16 Great Martinis to Drink in Boston - Eater Boston

"Inside Brookline’s longstanding tapas restaurant Taberna de Haro is Straight Law, a top-notch cocktail bar focusing on gin and sherry. It takes its name from the Straight Law cocktail, a classic from the 1930 Savoy Cocktail Book made with two parts dry Manzanilla sherry and one part Plymouth Gin. Naturally this is the first drink on Staight Law’s menu. And though it drinks like a martini, the two-to-one ratio of sherry to gin means that it’s a lower-ABV cocktail. “So you can have one and still have wine with dinner,” says owner Deborah Hansen." - Katie Faust Stryjewski

Yelp
Excellent Spanish tapas. Been coming here for years but the new owners have reinvigorated the restaurant with new dishes and a very friendly relaxed atmosphere. The outside patio is large, with lots of space for the tables. Highly recommended. And BTW the food is far better and more consistent than Barcelona restaurant, which is farther up Beacon St., in my experience.

Yelp
Came here for our anniversary and definitely will be back! Host was super sweet and food was amazing! We had the paella, calamari, roasted egg plant, patatas and white sangria. We definitely ordered too much food but it was all so good I don't know what we would skip out on

Yelp
Bar area is cute. It was upbeat vibes and this place was packed with people. Paella was great and good portion for two. Tortilla was huge and it was too much for us and also was bit dry. Flan was great tho!

Yelp
The staff were very nice when they could make time. Very high marks for service, though they could benefit from more people. The food menu is very long so I imagine there are some inconsistencies but unfortunately the food I ordered was pretty poor quality for the price and description. Drinks were fine.

Yelp
The garlic shrimp was absolutely delicious. All the dishes looked really nice. Great ambiance. When we went the staff was spread thin so it took time to get drinks and our check but the staff was very friendly.

Yelp
Great food, wine selection and intimate atmosphere. Great location for a date and a casual dinner. We've been coming here for years.

Yelp
I can't review the full dinner menu and tapas, as I only came here for the bar, but I did want to leave a review because it was a great evening. From 5-7pm Monday through Saturday, the bar does $2 oysters, and my partner and I had a whopping 24! We went on a Thursday evening and the atmosphere was great - not too loud or crowded, but not dead either. The service was amazing as well - the oysters came almost immediately after we ordered them and when we ordered the Sherry flight, the staff gave us a great explanation of each of the 4 drinks before leaving us to our food and drink. Oysters ($2 each) - I'm not usually a huge fan of oysters, but these were different from a lot of the others I've had in the past. They were slightly briny, but they also had a really sweet aftertaste that made them really pleasant to eat. They were served with lemon and also a little cup of vinegar - both options were good but I preferred the lemon. We started with 12 oysters and ordered a second dozen when we realized how good they were! Sherry flight ($30) - I had never had sherry before, but this was quite pleasant. The flight came with 4 different sherries and 2 croquetas which were tasty and filled with ham and bechamel. The filling was a bit dense, but not necessarily a bad thing. The four sherries were as follows, and my reviews are coming from someone who does not know much about sherry but enjoyed each one: - Manzanilla La Cigarrera - This was a light one with a very light alcohol taste. It paired nicely with the oysters. - Fino el Granero - This one had a slightly stronger alcohol taste to it, but it also paired nicely with the oysters. - Amontillado Rare Escuadrilla - This one tasted like a red blend and was my favorite of the four. It was nice to sip on after eating the oysters. - Olorosso East India Solera - This one was my partners favorite and tasted sweet. It almost had a taste like raisins, but it was quite pleasant. The order also came with bread, though I'm not sure if it was the drinks or the oysters that triggered the bread. The bread was nice, but they did not offer butter with it. Instead, you could have olive oil, but it was a fancy olive oil so there was a charge. We opted to just eat the bread by itself and it was nice - crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. All in all, this was a bit of an expensive night (we did eat a lot though!) but it was well worth it. I do know there are $1 oysters around Boston, but $2 oysters near our home is also a great deal. The sherry flight was nice to try, but I'd also like to try their gin and gin mixed drinks, as they are known for both their sherry and gin. I give this a strong 4/5 and we will definitely be back!

