The Best Fried Chicken in Oakland, Berkeley, and the East Bay - Eater SF

"A perpetually popular weekend brunch destination, 900 Grayson provides West Berkeley with heaps of boneless fried chicken, served either with a waffle or tucked into a sandwich. It’s crispy, well-seasoned, and called, for some reason, “the Demon Lover” when paired with a waffle and gravy. The restaurant is open for takeout and delivery (via Caviar), and it recently reopened its patio for outdoor dining." - Luke Tsai, Ellen Fort

Cute cafe with normal sized portions, no massive plates of food which is either left uneaten or you need to take away. Great ambiance with background music in a lovely historic building. Food was decent without being hugely memorable, service warm and friendly

Google
Mom and pop style breakfast and brunch spot. I took no photos because the food was okay, average. The service was friendly and I love that this restaurant is also lqbtq+ friendly. We did not wait long for a table or for our food to be served. The price was very affordable.

Google
900 Grayson was phenomenal. Ordered the Demon Lover (Chicken & Waffles). You have a choice of syrup, gravy, or both. I ordered both. Chicken was seasoned well and waffle was soft. Overall very flavorful. 900 Grayson also has their own sauces that elevate the flavor. The ambience of this place was amazing. Music was pretty great too. The decor, incredible. Customer service was impeccable. My partner never once had to ask for a refill on his tea. Staff was attentive and polite. You can tell that the people who run 900 Grayson truly care about their customers and their restaurant.

Google
It was busy but as I walked through the door, owner greeted me and upon learning that I was flying solo… gave me a plethora of options. Server (possibly second owner?) came very quickly and his style was pure gold ie pleasant, efficient, effortless and a hawk eye for detail. Food arrived without drama and probably faster than it should have. I don’t know how I missed this gem. You shouldn’t.

This American traditional restaurant is a must-visit for comfort food lovers! The service was exceptional—our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure we had everything we needed. I had the pot roast with mashed potatoes, and it was absolutely incredible—tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The ambiance had a cozy, old-fashioned diner vibe with checkered floors, retro lighting, and vintage décor, making it the perfect setting for a laid-back, nostalgic meal. Great food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere!

Google
Good food, down to business service, and kinda old atmosphere. Not bad at all. Just hard to describe the feeling. I'm sure some people look for it and find comfort in it. So by all means! Enjoy the yummy food!

Google
900 Grayson in Berkeley is a great breakfast & lunch restaurant that attracts a loyal following of dedicated customers who are in love with their delicious menu items. While we were visiting from New York, we heard that we had to plan to at least come here for breakfast! We were very impressed with their service and our delicious breakfast!

Google
This place was really small! I went here with 4 other friends to try their popular chicken and waffle plate and was pleasantly delightful. The gravy was the highlight of the dish for me but overall good brunch place. The server was nice and food came out pretty quickly. If you plan to visit, I recommend going early because it could get crowded pretty quickly. We will probably be back to get brunch when our friends come visit us again.

Yelp
Another Diners Drive Inns and dive joint under my belt. I'm so glad I had an opportunity to eat at 900 Grayson. This small unassuming restaurant has a great old school appeal. Its tasteful homey interior and interesting decorations are warm and welcoming. The atmosphere is very comforting and so was the menu. A simple selection of interesting creations done very well. I was impressed with the service and how personable our sever was. He was as cool as the ambiance. If you have one chance to visit a triple D joint in Berkeley make it 900 Grayson.

Yelp
If you know me then you know I live for chicken & waffles. I returned to 900 Grayson after some time for their Demon Lover. Their fried chicken was crispy yet tender, but it didn't have much flavoring to me. So, I recommend hot sauce (if you like spicy), and ordering both the gravy + syrup, which is an additional cost but worth it. The waffles were light and created a nice balance with the chicken and gravy + syrup. Overall, a cute neighborhood eatery with tasty food and friendly service.

