there's plenty of parking outside as well!

Dalan C.

Yelp
Randomly found this dumpling restaurant and it was a great find! Popcorn chicken was crispy, great flavor, and a huge portion (if you know me I love popcorn chicken) 8.4/10. The XLB was pretty on point even though the skin was a little thicker than I'd like 7.7/10. The leek and pork dumpling was also good, but was lacking in the leeks 7/10. Pan fried dumplings were solid 7.7/10. If I lived closer I'd come to try some of the other dishes. I thought the pricing was pretty decent also.

Diana M.

Yelp
I've lived here for years and had no interest in trying this spot out....until now. WHY DID I WAIT THIS LONG??? It's a small spot with a decent menu. I consider this "fast-food" dim sum. They have their standard menu but what I pay mind to is the hand-written menu that's on the wall near the cashier which changes every so often. Their hand-pulled noodle soup is exceptional! You can tell the noodles are freshly made. Their beef rolls and pork dumplings are a staple. If and when salt & pepper shrimp is offered, that is another tasty dish. I don't think you can go wrong with any of their dishes. It's not too salty; may be bland to some but I like it that way. You can always add seasoning if need be. Service is fine; they're friendly and efficient. I came back 3x after my first visit. Great spot when you're in a bind and don't have time to cook. Will be visiting frequently!

Jessica G.

Yelp
SO. MUCH. FOOD. My friends and I came here on a Saturday late morning and got seated pretty easily. Similar to other dim sum places, you'll note your order down on their menu card. Though, keep in mind that the portions are bigger to go along with the higher price. We quickly found that ordering while hungry like we did meant that we got way more food than we thought. Food * popcorn chicken - really liked the crispiness and the seasoning! * beef roll - sweeter than I was expecting but still good. I also liked the crunch from the outside layer * steamed pork & shrimp dumplings - they're ok, I prob won't order them next time but mostly because I feel like I'd rather just go with the pan fried version * chicken fried rice - yum! Nothing out of the ordinary when it comes to fried rice but still good fried rice * pork xiaolongbao - my fav here! The soup was really tasty. * pork potstickers - also really good! I wish I had more but I was starting to get super full. * spicy wonton - good but I've had better elsewhere. A little too much cilantro and greens for me. * pork buns - ok we def only should've gotten 2 but like I said, we ordered when we were hungry. Pork buns are the savory kind and so big! Could be enough to share between 2 people. There's so many other foods I want to try here. I'll def be back!

Amy D.

Yelp
Hit or miss for the items I tried, but overall, 88 Bao Bao has solid options for dumplings! They were busy at 2:30pm on a Sunday, but there were still a couple of tables available. It was about a 20 minute wait for an order placed at 2:10pm, and my order was being packed up when I arrived. This location is one out of 3 in the Bay Area, and it's a small space. I tried: -Pork Xiaolongbao ($11.95, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=NeTz50wKeaQNmjNqgXeU7Q&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Solid version of xiaolongbao, and I loved that it was filled with soup! I tried these fresh and reheated later in the day, and they were good even when not eaten right away. The skin was thin, and the soup was flavorful. The filling could've had a little more flavor, but it was solid- recommended! -Beef Roll ($10.95) & Pan Fried Pork Bun ($10.95) [https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=9lbkGwYQJmJhGNeL4DiyeA&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg]: The beef roll was my favorite out of the two items, and it was a solid version. I did need to add more hoisin at home, but the roll wasn't overly thick and the beef was good. The pan fried pork buns were my least in this order- the bun was overly thick, and there wasn't enough soup or meat filling. 88 Bao Bao has a lot of items on their menu, and I would return to try addition dishes. Staff were still wearing masks, and they had sanitizer. Only indoor dining was available. Parking was easy to find in this complex since there were plenty of spots.

Yelp
I feel This place has a new owner now.. delicious food and great customer service. Potstickers Beef noodle Sesame ball Popcorn chicken Shiu may All good

Jessica H.

Yelp
Yummm~ delicious food and efficient service. I like that the menu is taken with a dry erase marker. Makes it easy to keep track of what I'm thinking to get! We had the beef roll, pork bun, pork xiao long bao, and pan fried pork buns. Everything was good. The beef roll was good, but a little thin in filling (not much beef inside). The wrap though was nicely crisp and flaky. Great texture. The overall flavor was maybe a bit one dimensional though- mostly tasting the strong flavor of the sauce (which is tasty, but..!). The pork bun was fluffy and large. Pillowy bao with a good filling of pork inside (yum). The pork xiao long baos were really good, lots of flavorful juice inside and tender dough skin. The pork filling was tender and tasty. The pan fried pork buns I knew I had to try. When we ordered, the staff informed us that they only had about 3 orders left, so it's gotta be good! I really liked the tender top and crispy bottom texture of the bun, and it was pleasantly juicy inside. Nicely executed. Mmmmm! Great flavor bursting, and the filling inside was tender and just right. I enjoyed the meat quality and will definitely come back to check out the other dumplings and whatnot here. The hot teas were good; although not free, it was a teabag of oolong with refill of hot water (whenever staff came around). It was nice.

