"99 is a large grocery store in Malden that stocks a lot of our favorite things: matcha Hello Pandas, douhua, and dark soy sauce. None of those things are related to the sea, but there is a whole corner of the store dedicated to seafood, with tanks of live fish and crustaceans to go along with fillets on ice. Plus, it’s one of the few places we know of where you can buy geoducks, and there’s also a large selection of fish and other seafood balls for soup. Sure, there are a number of other Asian supermarkets around, but for the wide selection of seafood and ease of parking, 99 is one of our favorites." - joel ang

Usually the weekend before Lunar New Year , I like to make a trip to a big Asian store . This year I decided to go to 99 Asian Supermarket. I was pleased with the varieties that they carry. My favorite areas are the produce, seafood, refrigerated packaged noodles and the meat areas. Those of you who want to make crispy pork , the prices of pork belly per lb is less here than at Costco. I sometimes don’t like the huge quantities at warehouses. They had fresh flounder (wow) so one can make the ginger/ green onions steamed fish. They also carry my favorite noodle brands such as Twin Marquis and Ho Toy . So many types of noodles so little time . One can use to create many great meals at home. I usually buy couple of bag and freeze and defrost as needed. Prices range from wow to fair. Not bad at all. A plus is that they have a food court and my favorite Banh mi place is here; Banh mi Ba Le. I have gone to the original location in Dorchester and have gone to the Quincy one ( located in an another supermarket ) and just found out this location. Coming from Maine, going to Malden is a shorter trek . Will definitely come back to this supermarket. My favorite find today was pieces of salmon belly that one can grill, pan fry, or include in a chowder mix. Talk about plenty of omega 3. Definitively a good place to shop.

Google
This was my 1st time actually going into the 99 market. My son took me, and I absolutely love it. You can find absolutely anything g and everything you may need to indulge your Asian pallet as well as international foods. Their fresh meat and seafood area are unbelievable. Their prices are great. Just be aware that there is no way you're coming out spending under a hundred. Above yes, but under never, and I'm here for it. It is cold inside because of their refrigerated sections that run all through the back wall of the store and wrap around to the fresh seafood area. They also have a small food court with 3 food vendors.

I have been shopped here for so many times, I don’t know their policy until last night when I tried to return some meats. Well, it called fresh whole chicken cost $15.99, it’s very common item that I used buy a lot. When I returned home, it’s about half hour later after purchase make. I opened the fresh chicken, I know it’s not fresh but it’s used to taste and tender after cook. But unlucky, when it’s opened with smelly, I hate to say that. But it’s too bad to smell it, I will 100% get sick if I eat it, so I decide to make this phone call, I will tell you this is upgrade my knowledge in my life. I told to a store manager about it and try to bring it back for a refund, I told her it’s smelly and I can’t eat it. The words she used is why u buy it when it’s smelly, I mean yes, if I know it’s smelly of course I won’t buy it. She said it’s opened so she can’t do anything I do not need to bring it back she can’t refund anything since it’s opened. It’s wrapped by some plastic wrap, my point is you guys sales some bad smelling stuff to your guests and expect when your guest opened without a refund, for my understanding it’s as is, once you bought it and opened it it’s yours. You choose the item not what I asked u to buy it, this is unbelievably wrong. I also mentioned the receipt showing I can return fresh items within two hours, it’s not yet one hour. Her answer is only if you DO NOT OPEN. Well, you win the game. I will recommend all guests considering buying an fresh item before paying it, it’s very important!!! once you paid. It’s yours.

Google
Love this place. Go here for quality produce and Banh Mi Ba Le! Finally, I don't have to go to Dorchester for a great authentic Viet option.

Google
This place is huge I didnt smell anything not sure what other people were talking about the bahn mi place was closed I was bumed out but yea 1st time here they have large huge variety of things very excited to have found this place noodles rice pots teas spices drinks seafood dumpling frozen hot pot meat and fish balls you name it live fish and crabs fruits you don't usually see snacks like shredded squid yum anime and pokemon logo drinks bring your own bag or you pay 20 cents per bag cashier was polite you go in one entrance and go out a separate exit ill definitely go again great quality of instant noodle and regular noodles this place isn't hmart but it's still good

Google
This supermarket is extremely irresponsible! I bought expired products, and they refused to issue a refund. Even worse, the pastries I purchased were moldy, and there was no production date anywhere. There is absolutely no guarantee of food safety—very disappointing! I won’t be coming back!

