"I noted that Springfield’s 9 Pad Thai is another restaurant D.C. chefs visit when they’re not working, mentioned among their local favorite spots." - Adele Chapin

Google
I recently visited 9PadThai and had an amazing experience! The food is authentic, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Every dish I tried was delicious, from the classic pad Thai and tried their fried fish😋, it was absolutely delicious! Crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside. Everything else I tried was also amazing, The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is casual and welcoming, great for a quick meal or a relaxed dinner. Definitely a must-try for anyone craving Thai food!✨✨

Google
This spot is absolutely amazing. There is a picture menu that corresponds to the normal menu so that you can view what the dishes look like. The pictures aren't staged ones either so you know it's legit and what you order is what you will get. We came here for the first time and got the moo ping meat stick appetizers. I would highly recommend them. Usually when we order it's been very dry but the ones from here were succulent and took me back to my time in Thailand. We also got the drunken noodles with beef. Boy was it spicy, but absolutely delicious. I would get it again, but probably ask for medium spice next time. We also got the Siam fried rice. It turned out pink and tasted sweet. Super interesting and it paired amazingly with the drunken noodles because it helped with the spiciness of the drunken noodles as well as provide a sweetness to the saltiness of the noodles. In general, this place actually has the burn taste in their food that you expect only from a wok and cooks their meat very well. Would go out of my way to eat here in the future. Definitely top 3 Thai places that I have eaten at in the Northern Virginia NOVA area

Google
It was okay place. I have been to better Thai place. The Fried Rice was good, but my friend told me her Green Curry wasn't good. Portion size was good! As a quick bite, this can be the place otherwise, I would not recommend this restaurant.

Google
Great service, great food. We got the 9 pad thai, chicken curry noodles, and custard sticky rice. Everything was extremely delicious, especially the curry noodles. For those that eat halal, you're in luck! The chicken they serve is zabiha halal. Definitely coming back here for more.

Google
Damn! That was so good. I had the spicy pad prik sod. The flavors are on point. My father-in-law said he couldn't finish his dish, he was a liar.

Google
The Crispy Duck Basil ($15.95) was sweet, spicy, delicious, and crispy to the last bite. A complimentary Lunch Spring Roll was a nice surprise. Thai Iced Tea was only $3.75. A great lunch that was very reasonably priced.

Google
The food and service here is absolutely wonderful. A true mom and pop restaurant, 9 Pad Thai serves your food with friendliness. The boat noodle is spectacular; the 9 Pad Thai dish is tasty; and the fried noodle pad thai is delicious! It is one of the only in the NOVA area I have been able to find. A hidden gem!

Google
Originally I was going to give 4 stars because of the amount of oil in the food - you can see it floating on the curry and the soup. But then we tasted it - the food is just plain yummy! Fat = flavor lol. My husband, who is super picky about his pad Thai loved it. It's the first Thai restaurant in the area that he has enjoyed (and we've sampled a lot of places). We will definitely be getting take out from there again.

Yelp
I came here for my lunch break, with high hopes due to the rating. When I walked in it was completely empty. I would like to explain my experience within the first minute of me stepping in. Me: One for here Lady in hoodie: *saying loudly across the restaurant* picking up? Me: No one for here Lady: For here? how many people Me: One. Throughout the interaction, she came off rude and annoyed so it was already distasteful. As I sat down, i noticed that the area itself is clean. Another lady in a hat served me and she was really sweet. As I was ordering, I asked if they had wifi (because on settings it says "9 PadThai wifi" and as she was going to respond, the lady in the hoodie interject from across the restaurant saying no. I did not appreciate the attitude as I am just asking a question, the service was 50/50, one lady was nice, the other was completely rude. It does not help that I saw the same lady in a hoodie greet some customers warmly and other ice cold. I ordered the firecracker shrimp as an appetizer and came with a complementary fried roll. Both items were average, nothing special. I was imagining something like bang bang shrimp based off of the name and description. The shrimp itself was good, very fresh and soft. I was wowed by the pad thai. Very delicious and flavorful, I asked for thai spicy so there was a small kick, but enjoyable to eat. Overall the food was 50/50, the service was 50/50, I do not think I will be coming back solely because of that interaction. This place is always having people picking up so maybe take out is the way to go for this location.

