We had a lovely dinner last night at 9th St. Bistro. We started with the fried thing of the day (corned beef and cabbage egg rolls with housemade thousand island), pickle plate and burratta with bread. All were good, with the sweet heat pickles and egg rolls being particular standouts. Two of my party had the chicken with lemon and both enjoyed it, my husband had the cheese grits and added blackened shrimp, which had excellent flavor, and I had the duck bourgonone, which was delicious. The surprise of my dish was the whipped sweet potatoes, which had an amazing light, sweet texture.
We had an assortment of desserts - carrot cake, peanut butter dipped pie, the macadamia bread pudding, and chocolate cherry gelato. All were good, with the carrot cake and gelato being particular hits.
One of the reasons I chose this place was because all the reviews talked about the service, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. Everyone was welcoming, and it was clear there is real camaraderie and teamwork happening at 9th St. The environment was warm, relaxed and interesting, with lots of touches that make it clear this restaurant is a personal labor of love and not a corporate investment.
I had a wonderful time celebrating my birthday at 9th St Bistro and look forward to returning.
