"During a four-hour experience in Chiang Mai with A Chef’s Tour, we learned the differences between Central and Northern Thai cooking and heard the stories behind regional dishes as we ate larb (a spicy minced meat salad) and sampled local items like crickets; our guide explained their long use as a sustainable, affordable protein. She also told us about the history of pork in Thai cuisine while we ate what I consider the best pork belly I’ve ever had, and visiting the markets and stands around Chiang Mai made me regret not booking the tour earlier in the trip." - Annie Harrigan
Great street food tour. Six very diverse stops sampling the best of genuine northern Thai street cuisine from starters to mains and deserts. So much food you won’t eat for a week after this one. Our host and guide Aim was professional, friendly and full of information, history and stories of all we were experiencing. Definitely a must do.

This was one of the highlights of my visit to Chiang Mai. Every restaurant we visited was filled with locals, so the food was definitely the "real" stuff and not touristy in any way. Northern Thai food is quite different to food from other regions of Thailand, so this tour is definitely worth trying.

If you want to delve in to the history of Thai flavours then this is the tour for you. I find food gives a great insight into the culture of a place and our guide Moui gave us in-depth insight into the origins of modern day Thai food. She guided us enthusiastically through countless tastings - you really must not eat before the tour! I came to Thailand with a long list of dishes I wanted to try and this tour ticked off a lot and then even more that I never heard of. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something more than an average touristy food tour

This food tour was an absolute highlight—fun, enriching, and incredibly delicious. I truly can’t recommend it highly enough. It offered the perfect opportunity to taste a wide variety of dishes we likely wouldn’t have discovered on our own. Each stop showcased something unique, with our guide thoughtfully sharing the history and recipes behind the food. Without a doubt, this was my favorite experience in Chiang Mai!

I had a wonderful time on this food tour. I’ve been on many food tours and this is certainly the most adventurous one but also the most exhilarating. Tree was our guide and he shared a lot about the history, preparation methods and other factoids about the local delicacies we were trying. We went to restaurants all over the city - my favorites were “hole in the wall” places that I never would’ve found myself but that were packed with locals. I also loved the market - there was so much to see and sample there! Thanks so much for being a great guide, Tree!

If you’re considering booking this tour - do it! Absolutely incredible experience and great value for money. A highlight of our Thailand trip. Our guide Moui was amazing and we learnt so much - but most importantly, such delicious food.

We had a great evening with some lovely company from others on our tour .
The guide was excellent and so knowledgeable.
Incredible food and so much of it !!!!
The highlight for me was the Earthenware roast pork and chicken ( we went back a couple of days later and ate. What felt like our body weight in roast meat !) along with the fresh food market. That little coconut and pandan leaf dessert was possibly the best sweet I have ever tasted and it will stay in my memory forever!
It was such an enjoyable and mind boggling experience made even better by the very pleasant members of the group that evening.
Thank you!

Moui is the best. What an amazing food tour. you learn absolutely tons about northern Thai food, the influence of Chinese and Burmese culture and most importantly you get to try about 20+ different dishes and learn all about the local ingredients that go into each. the array of food is stunning and there are so many delicious dishes that you'll lose count. Moui was amazing throughout, always making sure we had water, always offering towels and making sure that we were looked after. She explained everything so clearly and knowledgeably and was amazing throughout. cannot recommend this tour enough. really good way to experience Thai food and learn about Chiang Mai