Yelp
Visited here recently, and was not overly impressed. We staff were a bit too casual in servicing tables while the food was of Spanish titles on the menu was really just an Americanized version of some Spanish dishes. Prices were somewhat high for pacifically that Americanized versions of Spanish dishes. I'm not really a beer drinker, but I did ask for their offering of nonalcoholic beers. Shockingly they said they carry none. Suggestion to the restaurant that they step into current times. Every single lunch and dinner establishment. I've been in over the past three years offers nonalcoholic beers. Sorry but this would be a No for me in the future.

Yelp
Amazing! Food, service, ambiance... an amazing neighborhood spot to spend a weekday or weekend. Will be back!

Yelp
Complete disappointment! I grew up in Spain and menu had the familiar tapas I loved, however weren't good. My friends ordered a particular wine and was served an open bottle that tasted like vinegar.

Yelp
This is a nice spot with good ambience - great for a fancier date night or professional dinner. But be prepared to shell out lots of money! It's basically a more expensive version of Barcelona with tinier portions. I'd recommend getting ~3 plates per person. Some highlights: - bravas - flan for dessert - gambas (shrimp) - goat cheese with toast (probably the highlight of our meal and very filling) I'd probably skip the cheese board as it contained a measly 5 tiny (but yummy) pieces of cheese. Probably a place you could visit once for a nice occasion - I probably won't be back often but enjoyed the meal.

Yelp
Taberna is my favorite tapas spot in the Boston area. I've visited 5-6 times now and am blown away by the service and food every time. Authentic, delicious food. Further they have a great sherry list. I believe one of the largest in the country!! Can't wait to be back

Yelp
Wonderful food, terrific ambiance, so much chorizo, and food representing every corner of Iberia. Loved trying different sherries. Thank you Maddie for a great dinner!

Yelp
The only reason this review is getting 3 stars is because there was one server for the night and she helped me charge my phone and get home when it was dead. Other than that the food service and bar service were extremely slow. I didn't bother ordering an actual meal because of it. I only ordered a meat platter appetizer and and wine flight that came with the croquettes. Wine flight came out like 50 minutes after. A group of men who's whole table got there after me were served a lot quicker than I was by myself. The wine flight wasn't even good. Again, I know it wasn't the server's fault, she was great given the circumstances. It's unfortunate that this place is around the corner for me and I won't be coming back.

Yelp
tapas were excellent, truly a hidden gem. service was attentive, set on a great street corner. the only thing was that the rice in the paella was not crispy enough.

Jen L.

Yelp
Nice cozy spot. We were a party of 3. The table was a little awkward in the main walkway but overall, we had a good experience. The croquets came out immediately and were delicious. Frog legs were tasty as were the Spanish sausages. We ordered the chicken paella. It came out on time. Tasty but not a lot of crisp to the rice and we missed the addition of chorizo and/or shrimp to the dish. Good size pour on the drinks. Second glass of wine that was ordered was never delivered but we were not charged. Hostess staff was very friendly and welcoming when we arrived.

Yelp
The food was good, and the ambience was great especially indoors where it was cozy, comfortable, appetizing, and with a Spanish feeling atmosphere. Service was also very good which was a relief after reading some of the previous reviews. The cocktails were also interesting and nicely made. The only regret was that the prices seemed overly high for the level of a neighborhood taberna.

Yelp
Solid local place with a nice variety of tapas dishes. My favorite dish was the gambas and if you dip the bread in the sauce/oil it is amazing! All the tapas we ordered were pretty tasty. This is a cozy place to enjoy drinks and pleasant conversation with friends. It wasn't too loud and the service was good. I would bet it is an even more enjoyable dining experience in the summer when the outdoor seating is available.

Yelp
Tapa-style dinner with friends Some tapas that we ordered were the ham and cheese croquetas, patata bravas, goat cheese toasts, and flan. My favorite had to be the goat cheese toast. I'm a HUGE patata bravas fan and this one was okay. The sauce was soupy and I prefer a thicker sauce (just my own preference). If you're a fan of Sherry wine, be sure to get the flight. I enjoyed the dark red but can't remember the name of it Also they have the largest Sherry wine collection.

Yelp
The service here was perfect as well as the vibes. The people were nice and kind and attentive with asking you questions and making sure your experience is great. The alcohol is the reason to come here! The food was either a hit or miss for me. Eggplant dish was amazing with the honey and cheese and their bread is soft and fluffy. Also ordered the olives and the oils in that were aromatic and delicious with the bread.

