I have ALWAYS had the best experiences in this shop. Our local family shops need to be cherished! Support LOCAL BUSINESSES!!! Steve was great today, I brought my granddaughters new deflated football in. He seen it and the first words out of his mouth were, do you have a pin? If not, I can sell you one. He knew exactly what to do as soon as I walked through the door!! Thanks Steve!!!

I was having some problems with my bike, and it was really frustrating. I went it to A-1 Cycling, where Mr. Steve was busy working on other bikes. Despite his workload, he made an effort to listen to my concerns and took the time to show me exactly what the issues were. His help was so valuable, and he was incredibly friendly throughout the process. After our discussion, I was able to go home and fix the bike myself. I truly appreciated his kindness and support!

There are businesses that have customers, and then there are businesses who have fans. I'm a fan A-1 Cycling! I cannot stress enough how amazingly easy and enjoyable my purchasing experience was at A-1. Not only does A-1 employ friendly and knowledgeable people, the owner, Colin, is an exceptionally customer-service oriented leader. Most importantly, he understands and appreciates his staff and customers. Due to circumstances beyond Colin's control, I was unable to purchase the mountain bike I wanted after driving four hours from Virginia Beach to Woodbridge. The traffic, as luck would have it, was a disaster. So, I arrived much later than anticipated. Rather than have to drive an additional six hours to and from Woodbridge, Colin met me in Richmond a few days later to personally deliver the bicycle. Not only did he save me an additional 1.5 hour of travel time each way, he also mounted the tires I purchased himself. Even more impressive was the fact that he delivered a second bike to another customer at the same location to save the gentleman the cost of shipping. Wow! Who does this kind of thing anymore... Colin does, that's who! In today's world when businesses are hyper-focused on profit, it is refreshing and commendable to meet a business owner who focuses his attention on what truly matters - the customers. Thank you A-1!

Please read the ENTIRE review. The ONLY reason I am giving a 5 star is because of the excellent service I received at the MANASSAS location. The Woodbridge location is beyond horrible. I have had several service visits on older bikes over the last few weeks with no issues.Tyler is great FYI. I purchased 3 brand new bikes in the last week and as soon as I swiped the card for the last two, it was almost instant regret. I picked the last two up yesterday and today I took them back for some adjustments and upgrades after breaking them in. The “manager” Steve came out and saw me standing there with two bikes and screamed “we got people out here” to his helper in the back. He was obviously frustrated with something he was working on since he was cursing and screaming like a toddler about a bearing or something on another customer’s bike. He seemed irritated that customers were there waiting for service which made us feel very unwelcome in the store. I was very welcome in the store the night before when I was spending money though. We had been waiting patiently for 10-15 minutes when a jerky customer barged in and cut the line in front of us. Another helper greeted the guy that cut the line and got Steve to come assist him.Steve began working on his bike immediately. Steve had already acknowledged us and knew we were next in line for service. At that point I decided we were just going to leave quietly and be done with A1. We went out and put our bikes in the truck when I decided to go back in and say something to Steve the “manager”. When I went in they were all in the back yelling and cursing at each other like toddlers talking about the situation I just walked out of. When I said something to Steve he started yelling and arguing so I decided to leave before things escalated. On the way out he was taunting me and basically just kept saying “have a nice day” in a very condescending manner. I’m not going to state how much I spent there the night before but you can do the math. I called the Manassas branch looking for the owner, and found the entire staff there was extremely professional. Ben is a great manager and the whole experience at Manassas was excellent. They fixed things that were overlooked at the Woodbridge store and went over all the info on the bikes (which Woodbridge never did). Come to find out the Woodbridge store didn’t even make the pre-delivery adjustments on one of the three bikes. If you want professional service I would avoid the Woodbridge location like the plague. Ben and the entire Manassas staff are the ONLY reason this isn’t a 1 star review. I’ve seen grade school children that could conduct themselves more professionally than the “manager” at the Woodbridge store. Overall the business gets a 5 star. Ben and the Manassas staff defiantly saved the day and showed me that A-1 is a reputable company, despite the shortcomings of the Woodbridge location.

