A Baianeira

"Simplicity is the buzzword here as the restaurant developed in a small garage that once upon a time only sold the traditional "pão de queijo". Today, the owner-chef, who has trained the entire team of women working with her, pays homage to her origins by offering family-style dishes that combine the cooking of Bahia and the northeast – Brazilian dishes that showcase technical skill and attractive presentation. The sweet potato gnocchi with cream cheese is well worth ordering." - Michelin Inspector

Incredible food, service and atmosphere! The staff was so kind here...I arrived before my party and they were very patient with my lack of Portuguese. The food was beautifully prepared, fresh and delicious. It's no surprise that they are so highly regarded. A must-visit for anyone looking to try the best Brazilian food São Paulo has to offer!

Great cafe and restaurant consolidated Bahia and Minas Gerais. Their foods were high quality, their staff service was amazing, and their atmosphere was like a home. We went there around 11:00 and enjoyed breakfast. Their lunch time will start from 12:00.

There are good restaurants, and then there are the unforgettable ones—the ones that stay with you, not just in memory, but in the deep, satisfied sighs of a truly remarkable meal. These are the places that become the heart of your culinary tales, the taste of a country on your tongue. "A Baianeira" is one such place. Each dish is a love letter to tradition, an embrace of authenticity, with a whisper of modern creativity that leaves you yearning for just one more bite.

Baianeira is for sure my favorite restaurant in São Paulo. Everyone is so friendly and the food is mesmerizing. Everything on the menu is worth trying, really. I’ve been living outside of São Paulo and, right on the day I arrived to visit, the first place I wanted to visit was this exact restaurant in Barra Funda. It was a bit full, with a waiting line (no surprise since it’s one of the best restaurants in town), but they quickly found a place for me to sit and made sure I was settled and offered the Pastel do dia as a started, which I obviously got. Like I said, every dish on the menu is in itself a spectacle, but I chose the Picadinho this time, a classic. I was so happy to taste it when it came, it makes me wish I could have it again right now as I write. For dessert, I recommend the Bolo de coco gelado, a true gem made out of coconut🩶 Thanks Baianeira for existing in this world and thanks to Manu Ferraz and all the staff over there, specially the remarkable Milton for making it possible!

Chef Manu worked at DOM a few years ago then decided to open her own place focusing on comfort food from Bahia and Minas Gerais, hence the name. Best pão de queijo in brasil, you can also take them frozen to bake at home. Great egg sandwiches, really flavorful and filling food. Favorite time to go is breakfast. Has outdoor seating in the front and upstairs. I usually arrive at 9am when it opens, have some breakfast with the kids and then head to Parque Água Branca to the organic farmers market and to see the animals roam free. It’s become a part of my perfect Saturday. lunch is equally amazing and flavorful. Does not open for dinner.

I came here for breakfast which I think is a mistake. The quality of the ambience and the food does not match the price. I have contemplated to come back to try the lunch but decided not too. This is the highest price I have paid (about BRL$ 90 )for breakfast in Sao Paulo and the breakfast quality can't justify the price..