Google
Has everything you want for an Asian market, just don't ask any of the workers if you can't find anything because "no I don't know I don't know, no" not even in Chinese, not in any language. He didn't even look at me, he ignored me the first minute until he couldn't because I was obviously standing in front of him. I didn't even get to ask him fully and he already doesn't know. He just doesn't know man 😅

Darren Costa

Google
This store offers a unique selection of specialty products that are hard to find elsewhere, which earns it some credit. However, the customer service leaves much to be desired—not only is it unhelpful, but you may even encounter outright rudeness. Additionally, the store’s cleanliness is a significant issue, particularly around the cafeteria area where ready-made food is served. The lack of hygiene in this space is especially concerning and detracts from the overall shopping experience.

Steve J. B.

Yelp
Very good all. Parking is ample and people are helpful across the board. They have home goods odds and ends like bob's discount from formerly Revere.

Hank C.

Yelp
While big, it is a touch more expensive in American groceries and sometimes cheaper for Asian produce. They have a large aisle of Asian snacks but mostly concentrated on Chinese and SE Asian snacks. Japanese snacks are a bit absent. They have lines for cash only and then checkouts for the rest which you wait. The fresh fish and seafood area is beside the produce. A small food court, too.

Annilyn T.

Yelp
Came across this store since it's the closest Asian supermarket from home. Speaking about my shopping in there in general it wasn't a bad experience. The place is pretty clean and they have a pretty good selection of food. They also have some food court that have food if you get hungry. The reason behind my one star is that most of the drinks I got was expired. Wasn't able to take a picture of the other drinks I got but I got this strawberry milk. Everything is written in Chinese on this boxed drink. But I'm pretty sure that's the date. I don't know if they are taking advantage of the people not knowing how to read in Chinese characters or whatever but if people get sick drinking those expired beverages it's going to be in them.

Ming Z.

Yelp
The reason I gave one star is because the mini moon cake I bought here today is bad , I think the oil for making this product is bad . They should stop selling this crappy product , 2 for $3.50 to lure customers to buy this awful food shows they don't care about what they are selling , don't care about repeat customers either .

Bichen Z.

Yelp
Overall it is a good go-to grocery shopping place for Chinese residents. It sells all varied kinds of Chinese vegetables, snacks, diaries, and seasonings. It also provides additional choices about Korean, Japanese, and Indian groceries. In terms of pricing, the Chinese grocery is comparable with other Chinese supermarkets in the greater Boston area. It is slightly more expensive than other newly opened supermarkets in Quincy, but it is more convenient for residents who live on the north shore of Boston and even in New Hampshire. The business hours usually start from 9 AM until 7:30 PM, which is not correctly reflected on Yelp. The business owners definitely maintain their hours more on Google maps. They no longer provide paper or plastic bags for free. Please make sure you bring in your own if you want to save a couple of dollars on wrapping up.

Yelp
I don't understand the low rating. They are extremely clean compared to the other local store. Everything is very organized and well stocked. The employees are so very kind and try to help the best they can even if they can't understand they work hard to help you. Soooo much variety and amazing deals. I love the unique snacks and love trying something new every time I come. Fish on certain days is fresh out the water other days.its good but I have gotten a few bad ones . Not rotten but the start of having a fishy smell. Always look for crystal clear colored eyes on fish. Not red. Especially not cloudy. We love it. For my kids and I we come here as a hobby hahahaha. We love getting canned bubble tea, seaweed snacks and can make so many meals from the fresh vegetables and tons of dumpling etc choices . Our absolute favorite place now for over 10 years

Marni M.

