"If it isn’t clear from the name, A Fish Named Taco specializes in Baja-style seafood, with a variety of fish and shrimp tacos. The Baja fish taco tops a piece of beer-battered halibut with cabbage, cilantro, cotija, and crema, with a lively salsa verde on the side, while the cameron pairs chipotle-marinated and grilled shrimp with pico, guacamole, and chipotle aioli. For something different and objectively cheesier, Las Camas combines that grilled chipotle shrimp with queso Oaxaca and ranchero sauce." - Jenni Moore

Incredibly delicious food in a fast-casual atmosphere, unfortunately spoiled by regular understaffing during peak meal times (particularly lunch, in my experience). When you have on person making all the drinks, taking all the orders and bussing all the tables, things are going to slow to a crawl real quick, especially when the entire dining area is full, or close to it. I can't stress this point enough: staff. your. restaurant. If you can't serve customers and flip tables efficiently, you are losing more money than if you had one additional employee getting things done. Beyond this exasperating bottleneck, I haven't had many street tacos this good anywhere local, and my wife said of the baja fish taco was her favorite anywhere in the city. So, assuming we can stop in for lunch and still make it back before my hour+ is up, we'll absolutely be back!

Google
What a catchy name for a taco joint. Was very excited to try out the food here but a couple of things prevented a full 5 stars. Met my wife here for lunch and immediately noticed the club music cranked up to 11. Thought we were at a dance club in Cabo. Don't get me wrong, we love atmospheric soundtracks, but this was over the top. The food was good, but pretty average. A great fish taco is a good measure of how a place like this stands up against a pretty crowded field. Flavors were good, but the fish on the fish taco was round...too round for the tortilla. Like stuffing a tennis ball into a taco. Not easy to negotiate. Perhaps prep the fish to better fit the tortilla? The environment was clean and seating was adequate. Staff was friendly but oblivious when we commented on the music. Might have another go, but next time for evening grub and cocktails. Perhaps a more fitting vibe.

Food was delicious had authentic flavor. We did have a large group that filled most of the restaurant so it did take awhile for the food to cone out. They are a couple that works the front and cooks. We will return again and we're told to give them a heads up if we are bringing a big group.

Love this place!! Worth every penny because the quality is always there. We take all our friends here because it’s a guaranteed banger! My favorites are the fish taco, quesabrosaburia, miniburi, shrimp tacos, queso dip, and churros. These are seriously the tacos I’ve been searching my whole life for!! Never a weird bite of meat, and let me tell you I’m the pickiest eater when it comes to meat. The few bad reviews are so lame. I mean come on, always about price! You pay for what you get and let’s me honest inflation is killing everyone! Give the restaurant business a break, especially places that make artisanal crafted food made with love!! They don’t make enough restaurants like this and I sure do appreciate the ones who care and are quality over quantity. The owners are from LA and know what’s up when it comes to authentic Mexican food. The Pacific Northwest is very lucky to have them! (:

Google
This little restaurant served us some top-notch tacos, chips and salsa in a clean and welcoming environment by one single hard-working staff member. We started with chips and salsa, they have very good green and red salsa, on the thinner, darker, more traditional side of the salsa spectrum, nice smokiness to the red. Each of us had an order each of the Cali Shrimp and Cameron fish tacos, which were themselves very, very tasty, paired perfectly with your choice of cerveza. These are LARGE tacos, not traditional street size, so bear that in mind when ordering. Very filling, ha. The shrimp and fish were cooked well, the tacos assembled well with appropriate proportions and such, very good food. Restaurant itself, as I said, is clean, welcoming. Live snake plants (least they appear live, with real soil) line the windows, there's several TVs playing your standard array of sports, the restroom is clean and maintained. The sole staff member trooping out the day, Dana, despite being shorthanded, was most impressive in her friendly demeanor, promptness, overall service, handling us and the other customers by herself without breaking a sweat. Shout out and a thank you to her for the experience. Highly recommend this place, slept on it long enough myself.