Just back from my post- maintenance bike ride this afternoon and A-1 Cycling’s team of bike mechanics have fully groomed my old Ghost Speedline I and it’s fast, comfortable and quiet! Like the day I left the store. The team at A-1 is always available to help walk ins and most importantly- they listen to my issue(s); when I had them. Nothing is worse than “ pings, creeks, and chain noise.” They are willing to test ride your bike and attempt to duplicate the symptoms right then and there, and provide preliminary estimates. Turn-around time for bike maintenance is 300% faster than my previous shop (REI), and you deal with the same people that you spoke with when you dropped your bike off. For me this included new bottom bracket, crankset upgrade, new derailleurs, cables- the works. ( over the past year, as the bike is 13 years old wil 16K miles+. Stuff gets fixed and stays fixed! This is why small businesses make a difference- they are a talented team- highly recommend you use this shop!

Google
Good service, good mix of staff. Knowledge ranging from the road, mountain and even bmx bikes. I bring in my odd bikes that I purchased elsewhere and they are always ready to help with small adjustments etc. They carry parts, bikes, and even cool bmxs. And they even have skate board section for those who still have the knees for it. Good local business that should be supported by bike novices, enthusiasts, and unique individuals such as myself.

I just wanted to commend your team at the Woodbridge and Herndon locations! I traded in my bike through the Giant TradeUp program and it seemed like a disaster. However, Tomas at the Woodbridge store provided the BEST customer service I've had in a long time! He was helpful, insightful and extremely patient. Not to mention, at any point I needed to contact someone regarding the trad-up he always had an answer and if not, he certainly contacted someone else to get me the answers I needed. Colin at the Herndon location was very knowledgeable and helpful as well! He was able to locate the Trance X 29 2 in my size and drive it down to the Woodbridge store so that I could pick it up. Ben the Giant Rep. was also very helpful with contacting Giant to discuss the logistics of this process on the back end. All in all - someone buy these guys a beer because they not only made this process smooth, they also made it one of the best bike shop interactions I've ever had. Cheers, Russ

Yelp
Ok let me first say I was a loyal customer too Village Bike and Ski. Purchased 3 of my 4 bikes from the original owner. Then he sold the shop and the energy changed. Fast forward it was sold to a small local chain. I don't like change and considered finding a new bike shop altogether. So today out of desperation I had to take my crossover bike to the shop. Not only were they able to fix it while I waited but it was very inexpensive. The prices are standard with the previous owners for accessories. They have a heavier emphasis for off road bikes/dirt bikes. The 3 young guys there are polite enough- surprised there wasn't head banging music playing. I'm more of a Raleigh bike fan and they are heavy on Specialized bikes but when I'm ready for my next bike I will check them out. In the meantime, I will keep taking my bikes there for maintenance.

Yelp
I didn't have the same experience as some. Brought my mtb for them to look at and advise me on a shifting issue. It was kind of late and i was fully prepared and ready to drop it off and pay a lot more than what i eventually did. They fixed the issue right then and there and didn't try to up charge me when i asked them to do a tune up. Great customer service

Yelp
Purchased a used Pro BMX bike via Facebook for our 12yr old and was not told by owner of rear wheel issues. The gentlemen at A-1 hooked us up! Took a look, gave an honest opinion on how to fix/part to order and an accurate idea of time it would take....all were extremely patient with considering I dont know a thing about BMX bikes! Received the call today with some future advise/recommendations and 15 minutes later received second call that we could pick it up! Our son is happy to have his "new" bike, my husband is happy that cost of repair fit our budget and I'm happy as the guys are Stick Figure fans! It's the little things in life! Thanks A-1!!!

