"I read that 99 Ranch will replace the Super H Mart at 10780 Fairfax Boulevard and is expected to include a food court that could feature a bakery, hot sandwiches, specialty drinks, and a vegan counter." - Gabe Hiatt

99 Ranch Market, one of the best places to experience authentic Chinese flavors right here in the DMV. From freshly made premade Chinese dishes that taste just like home, to warm and fluffy Chinese bakery favorites, refreshing drinks, and a wide variety of unique ingredients you won’t find anywhere else — this market really has it all. Whether you’re here to grab a quick bite, pick up your favorite snacks, or discover something new, 99 Ranch is the perfect spot to explore delicious Chinese food culture. Great price, ok customer service, convenient location.

There's a good bakery and food court with plenty of seating. The hot deli in the back is really good if you get there around 11 when it's freshly cooked. The best orange chicken I've had, it was fresh and crispy and not too sweet. If you get a combo plate, the boba is only $1! What a deal! The store is organized and lots of variety. A little expensive compared to other Asian markets. They have the most selection of Japanese snacks and Japanese beauty products compared to all the other markets. More selection than Marufuji in Tysons.

Came here for the first time and was really impressed of the size of this store compare to the one in Las Vegas. I found everything that I needed and more! I love that they have more than a few restaurant plus bakery in the store. I bought some dumplings at the Dumpling restaurant there. Price was reasonable. I also loved their sesame pancakes!

This location is performing BAIT AND SWITCH and FRAUDULENT BUSINESS PRACTICES. I live three hours from that store and had a friend go to Nova today. She helped me buy two lobsters. Both with both claws attached and very much alive. She asked for ice since she’s traveling far before he weighed and bagged the lobsters and she stopped paying attention after that. I just received the lobsters after her three hour drive back and one of the lobsters was missing a claw and half dead already while the other was still active. I weighed it and my two lobsters are short .565 lb. He definitely switched it while bagging. This is ILLEGAL!! I WILL be reporting to the VA AG office and the Weights and Measures office. And I will be personally paying them a visit.

99 Ranch Market, owned by Tawa Supermarket, is a well-known American supermarket chain. It was my first time visiting, and I was blown away by how huge the market is and the endless options they have. Honestly, I felt a little lost deciding what to buy because everything looked so fresh and tempting—fresh fish, vibrant vegetables, and so much more! There were so many food stalls with delicious dishes that I got completely confused about what to eat and what to try. Later, we had lunch with chicken and shrimp fried rice. I couldn’t explore everything today, but I’m definitely going back with more time to spare. I’ve taken a few pictures from today’s visit and will share a short video soon. For now, here’s the address I’ve added to the post for anyone interested! Highly recommend checking it out! 🛒

Lots of great sales going on on a regular basis. Good selection on fresh fruits and produce. Lots of Asian snacks as well, which is bad for you if you are on a diet haha The store is clean, well organized. Some of that cashiers from the Mainland can definitely use additional training on customer service. But otherwise this is definitely one of the very few grocery stores that are nice and clean.

Google
99 Ranch Market in Fairfax, VA, is an impressive Asian grocery store that offers a comprehensive shopping experience, perfect for anyone in search of authentic ingredients and unique food items. The store has an expansive selection that truly covers everything you could imagine, from everyday staples to hard-to-find specialty products. One standout feature is the food court, which serves up a variety of freshly prepared meals perfect for a quick lunch or a last-minute dinner. Whether you're craving a warm bowl of noodles, rice dishes, or other Asian favorites, the food court offers tasty and affordable options that hit the spot. The fresh meat and seafood sections are equally remarkable, featuring everything from razor clams and whole black raw chickens to shabu shabu cuts, giving you access to high-quality products for any Asian-inspired meal. Frozen foods are a highlight here, particularly the large selection of freshly made dim sum. It's an excellent alternative to dining out at a restaurant, offering great value for those who want authentic flavors at a fraction of the price. 99 Ranch also stocks a solid variety of Asian alcoholic beverages, including sake, baijiu, and soju, adding to its impressive range of products. The prices are reasonable and very much in line with other Asian grocery stores like Hmart, making it a reliable go-to for all your shopping needs. Overall, 99 Ranch Market in Fairfax is a fantastic Asian supermarket with everything from fresh ingredients to prepared meals, all at competitive prices. Whether you're shopping for groceries or looking for a quick meal, this market delivers on both quality and convenience.