My son took us here for the first time. I was surprised at the cheap, uncomfortable and unwelcoming seating of hard, small, metal chairs and metal tables. I guess it being dinner time frame with only one table of patrons may have been a clue. We forged on because margaritas! My son ordered the breaded fish taco with blue corn and the birra. We both ordered the "best taco". Our table also had the chorizo and carnita tacos at our table and another pork one. We ordered one lime and one strawberry margarita with silver. The fish taco was good, so says my son. The "best taco" was overcooked, ground beef of about a triple portion. It was a lot! I would prefer better seasoned and quality in a smaller serving, but that may be just me. Three pork tacos were indistinct from one another...just spicy, spicier and can't handle it spicy. The carnitas were shoe leather level overcooked but not spicy. The tortillas were missing the common lime flavor most authentic tacos have. The margaritas are mostly ice, but they were good. The hostess was friendly, knowledgable and helpful. If the seating wasn't so uncomfortable and hard and the food was better quality, I would return. We won't be returning. We left at thirty minutes before closing and a kid came out from the back to switch the open sign to closed.

Google
So glad we found this gem! Our first time here and we were so impressed! The food was delicious and full of flavor. We had the taco trios and every taco we ate got better and better. By far the best and freshest chips and guac we’ve had. We appreciated the friendly service with spot on recommendations. This mama loved her generous margarita! We’ll be back!

Google
Excellent fish tacos. Accidentally came across this place while in that side of town. It was a great taco and in the traditional Baja way. None of that weird stuff other places put in a fish taco. Can’t wait to go back.

Yelp
I love everything about this restaurant. The authenticity of the food is the most important thing, but also authenticity of the people who work there and the owner. Delicious food not served in a rush. Atmosphere.

Yelp
Dipped in here today before I went to the QFC. I was kind of hungry and I know I will buy too many sacks in the grocery :-) I've been coming here since they opened. One of my favorite quick bites. Today I had just the Baja taco. Halibut deep-fried on a blue corn tortilla. Green salsa with some nice cabbage slaw on top. Quick, tasty, satisfying. They have full breakfast on the weekends and another dinner menu that has a lot of tasty things. I like the Carnitas. If you're ever around, come and check them out.

Yelp
Good food. Horrible customer service. Not enough employees. Owner is not friendly. He seems to like to cook and not mingle with customers.

Yelp
Where to start. I was starving looking for something to eat quickly before driving back to Oregon, following a work errand, and found this beautiful specimen on Yelp. I ordered for pickup but was only 5 mins from the restaurant and Grubhub gave me a 30min- 1hr pickup time. Disappointed I called the restaurant to see if this was accurate (and sadly cancel if so) and the kitchen was so sweet and said it could be ready when I got there. I ate this delicious fish taco the second I made it back to my car. It was slightly smaller than I had expected but surprisingly very filling. The flavors were an explosion in my mouth. I would drive the hour to cross the border and eat this taco a million times over. Compliments to the chef

Yelp
Updating my review to one star. The take-out game here is terrible. So, we showed up to eat in and left after 15 minutes without even ordering. The service was non-existent. This place was severely understaffed (as always) - we waited for a while at the check-in station. The single waitress/bartender was working on food in the kitchen. Then we sat down... and looked around. Tired-looking people were waiting to order. They ordered at last, but the waitress did not come to our table, instead, disappeared into the kitchen. We waited and waited. Not even waters came out. We figured if it takes this long to try to order, the wait for food will take hours. No thanks. We got up and walked out. This is officially THE last time we come here. The tacos are expensive enough here for the restaurant to be able to get enough staff. This lack of service is inexplicable. And it's not a one off. Trying to get take out from here takes 1.5 hours. It is insane. TLDR - do yourself a BIG favor and go somewhere else.

Barry M.

Yelp
I love this place the food is really good, I ate there 3 times in a role. Husband and wife team They are really nice. I've been ordering the burrito bowl with/ beef, chicken ,extra beans and cheese. And some chips with salsa. What I like to do is put the chips on the plate then pour over all the goodies except the guacamole save that to top it off

Yelp
"A Fish Named Taco" is an absolute gem of a restaurant that has left an indelible mark on my taste buds. The cute restaurant is owned by a husband and wife team whose cuisine is inspired by Baja Mexico. The menu is a testament to the culinary artistry that can be achieved when fresh ingredients meet skillful hands. Their signature fish tacos are an absolute must-try, and they are, without a doubt, the star of the show. These tacos are a symphony of flavors that dance on your taste buds. But "A Fish Named Taco" doesn't stop at tacos; they have burritos, bowls and more. It's clear that the owners take immense pride in their craft, and it shows in the quality of the food they serve. In conclusion, "A Fish Named Taco" is a fantastic, locally-owned restaurant with spectacular flavors. After eating here, you will leave craving more and reminisce about the incredible flavors long after you've left. This is my new favorite local place, and I will return often.

