Korean-American owner John Cho decided on the name as a nod to the nine-tailed fox spirit in East Asian folklore, a benevolent shapeshifting creature that's considered a good omen as a result of great longevity. The menu includes seasonal drinks like calpico frescas or yuzu citron iced tea during warmer months along with a selection of baked goods, including a homemade Bourbon apple cake—make sure to get there early before it runs out. The shop is located on a quiet residential street and recently expanded within the adjacent hardware and supply store, Mushtari. "Whenever you’re fiending for a premium cold brew or single-origin coffee from a curated lineup of roasters, 9Tails Coffee Shop is the place to go. Owner John Cho is Korean American and decided on the name 9Tails as a nod to the nine-tailed fox spirit in East Asian folklore, a benevolent shapeshifting creature and considered a good omen as a result of great longevity. Cho’s drink menu includes seasonal drinks like calpico frescas or yuzu citron iced tea during warmer months along with a selection of baked goods, including a homemade Bourbon apple cake - make sure to get there early before it runs out. The shop is located on a quiet residential street in Central Harlem and recently expanded within the adjacent hardware and supply store, Mushtari. Food: I got a croissant that was the perfect amount of soft and buttery Drink: The London Fog is a DREAM! Sweet, hot and leaves you with a cozy feeling Service: Youseph is an incredible barista who added immensely to the charm of this cafe. He’s knowledgeable, friendly, and personable. I was beyond impressed with his genuine attitude and help in picking the Ronke drink for me :) Atmosphere: Plants, Painting and Prints- oh my! This cafe has a communal library, various plants that are decor and (possibly some) for purchase and to top it off, it’s cute dogs in sweaters friendly! This cafe is definitely a 15/10

This was my favorite coffee shop in Harlem. Loved the design and usage of the space. It’s lush and green with all the various plants as it’s also a plant greenery & hardware shop. The pastries, especially the almond croissant was on par with something I’d get in Europe. It was soft buttery with the almond filling while perfect in the flakiness and texture. All in all recommend. The gentlemen at the bar was full of charisma and just had an awesome smile. I think his name was Yousef. He engaged with everyone that walked in. Really appreciated his sincerity. It’s a must stop.

The matcha is authentic and made very well. My favorite pastry is the almond butter croissant. Atmosphere is cozy. Great place to work or relax.

A great little coffee shop inside a hardware store and flower shop. The vibes are great, the coffee not bad, the breakfast sandwiches are really good. It’s a gem in Harlem and I recommend it to anybody!

Most delicious and best coffee I’ve tasted in a long time. Really worth making the trip if you like coffee. Their plain coffee isnt bitter but has a rich almost chocolate notes … very cool space (not too cool) and barista is welcoming and personable.

A STUNNING , hyper-local plant-covered sanctuary tucked away in a plant+garden shop in the heart of Harlem. This cafe has incredible ambience and is the perfect place to quickly stop for some specialty coffee that you might not find elsewhere in Harlem. The Baristas are very warm and forthcoming. It is a magical experience overall!

Lush coffee shop in Harlem, with super friendly staff and delicious coffee. Been there a couple of time, consistent quality of coffee, very happy with it. Croissants are OK, unlikely to be made on the premises but better than most I've experienced in NYC so far!