Google
The staff at the seafood section of this market are the most dishonest I’ve met. I bought three live lobsters last weekend and I asked their Mexican fishmonger to steam them. When I got home, I realized that two of the lobsters were missing their claws. I paid a lot of money for three whole lobsters I watched the staff pull from the tank but I got them with missing appendages. No wonder their staff had a grin on his face when he handed me my steamed lobsters in a paper and aluminum wraps in a plastic bag. I’ll never come back to this store again.

Yelp
99 Ranch feels the same everywhere. Its the go to supermarket for Asian groceries, produce, sauces, snacks, etc. They also have a bakery and food court inside with solid food and deals.

Yelp
My husband introduced me to this store in San Diego, so I wanted to compare them. I don't remember the Chula Vista store having a little food court. But then it was five years ago when I visited. The store was clean. Didn't smell as fishy as other Asian markets I've been to. We did not make a purchase. We just came to check it out.

Yelp
Stopped here for the hot Deli in the back. Enjoyed some lunch items, and man, was it a bargain. We had crispy pork belly, which was so good! We had a combo meal with 4 different proteins and some lo mein. Best bang for your buck at lunch time. We would def return. Jake n kev

Yelp
Great place for asian groceries, be sure to utilize their app and senior or student discounts!! Not as cheap as some other places but cheaper than the more well known brand grocery stores (h***t)

Yelp
I went to Ranch 99 to sample some of the food stalls. I tried 2 stalls. The one in the front to the right call Lilly's dumpling. Tried their large scallion pancake, pan fried buns, and their spicy mung bean noodles salad. The scallion pancake is thick and doughy. Wished it had more scallion. Their pan fried pork buns and mung bean salad is excellent. We also got couple of dim sum entrees at the back hot deli section at the back. We got the steam char sui bao and shrimp stuffed pepper. The better was the shrimp. The bao was very doughy with chopped up char sui. Frozen ones are better. Finally we got some of the roast pig and roast pork. Those were the worst from everything we tried that day. The roast pork is dry and jerky. The roast pig skin looks crunchy but it is actually chewy. I would not purchase anything from the meat hanging stall at all. All self service so remember to get your chopsticks or utensils along with napkins from stalls that you purchase your food. Also bring your water or buy a 6 pack of water inside the grocery store.

Yelp
Love this market, my daughter-in-law recently came over from Asia. I was able to take her and she was able to find all the ingredients she needed to make her favorite dishes for all of us.

Yelp
Yes, there are a lot of Asian grocery stores in the area (Hmart, Great Wall, etc), but I find myself going to 99 Ranch the most for the exclusive Taiwanese items they sell. Pros: -I've been able to find almost everything I need for my Chinese/Taiwanese cooking -produce tends to be in better condition than Hmart and Great wall and pretty reasonably priced -no minimum requirement for card (unlike Great Wall) -well labeled aisles for the most part -all raw meat is packaged so the interior doesn't smell as bad as say Hmart or Great Wall -large selection of raw meat and seafood all packaged well -food court area in front with a bakery - the restaurants tend to turnover pretty quickly but the staples are the bakery and Onezo bubble tea shop -Onezo is consistently a great bubble tea shop -have a bbq vendor too for ready to eat food -plenty of the popular Asian snacks -wide selection of seasoning mixes -has an aisle for Asian household goods -interior overall is pretty clean -loads of space for parking Cons: -checkout lines tend to be long with very few open at a time -pretty much no one ever mans the Customer Service counter so any returns/issues you have to wait in line with other people checking out -reward system is hard to cash out on (you have to spend something like $1000 to just $10 savings - literally 1%) -limited alcohol options especially compared to Hmart Wish: -would like them to stock more Japanese beers like Asahi and Sapporo -if only they would carry the New Science Noodle a crisp biscuit Snack 統一 科學麵

Yelp
Came here trying to find the viral mango ice cream but it's not here yet so I explore the market a bit. Plenty of parkings, plenty of registers, they also have several places that have food you can grab. My cashier was quick and fast when ringing me up as well. I got a $8.99 box (2 meats, noodles , and a vegetable). Pretty good pricing. Would deff come back here as they have very fresh vegetables and seafoods and clean market!