Yelp
I took a few of my socials to this particular location for lunch Monday. And let me tell you this location. They serve as a family style meal. Meaning that there are large portions of what you order. When you walk in you see their main menu straight ahead and off to the wall on the right side. They also have a very small menu for specials of the day. Which is something pretty unique change it up a little bit not always have the same thing on the menu. The service here was very friendly. Once we all placed our order and sat down all of our food was brought out to our table. we never had to get up. Except to order more food lol! Everything was delicious and prepared in a great time considering that we were on our lunch hour. I can see quite a few people coming in and picking up to go orders as well as delivery drivers coming in to get orders as well. It is located in a shopping center around other businesses. The pricing was, I would say moderate for some items and more reasonable for others. They're sticky buns and they're pork buns are really good. The pork buns are really large in size. Which is something that I liked. Overall a great choice and selection to visit for a meal.

Krishna K.

Yelp
Delicious dumplings all the dumplings are freshly prepped and steamed to cook the meat perfectly inside. I have become a regular customer to this restaurant. Affordable prices and we always went in a group of 4 members and enjoyed the food for a reasonable price. I never had a scallIon pan cake before, this one is a must try. The pan cakes have a layers texture and very crispy on the outside and soft inside with scallions. Dumplings are served in a steam basked and staff served to our table when it is fresh. Staff is very responsive and offered us the hot sauce every time I go, I think they remember me now. Decent ambiance, no sesame oil smell unlike other Chinese restaurants, well maintained and we can see the making of the dumplings and it is very engaging to watch.

Yelp
Solid even after all these years. Usually order takeout after long day; nice people who work there and food doesn't disappoint.

Sandy N.

Yelp
Got seated immediately for a party of 2 on a Monday evening. Service was quick & the servers were really friendly. Rolled Beef Pancake - So yummy & crispy! The sauce inside was delicious & beef was tender. Fried Pork Buns - The server came by and recommended it to us, but it was the least favorite. The bottom wasn't crispy at all, but the meat inside was really good! Crab & Pork XLB - Their meat fillings are so good here! Flavor was on point and soup inside was so yummy.

Michelle T.

Yelp
My friend and I arrived around 7 pm and it was somewhat busy. We were seated right away and handed menus with an erasable marker. To order, you have to mark what you want, bring it to the front and pay. They will then hand you a number to place at your table. The kind gentleman was hyping up the pan fried pork buns so we added them to our order. Pan fried pork buns: the bun itself was pretty bland and wasn't crunch enough at the bottom. The meat and soup filling were tasty though. Beef wraps: these were my favorite! The beef was tender and flavorful. It had hoisin sauce with a hint of peanut butter? which was tasty! Wish there was more lettuce added. Crab and Pork XLB: there were actual pieces of crab you could see which is always a good sign. The dumpling skin was thin yet not too fragile. Broth and filling itself was good and the perfect amount. Service was as expected. They checked on us a few times to see if everything was okay. Water was self serve at the front.

Monica T.

Yelp
Came here with some friends today around noon and ordered way too much food. However everything was very good The food came out rather quickly, we waited about 10 mins from when we ordered to when we started getting some of our food. The restaurant is kind of small, but there is a lot of free parking. The staff was nice, when we were done eating they brought us boxes for our food and thanked us for dining with them.

Mary L.

Yelp
Two stars are friendly service. No stars for the food though. I ordered 4 pan fried pork buns and the crab and pork xiao long baos. Both weren't good at all - especially the meats. The crab and pork meat was nearly spoiled or they used canned crab. The pan fried pork buns were more edible than the xiao long baos, but still not good. My stomach actually feels funny now and my mom says she having stomach pains. She said she almost threw up eating the crab and pork xiao long bao. She wasn't sure what kind of meat it was, but she said it tasted sour. She's burping now and I can hear her stomach rumbling. The only way to describe the meat was mush to me. You couldn't really tell what was mixed in it. Update - 20 minutes later. My mom is ready to throw up. My stomach is rumbling. I've trashed the leftovers to do my stomach a favor. Service is good though!