Yelp
After two visits, my wife and I can safely say that we like the food a great deal, but the service is extremely poor. It is largely a correctable organizational problem, although I'm not entirely sure they are up to it from the looks of things. The good part is that once an order is placed, the dishes come out efficiently and courteously. The big problem was getting anyone to take our order or approach us in any respect at all across both visits to the restaurant. Both times it was almost exactly the same - waitresses walked by us stonefaced, completely ignoring us. One visit we sat inside, once outside, and the result was the same. In neither case was the restaurant very busy. Last night I had to go back inside and ask one of the hostesses to send a waitress out to take our order. We had been sitting there for at least 10 minutes in a sparsely filled patio, unable to get even a hello from one of the multiple waitresses that walked by. On both visits, the same problem arose again when it was time either to order dessert or get a check. Plenty of waitresses in our area of the patio, but a failure to make eye contact, let alone ask if we needed any help. On the first visit, we eventually gave up on dessert. Last night, we were eventually able to flag down our waitress about dessert. Ironically, she proceeded to essentially recite the entire dessert menu, including every drink. All this is unfortunate in that the food is at least as good as some of the better tapas places in the area. Not every dish hits it out of the park, but overall it's a very solid, commendable menu. There's no question that this restaurant could be a lot busier, livelier, and more successful with measurably better service, but I think it would take either a consultant or a manager with a lot of experience. I'm not sure exactly what is going on here, but the situation is indicative of an owner/manager who cares about food and wants to do right by her guests, but is not a rigorous or systematic manager. One other thing that is probably symbolic of this broader issue is that almost all of the waitresses were inappropriately attired. The level of skimpiness was to a level of excess that most professional managers would require to be dialed back a bit. This is perhaps especially the case given that the crowd, at least on the nights we were there, seem to be a mostly older, Brookline neighborhood crowd. But even at a hipster restaurant, it would have been over the top by a few tics.

Yelp
This place had a nice selection of tapas dishes. We were able to sit outside which was wonderful. The service was ok, our waiter was not very attentive even though the restaurant was more than half empty, we arrived early. Because of the lack of service, will probably not be returning, even though the food was quite good.

Yelp
Authentic tapas dining... I spend more than half the year in Europe and this is legit Spanish dining... So, start with Sherry, ask for recommendations and enjoy the journey!! ¡Viva España!

Yelp
We came here not knowing what to expect. This was definitely one of those restaurants that we always passed by and wanted to try. Their food was pretty good (our favorites were the seafood plates and the croquettes). The ambiance was lively and the restaurant was packed. The spacing between the tables was lacking, making it feel like someone was always trying to squeeze through. We were sat at a high top and were worried about the table being too small. However, the plates are pretty small, so everything was fine!

Yelp
Service was amazing and deserves 5 stars, but the size and quality of the food was not worth the money and brings this rating down. Taberna also includes 20% gratuity to all party sizes. Our waiter absolutely deserved a good tip, but it would be nice to have the option to tip based on quality of service. I'd recommend going to Barcelona or Toro for tapas instead. They did a great job with social distancing both inside and outside of the restaurant, and there is ample street parking nearby. All restaurant employees wore masks, tables were spaced more than 6 ft apart, and there was hand sanitizer available as well. We started with a salmorejo sopa, which was a cold soup that tasted heavily of olive oil with cold tomato purée and chunks of hard boiled eggs. This dish was absolutely disgusting. Next came the alcachofas - artichoke hearts with tiny, overcooked pieces of ham. This dish was okay but the artichokes were too salty, and the ham was too hard. The gambas was overcooked shrimp with a generous portion of olive oil and garlic. The sauce complemented the sourdough bread nicely, and this dish would have been my favorite if the shrimp was not overcooked. Espinacas was spinach with a lot of olive oil and salt with a hint of added texture from the pine nuts, raisins, and garlic. This was good but overpriced, and the few pine nuts and raisins did not distinctly distinguish the dish from regular spinach cooked at home. We finished the meal off with choricitos, which were tiny sausages with a smoky and spicy flavor. This was the most filling as the other tapas were very small. We finished our dinner with 5 items at Tatte next door as we were still hungry and didn't want to spend more money at Taberna.

Yelp
I hate leaving negatives reviews, but I've never been treated so disrespectfully at a restaurant by a waitress. Unfortunately did not get to try food or drinks due to the aggressive waitress that was super rude for no reason. Extremely unprofessional and childish behavior that ruined my friends and I's experience at this restaurant.