Yelp
I called the Lake Ridge store yesterday and asked if they put training wheels on kids bikes. I had tried doing it myself but I was not strong enough to turn the nuts/bolts. I was told that they do and I might be able to have it done in a few minutes or have to drop it off. No worries. I didn't mind dropping it off. When I drove down from Springfield today, Sunday 4 July, the guy working was less than happy to see me wheel in a kids bike and promptly told me that "you can't install training wheels on this bike because the nut is too thick. Huffy's can't really have training wheels put on them." Then he just kinda said there was nothing I could do and clearly wanted me to just leave. I not being a bike specialist took him at his word. But I got to thinking...Huffy has been around forever and I had training wheels on mine and so do all the kids in my neighborhood now and yes they are on Huffy's. When we got home I reviewed my son's bike manual and there is a page showing how to install training wheels and the size to use for the bike. I get that installing training wheels isn't as big a job as servicing a professional bike riders fancy bike might be but just tell me that! This guy clearly didn't want to be bothered with doing it. I also think that because it was 4 July and the store was closing in two hours he just didn't want to do it. There was another guy in the parking lot that appeared to work there but he was too busy affixing a flag to his pickup for the holiday. The guy in the store actually said "well you should just buy a bike with the training wheels already on it." HUH! Sad thing is that I work in health and wellness for a very large government agency and often recommend companies to our workforce to promote a healthy work-life balance. I will be sure NOT to recommend these folks for any fitness needs! So for anyone who does care to provide the service, let me know as I still need the training wheels put on and I will also tip...guy missed out on that $20 tip plus I was going to buy a helmet, bell, all sorts of add ons for my son and a bike for myself and husband so we could ride with him! If you know of a shop that WOULD like the business let me know!

Yelp
Come on. This place is a joke. i needed a bolt my kids crank. Yes one bold 9 weeks. seriously don't take your bike to this shok, completely over priced on EVERYTHING and the service, please it's a joke. tip of the day for the owner. If your too busy to fix bikes then hire people. If you have a high demand for service, hire more people. Don't lie to the customer and say it takes 9 weeks to get a part, and then say it's $30 for part and repair. see ya A-1, obviously you didn't learn anything from Village. Over pricing and crappy service equals no more business!

Yelp
Where do I even start! I bought a bike from them 6 months ago. Brand new bike and my shifter that tells me what speed I'm in was broken. I made it aware to the sales person he told me to come back the next day which I did. Guy told me part won't be in tell June. June came around and still no part. It's September and I still have a $700 bike with a broken part. Still haven't got no update on why it hasn't been fixed. disappointed on there customer service. Stay away or if you go make sure it's not broken because they won't fix it just lie to your face that there going to.

Yelp
Was told to call their store to request their pick up / delivery services. Called and was told they dont offer pick up or drop off services at this location. Later in the conversation I was finally told to provide my name and number and they would call me back Thursday to schedule a pick up for that day. Waited all morning and never got a call so i contacted customer service again and was told to give them my information and they would take care of. Yet to hear from anybody at all so I would not recommend this place at all.

Todd D.

Yelp
Highly recommend! Super helpful and got by wheels back on road shape in no time! Come here for all your bicycle and skateboarding needs!

Jason W.

Yelp
These guys have been extremely helpful and responsive. Needed a hard to find part and Colin went above and beyond to find it. I tried this location a few times before they changed to A-1 and always had less than satisfactory experiences. In addition to more helpful and knowledgeable staff, their selection of mountain bikes and accessories has vastly improved. Finally have found my go-to bike shop.

Susan D.

Yelp
A little over a year ago, we bought our son a BMX bike for his birthday at A-1. We greatly appreciated the patience of the staff, as they spent all the time he wanted to ensure he understood all the differences between the bikes. There was no pressure--just a great conversation. Over the last 12 months, we've purchased 2 more mountain bikes for our sons and 2 hybrid bikes for my wife and I at A-1. Each time the process was informative, painless and quick. It feels like we have a friend in the bike business. About once a month, we ride by the shop to ask for advice on the mechanics of our bikes or to get recommendations for a great trail ride--each time they're more than eager to answer our questions. A-1 is a major reason our family's passion is now our weekly bike ride. Thanks A-1!