Yelp
The 99 Ranch in Fairfax is a decent place to find Asian groceries. The selection is a bit more limited than larger markets like Lotte, but it is still decent. They have a Cafe area for pop up restaurants, but the past few times I have been in 99 Ranch they've been mostly vacant with the exception of the Hot Deli, Bakery, and the Boba stall. If your plan is to eat at 99 Ranch I would highly recommend coming early to make sure the food from the Hot Deli is fresh. We've come in the afternoon and most things were gone. What was left was kind of stale and not great. On the other hand, if you come in the morning the dim sum is pretty great. The big Sesame balls filled with red bean and the turnip cakes were our favorite. It's certainly the best price for dim sum that you'll find in Northern Virginia.

Yelp
This is a pretty well stocked Asian supermarket with a great variety of Chinese grocery items - Authentic snacks, condiments, noodles, produce with Chinese vegetables, frozen dumplings and fish balls by the pound for hotpot, Asian beverages, even pots and pans! They also have the best authentic brands for mooncake. On the side a smallish food court that has a bakery with bubble tea, hot steamed buns, popcorn chicken, a variety of noodles and soup noodles, hibachi style dishes, and a hot food deli that serves dim sum items and hot dishes like beef and broccoli, tofu, fried rice and noodles, etc. Definitely a great place for dinner takeout. Overall good ambience, clean grocery that I would enjoy hanging out there lol

Yelp
Came in looking exclusively for seafood for Christmas dinner. They have a good selection and the lobster was moving, lol. I would definitely purchase. The tanks were clean and the gentleman behind the counter was extremely helpful. I was just browsing today. I liked the 'food court' options. I will definitely be back this weekend to grab a few lobsta'!

Yelp
99 Ranch is a nice alternative to Lotte and HMart and offers a wide selection of various household staples-- meats, dairy products, and produce, but I was particularly amazed by the range of snacks available on site. There's durian wafers, strawberry-filled mochi, choco banana Kit Kats, and more. Regardless of what aisle you visit, the selections available are numerous. There's also a number of shops inside the market to grab a pastry (Baker's Corner), bubble tea (One Zo), or Vietnamese food (Rolls Vietnamese grill). There's ample parking before the market that's shared with surrounding vendors like Ben Gong's and Bebop Grill.

Yelp
I visited this 99Ranch Market on a Saturday early afternoon. I left happy being able to buy everything I wanted all in one-go at a wonderful price. I spent total of less than $40 for the trip and the value of everything was just incredible. I was able to churn out more than dozens of pork chive dumplings, 3 different pots of Thai curry, tom kha gai, khao man gai, mechado, care care, nasi goren, palitaw, and everything one could dream of making at home. We drive about good 45 minutes from Maryland just to come here every weekend and it is worth it every time. They also have a wonderful bakery and eatery section as well as incredibly fast checkout. I am really used to the slow checkout service in Maryland so I am blown away by how quickly it is my turn every time. As in there's hardly ever a line even if the parking lot is jam packed with people and it's bustling inside. What also differentiates the 99Ranch store in Fairfax is the friendliness of employees. It isn't like Hmart where you feel like a criminal for asking for something. Yes, the produce aisle might not be the prettiest compared to Hmart but it's still worth the trip. Nowhere could I find a better value in hard to find kefir lime leaves or Thai basil leaves. Looking forward to returning again in the future!

Yelp
I was super excited when this opened up. It seemed to be east meets west, but the last couple visits, can't say the thrill factor is there. The fruit and vegetables are more expensive, and I didn't find the selection that they used to have. Yes I might have to re-evaluate this in the future, but I don't think it's supply related. What is good is the tilapia. This is one of my favorite fish to cook, and here you'll find it fresh. It's always on hand, and goes well with steamed vegetables especially. Yes there are some ridiculous rumors about this species, and all of them have been debunked. I will continue to buy tilapia here, and also the shrimp here and there. Other than that, decent staff although lines can be long. It's an alright grocery store.

Yelp
Came in to look for something in particular that was Middle-Eastern in nature and they had absolutely none of that type of food. In fact, they only have Asian style of foods, restaurants in the food court areas, and proteins. The place smelled of the fishy stuff they have. Service was ok. I wasn't impressed with the selection.

Yelp
Abigail was the Cashier that rang me out and unfortunately she shorted me a dollar no it is not a significant amount but nonetheless, it was a dollar that I was owed. I understand people make mistakes but not driving back for a dollar. Super disappointed at this experience because generally, I love shopping here.