Yelp
Always lovely - delicious & outstanding service. One wish - for all food menu items to include descriptions with all ingredients (many do, but a few don't).

Yelp
This award winning, authentic tapas restaurant is quintessential Boston foodie life that will transport you to Spain from the streets of Brookline. Great indoor and outdoor dining, and epic wine list cultivated by owner and master Sommelier Deborah! The food requires its own paragraph. My husband and I have been here multiple times and could sit for hours, ordering small plate after small plate with reckless abandon. Flavor combinations just blow us away every time. Everything is light enough to not overwhelm the palate nor the belly, so you can keep trying the next dish without feeling too full. It's a dream for the foodie! Dining at Taberna is an experience of taste and culture that shouldn't be missed. Can't wait for our next dining experience!

Yelp
I went on a Wednesday and it was completely packed. There was also some live music. For food we got clams, meat and cheese plate, and the paella of the week. My favorite dish was the clams as it was a little spicy and the broth was wonderful with their fresh bread. I also tried some sherry - not familiar - and our waitress was super informative on the different types. I would come back for a relaxing night and to listen to the music.

Ghazale J.

Yelp
Great food, service was slow. Loved the shrimp, cod balls and eggplant dish. They have a very extensive food menu. Will go again for the food.

Alice H.

Yelp
I hardly ever leave negative reviews but I was sorely disappointed by the food. The seafood paella was not just over-cooked but decidedly burnt. The rice tasted charred, and not in a good way. Fish was over-cooked and bland. The mussels smelled and tasted rotten, I've never had a mussel that tasted so fishy and funky. We sent the mussels back. The grilled vegetables were also burnt. Fries were almost raw. The cocktails were small. Everything was extremely expensive. The server was sweet and the ambiance is nice but absolutely not worth it, in my humble opinion. Maybe it was just a bad night, but on this particular night, I can't give more than 2 stars.

Bailee C.

Yelp
We went in on a busy night and still received excellent service. We were so incredibly impressed. The food was absolutely to die for, especially the shrimp. Emiline gave us excellent suggestions of how much to order and it was the exact correct amount. We had an excellent bottle of wine from a list that although long, was not intimidating due to the excellent descriptions. We both wanted to try sherry but didn't know where to start, and Maria guided us to the the sherry flight which was excellent for us nouveau, but certainly enjoyable for those who have more experience then us. Will be coming back for more sherry (and shrimp) in the future!

Eli H.

Yelp
The best tapas in Boston. The food was just the best. Queso de Cabra was amazing, and the cured meats were so tasty. Our waitress Sophia or Sophie was very nice and was recommending many things. It really felt like you were in Spain and everything was amazing.

Yelp
Stepped into Taberna De Haro on a Saturday night around 9:30 with about 7 girls. The hostess asked us if a high top table was okay and proceeded to help us put 2 together to sit at. She brought out some menus and we told her we were just staying for drinks. She silently took the menus and walked away, seemingly annoyed. A waitress then came up to us and said "usually when you come to a restaurant, you check in with the hostess before sitting." We explained to her that we did check in, and the hostess in fact helped us put our tables together. She proceeded to tell us we were lying and said "I saw you put the tables together yourself." We were all horrified as we looked to the back of the restaurant and saw the hostess looking at us and snickering with another waitress. We once again explained to the waitress what happened and told her we were only drinking. She then condescendingly said "would you like some cocktails menu then?" And proceeded to grab cocktail menus. By now we were all way too weirded out that we just left. It was an extremely bizarre situation - nothing like that has ever happened to me at a restaurant. We would have ordered a bunch of drinks and left a great tip as we always do, but the downright rude and disgruntled wait staff/hostess apparently didn't want to do their jobs. Imagine being angry that patrons come in for a few drinks on a Saturday night. I'll also note the restaurant wasn't crowded at all, there were about 10 other people in there. I hear the owners are really nice people, it's too bad they made some terrible hires. I can't comment on the food or drinks because we were never served, but the service was a 0/10.