Emma G.

Yelp
So sad they're closed! They were literally the best tacos my bf and I had ever had. I just wish I could have one more baja fish taco... :(

Jeff S.

Yelp
This was my first time trying A Fish Named Taco and I will most definitely be back again. I am visiting from Los Angeles and I truly believe this is better than most of the seafood tacos I've had down there. This fish was fresh, the Cameron taco was amazing! Thanks and I'll be back before my trip is over. Very clean and open space. I see why this is one of my brother's favorite local spots. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend!

Angelica A.

Yelp
So impressed by the food here! This was our first visit in - and I am so disappointed it took this long! We came on a Tuesday after work and dined in. Not too many tables - but they have bar height seats facing out the window. Cute decor! Personally would love more lighting at night. Our waitress was really nice, attentive, and welcoming. We ordered a Paloma and a Margarita - they have an extensive cocktail menu as well. We ordered the Queso Fundido - with Chorizo. I really liked that it was a lighter portion - and not super heavy. Very delicious with the warm chips. We also had the trio of fish and shrimp tacos. Blown away by the flavors, quality of ingredients, and freshness. Best fish tacos I've had in a very long time. We had the Gordita which was tasty with hot salsa! We also had the birrio style tacos which came with rice and beans. This was one of the most authentic tasting Mexican dishes I've had in awhile. Great flavor profiles - not super heavy. We ended with a fresh churro! For two drinks, three dishes, and two churros + a tip; it was extremely affordable / especially for the flavor and quality of ingredients. This is a great spot to come back to for a drink and a lighter meal during the gym week since you can order in smaller or larger meal portions! Delicious!

Yelp
Cute place nestled in the QFC shopping area on 192nd. We were looking for tacos, somewhere close. We found A Fish Named Taco and had an early dinner there. We just missed the lunch crowd which was nice. We were asked to seat ourselves. A waitress came with menus. We decided to order different tacos to try different ones. I had the fish tacos and my husband had the Carne Asada tacos. Both were very delicious. The restaurant its self is small and yet quaint. Good food!!

Lori H.

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch around noon on a Saturday. Luckily they weren't too busy when we arrived. It's a pretty small place. It's located in a strip mall so there's plenty of parking available. After walking in we were told to pick a table and menus were brought. Based on appearance, it didn't seem like a place where tables would be waited on...seemed more like an order at the counter and find a place to sit establishment. Not many people working...only one in front (taking orders and bartending) and at least one in the kitchen. After reviewing the menu we decided to try the guacamole and chips, Baja fish taco, shrimp taco, adobo pork taco and skirt steak taco. It took quite awhile for our food to come, so we were thankful we ordered the guacamole and chips. Once the food came O-M-G, it was absolutely delicious! So fresh and obviously made to order, hence the time it took to arrive at our table. The fish was cooked to perfection. The shrimp was a generous size and the light breading was flavorful. Their verde and roja salsas were so good. Loved that they weren't chunky at all, and super flavorful. Their guacamole was super fresh and delicious as well. When you ask for water, you're given a bottled water (no charge). They have a full bar and offer mixed drinks, beer and soda. If I could base this review solely on the food it would definitely be 5 stars! Considering the wait time for such a small establishment (especially when there were only two tables occupied when we arrived), loud music (90's hits?!) and uncomfortable seating (metal chairs and bar stools) I'm giving them 4 stars.

Kyle S.