Yelp
Anytime I'm out this way, I make sure to stop by 99 Ranch. The produce is always top quality and usually cheaper than other grocery stores, and they have a large selection of harder-to-find Asian ingredients. I love coming here to stock up on sushi rice, fancy soy sauces, frozen snacks and more. I also love the Chinese hot bar in the back and the bakery up front. I wish they'd get more restaurants into the food stalls, because I would spend all day here if I could! They also have a new points/loyalty card program and I highly recommend signing up for it -- I got a free boba ice cream last time because of it!

Yelp
3.5 stars.. They recently open. Place is very clean and bright! You walk in, in front youll see delicious pastries!! The desserts are absolutely delectable! To your right is their food court which is sort of disappointing. I wanted Ramen. So i go to Mians. I waited like 5 minutes to get noticed even though the noodle person saw me and could have said something or motion to get someone. Then comes the cashier, tall slender dude (30 something). Was not friendly. I order #6 duck ramen. The pics look inviting so I was like it must be good. When i got my food. No dialoge . I had to beg for utensils. No sauces except for fire chili sauce. My ramen... the worst I ever had. No flavor. No taste. It wasnt that hot. 90% noodles, 5 pieces of duck, scallions, and a huge bok choy leaf... smh never again. Both the older woman and guy need people skills... However the boba at One Zo, and they are friendly and fast!! The store is cheaper than most international markets. The seafood department is very clean and fresh!! $10.99 a pd for lobster? Yess please!! Despite my horrible lunch... ill still get some of my groceries here.
google avatar

Teresa L.

Yelp
The supermarket was well stocked with so many food items! There was one isle full of noodles and anther full of different goodies. Fresh veggies and food at reasonable prices. There was a food court but some of them were not open when we were there on a weekday. There is a bakery inside and a food stall that sells roast meats. Some dim sum were available too. Wish there is one near me as I would definitely be a regular customer. Lots of seafood and meat to choose from as well.

Yelp
I was beyond excited when I found out 99 Ranch Market was coming to VA! If you are doing traditional Chinese hot pot, 99 Ranch got you covered. They have all types of fish/lobster/shrimp/crab balls with many types of hot pot broth mixes and all the Asian groceries one can ask for. My guilty pleasure is the snack aisles with unique Lays chips flavors and other snacks that I haven't been able to find at Great Wall, Lotte, and H Mart. The aisles are pretty organized. I also like how they are packaging certain fruits and vegetables like the ginger and napa cabbage. It feels safer during a pandemic. The workers are wearing masks. I enjoy shopping here when it first opens. It gets pretty crowded toward lunchtime which is a downfall during a pandemic. When I shop the "senior citizen" hours (haha) the store is organized and well stocked. I just won't be able to catch the delicious food at their food court. In terms of the food court, I love the Filipino food and the bubble teas. I think the only issue is the crowds when it gets closers to lunch time. Chinese/Asian grocery store heaven!

Mary F.

Yelp
The cashier and her support are with bad service manner. I, a senior citizen, wanted to buy a 25 lb rice which is too heavy for me to handle, asking for help, both of them said: "If you can't carry it, DON'T buy today, next time come with someone who can carry it". It's really rude, can you believe it? Just curious if their senior mothers get treated like this when shopping other places.

Yelp
THE place to shop for authentic Chinese cooking needs. Especially if you want product choices for not just China.
google avatar

Keisha L.

Yelp
I think its safe to say, almost anything you are looking for you can find here!! I cam here looking for a specific candy having no idea if they would actually have it or not. Not only did they have it but I also found some other candies I not been able to find anywhere else. I am always in awe over how fresh the produce is!!! It is always fully stocked with a wide variety of offerings. I spend a lot of time walking up ad down the aisle as there is so much to take in and I feel like I find something new on every visit. I tend to come early in the am to avoid the crowds as it can get pretty packed in no time and its always busy, especially on the weekends. Although my visits have been limited to the grocery section, I will have to come back and check out the food court as I have been told there are some goodies to be found there too!
google avatar

Christina V.

Yelp
I haven't been to 99 ranch since it was an Hmart :( I miss you hmart! Anyway, this is the review for Food Court. Very yummy! We tried both the ramen place and the pulled noodle place. It was so good! The volcano ramen I got was spicy and the noodles were perfect! The pulled noodles broth was so clear and delicious! Nothing bad to say.
google avatar

Mac C.

Yelp
Fully stocked supermarket for all kinds of Asian themed cooking and supplies. There's a separate sweets counter from the rest of the store as you walk in. Note that you also pay for anything you pick out there at that counter that's cake / sweets from the front area. Supermarket is stocked full with vegetables, dry goods and meats / seafood too.