Yelp
Some of the best tapas I've ever had! Granted, I've never been to Spain, but everything I had here was delicious. We tried the Espinacas y Garbanzos, the Pollo al Ajillo, the Gambas al Ajillo, the Acelgas a la Catalana, the Queso de Cabra, and a Spanish tortilla, which I can't find on the menu now. The standouts were the Queso de Cabra, which was a mouthful of the most delicious goat cheese on toast, and the Spanish tortilla, which was perfectly seasoned and so addictive. Everything else was also excellent, and I'm embarrassed to admit I soaked up more than my fair share of spicy garlicky oil from all the ajillo dishes with their great bread. The atmosphere is dark, cozy, and trendy. It is definitely not cheap, and the portions range from decent (the chicken) to pretty small (the shrimp). I had less of a problem with it because I was treated to dinner here, but this would be a splurge meal by my standards. Still, gotta give them props for serving up some of the best Spanish food I've had.

Yelp
Really disappointing experience. Food was bland and expensive. We were trying to try something other than Barcelona, but honestly, the food is much better and cheaper there. The menu and portion sizes weren't well described - when we asked how big the portions were to plan out how many tapas to get we got a vague answer to the tone of "get a few and see how you feel." Additionally, when I asked for clarification about what the peppers on the menu were stuffed with-I was told smoked fish. I was not told that the entire entree was three tiny peppers on a green salad. Definitely not worth the $18. My fiancé got the chicken and meatballs but complained the taste was bland as well. Lastly, management slapped on a 20% patio gratuity to the bill, which I felt was presumptuous and unexpected. It left a sour taste to an already poor experience. We spent $124 for two people and two glasses of wine, and won't be going back. Save yourself the trouble and go to Barcelona.

Yelp
Small place on the corner of Beacon and St. Mary's. Street parking only. We were able to find a spot around the corner off of St. Mary's. The ambience is simple and serene. Definitely not kid-friendly, although we did bring our 5 year old and after his initial fit at the menu that did not include Mac N Cheese, he was eating Frogs legs in no time. Because this food. Oh my goodness. AMAZING. The chef takes the utmost care in all of his dishes. We had a big party so we got to try a lot of stuff! Gambas Al Ajillio - Shrimp was fresh but thought they needed a little more flavor. Frog legs with lemon, garlic and brandy - Super tasty, tender and well seasoned and yes very similar to a little chicken wing but with very small bones. Careful not to choke on one. The Grilled Eggplant with Saffron honey - The eggplant has a mild flavor but when charred on a grill it takes on a little bit of bitter sweetness that pairs well with the saffron honey. The texture is buttery and lends that perfect amount of richness to the sweetness of the honey. Complex flavors that really compliment each other. Warm Goat Cheese on Tomato Bread - Just delicious. Their bread is already so good so the goat cheese and tomato just takes it to another level. Patatas Bravas - A very popular spanish tapas dish. Nothing too exciting. Pretty spicy. Kind of just tastes like potato wedges in Frank's Red Hot. No offense to the chef - good just not as amazing as their other dishes. Griddled Oyster Mushrooms - They come nice and bubbly in a mini cast iron dish. I could eat these all day. Calamari - The squid is extra fresh and the dredge is light as can be. Best Calamari I have ever had. Jamon Iberico - The richest, most treasured ham in the land from Acorn-fed black hoofed pigs. I am so sorry to the beautiful little piggies but I can see why everyone in Spain loves to eat you. Pinchos Morunos - skewers of Moorish spiced pork - Super flavorful, all of the spices were superb, but just a tad chewy. For dessert we had the Trufas Porrera - house-made dark chocolate truffles showered with extra virgin olive oil, cocoa, sea salt (which the waitress adds at the table) You schmear that on some more of that wonderful rustic bread. Delicioso! Bienmesabe - lemon & paprika marinated haddock, fried - The most amazing haddock I've had in my whole life! I think it had the same dredge they use for the calamari. This was insanely good. This Haddock, changed my life. Give me that, a pitcher of that awesome Sangria and some of that bread. Happiness. If you can't afford to go to Spain then come to Taberna De Haro, toss back some Sangrias and enjoy your life. I haddocked the time of mine.

Yelp
We happened on Taberna since our reservation at another restaurant was canceled last minute due to "problems with the kitchen". We ate 730 on Fri June 17, '22 & the bar was full but we managed to get seated there quickly, waiting about 1/2 hour for an outdoor table. It helped that we called ahead of arrival. Our waitress Amanda was most accomodating and did a great job not just serving but assisting with deciding how much to order. For two of us we got one tapas that was pretty big. It was Pollo something and had several small pieces of chicken. Our 4 raciones were jamón iberico (ham), pulpo(octopus), almejas(clams) & verduras(assorted grilled veggies). Portions were fine! We asked for bread & it came warm. For drinks we began with a sparkling wine, then my husband ordered some wine but I forgot which one. The patio filled right up yet service was good. We left pleasantly satiated and would go back.