Yelp
Loved the service and food here . I found out this place was close to Big Blue when my husband ordered here instead of 29 pad Thai (I believe it is their sister location) honestly don't mind as I'll probably be picking up Thai food few times a month after swim practice . I usually order the padsew for the kids and the shrimp pad Thai for myself . Definitely looking forward to trying out the curry next
google avatar

Pranav P.

Yelp
Ordered through grubby, found out ordering on the website would've saved me 10% based on fees which is eh, food was fire really liked the panang curry, I don't usually finish the rice with panang curries but I actually did this time. Fried rice was very tasty as well

Yelp
Went here with a SO on a Friday night. It was not packed inside but it was busy with lots of take out orders. I share this because the service was exceptionally slow. Perhaps it was just that the kitchen was backed up with so many carry out orders. We got veggie Pad Thai, veggie fried rice and veggie curry. Food was really good. Location was easy to find and the interior was nicely decorated. I want to give it four stars but the wait to actually get our food was way too long. They were apologetic for the wait, however it was clear that carry out orders took priority over in person diners.

Yelp
This place is consistently one of the best thai places I've been to and definitely the most delicious Thai restaurant in the area. The service is phenomenal and the flavors are unparallel. Solidly 5/5.

Yelp
This has been my go to Thai place for a while, but I just moved so I thought it would be fitting to finally write a review since I won't go as much anymore. Located in a strip mall, I always order Thai from here to go, usually through a delivery service app. I've never had any problems with my orders. The pad Thai and drunken noodles here rock, over the years I've tried other items, but I always go back to those. I will say, the very last time I ordered I noted that I wanted the drunken noodles "Mild (not spicy please!)" and I feel like I emphasized the not spicy tooooo much so they really didn't give me much seasoning on that batch. Next time I will just say mild like usual and hopefully the noodles will be like I remembered them. I also like to get crab wontons if they are ever an option wherever I go. The wontons here are okay. I wish they were a bit more crunchy, and had more (fake) crab. I feel like they are just little pockets of cream cheese haha. I still get them every time though. Thank you 9 Pad Thai for holding down for me for 5 years!

Yelp
What an incredible find. We ate at a good Thai restaurant the previous day and our cousins invited us to try 9 Pad Thai. Needless to say we were blown away by their unique take on Thai Cuisine. Top notch were the Crispy Pad Thai, Crispy Duck and Soft shell crab. All dishes were 3 star with the exception of the calamari which was more crust and little calamari. The service was attentive and friendly. The ambiance was relaxed and simple The also served both Singha and Chang Beer, which paired well with the Thai spices.

James L.

Yelp
Thai food, as a non-Thai person, seems to taste universally good wherever I go. This one is even a touch up. Walking in here and ordering their signature entree (the 9 pad thai) made me feel like I discovered a hidden gem--in Springfield of all places? It really is that good. I brought one of my Thai friends to this place to validate my assumptions, and he even said it is actually very tasty. Also, parking around here is so easy because the plaza is not very busy at all. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
With the wonderful reviews we decided to come here for dinner. Parking is easy. The decor is inviting with luscious photos of food on one wall and an interesting wall with what looks like Hardy Board and windows on the other. We were promptly greeted and seated, the service was wonderful. The food was not as good as we expected. We chose the Spring Rolls as an appetizer. They were pretty good with a nice sauce accompanying. The Tom Yum 9Padthai was a take off of Tom Yum soup with coconut milk. It has no distinctive flavoring and was frankly disappointing. Our entrees included the Pia Pad Keun Chai. This was a serving of vegetables served in a brown sauce and was truly uninteresting. The Chu Chee salmon was reasonably good. The quality of the fish was good; but with some veges on the side and a somewhat boring sauce, the dish was somewhat boring. The dessert was the best part of our meal!! the Fresh Mango and Sticky Rice was really refreshing, with a nice contrast of texture, flavor and temperature. 9 Pad Thai is what I'd describe as Suburban Thai food. It's not the real thing but it's OK.