Yelp
No lie, visiting the brand new 99 Ranch Market was the most fun I've had in months! I am no stranger to Asian grocery stores but this West Coast based chain brings something new to our grocery carts! I spent a full hour walking up and down the aisles mesmerized by all of the new drink, snack, and frozen food options available. Everything was so cutely packaged -- they even had frozen bao shaped like little piglets. I almost died from all the cuteness. Overall the store was pretty easy to navigate but I wish they would do something about the food court area. It was SLAMMED when I went and while they had social distancing stickers on the floor it was quite hard to figure out where the start of one line was and where it ended. Guests were quite aggressive and staff was unhelpful either when you tried to ask them for help.
google avatar

Marissa D.

Yelp
Honestly it's a zoo in this place. They opened a few months ago and they haven't slowed down since. Avoid it at night. Covid regulations are in place but it's still too crowded. There's a whole variety of little stalls where you can get an array of fresh foods as well as regular groceries. It's quite a bit more aesthetically pleasing than the H Mart it replaced. I got two boxes of brown sugar boba popsicles--I know, just like everybody else--and maybe because it was such a popular item, it was totally melted and disgusting. Both boxes. I returned them with no problems but it was still disappointing. I tried the sushi and it really wasn't that good. H mart's is better--Giant's is even better if I'm being honest. It might not be their specialty. My husband was pretty happy with his ramen though.

Yelp
BEST FISH in the DMV We eat a lot of fish in my house. My Desi/Indian husband is a huge seafood lover, he grew up in a coastal city of India where the fish is freshly caught and the price is extremely reasonable. We love 99 Ranch's Fish. They have a good selection of fish, in their fish department in Gaithersburg. The fish department in Fairfax is fantastic. The VA store is a newly opened location and their fish department is Out of this World. Living in Maryland, it's relatively easy to find MD Blue Crabs in the Summer. Finding fresh fish can be a challenge. We use to frequent another Asian Market a few years ago but the selection of fish got worse and worse, until we finally stop buy fish from them. Thank you 99 Ranch for bringing fresh fish, seafood and delicious vegetable back into my life. We can now enjoy a healthier more pescatarian lifestyle, because of your stores' fresh selection of high quality seafood.

Yelp
This used to be super H Mart but honestly this blows it out of the water, and I'm not speaking just as a former California Stan. Everything is hella spacious - all the meats and veggies were super clean plus some of the bougiest soy sauces I've seen. Plus the food court alone looks stacked - Mian pulled noodles, a bakery, plus a couple more. Homemade boba will be coming soon so I'll be excited for that. Right now it's kind of Disneyland levels in terms of the line, but this will absolutely be my go to Asian store in the near future.

Yelp
Newly opened 99 Ranch in Fairfax: clean, well organized, welcoming, refreshing. No "Asian market" disgusting smell. Clean and modern! Spacious and nicely laid out. Found some beautifully lacquered bento boxes (see photos), unique yogurt / passion fruit ice cream bar (on a stick), macarons, enticing cakes (at the bakery), exquisitely wrapped dumplings, skin care face masks, and lots of other stuff that you can't find anywhere else.

Yelp
Yea so happy there is a ranch 99 local to me right here in Fairfax! I grew up in Cali and I'm also happen to be Chinese so I used to go to these markets ever since I can remember. After moving here, I missed going to Ranch and instead having to drive out to the Eden center for a similar Chinese market. Anyways so glad it's here and it has pretty much all I want for veggies, food, etc. it's nice and clean and has a great food court!

Mike M.

Yelp
It was better (and cleaner) than some other Asian grocery stores I've been to. I had lunch there and the food was good. The service was also good. The prices are reasonable.