Yelp
A long overdue update. There are few places that are the same between pre- and post-pandemic. The crew at 900 Grayson are even better! For breakfast, the menu selection is still my ideal morning or mid-day meal if Saturday. The eggs are always absolutely perfect, the hashed browns crispy, the bacon so lovely and the homemade jam is to-die. The hot sauces are worth taking a bottle or two for home or gifting. If it is a Saturday though, I am sometimes tempted by the chef's sandwich (the pastrami is lovely) or the burger (which has bacon!). (Why haven't I had the demon lover recently? I just saw four boxed up and taken out the door, well within snatching-reach as they cleared my table.)

Yelp
I recently visited 900 Grayson for weekday breakfast, which is offered until 11 am. It's a cute spot in Berkeley with both indoor seating and an outdoor patio. Because we came on a Tuesday morning around 10:30, it wasn't crowded at all and we had a lot of options for seating. We opted for the patio as it was a lovely day out. My friend ordered the popular Demon Lover ($16), which is their signature fried chicken and waffles dish. I took a couple bites and thought it was solid. The gravy was quite rich though; I was surprised to learn it's a vegetarian (onion-based) gravy. For myself, I got the the Tom Boy ($16), which comes with poached eggs, potato, apple and parsnip corned beef hash, and white toast. Unfortunately, I found it to be a bit disappointing as it felt like separate pieces combined together rather than a cohesive dish. It was still good but just not what I was expecting. I ate the toast with their home made mixed berry jam and that was delicious. Overall, we enjoyed our meal at 900 Grayson. I'm glad we came on a weekday so there was no wait.

Yelp
Simple and sweet brunch. Friend recommended this place and we decided to give it a try. Plenty of street parking nearby. A lot of people seem to enjoy their fried chicken & waffles, and the gravy really elevates the whole thing. I opted for their tofu scramble which still had a nice spice & flavor to it as a lighter option. I also ordered a soju mojito which kicked off my day. It was balanced and boozy just the way I like it. The prices were very reasonable for brunch and not breaking the wallet, something I enjoy when I attempt to imagine I could make it at home. A small menu, but a mighty one. The inside is very homey and cozy with some outdoor seating. Service was fast and attentive the whole time.

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday morning ~9 AM with my friend for brunch! Outside, there were some street parking spots available. We were seated inside and did not have to wait. There were also some outdoor seating options as well. The inside is feels cozy and homey. The server was friendly and welcoming. I ordered the demon lover with the maple syrup and gravy. The gravy was delicious and creamy. Honestly, gravy is my favorite part of any meal and the chicken was a vehicle for the gravy lol. The chicken was moist but a bit bland. The waffle was tasty with the chicken. They also offered some homemade hot sauces for the chicken and those were also good. Overall, I think this place is a West Berkeley gem. I would come back to try other things on their menu.

Yelp
The gravy is so so good! I mean the chicken is too. But the gravy!! My son got the chicken and waffle with gravy. I didn't want to have so much carbs today so I ordered the chicken Ala carte and gravy. I am so glad they have that option because it was the perfect portion for me. While the chicken was beautifully fried and tasty. I thoroughly enjoyed the thick gravy! The texture and flavor was heavenly - probably loaded with heavy cream and fat. Haha. It was a full house here during lunch. Street parking, but didn't have trouble finding a spot. Chill lunch spot.

Yelp
While visiting, our friends encouraged us to plan to have breakfast at 900 Grayson, a unique breakfast & lunch restaurant located at 900 Grayson in Berkeley! While they are famous for their Demon Lovers breakfast: fried chicken with waffles! We decided to attempt to have the lighter, Potter Creek: scrambled eggs with gouda cheese, hash browns and delicious toast! The service is impressive with our coffee being refilled before we had a chance to ask! Although it was a cold and rainy day, customers kept coming in and at 9 am, their intimate dining area was packed! They also have two very cool cool coin operated kid friendly old fashioned mechanical toys on the wall. For $.25 cents you can watch a chef prepare eggs or maybe pizza or get your fortune! We will definitely return on our next visit!