Yelp
I've been coming here for the past 6 years. Their cafeteria food is bomb and is reason enough to make the 20+ min drive. They have the largest variety of Asian foods available around me including produce, seasonings, sauces, noodles, drinks and more. Service can be pretty straightforward but is expected when walking in. At checkout they will charge 20 cents per bag so if you're going to do some heavy duty shopping make sure to bring your own bags! Will always come back when trying to stock up on my Asian goods.

David R.

Yelp
OK so my original review was removed because somehow they considered my information is not correct so I'm going to be very careful with my wording on this rewrite. I have frequented here more than a few times. I think the store needs to spend a little bit more time on cleanliness. The staff are on the rude side. I tried to get in yesterday I was wearing a mask actually I was wearing a double thick bandanna and brand new gloves that I put on in front of the man standing checking people at the front door. He stuck his hand in my face and said something in Chinese this was extremely rude I was surprised and stood there in amazement for a few minutes and then try to reenter and he just kept putting his hand out to block me. It was about 15 minutes later but I realized my bandanna was not sufficient to enter this establishment which was a bit silly since the fellow at the door head on a cheap throwaway surgical mask that is paperthin has no ventilation has no filter and has no protection it is a one time throwaway cheap mask that they keep on the front reservation desk of all the hospitals for people to go in and out real quick my bandanna was folded double thick and provides much better protection. My problem with this is not that I was not allowed into the store my problem is that he was rude actually extremely rude and was not able to tell me what the problem was so I wasted 15 minutes standing at the door trying to figure out why I was not allowed to get into the supermarket because I saw multiple people leaving, right now at Market Basket stop and shop Shaws Price Rite all of the other supermarkets one in one out as is at all the other stores that are open right now why did he not let me in? I do not know maybe they should have someone that can relay the message at the front door he did not speak English I'm assuming it was my bandana. I do a lot of shopping as do my friends and I one hundred percent will not be going back to this location because of the rudeness of this employee. There are many other Asian markets available in the neighborhood which cater better to their customers. Overall on my other experiences here the prices are average. It's in a shopping center so there's plenty of parking. If it's not an emergency I suggest you go to a different location cleanliness here is mediocre. They should close this place down always dirty work as a rude and ignorant maybe because I'm not Asian I don't know but no one certainly treats me like that and Chinatown where I frequent at least two or three times a week totally ignorant workers here especially the guy at the front door maybe they should put someone that speaks English at the front door so people that don't speak Chinese actually understand what they're trying to say instead of me waiting 15 minutes for him to finally figure out that might be in dinner isn't a good enough facial cover to go into a grocery store I'll definitelyRecommend that no one I know shops here anymore which is probably a good 50 to 100 people just for sheer rudeness

Andrew C.

Yelp
Local and affordable Asian grocery store. Mostly Chinese focused inventory, but a few items from Korean, Japanese, and Indian cuisine can be found as well. Don't forget to bring your sustainable bags! COVID review: wear a mask, that's it.

Kelvin C.

Yelp
Be aware! We bought fried tofu there, and found out there were molds all over the food (pic 1), we went back to return. However, they initially denied our request. They told us we didn't stored well and their staff referred to us as "problem makers". We went to their shelf and found more molded foods (pics 2), they finally agreed to refund our food, but we rejected them and decided to expose this. Their staffs have a really bad attitude, and many of their foods are expired or don't have MFD on them. Please shop somewhere else unless you really want Asian foods and molded foods.

Yelp
Long Overdue! You can catch me shopping here at least once a week. What can I say? They literally have everything I need. There are condiments, noodles, sauces that I can only find here. So many random items that I've sampled. Prices are pretty competitive to other Asian markets I visit. There's usually a sale of some sort and if you buy two of the same items you're given a discount. I have a good stock pile in my pantry for this reason. You can never have too many srirachas Lol. I also frequent the food court. There's about 4 shops total. My favorite dish is the chicken steak with lemongrass over tomato fried rice at Lucky Fast Food. Try it! You'll be hooked. You can also find egg tarts from Chinatown at the Pho Deli counter. They sell out fast so head there early! The market itself is well organized, pretty clean, and well stocked. Everything is easy to find. They provide ample parking. Have yet to encounter an issue. The lines can be a bit long at peak hours. I advise you to go early morning or evening if you're in a rush. The main complaint I have is of the employees. They never want to assist me even when I ask for help. Maybe it's the language barrier? A couple instances, I needed an item located at the tip pity top shelf but the gentleman didn't understand. I proceeded to take the ladder that was laying around and grabbed the item myself. Talk about how much scolding I got from his native tongue....