Yelp
One of the OG Asian grocery markets, but still keeping up with the times. Nice package deals for catered banquet style meals for large groups during holidays and fresh produce. Butcher and seafood section does not have a strong odor like some of the older establishments, also carries diverse selection of newer products as well as the classics. A wonderful bakery with fresh breads and pastries: cake rolls including passion fruit, green tea, and durian, Taiwanese toast in red bean, taro, and carrot varieties, and expertly decorated cakes that rival the aesthetic of Korean bakeries. Food court includes a Taiwanese noodle shop and boba tea joint that are above average, Filipino fast casual joint recently folded, and I think there may be one other that I can't recall possibly Japanese ramen or sushi. Why 5 stars? The all you can stack mixed plate for $10.59. You pick a bed of rice, rice noodles, or lo mein, and then the fun begins where you begin to assemble your mounting volcano of anything they have available in the hot bar and as long as they can close the lid on the square styrofoam tray, you have yourself enough food to last a minimum of 2 if not 3 meals. My strategy is to start with a layer of the saucy items as level 1 to get absorbed into the noodles/rice, grilled meats for level 2, veggies for level 3, and then fried items like wings, prawns, and fish up top at level 4 to avoid sogging them up. Pro-tip: be kind to the folks behind the counter, I witnessed quite a bit of verbal abuse especially from the Asian clientele (disgrasians), if they don't get your order right or forget something, either let it slide or gently ask them to make it right since they will do so without attitude or objection.

Yelp
So excited I was in town to experience this market! The food court menus looked amazing but I settled for the Filipino food + dim sum bar. I got the Adobe pork belly pancit which was amazing :) I do wish there was more veggies and pork belly. The dim sum bar was okay. A bit expensive for what the dumplings were. The shrimp dumplings were okay and alittle cold, the fried spring rolls tasted the best and the pork bun was just alright. Def. Go with the other restaurants then the bar. It was good to try though! Would like to go back and try the ramen and boba next time :)

Yelp
Its about time that 99 Ranch comes to NOVA. It's great to find a lot of Chinese products VS Korean products. Clean and modern. Tons of choices. Loved the fast food section. Its just like being in the west coast all over again.

Eva R.

Yelp
Vegetables are not complete, I have to go to another store to find the long beans I need which the other store have. Also the teller was asking me to get a pack of the soda I got from the fridge while in fact it comes single, and then when I finally pay, teller said that my phone number was not working because I'm not a member and did not even offer me to be a member. Poor customer service. I will not come back here again, my first and my last.

Yelp
3/5/22 For some reason, I did not think of this place as an Asian Market. No, it is more of an international market, but most of the clientele are Asian/ Asian American. The other thing I noticed is Hispanics and Asian seem to dominate the work force. I wonder why other ethnicities don't work at these stores as much. Simply answer?, Or is there more to it? Just a thought. A lot of time was spent in the vegetable section and I was feeling cold from the Italian Ice I drank. Some times I dislike shopping with my wife, because it takes a long time to make up her mind on what she wants. Sometimes as a guy or a gal it can be a hit or a miss trying to help your partner. Looking around the store, I saw a well oiled machine at work. The stocking, shelving and organization was spot on. I don't recall seeing dirty floors either. There were some price increases, but I could tell for everything. I did notice the Vanilla Panda cookies went up a dollar though. The portable stoves I saw here makes me think of my characters using several tool to cook a meal while camping in the wilderness for special meals. I did not see the mini propane tanks to use for the portable stoves. I wonder where they were placed. These portable stoves were sold for $29.99. The insides of the stove are Black and Purple... just kidding. They were black and red. I haven't eaten the food at these mini restaurants, but I might one day. In the meantime, we will be back. I just hope the fish smell isn't around when you enter the store next time. It might be coming from one or more of the restaurants, but if it isn't, No bueno.

