Berlin is like a second home for me (last 20 years). So here we are. This is the place. Great bar with an underground feel to it with great music selection and atmosphere. Also, a projector showed old movie clips to set the mood.

Beautiful spot in Berlin. Sweet people and friendly atmosphere. A place where you feel good.

This is my favorite bar. Always perfect music and positive vibes. It is always crowded so getting a seat is a problem but it doesn’t matter. Been here since 2017 every time I am in Berlin. If you love 60s and don’t mind the smoke it is a must.

Absolutely loved this place. Staff are lovely. Definitely busier on the Friday.

Great atmosphere, but don't go if you're thirsty. Sat at the bar for 25 mins, first looking respectful and hopeful, then smiling respectfully, then holding up 50 Euros. Didn't say a word. Received one (1) scathing glance. Missed most of a great band. Maybe don't go here if you're an ancient and mellow white guy, however innocuous looking you are.

Went here on what I call a “solo mish”… I go to a bar and pretend to be someone I’m not. In appearance, demeanor, gestures. Ideally someone approaches me (which in this case, did not happen) and I try to maintain my facade for as long as I can. In 2004 when I was at the CC Club in Minneapolis this met its logical end when I woke up in the soft cotton shoals of a University of Minnesota students’ dorm room. Could’ve gone worse. Anyway, I had one drink at 8MM and left. Didn’t tip, regretted it. Fun place.

Very solid bar. Really great music and good drinks, also some very cheap tequila shots. Not a lot of space to sit inside but if you can grab a spot, it's worth it.

Dive-y, dark and small. Come as you are, go as you please. Overall not a bad spot to start an/or end your night. Cleanliness is not the best but hey, you're in Berlin, ja? Don't freak if you see some soft porn projected onto the bar walls after nightfall.

Respectable joint. A lot of class. You can always catch an act on the stage. Tiny as hell, but part of the charm. The indoor smoking is a bummer -- perhaps the cigarettes should be kept outside, but it could remain indoor-vape-friendly. If I lived in Berlin, I would go to 8mm too much.

I dig this bar - almost reminds me of someplace I would have gone to in the mission in SF in 2008. Cool crowd, solid drinks, and you can take your beer and go join the real party in the street outside. I got there on Friday night at 1:30 or 2am and it was packed. Seemed like the peak time to be there. Only thing that was lame was the (very cute) door guy was charging people 1Euro to go inside, pretty unnecessary imo. Still...I'd go back!

Small and smoky with a DJ spinning mostly alternative tracks. Instantly won over when I first walked in and The Modern Lovers came on. Simple drink list includes a Dark & Stormy, a major plus in my book.

I really like the bar, it's small, comfy, nice Music with cool Beer and Cocktail's. On the Weekends it's most of the Time too Full.

Freedom of movement in and out once you've been stamped made this a handy bolt hole whilst waiting for bands to go back on stage over the road. Tunes inside were decent enough, 8mm film on the wall was diverting and the people were some sort of beautiful. Wouldn't fancy it if it was any busier than on the night in question as it's about the same size as my ofice but with fewer seats. Interesting pictures on the gents toilet walls.

I went with friends last night. I really liked the place and the music was excellent. More electro, etc I will go back.

A dive bar which I believe has seen its day come and go. Always full but no longer as fun as one would expect it. Usually packed full of a fairly hipster crowd. Service is average and it takes quite some time to get your drinks when full. The location is ok but the interior is nothing special. A bit grimy as expected from such a place. Otherwise, nothing much to say about this place. Won't be rushing back but you can do worse.

full disclosure: i worked at this bar for a year when i first moved to berlin and i consider the owners friends. that said, i have a few things to let out i think as far as bars go in berlin, 8mm is one of the best. most bars in berlin are really just cafes disguised as bars, people sitting around quietly talking and no one seeming to have any actual fun. not the case in 8mm. though over the years it has calmed down some, its still a raucous place to go and have a good, loud time. heavy on the hipster quotient, but not always annoyingly so. it used to be a english speaking expat destination, but is now filled with more scandinavians than you can shake a stick at and a wide variety of other countries represented too (including germans). cute bar staff, good music and dark. like a bar should be.

one of the coolest bars in berlin! awesome music, good booze and great owners who take pride in their bar. a must-see for all expats from the states you might even run into someone you already knew from back home! go there.

wie alles gute in berlin ist auch die 8mm bar von gierigen, uniformen kindern kaputtgespielt worden. zu voll, zu gleichgeschaltet, zu unentspannt. schade. war cool.