Yelp
Alerting all Shoppers: This store refused to allow my father and his service dog into the store! He was able to provide all documentations including service animal tags and his dog was still refused to be allowed into the store. The lady at the counter rudely ignored him without any understanding of the American with Disabilities Act. When asked to speak to store manager, she ignored me. Very disappointing! Will report business to the U.S. Department of Justice. This is unacceptable!

Baobeikahbee L.

Yelp
I went to shop with my sister and we were being followed all over the store. I'm Asian with tattoos. It felt so uncomfortable being followed while shopping around. Terrible experience. Discrimination to those having tatts.

Cammie T.

Yelp
I called to ask if they accept EBT before i go in the store. They said YES! Until I paid then the cashier didn't even know what she doing and told me NO EBT IN THIS STORE and gave attitude to me. My first and last when to this store!!!

Js S.

Yelp
Zero star would be the appropriate for this business. I go to this store frequently, I know the customer service is bad and staffs are rude and unprofessional evert time I visit. I don't Care about that much until it happened to me again, yesterday I saw this long Japanese yam in the store, they have it on both packaged and the loose one. I decided to buy the loose one and went to the counter to make a payment. Somehow that yam split on to half in the basket, when the cashier rung the yam, she charged me $16 for 2lb. I did not understand her English I was thinking that weight 8lb, I told her can you take that out, she said since I broke into halves they are not going to take off . I keep insist her to take out but she did not. She called someone else I guess supervisor or whoever, again they both ignore my request. Later I decided to take it, when I came home and check the receipt, they over charged me for that yam. There was a clear sign for 3.99/lb and they charged me double. This is the first time ever happened to me ever in this grocery store, it wasn't the cook food just for the loose root vegetable they did not void the item. Never going to shop there any more. My request to everyone please double check your order before you checkout, they might over charge you.

Yelp
I wanted to update this review. The market has good selection of products, especially anything that is packaged. What this place is missing is good customer service or care about how their products are presented to customers. I purchased a previously frozen tilapia fish. After cleaning my fish, the fishmonger only used one plastic bag to hold my fish. Normally, at Hmart, they will use two plastic bags. So, I went to grabbed a second plastic bag from the produce section. Luckily, I did that because the fish punctured the first plastic bag and there were pools of blood in both bags. I never see this when I get fish at Hmart. It was so disgusting. Later, my husband steamed the fish and said it was not fresh. He cooks fish regularly and can tell when it's not quite right. Also, as I was checking out, the cashier didn't make an effort to wipe down the counter, and all of my dried goods got wet! It was so disgusting. I had to say something to her. She seemed rather clueless. I get the sense that the management doesn't train their employees at all about proper hygiene when dealing with raw or wet items. It's disappointing to see the lack of care to the products and customers.

Christina L.

Yelp
Every time I go here I can't help but pick up some Of the most useful, delicious and random food items! I love this store! The store carries items you typically won't see in any nearby market. Also, the food court is great, especially the ramen shop I definitely recommend anyone looking for Asian food items or just looking to spice up your cooking or taste buds to come down and try out 99 Asian Supermarket, you definitely wouldn't regret it!

Thanh N.

Yelp
if any one shop at this store they know. There is one register signs accept CASH only. when my mom paid with dollar bills along with some pennies and other coin. the cashier collects and so rude says not accept pennies and try make Me waiting and take care next customer behind me. So I'm so mad and yelling her why. i make her take care me first no matter what, I tell her pennies still money if not tell government collect all Pennie's back. She keeps telling me go any stores collect pennies. bottom line cashier at this store not respect at all. no supervisor at this store come out at all

Summer C.