Yelp
So, this is my second time trying this local restaurant. It's located in the spot that was a Subway for the longest time in the QFC parking lot near Priority Life Chiropractic. Parking is shared with the strip mall and it's not difficult to find. The restaurant has some indoor seating as well as a bar (their margaritas are good!) but may be difficult to seat parties larger than 4 at a time. The natural question is why only 4/5 stars? Well the answer is straight forward. Over the last 6-8 weeks since I first went they haven't really streamlined their service / ordering operations. We sat for probably five minutes without having our order taken because she was trying to figure out how to split a check. I'm sure they'll work through this. The order was accurate, which was great! My colleague and I ordered a queso and chips appetizer and a fish taco and shrimp taco and they rival some of the best in the area. Had it not been just lunch a margarita would have been a great pairing! I will definitely be back as the food is solid, as it should be for $7 a fish/shrimp taco. Not a place you can do every day if you're on a budget, but if you're in the mood for a solid Fish Taco and are understanding of an up and coming restaurants growing pains I'd definitely give them a shot!

James G.

Yelp
All I can say is WOW. Dana is a GODDESS! She was all alone on the day my son and I went but I'm pretty sure the service could not have been better. She was so awesome, she took care of us and the couple that came in after us. The tacos were SUPERB, we had #1 fish and #2 shrimp tacos. Nachos were excellent as was the dips, spicy but not hot, smoky and clean. Tacos were so good we were satisfied for the rest of the day. Then had the pleasure of watching her make some mixed drinks for other couple, which to my trained eye came out perfect, not a drop extra or too little. It's ALWAYS a pleasure watching someone who knows what they are doing and doing it VERY well. As far as I'm concerned this is Vancouver's best kept secret. They should have a line out the door the food is so good.

Mindy P.

Yelp
Update: we came in again and there weren't many patrons. Service (same person) was quick and friendly. We ordered tacos and chips and guac. The food arrived very quickly! The tacos were larger than the last time, regular sized tacos now. Food was very good! Homemade tortillas and chips, flavorful tacos. I will definitely be back!

Brad A.

Yelp
This place has become a favorite of ours. We love the grilled cheese on the tortillas and the shrimp tacos are delicious. We always get a margarita with dinner and they taste really fresh. We will be back again.

Heather R.

Yelp
Tried for the 1st time on a rare weekday off together and it was delicious! Service was on point too!! Can't wait to enjoy again!

Gin B.

Yelp
First, let me say, we did NOT stay...so we did not even try the food. I've learned from experience that when the first impression is negative, it will only go down hill. So, we left. It was just after noon, there was one couple seated in the entire place. We were greeted and led to a tiny table in jammed into the corner, just behind the couple already seated. We asked for a larger table and were told that those are reserved for parties of 4. Mind you, the other couple (2 people) were seated at a 4-top. So, we just left. This was our first visit to this restaurant. We thought to try it for a special celebration, my birthday! We had hoped to enjoy and indulge in a nice meal. But it was ruined by being asked to sit at a table that is better suited to being a plant stand or a place to display business cards or go-menus, a table that is stuff into a corner. Is that table even as tall as the others? Not sure, it just seemed very tiny. That table should be removed. So, we went and enjoyed a nice meal at another restaurant. On the drive out, we noticed that the A Fish Named Taco was now completely empty. No wonder. It is a shame. Don't expect another chance from us!

Jennifer P.

Yelp
Great tacos! The La Baja fish taco has a generous amount of perfectly-fried fish (not greasy!) with classic toppings of cabbage, cilantro and onion. El Taco Callejero (street taco style) was also generous with very well-cooked skirt steak. The guacamole and both salsas (roja and verde) were on point. The Bavarian cream-filled churro was stupid good. Only 1 person was staffing front of house so a bit of a wait. I'm happy to wait for these tacos!! We're already planning next trip to try some of the other things from the menu.

Cathy C.

Yelp
Very good food and service if you're looking for a simple but tasty meal. The restaurant is clean and the staff is usually very helpful.

Boris K.

Yelp
Great good, service and tasty margaritas! Prices are very reasonable. Great breakfast too!

Trey M.

Yelp
I loved their fish and fried shrimp tacos but the star (ironically given the name) to me was the street tacos--deliciously seasoned.

Sierra S.

Yelp
I ordered the Baja Fish Taco but received the Trio, which cost twice as much. They also forgot my chips. The tacos were good but it's ridiculous that 3 tacos that can each fit in the palm of my hand are $6 apiece. And the pieces of fish were even smaller, like a chicken nugget that didn't even fill the shell!! I'll go back if they cut their prices in half (ha).

Melous A.