Yelp
My favorite Berkeley breakfast spot. Delicious food made in house. Hearty breakfasts always served hot. Fresh strong coffee. Your cup will seldom be empty. Fast friendly service that will make this your to go breakfast spot.

Yelp
Cute interior with funny names! Came here on a Tuesday morning and it was very ambient! We were sitted next to a window which was a fun experience-- though not much activity going on outside. The workers were very kind and sweet and got us sorted up with water and our older relatively fast. There were a bunch of flies so watch out! Other than that, we got the: Potter Creek: Delicious, loved the herbs and the bread-- though the hashbrowns were crunchy and crackly The Not Belgian Waffle: I loved the butter on top and the strawberries which provided some tart. Fun experience for $32 including tip! Will be back.

Yelp
Love love love this place. My husband and I have been going to this place for about 7 years. Our usual are the demon lover, Cobb salad and Charlie sandwich. It never disappoints us. There's time where we come here 3 times a week
google avatar

Yelp
Demon LOVER This cozy little place is enough of a reason to come to Berkeley and fight to find parking to eat here. Be aware that if you're coming with a party you all must be present to get seated which makes sense with the limited space they have. I've been here a handful of times and only ever gotten the chicken and waffles with gravy & syrup. All of the specials always sound so good but I can't bring myself to deviate from what I love. The chicken is fried ever so perfect to a golden brown crisp atop of a chewy waffle with creamy gravy and sweet syrup. It's really a perfect combination of sweet and savory. You can take a dip into each sauce and get that perfect balance. I am getting hungry again just from this writing and I just ate here an hour ago.
google avatar

Tracy R.

Yelp
Two words: DEMON. LOVER. 5/5, would highly recommend this dish, some of the best chicken and waffles I've ever eaten. The demon lover comes with two sizable pieces of chicken, breaded perfectly and spiced really well. The gravy is a MUST, my husband and I usually get one gravy and one syrup, because I like that mix of sweet and savory. But the gravy definitely carries the dish, so get that! I usually come for lunch on a weekday, so it's not too busy and I'm amble to get seated right away. There is a mix of indoor/outdoor seating, it's a very casual place with a breakfast diner charm and brightly colored walls. I count down the days til I'm able to come back here for breakfast/brunch.

Yelp
This place is so amazing!!! I went in on a Saturday morning around 11 and it was packed rightfully so. They have the best mocha I've tried. They have indoor and outdoor seating. THE BEST chicken and waffles. I usually order with gravy and maple syrup. I wanted to try something new and got the chicken sandwich. The coleslaw is quite vinegary so if you like that this is perfect and I paired it up with the salad which is always amazing!

Yelp
One of the best west Berkeley spots. Friendly staff, great food, an all around wonderful place.

Yelp
Food it's always good. Cook to perfection I was going to take a picture, but I was too hungry. Service excellent acquaint little house that it's in is nice and cozy but a little cramped but I will always recommend this place.

Jescinta D.

Yelp
This was my first time at Graysons, I was looking for a place that makes scrambled eggs and not scrambled folded how Nations cook their scrambled eggs. The food was hot and the eggs was scrambled fluffy, the bacon was crispy but a slight salty but still good and the avocado was creamy. This might be my go to place for just something like I ordered.
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
I have heard about this place for years and finally decided to try it for breakfast with my daughter. The place is small so you may need to wait. Service and food were amazing!
google avatar

Yelp
One-line review: Good! I have a friend who loves this place, so I've been there three times in a couple of months (doesn't happen that often for me). I've enjoyed my food at every visit, from the split pea soup to the burger to their breakfast. I'd really like to try the Chicken and Waffle, but I can never bring myself to say that I'll have the 'Demon Lover...' Anyhow, the food has been great, and the service is personable and accommodating. Especially appreciated their patio option for COVID safety. Parking is free in the neighborhood, though it may take some hunting and result in a short walk. Bottom line: I've already been back and will return.

Yelp
Many amazing lunch offerings. The special is usually... Well, special. Great service, understand how to take care of their customers.