Yelp
Definitely a decent and good sized supermarket with a lot of option. A minimum at the cash register to pay for a debit card. The HUGE downside to this place is there is no cart return in the parking lot for shopping carts. So when I came out to my car it looked like someone slammed a cart into the front of my car. This was not the only loose shopping cart. It seems as if the store does not have someone picking up these carts nor are the shoppers very considerate or friendly of other customers vehicles.

Moxi L.

Yelp
Love this place - way better than super88. The worker always helps me find where things are whenever I ask. They have decent house appliance items and plates as well as electronic devices. I got an usb lamp for $9.99 and you can charge your phone with it! It's great!!! Veggies are fresh and big selection of seafood and meats. Overall pretty well organized and clean. Pretty international selection of other Latin and Korean and Japanese seasoning!

Cathy B.

Yelp
I have been shopping here for a month.I felt that it was worth going even tho some things were strange.I bought a pair of slippers for $2.99 they were sized wrong so I brought them back. They wouldn't let me return them without a receipt. After I told them I just wanted to exchange them they said no.I explained I brought the wrong receipt and didn't live in Malden and couldn't make it back for another week. They said it would be ok. I returned a week later with a receipt. The same women went crazy on me and said she was going to call the police with her phone ECT.All of a sudden no one spoke English and lots of Asian speaking people were felling me around the store yelling in there languages that I didn't understand. It was awfull! They have a-10 in coustomer service. Some spelling is wrong but my T-Mobile phone won't let me correct it.Took pictures of all the mean people in there store..I asked for the manager over ten times he's never there.Thats what they told me.

Anna L.

Yelp
Took out the bunch of ong choi we got two days ago from 99 from the crisper drawer to make dinner tonight.. only to discover the entire center was rotten and slimy. Tried to salvage the rest but the whole thing smelled rotten and only suitable for the disposal. There goes $4 literally down the drain since they don't give refunds.

Stacia S.

Yelp
One of the best fresh seafood markets in the Boston area. Many options to say the least. Wish they had other locations cause I need one closer to where I live.

Timothy L.

Yelp
Poor service, low quality products and expired food. Recently I had a really unpleasant experience at 99 Asian Supermarket in Malden. The thing is I bought a cooking pot few weeks ago and the handle of the pot broken while I was cooking after only one week using. I went to market customer service to solve this problem but they reject me in a rude attitude. They claimed that the pot is not produced by market so they take no responsibility on this. They even kept on recording my girlfriend and me by a phone while we were in the market.

Nasty N.

Yelp
This place is awesome and have a huge selection of food. Support the small business restaurants during these covid times

Minh Hai N.

Yelp
Zero star for this market. The 99 market in Broadway Malden treats their customers in very bad and impolite manners, especially their manager. I understand their policies that is no return or exchange. However, I helped my mom buy the hair dye on Saturday, she remembers the wrong color number and asked them if we can exchange. I went there the next day which is Sunday only 1 day after I bought the item to ask for their understanding and let us exchange if not it's ok I will keep them. We do not even open any items; they are in original un-opened and broken plastic wrapped boxes. The manager talked to me impolite and assaulted way. She said I must know and remember exactly what I need to buy. She is very ridiculous, we are human not robots, we're sometime forgot and not 100% perfect. I don't know if she could remember 100% of everything. I have seen this market treating their customers in very bad manners many times. I also have experience1 time with their employees treating me impolitely. However, I don't want to complain because I understand people sometimes have bad days at work. Today, I totally know why their employees badly treat the customers because their manager treats customers in the same way. I won't go back to this market again anymore. I couldn't accept bad their customers service and ridiculous policies.

Phil C.

Yelp
I've been shopping here for about 2 years. They used to have a "Cooked Meats" area by the food court. But that was an independent vendor who's since pulled out. They used to have pastries, through Eldo Cake in Chinatown. Now that has ended. They used to have fresh made Rice Noodle (Chow-Foon), but they no longer carry it. I'm wondering if this is a sign that things aren't going well for the "99 Asian Market".

T N.