Yelp
So, I was in the mood for some dumplings, and I swung by this place after hitting up Ramen 101. I mean, I was already slurping on some noodles, why not add some dumplings to the mix, right? Now, ordering at the counter is always a bit of a gamble since the dude is staring at me rushing me to order some food, but I figured I'd roll the dice and see what they got. The soup dumpling was okay, but let's be real - trying to eat soup dumplings with plastic spoons is like trying to cut a steak with a butter knife. It's just not happening. I wish they had given us some actual large spoons so we could really get in there and slurp up that juicy goodness. And don't even get me started on the beef roll. That thing was weirder than a three-legged cat. It had this strange, sour taste to it that just didn't sit right with me. The strange mystery beef added no complementary fixings either. Maybe it needed more fillings or a vegetable to even out the doughyness, I don't know. All I know is that I won't be ordering that again. But hey, at least I got my dumpling fix, right? And who knows, maybe next time they'll have some big boy spoons for me to really get in there and slurp it up. Fingers crossed!

Yelp
So glad I found a new dumpling spot. The service was amazing, staff were very friendly and super attentive. The spot is small but very clean and well maintained. We felt very comfortable and ordered so much yummy food. We were very pleased with our experience, will 100% be coming back. Check it out

Yelp
Thought we tried this location since had eaten at the 88 Bao Bao in Vacaville, which is exceptional. We ordered the rice noodles and it came bland, tasteless, and oily. The cabbage was not cooked and the rice noodles seem like it was mixed with the raw cabbage and place in the box.

Yelp
I really enjoyed dining here! Came for Sunday lunch around 12:30pm or so and got seated right away, most tables were filled up.. They give you a menu to mark quantities and you take it to the register to put in your order and pay. We got a ton of things, the pork xiao long bao, the buns with the condensed milk, the siu mai, the beef rolls, and one of their staff came by and pointed to the pork buns so we got that. Tbh, the pork buns were my least favorite they looked cute from the outside but the inside the meat was mushy and flavorless. The stars of the show were definitely the beef rolls (had the most flavor out of all the dishes imo, like a five spice flavor) and the wrapper was chewy and delicious. I also enjoyed the XLB, the skin wasn't thick and didn't fall apart and the soup was delicious. The siu mai are okay, I prefer the ones at the dim sum places where they push the cart. The fried buns with the condensed milk to dip were also bomb however I could only eat one as it was really filling. My partner really loved those but he has a sweet tooth. I appreciated that the staff were really nice and they even removed the plates when we were done with a dish. The glass windows to the kitchen are a nice touch I like to watch them make food it's mesmerizing. Overall I enjoyed eating here! Most of the items were 6-8 quantity so I feel you get full pretty quickly. Can't wait to come and try more items. It's like fast casual style and the menu is diverse enough, don't come expecting push carts or super elevate flavors. Drink menu is limited, but they have a water station.

Yelp
My sister actually recommended 88 Bao Bao to me for a while but I didn't get a chance to try it until today. My partner and I decided to give this place a try today since we were close by and it's been on our list to try for a while now. 88 Bao Bao is located in the center of a plaza so plenty of parking available. We got there around 6:45 PM on Saturday I believe, and it was pretty full, but still had some open spots. This place is decent size with a handful of small tables and maybe like .. 2 big party tables. We were seated, given a menu, and was told to order at the counter when ready. We ordered Pork Xiao Long Bao (1), Sauteed Garlic Green Beans (1), Steamed Leek, Pork, & Shrimp Dumpling (1), Beef Roll (1), and a Red Bean Bun (1). Their drink selection is really limited, so we ended up just grabbing cups of water for ourselves (self served). Food came fairly quickly. The first thing that arrived was actually the Red Bean Bun, and my god, this was a massive bun, haha. We were doubtful when an order of red bean bun came out to be $2.50, but for that big of a bun, I guess it's worth it. I kind of wish it was smaller in size - like a small after dinner dessert, but it was good. Anyways, first up was the green beans. It was sauteed nicely. Beans were a tad crunchy, flavor was light, portion was generous, but I thought it was a tad too oily for my taste. The sliced garlic in there is delicious though. For the Xiao Long Bao - this was definitely a favorite for the both of us. The skin was thin. There were plenty of soup in each of the XLB, and filling to skin ratio was great. The price point for this order compared to other places was pretty great as well. The Leek, Shrimp and Pork was okay. Again, skin to filling ratio was pretty nice, but it doesn't particularly stand out to us. On the other hand, the Beef Rolls were surprisingly delicious. I thought it was going to be savory, but the beef slices in there were mildly sweet. The rolls were wrapped tightly so none of the rolls fell apart easily. The outer skin was nicely crisped up and it may just be one of the top beef rolls I've had around the Bay Area. All in all, a pretty good experience here at 88 Bao Bao. The service here was brisk. Workers were quick and efficient, but also made sure to check in with us from time to time, so pretty good! I'm looking forward to trying their other location at Castro Valley!

Yelp
Love this restaurant and the food was so good. The place is small and homey and I love how you can see the staff make the dumplings fresh. Me and my friend ordered food and we got way more than we expected from a dim sum restaurant. We were expecting like 4 pieces of dim sum per order, so when the food kept coming, it kept coming. With plenty of left overs and decently priced check, we both left happy and satisfied.