Yelp
Sometime between now and the beginning of 2024, you just might decide you want something to eat that's not on the typical holiday menu. When this happens, I heartily recommend you head directly to Berkeley's 900 Grayson and order their Demon Lover, an amazingly delicious take on fried chicken and waffles. The room is intimate but comfortable. There's outdoor seating available if you and the weather are amenable. The service team we experienced was uniformly attentive, helpful, patient, and pleasant. The background music inspired no small amount of quiet singing along, finger snapping, and restrained but enthusiastic chair dancing, and not just at our table. And everything just made the chicken and waffles that much more impressive. The dish is offered with a choice of maple syrup, housemade cream gravy, or both. Do not hesitate. Get both. There are other delicious and delicious-looking and -sounding salads, sandwiches, and other dishes on the menu. And there is a great selection of libations, with and without alcohol. So you'll have lots of incentive to return soon and often. But you must experience the Demon Lover. You just might never order chicken and waffles anyplace else

Yelp
This is my second time being here after a hiatus of several years. I thoroughly enjoyed the Tom Boy. Two poached eggs with homemade corned beef hash and toast. The corned beef hash was the best ever! I particularly liked those morsels with fat that were almost to die for. I can't get over how scrumptious it was. I guy like me has a big appetite and it didn't disappoint. I got to come back again sooner than later. I sat in the back patio area under an umbrella.
google avatar

Yelp
Super friendly and fast spot - I enjoyed our lunch. I always heard about it for the chicken and waffles, I must admit they were just ok. Fried chicken breast is just an odd concept to me, and the breading was mostly salt (lacking other interesting flavors). For chicken breast it was done well, I just wouldn't seek it out again! On a rainy weekday lunch we waited 15 min for a table. So it definitely gets busy!

Yelp
Went here the other day with an aunt who lives a few blocks away... it was a cute neighborhood spot with friendly wait staff, tasty food, and a nice patio outside. There were four of us in total and we ordered their chicken sandwich, Caesar salad with salmon, Cobb salad, and their chefs sandwich of the day, which was a corned beef panini. No pictures, since I was busy in conversation with my aunt who I hadn't seen in ages! All entrees were tasty. I kept eyeing someone else's chicken sandwich, so ordered one to share along with their Caesar salad. The chicken in the sandwich was nice and crispy. The coleslaw had nice acidity, which helped. I will say though, I think they're known for their chicken and waffles which looked amazing!! I'm planning to try it next time! The salad was good too, salmon was cooked well.... Portions were a good size. Well actually, the perfect size.... Not too small or big. Although waffles looked gigantic as did the fried chicken that accompanied it... fried chicken for the sandwich didn't seem as large. I remember looking at two dishes of chicken and waffles for a different table and having order envy! It was our first time, but it won't be our last!

Robert F.

Yelp
This is my second time here and I wanted to give it a second try before placing a review. I give it a solid 3. We need more breakfast places in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Good food, friendly service, local joint Charlie - seared ahi with mayo Wasabi slaw - tasted pretty basic and quite yummy but wished the bun was more buttery and toasted Demon lover - GOOD fried chicken, crispy seasoned skin and JUICY MEAT despite being breast meat - gravy was country style and have that breakfast feel, the syrup however was way better with the chicken and the waffles - waffle was not memorable Rickey - get the pomegranate mixed with lime, refreshing, but not necessary Ambience - very local, friendly, old school joint with regulars Overall good food, good service and worth a try if you're in the area
google avatar

Isabelle W.

Yelp
I had a great experience here! Food came quickly, the food was overall pretty good, and I had wonderful company. What I ordered: - Demon Lover with the gravy: The chicken's seasoning was really good! I would order this again :) - the only note I have is I wish the waffles were a bit crispier to match the textures of this dish. They were borderline soggy.... still enjoyable but could've been better. Next time I'm here, I want to get both the gravy and syrup to try out or mix the flavors. - Aquatic Park Sunrise (drink): a pleasant drink to have alongside my chicken and waffles Parking here is kind of difficult, but not impossible. You're more likely to find neighborhood parking.