Yelp
0 stars. Stopped going to this place over a year ago. I live very close to this store and I now drive further somewhere else to buy my Asian grocery items. Would rather do that than support this disgusting business. They need a visit by the dept of public health. -mean/rudest most unprofessional people I have ever met. They purposely ring up your groceries extra here and there. I say purposely because they have done it more than once making me feel like I need to watch them when they scan my food. Who wants to go grocery shopping and feel like you need to double check the cashier all the time? Not me. Caught them a few times and told them they rang me up double for spices. Their response? "You want to grab another one?" If I wanted 2 bags I would've grabbed 2 bags. So no, return me my money-- they're not happy when you catch them so of coarse you get an attitude from them when you try to get YOUR MONEY BACK -before plastic grocery bags were a no go, they will purposely pack all your food into 1 bag.. I'm saying they will put your fish and meats in with your veggies and dried food. Like what? So I started putting my meats and fish into those clear single bags (knowing that they will contaminate my other foods by shoving everything into one bag) and what do they do when I go check out my food? Yell and say "those bags are for veggies only!!" Ok well, if you didn't contaminate my groceries I wouldnt have to do that??? Like what? How much are you really saving by doing this to people? -They will purposely hide rotten/very wilted veggies on the bottom and put a few good looking ones on top before they wrap it up for ppl to buy. So when you get home and open up the package you sometimes find all the stems/rotten veggies/wilted veggies at the bottom. This happened to me once a while ago with their shabu meat in the frozen aisle. If you eat shabu you know how important it is for the meat to be cut thinly. I mistakenly bought a package of shabu meat here only to find when I got home that they had put a few nice pieces on top and the bottom was disgustingly thick and they even threw in a few pieces of fat to make the weight higher before they weighed for pricing. Who the F does this except for the people here who clearly do not care for the quality of their food? Judging from some of comments it seems like they do it because they know the minute you leave you "can't return their food" -the store itself is dirty and disgusting. The floors look like they haven't been moped since they opened. Check your canned and dried food for expiration dates before buying.

Jiaxun C.

Yelp
Their items are very sufficient. And during the pandemic, they require wearing gloves and masks to ensure safety and social distancing.

Frances Valerie C.

Yelp
I took two stars off because they don't have shrimp crackers. Seriously? Every asian market has shrimp crackers! The crackling ones that you can find in Indonesia...sigh.. ok I know that's a preference but come on! Other than that it has what you need. A food court (definitely a plus so I added back a star LOL), a wide seafood and meat counter and a very wide frozen food section. I don't like going by the end of the seafood line where I see more exotics for sale and sometimes it's hard to look at the seafood section in general because I feel bad for the fish. BUT other than that they have a wide selection of asian ingredients in large aisles. Definitely worth a visit - and stop by the food court you won't be disappointed.

Tracy B.

Yelp
So when this place opened I was like Ugh, whatever... Not realizing how lucky one day I would soon become. So it has been open some time & I always "Meant" to get there but it just was never happening, but then one day I needed something (Fish) related & thought I should run in... Now I had read many reviews on Yelp about the place so I knew there was a food court like area... So I go in & you enter through what was the Exit when it was Stop & Shop and Heartland & Purity Supreme so I instantly feel like Im walking the wrong way (Hahaha, Heartland!!!) So I get in & the smells immediately make me hungry, you can smell all the bakery items (as its right near the entrance) and the food court smells... So I am only there for my one thing & not truly hanging out this trip so I run right to the GINORMOUS fish/seafood section & instantly find several options for what I want. There was soo much there, so many options... I happened to walk through Produce & it was also HUGE and all the items looked so good & fresh. I def plan to come back VERY soon and do I big shopping, the prices were cheap, the quality looked great. The amount of fresh fish was great. Cant wait to go back!

Ryan H.

Yelp
Nice brand new supermarket. The name is really funny one upping 88 by being 99. It is big and cold like a Super 88 but had better prices and inventory that reminded me of Ming's (now NY Mart). I will be going back for sure and bringing my sweatshirt.

Mimi S.

Yelp
This place is really close to my house it smells really bad inside all the vegetables are enormous they look genetically mutated ridiculously oversized especially the carrots but if you are looking for Asian and Caribbean spices most likely you will find them here but the vegetables look super sketchy would not trust buying any vegetables here I would much rather go to another Market for my veggies but I do purchase seasonings here

Kimchi C.