Yelp
I love this place . Owner is sooo friendly and nice . Affordable food and delicious too . Very authentic. Great service. One of the best Thai restaurants around in Springfield

Yelp
Ordered take-away on this hot, lazy Sunday. Chicken Pad Thai was good but seemed to have odd taste and the Kanom Jeep were SUPER DRY, even with the sauce. Needless to say they went the way of the TRASH. Will we order again...NOT

Yelp
Outstanding! Friends introduced us to this wonderful taste of Thailand. We ventured into Thai dishes never tried before and it was a delight. So used to the Panang Beef at Rabieng, needed to get out of the rut! Tried drunken noodles and shared their pineapple fried rice. Our party also enjoyed the Tom Yum Shrimp soup, the house special 9 Pad Thai and the Fried Tofu Pad Thai. Our server was very attentive and anticipated our requests. Servings were all shareable and prices were competitive (at least in today's market). There was a pretty consistent stream of folks coming in to pick up their to-go orders. 9 Pad Thai Restaurant was a quiet environment on a Wednesday night that lacked dining in clientele and background music.
google avatar

Yelp
The Tom Yum bowl made a filling and very satisfying meal, with rich, well-blended flavors. The server was very quiet but brought us what we needed. The place is quite clean and well decorated, too.

Yelp
Amazing Khao Soi! I was so happy to find that N Thailand specialty after traveling there last month. I'll be a repeat customer!

Yelp
Favorite pad Thai place. I won't say too much because I've already given a review. FOOD- lunch shrimp pad Thai $12 - 4.8/5. Was amazing, shrimp was a little dry this time but still, great. SERVICE- 6/5 . Was great. Took care of us beyond expectations. Plenty of seats. Lovely place. Definitely would recommend trying this place out.

Yelp
We came on a saturday for lunch. We ordered appetizers first, got the curry puffs and tom yum shrimp soup. The soup was tasty and it came with 3 pieces of shrimp although it was mispriced on the menu. So we ended up being charged $2 more than the stated menu price. Curry puff had good flavor but unfortunately it was very cold in the center so we took this home to reheat later. For the main entrees, they charge dinner prices on the weekends but the prices were good. We got beef drunken noodle ($12.95) and chicken pad thai ($12.95). Both were delicious and satisfying. Would definitely visit again for the noodle dishes!
google avatar

Yelp
One of few places that have Yen Ta Fo in the menu! We came here specifically to order this pink noodle soup. One of the most popular street foods in Thailand yet seldom found in Thai restaurants. Another bonus is their picture menu! For those not familiar with Thai food or just prefer visuals...love this idea! We ordered yen ta fo (of course), chicken pad Thai, spring rolls and mango sticky rice to go. Service was great, fast and friendly. The restaurant was clean and vibrant! Food came out quickly, everything looked and tasted fresh and flavorful. Yen ta fo was just as I remembered it from childhood....sweet and tart at the same time. Definitely try this place out, venture out and order a not so common dish or stick with the usual...I'm sure it will all be delicious!

Yelp
Been here multiple times. Food is always good and the service is genuine friendly. The place is usually quiet, not busy when I went there which is good so I don't have to wait

Yelp
Tried out this spot while in the area for work. Wish I had photos but I couldn't wait to dig in. I ordered my food to go and my mouth was watering the entire ride. Everything was a 10/10. I had an order of crab rangoon and the green curry dish with extra spice. The crab rangoon filling is very creamy and tasty. The curry dish was very fresh and the perfect amount of heat for a spice lover like myself. So excited to go back and try more dishes.

Yelp
My brother and I went for an early dinner in Springfield. The outside of the place has lots of parking, first come first serve basis due to multiple businesses and other eateries in that shopping center. The interior of the restaurant is clean, some decor and comfortable seatings. The host slash food runner was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. We ordered 5 items: 1) Pork satay 2) Fried crispy tofu 3) Gai Yang 4) Drunken noodles with beef 5) Chicken massaman curry. The pork satay was delicious and the was tender. It arrived with two different sauces. The peanut sauce was a little watered down and the other sauce was sweet with very small diced of bell peppers and scallions. The fried tofu was delicious as well but be careful with your first bite. Since every items is made to order. Your first bite will be piping hot. It's served with a minced peanuts and watered down sweet and sour sauce. The gai yang was surprisingly amazing. It's a platter fit for two or more people. The half roasted chicken was well seasoned and very tender; served with a small basket of sticky rice and two sauces. The massaman curry was flavorful with a hint of spicy. We asked for Thai spicy in which he didn't comply and only gave us the standard level of spiciness. The drunken noodles was crazy delicious, beef was tender like butter and spicy too. Some of the meat portion wasn't cut and was long from thumb to pinkey. We were excited to finally get to the dessert but unfortunately the host advised us that all 7 desserts on the menu were sold out by lunch. It would have been nice to have been told when we first sat down. But overall it was a great experience and delicious food. We will definitely make a return visit and hopefully their dessert menu will be fully stocked.