Yelp
Wow, I finally got to try 900 Grayson and I can't believe it's taken me this long lol. I came here on a Saturday for brunch around 12pm and there were people waiting outside trying to get a table. We were expecting a pretty long wait, but we were seated in a good amount of time. The inside was quite small and crowded and I feel like I was brushing up against the people sitting behind me. I got the Demon Lover chicken and waffles with a side of syrup and gravy. Those were the best chicken and waffles I've ever had!!! The syrup and gravy paired so well with the waffles and it just melts in your mouth! It was very filling too, with a good amount of chicken on the plate. It was so good that I drove 30min back here the week after to pick up a to-go order, so my bf could try it lol. I would come back here more often, but I'm not a morning person, and they close at 2pm. I believe on weekdays breakfast is from 8am-10:45am and on Saturday breakfast is served all day in addition to their other lunch items.
google avatar

Winston L.

Yelp
It's weird seeing this restaurant listed as a burger place. According to their website, they only have one burger and it's not served on weekdays. 900 Grayson was a staple for us pre-pandemic. We were excited to come back and see how the restaurant was doing. Started with two orders of the Demon Lover - one with gravy on the side, the other with syrup on the side. We could probably go two syrups and one gravy as we like the syrup can go on anything, but the gravy is for chicken only. Gravy touching the waffle is a party foul. Unfortunately, they only offer the much less tasty / juicy white meat version now. 900 Grayson owners - if you're reading this - I'm assuming most of your patrons prefer white meat, but maybe there can be Chicken Thigh Thursdays? The second was Potter Creek. Really nicely done hash browns with some scrambled eggs and toast. The last dish we ordered was the Tom Boy. It's a large portion of country style potatoes, corned beef, and 2 poached eggs on top. It's not like St. Patrick's Day Corned Beef though - it's corned beef cubes with a nice crispy exterior. If you want comfort brunch food at an affordable price, 900 Grayson is a great spot to be.

Yelp
Small, hipster breakfast spot in Berkeley! Met up with a dear friend to meet her baby boy for the first time and loved how accommodating the staff were to help her park her stroller near our table. We even ran into some of her family members at the same time! Portion size was good, I could only eat one chicken and half the waffle, but it'll make a great meal for later. Gravy was nice and thick, overall I loved the seasoning of everything too!
google avatar

Timmi S.

Yelp
This is the 2nd time I've ordered from this restaurant and had diarrhea. The 1st instance I ordered the Demon Lover and the 2nd instance was the Tom Boy with cheesy grits. I almost didn't make it to the bathroom the 2nd instance.

Yelp
Food: 4/5 Service/Wait: 4/5 Price/Value: 4/5 Atmosphere/Uniqueness: 4/5 TL;DR: I came here with a group of friends on a Saturday around noon. There was a very short wait while they set up the table. We were seated pretty far outside, beyond their outdoor patio. The service was pretty fast, but it seems they were short staffed. It was difficult to get a refill for coffee or to even pay for the bill. I have been here in the past and had the Demon Lover. The chicken is fried really well and the gravy is delicious. The waffles are also yummy. This time I got the 7th and Grayson, which I would give a 3/5. The dish was overall good, but I probably would not be getting it again. The hash brown could benefit from some salt or any type of seasoning. The bread was shockingly hard to bite and chew through. The tofu scramble looked well-seasoned, but did not taste like much. The overall atmosphere is comfortable and good for brunch for small or large groups. The food came out pretty quickly and the selection of food options is decent.

Yelp
I had parking karma in the shade a block away on Seventh Street. We only walked about a block and 900 Grayson is located right on the corner of 7th and Grayson. I like this cozy ambience here and they have indoor and outdoor seating. From the outside, it looks like a little cozy house. We sat outside with a summer breeze which was refreshing under a big umbrella. My friend ordered, the Friday special clam chowder, the fried chicken sandwich with french fries and a lemonade. I had the Chopped Cobb Salad and changed the dressing to vinaigrette on the side. Unfortunately, my friend's sandwich was too spicy for him and he didn't realize it but he ate it. He wasn't happy with the clam chowder either and it looks like a small cup of sauce rather than a cup of soup. Maybe he selected the wrong items to try. I enjoyed my Chopped Cobb salad and it was refreshing with avocados, bits of bacon, chopped tomatoes and onions. It was A-OK. For dessert, my friend ordered a macaroon but for some reason, it was hard to break into pieces and not what he expected. Next time, I'd like to try the chicken and waffles as that seems to be a popular item on the weekend!