Yelp
Okay. Another typical Asian market. The only thing I wish they can do better is keep produce section a bit clean please.

Catherine R.

Yelp
Sushi & ramen is good. The traditional Chinese BBQ is alright I had better. The Lucky Fast Foods are out of smoothies but haven't tried their food yet. The Vietnamese restaurant have my coconut bread. Their smoothie good here. Overall, The food is decent and it's a food court quality! I like the supermarket, they have food that I would've have gone to Quincy but don't need to. It's a bit expensive but nice, the convenience & close.

Al S.

Yelp
Stopped by today for the first time. They have a decent food court with reasonably priced food. Good Asian grocery selections and a good variety of seafood. I'll be back!

Joe P.

Yelp
There are only 3 Chinese supermarkets in Malden. They are the 88 and 99 and WaFung. In the first beginning, we can buy best fresh veggies at the 99 Supermarket although their prices are some higher than the others. However, their quality is becoming worse and worse. Their veggies are packed in bags. For many times, I found they put fresh veggies outside layer and yellowish veggies packed in the center. From now on, I won't buy their veggies packed in bags anymore.

Yelp
I bought 2 packs of wonton noodles from 99 Asian Supermarket. I noticed there were green mold inside of the 4 bundles of noodle in each pack. The noodles smell like decaying dirt when I opened the packaging. I immediately looked for the expiration date on the packaging but there's none. Who knows how long these noodles were rotting on the shelf in their refrigerator. Good thing that I noticed the green mold, rotting odor and didn't eat it. Otherwise I would of been in the ER or maybe died of food poisoning. I also bought a fresh whole chicken and it was far from fresh. There was a clear jelly slime film substance on the surface of the entire chicken and it smelled like rotten eggs. The chicken must of been in the refrigerator for who knows how long. It must of been rewrapped because it still had a good sell by date on the wrap. Make sure you closely inspect everything you buy from them for your health sake. I don't want anyone especially the elders to get sick or die from their bad business practice so I will need to report this health hazard to the City of Malden Health Department inspectors.

Yelp
Bought an chilli sauce (tiger brand) last week and found out the expiration date is 04/25/15. Brought it back to customer service (Sunny and Ammy) and receive an agressive when i have a conversation with a mother buying expired milk too. Horrible experiences of customer services, expire products and arrogant attitude toward customers. I mean, they typically were shouting at me for 4 minuetes (Sunny) and then try to stop the conversation of me and the mother. How on earth could you sell a expired milk product for people in need. Its killing our children. Im going to fill out an complaint to OSHA soon as it gotta be stopped with this business ethic (low cost= low, harmful quality products)

Yelp
Hurray. Finally an alternative to 88 and Hmart. It was quiet (on Easter Sunday), but it is extremely clean (for a Chinese Supermarket) and I found some hard-to-find Sichuan hotpot sauce brand spices. Even the vegetables weren't junk - Watch out other markets. Hopefully this place can keep it up. It is close enough to my home.

Yelp
I bought the jello 2 for $7.99, but when I pay , they charge $4.59 each, so I ask them price is not right, the cashier just walk away to another register not coming back & not said nothing for 10 minutes and also is long line , and then I went to customer service to talk to them, they didn't do anything, just refund $ not let me buy, I am very disappointed very bad customer service

Yelp
No real complaints about this Chinese Supermarket. Yesterday we stopped in after shopping in the area and I have to say that we actually loved this supermarket. Some of the high points were their selection of fresh seafood and meat as well as their decent selection of hard to find fruits. When it came to their other merchandise, I thought that they had an incredible selection at reasonable prices. The only true complaints I had were around the service and parking lot. The service here was a bit lackluster and it seems like the staff has limited tolerance for questions. Additionally, the parking lot was a mess and we almost got hit twice. In the end, I loved this place and will be back, but I will make sure that we come prepared with limited questions.

Yelp
At first, I was impressed by its qualities and management, but today it is getting worse and worse. last Sunday I bought some yellow peach but none of them was good. I dumped it all without eating. It looks good and fresh outwardly but it's rotten inward. So don't buy the yellow peach in this mart otherwise you will lose money like me.