Yelp
Outstanding food, service, and ambience. Highly recommended if in the area. It feels like a true family owned establishment. I got the Panang curry med-heat but I'm going up next time. Wish me luck!

Yelp
Virginia is blessed with so many great Thai restaurants and 9Pad Thai is among them. This restaurant is located in a small plaza with ample parking. The decor is simple and clean. We have visited 9 Pad Thai several times in a 3 week period. What can I say? It's that good! We've ordered a variety of dishes but began to really crave their watercress salad, som tum, hoi jaw, and floating market soup. Our taste buds are the happiest with spicy, sour, salty and savory flavors (not sweet) so our taste buds are pretty happy at 9 Pad Thai. Great food. Great service.
google avatar

Jasmine B.

Yelp
I've been here multiple times and I always have a great meal. The service is quick and it's usually just the right amount of people inside. The crab ragoons and the crab fried rice is a personal favorite, but the shrimp pad thai is good also! They even have a picture menu!

La G.

Yelp
What happened to this place? It used to be consistently good. And, their pork was always a great choice. Now, they seem to buy lower quality meats, and even then, the pork was even worse then anything. Slimy, poorly-cooked and low-quality. We did an Uber Eats order, and tried to complain to them with pictures, but were just ignore. So sad to see 9 Pad Thai going down too.
google avatar

Song Y.

Yelp
I suspect the food quality is significantly better when dining in. Our takeout was disappointing. We ordered 3 entrees. The drunken noodles were stuck together into globs and chicken tasted dry. Overall flavor was OK. Cashew chicken was breaded/fried chicken. I was expecting sliced chicken with some sauce like most Thai restaurants. This was on the dry side and the few pieces I tried I couldn't tell it was even chicken. Maybe it was over fried or the breading to chicken ratio was too high. I think it would've been much better if there were any actual chunks of chicken. Panang curry with chicken, extra spicy. This is say this was about 8 of 10 spice level which surprised me. There was a generous portion of chicken to sauce ratio while this is usually the other way around at most places. Sauce was thin but taste was good and not overly sweet. Chicken was a bit dry for my liking. I think it might've been better dining in. Their online website menu is outdated. Not sure how old it is but the dishes we ordered showed about $11-12 but they're actually $14+ which makes sense. They should really update their website. I'm open to trying this place again to give it another shot.

Yelp
Third is a solid Thai place. This is the only place that cooks their pad Thai with a whole egg wrapped. Pad trash is a must try here!

Ellie C.

Yelp
9 Pad Thai is a standout for delicious Thai food. I regularly order their vegetable and tofu drunken noodles for take-out, and I've also tried their chicken fried rice, which was great too. The flavors here are always amazing, and the dishes come hot and in nice portions. The drunken noodles are quite spicy, which I love, and they are easily the best I've had. I've tried drunken noodles at many different Thai restaurants, and 9 Pad Thai's version is by far my favorite. If you're a fan of flavorful, spicy Thai food, go here.
google avatar

Carpe D M.

Yelp
I've lived in this area probably longer than it's been here, but never came into 9 Pad Thai. I'm glad I did. I was brought a spring roll to start-- nice change from the usual bread basket (not that you hardly ever get THAT for free these days). My shrimp pad Thai was good (some places make it too sweet) and came exactly as I ordered it (extra scallions). The meal and Thai ice tea were reasonably priced. The service was attentive without being obtrusive. The mint AND Kit Kat bar at the end just left a great "taste in my mouth" for this local gem!
google avatar

Tam B.

Yelp
Food: 9/10 Service: 10/10 Ambiance: 10/10 Nice and simple place to enjoy your favorite Thai dishes. Fast and friendly service and non-overbearing. Pleasant Thai music in the background to help you feel at ease and beautiful decor to keep your eyes wandering while you wait for your food.
google avatar

Stephan T. N.