Yelp
A few weeks ago we visited this market for the first time, & I honestly don't know exactly where to start, except to say that with all the Asian cooking I do, this place had me like a kid in a candy shop. Large, well-lit, organized, & best of all - CLEAN. Oh - & it was WONDERFUL to see that EVERYONE - customers AND employees - were all masked!! Cuisine breakdown seems to be fairly equally split between Korean, Chinese, & Japanese, with a minor smattering of India, Philippines, & others thrown in. Produce was beautifully displayed & FRESH. The hands of fresh ginger I bought were full, tender, & non-fibrous - no peeling necessary, & this wasn't "young" ginger. Taro bulbs were equally tender, & greens were perfectly fresh - not a wilt or yellow leaf in sight. I was able to procure every item on my list, including the duck, rock candy, dried tangerine peel, & other items I needed for our Chinese Moon Festival feast (including the necessary beautiful & tasty Moon Cakes). And that's not counting all the add-ons I felt I had to buy - lol!! Unbelievable variety of canned & jarred condiments, an absolutely STAGGERING selection of frozen dumplings of every possible type, ditto for fresh & frozen meats & seafood, fresh & frozen noodles, dried noodles & tofu skin, not to mention fresh tofu. . . . . really, I can't even BEGIN to list everything. Just suffice it to say that if you have an Asian recipe you want to try but are vacillating because you don't think you can find the ingredients? Fear not - 99 Ranch has them - even the most unusual. The only thing I must ding them on is their seafood department. It really didn't seem any different than other Asian markets we've been to. Several tanks with live fish, although all the tank water looked a bit murky, & a couple of tanks had dead floaters. Definitely NOT appetizing. A box of "live" Blue-claw crabs only had a few crabs still crawling around - the rest were belly-up & still. Yuck. And when we were there they were just stocking the on-ice fish counter - with all solidly FROZEN fish! One has to wonder how many times those fish thaw out & get refrozen to be displayed another day. Honestly - there wasn't one single thing in the seafood department I would have felt safe eating. They also have several prepared-food stalls with different offerings, & while we didn't partake, a lot of the items did look interesting & there were several people dining at the provided tables. Maybe next time - which there definitely will be. Employees were extremely friendly & helpful when we were trying to locate something. Our cashier even offered to get us a gift box for our tin of Moon Cakes in case we were going to give them as a gift! Bottom Line: We dropped a little over $100, but every penny was worth it. I usually have to buy my specialty Asian products on Amazon, & pay a lot more for them than I paid here. We will DEFINITELY be back. This is now my new "go-to" source for all my Asian necessities (apart from seafood - lol!).

Yelp
It's been almost 8 months since I've been to this location. Most of the restaurant stalls no longer existed. The dim sum carry out was open and already serving at 10:00am. The rows of groceries are overwhelming. It's nice to see the variety of things. Staff is friendly and cashier lines went quickly. Get there early because parking is always challenging.

Yelp
Good selection of fresh produce and fruit. I like how they offer the frozen hot pot meats such as the lamb shoulder in a roll-up option instead of only in slices like at most Asian grocery stores. Now I don't feel like I have to use up all of it in a day or two! It would be nice to see their food court continue to grow.

Yelp
I didn't get a chance to check the grocery side of the store, but all the eats and bubble tea they offer is so cool. Can't wait to come back and check the full store. Very very clean on the side where restaurants are

Yelp
Purchased five different types of meat/seafood and three out of five packages were rancid two days after the purchase and at least four days before the sell by date.

Yelp
This 99 Ranch grocery store is what dreams are made of! I had high expectations for this place and it did NOT disappoint at all. This was our number one spot to check out on our quick weekend trip to NOVA. We probably spent almost two hours here..! First off, this place has a food court! We both got boba drinks at One Zo and the drinks here were very good and fresh. We also got food from two of out of the 5 restaurants they had in there. We got some apps from the Japanese place and some food from the Chinese/noodle soup place. I would pass on the sushi from the Japanese place but their karaage was good though. They also had a Chinese restaurant in which you could could get roast pork, duck, soy sauce chicken, etc. After having a great dinner, we walked around for a long time and picked up ALOT of snacks we can't find at our local Asian/international markets back home. Note, they do carry the Salted Egg Salmon Skin here...! We got that and the salted egg potato chips! Super expensive, but I think it's worth it. The stock here was plentiful, and everything was neatly organized. Just wished we had a place like this in Virginia Beach! Definitely coming back here again the next time we are in town!

Yelp
We've been back to 99 Ranch a few more times since opening month and I'm happy to see that there isn't an inventory issue anymore. In fact, we've been very happy with the selections and products. There are items at 99 Ranch that we don't see in other Asian markets, which is a big plus. The aisles are clean and organized. I love the drinks, snacks, and instant noodles aisles. There's always something interesting that I want to try. Recently we found fruit preserves and jasmine tea flavored tangyuan, which were delicious and perfect for Chinese new year. The food court is another big plus. A trip to 99 Ranch must include a stop to one of the various stalls. Overall, marked and noticeable change since opening week. It's now our go grocery store.

Yelp
It's great to have a Ranch 99 here, but....Not sure if this is a franchise or just not up to par to the California stores in regards to the hot food sections. They don't seem to change the cooking oil as the sesame balls taste like meat or fish. Great place to buy all of the green, leafy Asian vegetables and live fish missing in standard grocery stores.