Yelp
Food was ok & the service was friendly. The bowl I got was definitely what I pictured. Recommend the bowls for sure

Ryan W.

Yelp
Taco perfection! This place crafts the most mouthwatering, authentic tacos you'll ever taste. A must-visit for taco lovers!

Demo M.

Yelp
Great food but a bit pricey for what it is. The staff has been friendly the couple times I've been.

Lois R.

Yelp
It's the best !!!!!! Yummm !!!! The fish tacos are so delicious!!!!! And the daddy burritos are amazing! I go there at least once a week !

EB C.

Yelp
I don't think the name of this place is inviting people to try this or helping them to know that this is an awesome full Mexican restaurant. Fish tacos are just one of MANY other outstanding Mexican favorites ...done correctly....(unlike the other Mexican places in the area-ick) on their menu! Everything we've tried has been great but we love their pork tacos the very best. It's like an explosion of flavor. A must try. Their refried beans are the best I've had aside from in Ft Worth, TX at Joe T. Garcia's (IYKYK). They have a full bar and even though it's in a strip center, you can sit outside at a little table with your dog! Please go support this place so we can keep it in business!

Austin G.

Yelp
Fairly good tacos and other items. There "best taco" didn't live up to its name but I really liked the crunchy burritos. Service and atmosphere are good.

Amelia G.

Yelp
The best food EVER! Love absolutely everything! Such a hidden gem and a must try for the area! I keep on coming back:)

Brittany S.

Yelp
Who said tacos were only meant for Tuesdays? Stopped by and ordered the Chorizo Queso Fundido and it did not disappoint! The chips were even fresh and crispy. For my meal, I got the Baja Trio tacos, all were good but hands down the California Shrimp was my favorite! Never had battered shrimp tacos before, never even thought of it! I intend to be back to try the quesa birria or street steak tacos.

Mackenzie C.

Yelp
Really good tacos! I got el trio baja with one of each option. La baja fish and the cameron were my favorites out of the three, and the salsa verde on the side was so delicious and flavorful. If I'm ever in Camas again I would come here for sure. My only note of what could be better is that they give you a plastic waterbottle when dining in instead of a glass which is wasteful. However I don't think that's worth knocking off a star considering how good the food was!

Shannon S.

Yelp
I am hesitant to post as I want this little gem to stay small, but unreal fish tacos! Best I have had since I left San Diego and worth my drive from Beaverton. We will be back. They were packed tonight, but the wait was worth it!

Tiff S.

Yelp
Went here for my boyfriends birthday after seeing it pop up on my Yelp with tons of good reviews. He is a massive fish taco lover so we had to come give it a try. It did NOT disappoint. Everything was absolutely delicious. I wish it was closer to where we lived, we'd eat here all the time. He had 2 of the La Baja Fish tacos and he loved them. The fish was super fresh and flaky, it was battered perfectly & not too thick, and the blue corn tortilla was great. The only thing he said was that he wished there was a little more crema, but that's such a minor thing. He still gave the taco a 10/10! Another person with us got the Baja Trio, which is 3 mini tacos from your choice of the Baja fish, The Cameron (Grilled shrimp), and the Cali shrimp taco (beer battered shrimp). You can get any combo you'd like but he got all three. He had no complaints, said everything was delicious and well cooked. I had the Quesabrosabirria Tacos and holy guacamole it was amazing. Rice and beans on the side were good as well - not fantastic but good, but the Birria made up for it. The consommé was really flavorful, I almost wanted to drink it after I was done with the tacos. Gotta try to churros next time and definitely want to come back for breakfast. Inside was clean and well decorated. Had a few tables to sit at and a little bar along the window with seating. Wish I remembered to take photos of our food before eating, but it all looked too good so I forgot and just dove in. Overall we were tremendously pleased and will for sure be coming back again. Also, love the name, A Fish Named Taco!

Wendell R.

Yelp
Follow up review. We did go back again. I ordered six pork tacos. When I got home I only had one. I had to drive back to get what I paid for. They did give me one extra taco. We also ordered chips and the queso chorizo dip. The cheese dip was like rubber and again some of the chips were chewy. I could literally pick the whole thing up and bite it. I will say the pork tacos were tasty thus the two stars. I don't think we're going back there anytime soon. Perhaps three times will be a charm?