Yelp
I ordered here when my family is in the mood for Thai food. The prices on all the food are reasonable and the food is decent. I'll order here again.

Yelp
This place was delicious ! The workers are so kind and sweet and the food was wonderful! My friend works around here and said she's gonna start ordering from here she liked it so much. The restaurant was also clean and welcoming

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Highly recommended. Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and Curry were excellent!
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered take out and it never disappoints. Great food. The staff is very nice and had it ready before the time they told me. The restaurant is very nice and clean inside. Will continue to go there.

Yelp
This is a great Thai food selection for Springfield, VA. We ordered drunken noodle and Pad thai which were both great. Both were not spicy and seasoned just right. Service was quick and price was fair. The restaurant looks clean and welcoming. There is enough parking around the area. I would love to try their curries and other drinks. I recommend this place to anybody hungry coming from the 95 highway since it is very close coming off the highway.
google avatar

Joyce Y.

Yelp
A friend brought me here because we all wanted thai food! I was feeling pad thai that night, and I saw that they had a 9pad thai version! The 9 pad thai is essentially a pad thai wrapped in a thin scrambled egg. Sound delicious? I thought the soy flavors were definitely there. I thought it was saltier however not as sweet as your typical pad thai, I didn't get much of that tamarind chili sweetness I was looking for. Overall, if you're a lover of pad thai, I would still recommend getting the 9pad thai, but I wouldn't say it's the best pad thai you'll find around.
google avatar

Paul B.

Yelp
Wonderful food. Ordered signature Pad Thai and two appetizers. Last review, I panned them for not following requests. Glad I tried them again and all went well.
google avatar

Andy Y.

Yelp
Delicious! Every dish ordered was full of flavor and spices. They have a full picture menu of every dish to assist with your decision. The restaurant was clean and the service was fast and friendly. There are plenty of parking shared with other businesses within the center. We will definitely be back. Enjoy!

Kaye F.

Yelp
The chicken satay was the worst I have ever had. Texture was "as if" the chicken had been boiled - and just before it "turned". Peanut sauce serving was the smallest I have seen. The pad Thai wasn't awful, but I have had far better. I do not recommend.

Rita V.

Yelp
My son order drunken noodles and he loved it!!! A must order here I ordered green curry and it was really good
google avatar

Monica M.

Yelp
Really great execution! Presentation, taste, and ambiance. I ordered the Yen Ta Fo noodle soup and it was so good! I wanted to compare it to another place that I tried this dish at, and I feel like this restaurant did a better job with it. It's a sour/sweet soup with wide/thick chewy noodles amongst a few other ingredients in there. The portion was on point, and it filled me up! Their Kanom Jeeb was a nice little appetizer that was also very tasty and paired nicely with it. My husband ordered their curry, and he too enjoyed it. The portion was good and so was its flavor. We always expect our curry to have spice in it and I would say that it did! It was not bland, and the kick was better an expected. I find that I often need to ask for more spice at other restaurants, but we did not need that here! I was so full and satisfied, I would definitely come back here again to try other dishes. They have a lot of different things - the menu is not limited at all. On top of that, they have a picture menu so that you can see large printed pictures of the dish! For people who prefer a visual appeal before ordering, this will do wonders for you! Side note: My utensils were dirty and still had food stuck to it. Be sure to do a double take before use!
google avatar

Caroline J.

Yelp
Still a great Thai restaurant in the downtown Springfield area! Running errands to my three favorite grocery stores (Trader Joe's, Aldi and Lidl) and this amazing Thai restaurant is less than a mile from all three and is a perfect spot for a lunch break! You can't beat the $9 lunch specials with a spring roll. Nice portion of food. My husband got the beef kaprow and I had the Drunken noodles. Both came out piping hot. The drunken noodles seriously have the best flavor! My husband had his dish nice and spicy and we both enjoyed fried wontons as an appetizer. Extremely nice service and excellent food! They seem to do a larger take-out business.
google avatar

Stevo L.

Yelp
Sorry but I can no longer recommend this place anymore. The quality of the food has dropped drastically. It's got this foul offensive old oil taste and smell in every dish. It's gross. We've been disappointed with two takeout orders in a row that there won't be another order coming from us. Good Luck 9PadThai.