Yelp
I came for the grand opening weekend. Coming in, you immediately see the bakery/hot foods section on your right, but you can also head over to the produce section immediately. There is a lot more space for the bakery/hot foods than there was when Super Hmart was at this location. I didn't try anything this visit, but I look forward to next visit, especially when all of the food places are open. I'm not familiar with how condensation affects baked goods, but I did notice that the cake displays had a lot of condensation going on. Since the grand opening crowd was huge and the operations were new, some of the food lines kind of got in the way of people actively shopping in the produce area. Overall, the produce section seemed like any of the other produce sections from the local Korean supermarkets although it was a bit smaller to accommodate for the larger dining area. The produce was generally fresh although like any supermarket, there were some produce with imperfections. I didn't spot any mold though unlike at other places. The seafood was set up differently than the local Korean supermarkets. Nearly all of the fresh seafood is stored and served by the seafood counter. While you lose the freedom to pick and choose the exact pieces and amount you want, I think this helps minimize unnecessary contact with both people and the open air environment. Fresh seafood ordering is done in one large area of the counter while weighing and pickup is done at the end of the counter where it transitions to the meat section. I wasn't kind sure where the line, if there was any, started so I just approached the seafood counter where the queue ticket generator was. I was handed a ticket and got served immediately. I don't frequently interact with employees at any seafood counter, but the employee that assisted me was very nice and efficient. There are so many types of shrimp here! The employee also thoughtfully double bagged my shrimp with ice (after asking) so it could stay cool as I meandered around the aisles. The seafood counter seems to offer additional services such as frying the seafood. That's also something I'm looking forward to trying next visit. They had a decent amount of meat selection although I didn't see any marinated meats. I'm not sure if I missed it or if they just don't have any. They did have some authentic prepared meals and side dishes (sticky rice in lotus leaf aka zongzi) ready for the fridge. Unlike other Korean markets, it doesn't seem like they preprepared meals and side dishes ready to eat such as kimbap, sushi, bento boxes, etc. They had a little bit of everything in each aisle that other local Korean supermarkets; however, some of the selections were more or less depending on the item. I have never seen so many brands for Asian sausages before! Checkout was fairly quick although I noticed a sign at the register warning all shoppers that all sales are final at this time due to COVID. I'm not sure if the other local Korean markets are implementing this policy as well, but I do understand the appeal in it. Overall, 99 Ranch Market is clean and feels very open. Depending on what you are looking for, the prices and selections can be good. They also have a rewards program! For now, I think I will make this place part of my weekly review when I decide where to shop for groceries. I just need them to actually show their weekly ads in their website! So far, I haven't seen any weekly ads for the Fairfax location although they did have the print ads posted around while I was waiting in line to get in.

Yelp
So so so excited that we finally have a 99 Ranch in Virginia! Being from LA this was one of my favorite spots. I went on a Saturday and It was busy! Everyone was wearing masks, but not a whole lot of social distancing possible unfortunately. 99 ranch is always a fun experience, it's like an Asian market version of Wegmanns. First stop was the boba spot, "One Zo" for a drink. I saw they had taro boba which I had never seen before! But since they were out, I went with the more traditional brown sugar boba In a One Zo Medium Tea ( I asked what the flavor was, it's black milk tea). I also asked for 25% sweetness and It was still really sweet, but super delicious! I would definitely get It again. I hope they have the taro boba to try next time! Then I visited Tamashii for some sushi and ramen. I got a basic avocado roll and the Volcano Ramen. The avocado roll was excellent, and I'd like to try some of their more elaborate rolls! The Volcano ramen noodles had a great texture, the egg could have been more flavorful, but the broth and pork were pretty good. Definitely wouldn't have described it as spicy though. Honestly, so far I've never had a better spicy miso ramen than from Boru in Arlington FYI but this was still good! I do look forward to trying some of the other food court items. I love all the options. Then was time for shopping. I have been wanting to make black miso cod (Nobu style) so I bought my first whole fish! The cool thing about the fish counter at 99 ranch is they will cut the fish however you want. I asked for steak pieces and kindly requested for them to cut the head off. I know It can be prepared to taste delicious, but I'm not quite there yet lol the guys working at the counter were very kind and accommodating. I perused the aisles and got some spicy instant ramen and bunch of other fun snacks. They also have an awesome produce section. I was able to get Mirin and miso paste for my cod recipe, but unfortunately I had to go elsewhere for the saké that the recipe called for because 99 ranch doesn't carry alcohol yet. I was told that they will soon though. Overall 99ranch is just a super fun experience and you can leave with some really cool and affordable items.