Yelp
I find it funny that they have a sign that says black lives matter yet I was just treated as if I was going to steal their tip/cash that was on the counter. I walked up the street to buy my daughter a bottle of water while she's getting her hair braided down the street. I walk into the establishment and there is another customer waiting to be seated and others standing around all were white. The cashier owner I'm not sure he was seated told him he can go ahead and have a seat. I ask for a bottle of water and an apple juice for my 11 month old baby who was in a stroller with me they dint have any apple juice no problem. The issue is as soon as he sees me he grabs the money that had been sitting on the counter for several minutes as if I was going to steal it he even looked at me looked at then grabbed it. I don't have to steal sir I make 6 figures. I informed my stylist of what occurred because she's the one that recommended them. I won't be spending my money in an establishment that judges people based of the color of their skin kinda sucks I dint even get to try their food oh well.

Yelp
Bombwich Mammm never thought a fried chicken breast sandwich could be that juicy, tasty and tender The batter on the chicken was light and seasoned well That's why is the signature dish The tangy slaws go so well with the fried chicken and tip it off with the string onions Match made in heaven Place is narrow with indoor and outdoor seating very Berkeley feel! It does get busy. Street parking only

Yelp
Bring your appetite!! These portions were to the max!! Everything was amazing. The demon lover was seasoned very well and the waffle didn't get soggy. The breakfast hash browns i couldn't stop eating and please don't skip out on the homemade peach jam!! I should requested to buy some to go. You can the waiter is use to working alone because he kept himself moving. He was very attentive to every group (about 3-4 groups) without any sweat. 900 Grayson I recommend!

Yelp
Amazing food, I've eaten here many times and each time I am impressed. Best hang over food in the entire Bay Area 100%. Great staff and service is always helpful.

Yelp
One of our favorite brunch places in Berkeley! The fried chicken is to die for. The gravy even more so. Love the ambiance. The owners are always there on the weekends and super attentive to all details. We love this place.

Yelp
I usually wait until I've been someplace a few times before reviewing but I was impressed on my first go. There is street parking around so start looking a few blocks out if you're there on a Saturday. I called in my order and was told 10 minutes. When I arrived there were people waiting outside to be seated and the place was already packed. The man running the register never stopped moving. He would greet and write down names of new comers, run to the back to help prepare food, clear tables, and answer the phone! I ordered the Demon Lover with gravy, essentially chicken and waffles with gravy. As soon as I got my order I opened the box for my commute home so the waffles wouldn't get soggy from the warm chicken. The waffles survived the trip home but I should have moved the chicken because where it sat it got soft. Nothing a quick trip to the air fryer can't fix! The waffles were seasoned and I declined their hot sauce as we had hot sauce and syrup at home. Chicken was good and benefited from add hot sauce. The gravy was amazing! I was craving gravy and it hit the spot. Would definitely order the dish again. The ambience inside was bustling and average to loud. There were cute eclectic decorations on the wall and things seemed to be moving constantly so I feel the wait wouldn't be crazy but I don't know since I ordered to-go. I didn't try any other dishes but the gravy is certainly worth a taste!