Jeri S.

Yelp
This is the 1st time back since the pandemic. The atmosphere is quiet. The dining room is super clean. I was promptly seated and order taken. The staff was very attentive without hovering too much. I had the shrimp pad Thao, kaboom jeeb, and the spring rolls. The apps came out quickly and piping hot. The pad thai followed a few minutes later. I have always enjoyed coming here. Would return all the time if I could. My only issue is the spring rolls could have been drained more (better). Will come back again and more often.
google avatar

Lauran M.

Yelp
I ordered the crispy watercress salad for take out. I got home and there was a generous amount of watercress but it also ha a lot of oil remaining in it. I didn't eat much because I was concerned about getting sick from eating a lot of oil. I have eaten at this restaurant before but didn't enjoy it much this time. I also noticed that it was lunchtime and the restaurant was nearly empty, which surprised me. When I got my bill I noticed that I was charged more than the price on the menu. Beware!

Yelp
I picked up two lunch specials on my way from Springfield to DC earlier today and thoroughly enjoyed my meal from 9 Pad Thai. I ordered the regular Pad Thai with chicken (and, apparently, pork) as well as the Panang Curry with chicken and rice. Both came with spring rolls and had enough in the portion to leave leftovers of each plate. I ordered online which was an easy process and the order was ready for pickup within 15 minutes. The Pad Thai was among the best Pad Thai's I've had in the DMV/DC area; the sauce was tangy and sweet, the onions were perfectly cooked, and there were enough onions/veggies to provide an excellent contrast to the egg, pork, and chicken. I didn't know that the dish would include barbecue pork so if you don't eat pork, make sure to specify that this should be omitted. This dish was easily a 5/5 and a definite highlight of the meal. The Panang Curry was not as good as the Pad Thai and I'd rate it a 4/5. If I had ordered more than the mild spice level, I think the dish would have had a better overall flavor profile. My main criticism was just that the flavor wasn't very strong. Also, there were two bell peppers for garnish when I believe there should have been more than that. Everything was cooked well though and there was quite a lot of chicken. I definitely plan to order from here again next time I'm in the area!

Yelp
Dropped in on a Saturday evening for dinner. A nice spot hidden in a busy little plaza. They have a picture menu if you're a more visual person and would like to see your food before you order it- this is great if you can't remember the name of a particular dish! I ordered the Woon Sen Pad Thai. I've never had this combo before- I've had woon sen and I've had pad Thai, but never where they've mixed it. I LOVED it! The best of both worlds for me. The pad thai also a very nice spicy aftertaste, but not overpowering. I could eat this everyday. My husband ordered the 9Pad Thai, which comes wrapped in a cooked egg omelet. It was your typical pad thai but then served inside an omelet- it was very tasty and a cool presentation. I'm so glad we stopped in, this is my favorite pad thai in the NoVA area by far!!

Dasle K.

Yelp
Amazing Thai food! We were here as a group of 4 and loved everything we ordered. The Siam fried rice was SO GOOD. We ordered it as an appetizer to share and it was really flavorful and tasty. The wings were great as well. We all ordered different noodle/rice dishes - pad see ew, drunken noodles, pad kapow, and I got the 9pad Thai wrapped in an egg. The 9pad thai was amazing. I typically don't order pad Thai because it's often too sweet, but the one here has a TON of veggies and great flavor. It even has a tiny spicy kick to it which I loved. Solid Thai spot for takeout or dining in! Would love to come back.

Yelp
Great pad Thai, great service, another place to hit up for good Thai food. Service quick. Ambiance good. Repeat when in town

Yelp
I'm in love with this place after just going once. I got two noodle dishes just because I wanted to try both. The portions are huge! I obviously could not finish both. I got the Tom yum noodle soup and the pad Thai. As per the name they excel in their pad Thai. It had such a unique flavor and it's almost like I taste the seasoned wok because it tastes a little charred that I loved. The Tom yum noodle soup I asked for extra spicy and yes they did it. My nose was running and eyes were watering. I loved it! I wish they put more fish balls but I will say that they made up for it with how much pork they put in it. Cannot wait to come back to try other dishes they have.