Thrift T.

Yelp
Ordered the shrimp trio tacos and they were delicious! Our food came out very fast! Will be back to try other menu options! Plus we got $5 off from the Payback Coupon Book.

Brett H.

Yelp
I e eaten here a couple of times, but my experience is just over shadowed by better places close bye such as little conejo for the fish tacos. I'd place it in the middle between conejo and basic Mexican takeout like muchas gracias.

Sandra S.

Yelp
This place is truly a gem! Easily the best Mexican food I've had! I'm from Seattle and I have yet to find a place that's anywhere close to this good. We ordered a bit of everything from the menu and there wasn't a single item I didn't love, you really can't go wrong here. Everything tasted fresh and high quality, with generous portion sizes. Both our waitress and the owner that we met were super sweet. Can't wait to come back next time we're in town!

Scott J.

Yelp
The food is consistently great here and we have eaten here at least 6-7 times. The staff has been friendly on each visit as well.

Andrew A.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! The flavor of the food is to die for. Sometimes can take a little long for your food if dining in, but its well worth it once you taste it! Definitely my go to if I'm looking for a rice bowl. Unmatched!

Saskia F.

Yelp
Good food, poor service & make sure to ask for the cost of anything other then well drinks. The margarita menu should definitely state how expensive anything other then well is!

Daniel B.

Yelp
The tacos were not good. The fish in the fish taco tasted like it was a frozen fish plank that I ate as a child. The chips and guacamole were overpriced for what you got.

Taylor F.

Yelp
Not sure what they use for their beer batter but it's soggy and mostly batter instead of fish. Bean and cheese burrito was fantastic though. Also their prices are way to steep for the amount/quality of food

Kelly R.

Yelp
We went for lunch today at A Fish named Taco. It was our first time going. We found the music was to loud to have a conversation. Our food tasted good. It was a little too spicy for us. My husband who loves spicy foods found it almost too spicy to eat. We will come back.

Gerry O.

Yelp
It's definitely no longer a Subway location. I had been waiting for over a year try this place, they weren't able to open during Covid. SOOOO WORTH THE WAIT! We got the little trio of tacos and they were amazing! Also did the queso chorizo mind blown!! And to top it off we also tried 4 different margaritas and all were delicious. The down side, not a lot of tables inside, we went at lunch time and it seemed staff was a little overwhelmed, but really nice. But they do have to to go along with to go margaritas!! We will be going back again for sure!

Kathy E.

Yelp
Combo plate of tacos was excellent but took a while to arrive. The single server did a amazing job keeping the full dining room served. Nice dining ambience.

Patrycia S.

Yelp
WOW ok these guys are doing it right! I'm so grateful for this local restaurant. These tacos are proper LA tacos but made with high quality ingredients. I can't tell you how hard that is to find. My boyfriend and I are well traveled tough critics when it comes to food and I can say we were both impressed by all the items we ordered. We also moved up here from echo park LA so we know our Mexican food. We loved the la Baja fish tacos, quesabrosabirria, el taco callejero, the miniburris, and the la gordita ( only on Sunday's). For drinks we had a mango margarita and a hibiscus lime margarita, both delicious and worth having. The spices on the rim were a nice touch! We felt satisfied and light after eating here. Not greased out and sickly. The staff were super helpful and made sure we were taken care of. The restaurant itself is casual vibes and super clean and new. You can tell this place cares about the quality and puts lots of love into their food. One of the owners came out at the end to greet us and serve our final gordita. We also met the other owner before leaving who cooked the gordita for us. It's awesome knowing that they're in the back making everything perfect. Thanks for bringing delicious authentic Mexican to east Vancouver! We really were needing it if you're thinking about visiting, just do it. We have to support local spots like this! They deserve it.

Sam P.

Yelp
Found this place from a friend of mine. They are fairly new so it's not perfect, but it sure is pretty close to perfect. The atmosphere is very nice. The staff and owners are helpful with the menu. Margaritas and the food are some of the best I've ever had. It is a bit on the pricier side of things, but the quality is well worth it.. 5 stars and I definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
Horrible service. Need to hire more help. Been sitting for 10 minutes and no one came to take order. This is no way to encourage a return. Thinking about leaving.