Yelp
Had a lovely breakfast on a Tuesday. Staff was welcoming. Service was to the point and friendly. Had the waffle and basic breakfast. Eggs, bacon, and hash browns were cooked just right. 4 year old loved the waffle. Coffee and condiments were great. Perfect portions, good quality, and reasonable prices. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
Came in for a Saturday brunch around 11:30am, no line at all and was immediately seated inside. It is very fast paced here so I can see why other reviews mention that service isn't the best. Food: Demon Lover ($15) - 3/5, nothing special, just a good place to get fried chicken + waffles when you're craving it. I always remove the chicken pieces off of my waffle since the waffle gets soggy. It comes with gravy but if you want syrup, they charge an additional $2. Breakfast ($12) - 3/5, a solid typical breakfast plate. Scrambled eggs were fluffy, hash browns were nice and crispy. Acme bread slices were warm and delicious as always, appreciated the apricot jam! Drink: Pineapple Agua Fresca - 4/5, pretty refreshing but lacked a bit of flavor. Overall, this was my 3rd time here, first time back in years and it's still just an okay place. Would come back again if I was craving the Demon Lover.

Yelp
This is a nice restaurant in West Berkeley. I have always meant to go over the years, so when I was in town last week I knew I had to stop by. Parking is limited in the area, but street parking was fairly easy to find on a weekday morning. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted. I want to emphasize that the staff were very friendly and attentive. They even knew some of the customers by name! The food was also promptly delivered to the table. I ordered the time-life cookbook as well as the waffle. The eggs and apple salad were okay, but the hashbrowns were good. I enjoyed the waffle as well as it wasn't too sweet. Overall, this is a spot worth trying if you're in the area!

Yelp
Excellent food and service. I've eaten here a few times and service and food are always excellent. It's not fancy- I'm referring to servers who are paying attention, not to whether they have white tablecloths and fancy glassware. Today I had the Demon Lover - basically fried chicken and waffles. Couldn't have been better. Chicken was moist but not soggy, nicely seasoned, coating was crisp, etc. also had some clam chowder-a special of the day. Really good. Plenty of clams, and the broth was not the gloppy starchy sludge served some places. My partner was equally satisfied with her fried chicken sandwich and with the service. The place is also attractive, with windows letting in light. We were really digging the music on the house sound system- when we were there today it was Afro-beat I've also found parking in the area to be pretty good. We'll be coming back.

Yelp
Returned for breakfast. So happy. Chicken and waffles ( demon lover): the chicken was hot ( temperature) breast meat with a nice paprika fried coating. Waffle good. Got this with both the cream sauce and real maple syrup ( they served warm). This was super delicious. Tom boy: I love a good hash and this is good. The meat is in good sized chunks. A few (3 total) pieces had fat on them but easily removed. I like parsnips and this has parsnips. Large portion, so I could eat my 2 nicely poached eggs and half the hash and take the other half hash hime for a redo tomorrow morning. For bathroom and other details see my original post

Yelp
Food is good. Demon lover is a staple. But the service is lacking. Every time I come here one of the owners gives me a very negative vibe, his face is just nasty like he doesn't want you there. I know he's busy, but it only takes a little effort to smile and say hello. The last time I came, he asked if I wanted to be seated inside or out. It was really hot, so I said let me check out the outside seating. He showed me to the table and I said this is fine. He gave me one set of utensil and I said one more person will be joining me. Then he rudely replies with a look of disgust, "You said for one!" I never said that and even if I did, is it that egregious that it's now two? The table had two seats??? The food is good, but every time I come and see the owner, he ruins my day. So even though the food is good, I don't come very often.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our time here this morning. The service was extremely kind, and so quick! The food came out moments after putting the order in. Personally, I enjoyed the chicken and waffles. I had mine with syrup and thought it was quite tasty. They also had mimosas and I enjoyed that as well. It's a cute little spot. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Can't put my finger on it but I really liked their vibe. When I'm in town again I'll definitely return!

Yelp
Food is awesome. Their business hours are super weird and I feel like it's hard to get a table. But if you're strategic and patient it's worth it

Yelp
We tried this place for our "Foodie Thursday". Initially we wanted to try the breakfast but got there too late and ended up having lunch there. My husband had the Grayson burger with salad and I had the season pasta with prawns. The service here was good but food was just ok. The prawns were a little overcooked as it was a little rubbery in texture. Although lunch was average to us we will definitely come back again and give them a chance to impress us with their breakfast.