Yelp
We sat at the bar - the waitress was terrfic - Hannah - her service was good - she had come up with a cocktail - Ginger Armada - which was terrific! We will be back again! Thank you Hannah! Don't forget to drink a lot of water [she had a sore throat!}

Yelp
Decided to check the restaurant last night. Last time was a year ago with a satisfying experience. Last night was different. The food was bland especially the meatballs. In general the food was just ok and overpriced. The nail in the coffin was a 20% fee added to our bill without any mention of it on the menu. Too bad...will not be going back. It is a hard time for everyone but this was unexpected.

J K.

Yelp
Excellent place for a date night. Service was perfect as the waitress gave great suggestions -- the fish is an absolute must. Will definitely be back!

Peter S.

Yelp
Food was pretty decent but nothing special. Service was okay but definitely does not warrant an automatic 20% gratituity slapped onto our bill for just a party of two. Not sure if I've seen this 20% tipping forced anywhere else in Brookline or MA for that matter, but I for one do not appreciate not being able to control how much I want to tip. So sadly, my first visit will be my last.

Yelp
Went here with some coworkers after a long day. Was incredibly surprised by the drink menu and the amazing food. We ordered a few small dishes and the chicken paella (special plate of the day). Would highly recommend all of them! Especially liked the spicy tequila hot sauce drink they made me. Only reason I'm not giving five stars is that the service was a bit slow. We kept getting up to ask for items.

Yelp
What a fantastic evening. We had outside seating. Our waiter, i think his name was Peter, was so pleasant and kind. The food was perfect. We had the daily paella, which was duck and roasted radishes, bacalao, ham croquettas and the charcuterie. The wine selection was tremendous. All in all, a great time with the family

Yelp
Delicious tapas and great outdoor dining space. I especially love the eggplant. So smoky and juicy. The Shrimps are garlic-y and delicious too

Yelp
Excellent sherry and gin collection. Bar is top notch. Very friendly staff. Good food but heavier than other tapas restaurants.

Yelp
Not bad but not amazing either. Food was pretty good, decent atmosphere. We were a little annoyed when we arrived for our reservation in the bar. It was maybe a quarter full with plenty of open tables. We asked if we could sit at a window table and the hostess said it was being held for a party with four people. Fair enough, until two guys came in after us and were seated at that table.

Yelp
I spoke to Deborah Hansen (chef/owner) about catering a small event. I asked if she could accommodate several specific food allergies, and she replied that she would be able to accommodate them and was available to cater the date of the event. I then sent over the list of food we wanted to order and asked if any contained those specific allergens, and she replied no. But when I looked at the catering menu closely, I noticed several of the food did actually contain some of the allergens. I asked Deborah to double check again, letting her know that we were okay with the presence of certain allergens so long as we knew which dishes they were in to flag for our guests. Instead of apologizing for not actually taking the time to carefully review the list, Deborah responded by saying she could no longer cater our event. Having food allergies is tough, and I understand not all restaurants have the capability to cater to dietary restrictions. But it is different when you say you can accommodate specific food allergies, but then not actually take it seriously enough to check, and when called out for it, just decide not to cater. Given that this came after almost a week of going back and forth and after receiving reassurances from the chef/ owner herself that she prioritized the safety of our guests and that the allergies could be accommodated, it was truly disappointing. If you are concerned about food allergies, I recommend you go elsewhere.

Yelp
We just moved in around the corner from this place and I'm really excited about it. It's a lovely date / dinner spot, with outdoor seating and conscientious employees who are all wearing masks. They brought water for our dog, which is always much appreciated :). The food was good- fairly expensive tapas, but to be expected given the neighborhood and the fact that we're not in Spain. The bienmesabe, revuelto-type oyster mushroom special, and piquillos were great. The tortilla was good- I loved it but my Spanish partner was not the hugest fan. For any españoles out there- it tastes like it belongs in a bocadillo de tortilla, nothing fancy, a little dry (which is a style I rather like haha). The croquetas were not my favorite- they were a little less than creamy and a bit too nutmeg-y; this is coming from a couple that met in Madrid and regularly makes croquetas, so perhaps our standards are just too high. All in all it was a lovely experience and we will be back to try the sherry, among other things!