Yelp
an update to my experience from just now. I bought a bag of peapods vetables from the store at 2.29 a pound. It was pre-bagged and looked good. just opened the bag and found that the inside, the middle part is all rotted and browned. i bought over two pounds and only less than half is edible. such scums that they trick customer like this. i think this is something that do at chinese market w/fruits mostly but this is the first time i experienced w/ vegetables. just a word to all of you out there, open the bag and examine the parts you can't see just to be sure. it is unfair to be paying rotted vegetables. this is injustice!

Yelp
This is my go to Asian grocery store when I want to stock up on a lot of stuff. It has a nice little food court inside but I wouldn't go there just for that. It's not really anything special. There is a ton of parking and there's never any need to find a spot. That is one of the best things about any establishment. I'm not a fan of the location, but it's not too bad. It's a pretty big store and has a huge meat and produce selection. They have anything you'll ever need meat wise. They even have live turtle and frogs. There are things in this store that you won't find anywhere else, unless you go to chinatown. The downside of this place is that they are somewhat pricey. Especially for American made stuff which is weird. All the foreign items are cheaper than the American items. The place is kept pretty clean and it's never really too busy where you're feeling congested like in Market Basket or Stop and Shop. I hate going there on the weekends, it's just such a hassle. Overall, I really like the place.

Yelp
I would like to commend the management of 99 supermarket. I was extremely impressed at how seriously they took the saftey of their employees and customers when shopping today. During this difficult time from the Coronavirus they handed out plastic gloves to each customer as well as some form of protective face mask. All of their employees wore protective masks and gloves! Great job!

Yelp
Caution to Customers! "It is your fault," Fang, Asian 99 manager. This is the response from the manager. We paid for our groceries and came home to find that a few of our items were not in the bag. We called the next morning and called a few times before getting a person on the line. Her name, sounded like Linda or something. She flat out did not want to help, but eventually said would look at the store camera. We then went to the store and spoke to the cashier. She said, "You no left here. Nothing here." Walked away from us. We asked for the manager and "Linda" came and went away. A few minutes of waiting, she came and showed us the recording of the camera. We all witnessed the cashier and the bag person (he). He bagged and left the bag aside. The missing items can be clearly seen being bagged and put aside. The bagger did not bother saying, "excuse me, you forgot," - no gesture. He just stood there. After watching the footage, Fang and Linda both told us, you left the food here, it is your fault. We reasoned that this was their shop, their premise and the food was left on their premise, and we should get the items we paid for. They both flat out refused. The amount we lost was a little more than $11. Asian 99 lost business from not only us, but more than 25 families in the area. Fang and Linda: Not sure what kind of business you are running, but you made a huge mistake. Store owners: Fang and Linda are a liability to your business. We found out that better Business Bureau (BBB) has negative reports on Asian99 and we will add to that list. Shoppers: Beware! This should be 5 minus stars.

Yelp
Meat department staff are ridiculously lazy, sometimes I wonder what the heck did they got hired for? It's like a fishmonger that don't clean/cut fish. The guy told me to pay for the duck and come back and he'll cut it. Long line, paid for, came back and another guy said "no, we don't cut". What a waste if time. If the management team get to this post, please tell them what's their job is. 88 have no problem cutting stuffs up for me.

Yelp
I really like this store. It's similar to Super 88, but less "stink" (c'mon, you know what I mean) and less food court vendors... but a much nicer presentation and perhaps even better prices. The aisles are nicely laid out and always kept clean. Plenty of variety. Prices on the produce are hit-or-miss, but you can definitely find more unusual (to my western eye, that is) traditional eastern produce here than you can at, say, a Russo's. Their seafood section is pretty darn amazing. Worth checking it out, definitely! BONUS - their parking lot is huge, so no fighting for spots like at an H-Mart (apples to oranges? Korean to Chinese?).

Yelp
They are charging inflated prices for Lysol Wipes,Wet Naps, and vinyl gloves. A complaint to the Attorney Generals office will put a stop to this.
